Boston Celtics Trade Plans LEAKED via NBA Insider? | Celtics Trade Rumors

have Brad Stevens offseason trade plans for the Boston Celtics been leaked by an NBA insider we know the seeds have to make moves this summer but the timing of those moves is a question that we have to answer we’re going to discuss that on today’s show but before we do with less than two weeks to go until the NBA draft let me know in the comments section do the Celtics make a trade before the NBA draft as multiple insiders have reported the offseason could be really sped up and we could be seeing some big moves over these next couple weeks why for yes and for now [Music] what’s going on green teamers you’re watching Celtics Today by chat sports i am your host Tyler Smith and on today’s show Jake Fischer of the Steinline NBA insider who’s been reporting all the latest intel on the NBA trade rumor mill says that the Celtics could possibly be taking their time this offseason he said that the Celtics are quote not operating to date like a team desperate to shed salary more from Fischer here he said “Boston is certainly looking to cut salary to reduce its luxury tax bill and duck under the second apron but the Celtics are said to be conducting their midJune business with confidence that they can make deals that bring positive value back to Boston and you know he learns from the best right danny A for the longest time was you know very stubborn in trade talks he wouldn’t back down to anyone he would not take a deal unless he was absolutely fleecing the opposing side and that’s what it seems like Brad Stevens is doing right now maybe not in the sense of like a fleece job but he wants to get the value back for the players that he acquired and built a championship roster with drew Holiday is going to have value this summer chris Desporzingis might have some value this summer other players on Boston’s roster are going to have value as well but it comes to this the Celtics have to decide when they want to make these moves and when they will get the best value so Fischer said this “They have also given some rival teams a sense that a sequence of trades could be coming that merely start in the offseason and potentially even continue up to the in-season trade deadline such as dealing away Chris Porzingis’ $ 30.7 million contract for a lesser salary in return and then attempting to trim costs again before the February trade buzzer.” And that makes sense to me the Celtics luxury tax penalties we know they’re paying more in luxury tax than they would be for the potential roster payroll so it makes sense that they want to move off some money it’ be a $500 million bill and they’re in the midst of an ownership change so they have to cut some costs but they don’t get hit with these repeater tax penalties until the NBA trade deadline in February so they could make that move this makes a lot of sense like trade Porzingis now you get a contract or two that’s in the mid 15 to$20 million you deal that at the deadline much more movable deal and you get off of that money and don’t get hit with those penalties the other kind of angle you have to look at here is that other teams around the league know that Boston has to shed salaries so Brad Stevens isn’t going to be forced into making a trade here over the next couple weeks just because it’s before the NBA draft i also don’t think that Stevens is necessarily prioritizing this year’s draft capital 2025 like he has solid picks and you know selections that could be contributors next year 28 and 32 so I don’t think that he’s too focused on necessarily you know acquiring a ton of draft capital for this coming draft so he can wait it out into free agency into August into September into the early part of the season and all the way to the trade deadline there is flexibility to be had here and Stevens is going to strike when the iron is hot and when the value is there now Sham Shrania a couple of days ago we heard him say that the Celtics focus right now is trades centered around Drew Holiday Chris Espingis and Sam Hower and that makes a lot of sense right holiday is just that expense on the books that you probably can’t afford poor Zingis is an expiring deal and then Sam Hower just gives you a a bunch of really big penalties his $10 million could really cost $80 million after the tax but in the sense of Porzingis like it makes sense to wait on trading him potentially because the value that he has has on the basketball court has been completely tanked like the mystery illness that he was facing in March it reared its ugly head in the postseason and now the lasting image of Chris S porzingis in a Celtics uniform is not exactly a good one for Celtics fans and probably not around the league as well so I can’t imagine that his oncourt value is super high in a trade and Brad Stevens would be happy with any current offers that would be out there for KP and there’s also reports coming out that Boston might want to keep Chris Porzingis longterm that he’s necessarily not a name that they feel like they need to trade this off seasonason or necessarily at all chris um Chris Manx said this