Bickley Blast: Are the Arizona Cardinals, D-backs and Phoenix Suns cursed?

and Marada Mornings arizona sports the local sports leader bigley Blast here’s a question for Arizona sports fans are we cursed or are we the worst we have an NBA team that has driven itself into a ditch and after all the changes we still don’t know who is making the decisions we’ve got a baseball team begging for votes from the state legislature after we’ve already lost our NHL team to Salt Lake City we have a statue of Jerry Kangelo sitting in a Chicago warehouse and those who can make it happen here couldn’t care less about an iconic owner whose name is so valued elsewhere it’s on the basketball court at the Hall of Fame in Massachusetts alas as the valley continues to boom in population it feels like we are going backwards as a sports town in fact one of the few great moments we are guaranteed in the coming months is the celebration of Kausas Campbell when he comes out of the tunnel in Glendale for the Cardinals first home game and on a related note Campbell thinks the 2025 Cardinals might be special a team capable of going on a deep playoff run next season let’s hope he’s right because we do not have a lot of open windows at the moment and it’s both ironic and sad that the Cardinals and the Sundevils a pair of football programs that were a wash in dysfunction just a few years ago might be our best shot at redemption all right today’s blast brought to you by my great friends at Chapman BMW who make luxury attainable find them online at chapmanbmw.com so far so good you know uh obviously you mean for for this level you know mini camp is you know it’s very light you know there’s not a lot of emotion with mini camp but uh you know I’m sure that first your first week you know especially that first home game coming out of the tunnel it’s going to be a lot more emotional you know I mean I can feel it already you know it’s a lot of emotion you know I mean you know I never really wanted to leave you although I’m I feel like everything happens for a reason and I had a lot of great experiences you know a lot of other places so it was definitely you know the right choice I guess and everything happened where it’s supposed to but coming back is definitely going to be like it’s going to be very emotional sure unmistakable tones of Kus Campell kas Campbell talking yesterday uh to the media back and talking about his emotions we we touched on this earlier just when he says never really wanted to leave the Cardinals thinking at the time um they they I think they could see the end of the success of the BA era coming they had a year of of mediocrity before in 2016 um so he’s there for the for the last year they probably thought in free agency hey we’d like to keep this guy but maybe we’re going to rebuild which they ended up doing and they probably thought nine years into his career Kas Campbell was near the end yeah exactly and here he is here he is yeah in year 18 yeah doing it again it was also money related and And you keep in mind because that was a high price tag he he was a premium player at the time and the Cardinals for whatever reason weren’t kind of in that mindset it’s um sort of like the Patrick Peterson thing uh there there was a time after the BA situation and that great era ended that the Cardinals were a mess and it’s interesting that they’ve come full circle now and they might be our best shot at a title in the near future y I wouldn’t have guessed that a couple years ago yeah kas Campbell’s been around he’s been to Jacksonville he’s been to Atlanta he spent last season in Miami so he’s seen some other things around the NFL and he did also as you alluded to in your blast bit say this you know teams always every team has high high aspirations going into the season and this team’s no different you know and I go out there and I see us throwing the ball around and and playing a little football and I say “Okay we look pretty good.” You know and you know I think that everything is on the table for us right you know obviously it’s a lot of work you got to you know do everything you’re supposed to do you know between now and training camp and then training camp everything has to come together but uh this team is special i believe it has all the tools to make a run and I think it’d be a great story you know being here coming back you know it would be a credible story so obviously uh we all have dreams you know and we’ll see if it if it comes to fruition or not but um you know I’m I’m eager for the opportunity yeah and and to the point of your blast wouldn’t it be great timing for the Cardinals to be the team that kind of lifts up the the the sport city again the morale of the Arizona sports fan again yeah and I think there’ll be a lot of excitement about ASU but I’m kind of confining my blast and my anger to the pro sports yeah the pro sports teams in town and and how we can’t get elevation and and and again it’s a lot of stuff that’s happening here it’s we need to be celebrating what little history we have we need to be better as a sports market and and it again we need our teams to be better we need everyone to be better and and I hope that football season is going to be a lot different for us here than say the last six months have been yeah cuz it’s been uh baseball season’s been very very disappointing so far and I’m not counting out them making a turnaround but even Dererick Hall himself yesterday said their odds are slim when you when you factor everything in if that’s the realistic way to approach it it’s going to it it’s going to take something sustained which we haven’t seen from the Diamondbacks to this point uh Kas Campbell also at this point of his career 18 years in the league he talked to the media about where he is at physically i’m where I’m supposed to be you know uh you know I’m not ready to play a game that’s for sure you know uh mini camp coach you know you know uh you know he gave me a lot of grace and you know was just like come around be around the guys a little bit of movement but I didn’t do too much um uh but you know come training camp I’m ready to go and you know I feel like I’m right where I supposed to be you know the experience is a great thing but experience tells me like you know I I can feel like you know I’m you know you know my where I’m at and where I should be i know exactly where I need to be and right now I’m I’m right on par look this book is not over this is just a new chapter for Kas Campbell but it’s also his second chapter in Arizona i don’t know if before he came back here Kas Campbell was necessarily on the radar or in the discussion for Cardinals Ring of Honor status probably is don’t you think or does it depend on how this stint goes it’s not going to be a long stint we know that at some point Kas Campbell’s going to retire yeah that’s interesting yeah because because obviously the uh the reconciliation the reunion with Patrick Peterson yeah this certainly worthy candidate i mean he was the Cardinals man of the year nominee um at least once if not more than once during his first nine years here and that’s part of the uh part of the criteria you would think as well yeah okay yeah but I mean 10 years this would be his 10th year in a Cardinal uniform different stints it’s amazing homecomings haven’t always worked out well no but uh this one might be good yeah I have the feeling it will too thanks for watching Bickley and Marada click to see the latest Bickley Blast and hit the button in the middle to subscribe to Arizona Sports

A deal has yet to be made with the city of Phoenix and the Arizona Diamondbacks regarding renovations for Chase Field and the Phoenix Suns just hired their third head coach in as many years. Dan Bickley wonders if this could be the season the Cardinals save Arizona sports fans or are all the local professional teams just cursed?

  1. The Cards will win no more than 7 games this season. They are not the redemption, they are still a joke.

  2. YEP! the Cards most of all! holy cow you have a QB that literally can't see over the OLine HAHAHHAHAHAH, can't even play if you don't have your #1 player blinded HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
