listen the Dallas Mavericks don’t want to trade Daniel Gaffford I don’t want the Dallas Mavericks to trade Daniel Gaffford The problem is the Mavs don’t have any guards right now going into the season They have Brandon Williams and Max Christie who’s not really an onthe- ball guard that much and Kyrie Irving is going to be injured for a long time And so I get it I get it I see so many comments like these talking about why are you guys so willing to give up on Gaffford Gaffford is better than Derrick Lively Gaffford has been more reliable Very true The injury concern is a big one for Anthony Davis and for Derrick Lively and having Daniel Gaffford continues to make this a strength of the team But the problem is for the Mavericks you got to give up something good to get something good Do you want to keep BJ Washington Do you want to lose him What about Naji Marshall Is Naji Marshall enough to get a good enough guard for you And then there’s the problem of the salary cap Daniel Gaffford and BJ Washington are both going to be unrestricted free agents after this year And you’re probably going to lose one of them And so you’ve got to get some value for one of them right now because I don’t think you’re going to sign both of them to the deals they want this year And so this is just a problem the Mavs have to figure out And so it doesn’t matter if we want to keep Gaffford or not The the issue is the Mavs have a problem to fix which is getting a guard They have valuable players in PJ Washington and in Daniel Gaffford and they got to trade one of them And the Mavs happen to have two centers on the roster right now And Dererick Live is going to play bunch of minutes for the Mavericks if he’s healthy And then Anthony Davis who’s going to play minutes at center because he’s best at center even though he wants to play four It is what it is And so I get it I don’t want to trade Daniel Gaffford either It sounds like the Mavs don’t want to but they may have to

I'm hoping we can find a way to keep Gaff and PJ and instead move Martin, Hardy, OMax, maybe Klay, get Powell to opt out and join the staff in some fashion. Sign Ky to a 2+1 at like 39/40/42. Gaff takes less than starter money like he said he would. And see what we can do from there.
Why don't we draft a PG (after we draft Coop) or sign an undrafted PG then if Gafford or PJ don't wanna sign after the season trade them mid-season

It sure would have been great seeing if Mavs could have won the championship this year. May never get that chance again for a long time.
AD is not best at center AD us best wen he can play the 4 roam and play help defense he was his best with dwight howard to protect the rim because then AD cant literally cover the rest of the floor by himself as long as he kno he dnt also gotta protect the rim roamin and help AD is the best defender in the league
Once again floating the idea of Gafford, Klay, salary filler and a single protected first for Harden. Also, can we get Brook Lopez for the diminished mid-level exception that we can offer?
it's gotta be pj. if we give up gafford we're back to having no big depth. if we give up pj, we still have plenty of wings, especially once we draft flagg.
Gaff is not better than lively imo
it's a simple question. Would you rather have a older injury prone player with a HUGE contract in AD or PJ and Gaff and = picks and expiring contracts and a bit of cap space/Or one of the Spurs Point Guards or their 2nd pick in the draft and that Point guard(You probably have to give a add a first).
That's what it boils down too. for more rational. We need Gaff cause Lively might be injury prone, but we already have a center player 4, but hes injury prone as well so they need both Gaff and PJ because our starters are injury prone.
I would definitely wait on trading lively(1st quarter of the season at least) and if he gets hurt then. That's it, to much injuries with a team whose two stars are old and injury prone with huge contracts. Keep gaff and trade Lively.
Dallas is going to be a great team when they get they injured back and get coop
