Ian Begley gives update on Knicks head coach search, trading for Kevin Durant
We now go inside out with the
aforementioned in Begley any and no truth to the rumors that
the Harlem Globetrotters denied, the Knicks permission to
interview their head. Coach sweet, Lou Dunbar but plenty of
people are jumping to the conclusion that the Knicks don’t have a
plan right now. So how close is that? Is reality to that
perception. Look, I would say this. It’s clear. It’s obvious to say
at this point, that there was no, I would say no guarantee in
place here for the dick snowshoeing. When they fired Tom
Thibodeau, I think the plan now is kind of what you’re seeing
there. Kicking the tires on everything, they’re turning over
every stone. They can to try to get an idea of who is and
who is not available during this search, you know, Jason Kidd and made a
doka and the other names you
mentioned And I think it’s a fact-finding
mission at this point because I think what they don’t want to
happen is let’s say they hire, you know, just for example or
Frank Vogel and then they find out two weeks
later you know what Jason Kidd was
available. We didn’t know about it, that would be a big mistake.
Take us inside life in the NBA does having permission
denied to speak to a coach automatically discover
disqualify that coach is a candidate. I don’t think so and
specifically on Jason Kidd like the Mavericks were never going
to give the Knicks permission without pressure or some Sable
saber-rattling or stirring things up by Jason Kidd
or his representatives. In terms of maybe talking an
eagle Harrison talking to ownership about why they feel
like they should be able to talk to the Knicks or may be
appealing to their human side and saying hey this is a dream
job of mind. You know, would really appreciate the chance to talk to them. It’s there it was. Never going
to happen without pressure from kid or people on his side. So
absent, that the Mavericks have no reason to grant that
permission, but I still think there’s a chance that maybe, you know, that behind the scenes
that saber-rattling could happen. Now, throughout
the day on Wednesday, you reported that the Nets are going
to. She’s me. The Knicks are going to cast a wide net for
candidates, Johnny Bryan and Michael Malone are still out there, but who
else might be part of that wide net that the Knicks are expected
to cast. I’ll just say him in quickly on
Malone and on Brian, I don’t think right now. Either of those
guys are in the top tier of that Nick list. If there is a
list of just think at the moment, they’re not all the way up
there. Your things can obviously change. But I think
that’s where it sits right now. I also think you have to look at
the other head coaches with experience that are unemployed you know, a Mike
Brown comes to my to Taylor Jenkins comes to mind. I’m sure
as the Knicks are, you know, covering all their bases. You
have to at least bring NG those guys into interview or gauge
their level of Interest. So I’m sure they’re checking all their
boxes. They’re all righty and now to the roster what are you
hearing on the Kevin Durant to the Knicks front? You know, I mean if you if you
watch the puck back, if you’re a fan, you’d know that I’ve been
saying for weeks. Now, it’s unlikely that Durant ends
up in New York. I know there were some reports from from the
post and Newsday that the Knicks are not going to get involved there. I believe those to be accurate,
although, I think it’s, it would be missing an opportunity,
not to at least check in with Phoenix and see
what the price would be and see like what the price of a Kevin Durant extension
would be, I don’t think you should close
yourself off from that, but it’s not surprising. That
reports came out today that they would not be involved
because I always saw it as a Longshot that number
35, would end up with the orange and blue. We are all big fans of the
putback but you’ve raised the bar. Now Ian once you have
Ben Stiller on, I need John Mcenroe, Steve schirripa, Tracy
Morgan. Someone we need some big names
but Ian thanks for not denying our request to interview
appreciate your time.

At least the good news for Knicks fans , we’re not trading for Kevin Durant so that is a relief
Firing thibs two seasons ago would have been the time to do it, when coaches like ime udoka where still on the market.
I would identify an assistant coach on Indiana or OKC…
Maybe the Knicks can interview Thibs – he'd be good. I heard his last team had back to back 50 win seasons & made it to the ECF for the first time in 25 years!!!
Rick Carlisle. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
What he'll are we doing
If the Knicks trade for Toxic Diva Durant then I’m done as a Knicks fan
changing coaches will not win a championship. having a deeper bench might. the pacers beat the knicks bc of their depth not bc of thibs. when leon traded 2 rotation players for kat the dye was cast. now the internet idiots talk about trading for injury prone over the hill stars. that won't work. improve the bench either in trades or internally. that is the only way.
Good cause KD ain’t a Knick. Like not even a little.
If the Knicks can't get Gianni or kd , maybe they could get red klotz
Training camp doesn't start until October. There's no rush to get a coach. What the hell is wrong with everybody?
Does anybody know the definition of an interim head coach? Every team has had one. That, basically means you don't have an immediate plan after you fire a coach. You have to hire a temporary one.
The media always blowing Knicks news out of proportion and that's why the front office doesn't deal with them.
This guy Begley covers the Knicks and doesn't know anything about them.
Every time someone asks him a question, it's always;
"I don't know"
"I'm not certain"
"I think"
Do you have any actual inside information? If not, then what's the point? You might as well be SpeculationNet New York.
Bryant is a major factor in why the Cavs did better last year. Bryant knows the Knicks system. He knows the Knicks players. Bryant is a no-brainer. Go Knicks.
The Knicks are, once again, a clown show
Mark Jackson as coach..
The Knicks not having a plan under James Dolan, no surprise. Bring Oakley back into the fold now.
Guess what, Knicks fans? James Dolan isn’t distracted anymore! Daddy’s home! XD
No no, no Durant. WE NEED GIANNIS