porzingis I think is available but I think that they would like to get Porzingis back longterm at a lower price point on his next deal and that makes a lot of sense right like his value has been kind of tanked but when he is healthy and is producing he is awesome and fits right into what the Celtics want to do offensively so it would make sense for them to want to keep him but it’s going to be very very difficult if they want to go down that road if you keep Chris Esporzingis that makes getting this under the second apron a lot more difficult what are the restrictions that Boston has they can’t aggregate contracts in a trade they can’t obviously send out more money than they’re getting back and they there’s too many restrictions that that make you know these trades especially right now or like having to make a trade by a c a certain deadline this summer very very difficult so if you’re going to keep Porzingis like then that necessarily takes him out of the books for moving off of his $30.7 million or at least a big chunk of it so then you look at the rest of the players in the Celtics roster because to get under the second apron they’re going to have to make multiple deals nobody can absorb a $30 million contract except for the Brooklyn Nets and they’re not going to want any players that Boston has and are willing to move off of so keeping Porzingis actually makes a Jaylen Brown or a Derek White trade a lot more likely and that’s where I kind of have my doubts about you know them keeping Porzingis longterm because I don’t think that a Jaylen Brown or a Derek White trade is very likely look I like Porzingis and I would really like to see him be healthy and play you know 65 games every year and be ready for a postseason run but that’s not all that realistic if you can potentially get him on a shorter or on a you know lesser money deal down the line I’m open to it but my priority and I’m sure the Celtic’s priority right now number one is getting under that second apron and Porzingis would probably be a domino that has to fall but however the first domino that might might have to fall is going to be Drew Holiday this is a player that I could be see that I could see being traded before the NBA draft or very early in free agency they could drag that KP thing all the way to the deadline and I think there would be no problem with doing that holiday on the other hand I’m sure a vet a a contending team is going to want him on their roster at the start of the 2526 campaign so they have that consistency and continuity so there are teams that are going to be interested but it’s also not going to be that easy to trade Holiday either because we really don’t know what his value lies at this point there are some reports coming out that the Celtics have to attach a first round pick to get off of Drew Holiday because he has three years left on his deal including a player option of 37 million when he’s going to be 37 years old so you know a lot of people are skeptical about what his value might back want back but we also heard some other reports that the Celtics are want a first round pick back for Drew Holiday so some people say they got to give a first to get rid of him and then another report came out that says Brad Stevens wants a first round pick in exchange for Drew Holiday i It’s absolutely super confusing right now and you know we really don’t know where his value lies uh unless we’re on the phones with these some of these NBA teams and uh I think if you’re watching this video we all know that’s not the case all right so some holiday landing spots potentially as he could be the first trade to go down this off seasonason well we’ve heard reported interest from the Dallas Mavericks the Los Angeles Clippers the Orlando Magic the Sacramento Kings and now the Detroit Pistons as well are being floated out there as a potential landing spot as far as players I potentially would like to get back in a holiday deal I would like Daniel Gaffford from Dallas boy uh Bogdan Bogdanovich is the name that’s being floated around in a Clippers potential framework you have the Orlando Magic i would like to get or potentially Wendell Carter back in that trade maybe a little bit more as well sacramento I’ve been hearing some rumblings about a Demar D Rozan for Drew Holiday swap especially in a gap year i wouldn’t mind that plus D Rozan makes $10 million less than Drew Holiday does and then the Detroit Pistons have been seeing some stuff about a Tobias Harris swap uh I I wouldn’t be too mad about that either cuz with JT sideline for the next whole year’s campaign I it’s not going to be uh the biggest wing depth for Boston especially if they’re going to move Sam Hower as well but if they do make one of those moves and the sellers make a trade here in the next couple weeks we are going to bring you a video and if it’s a kind of coincide with Peyton Pritchard right there jake Fischer said the following the Boston is uh believed to be open to listening to any player on its roster not named Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown that’s where the conflict comes in i’d put Peyton Pritchard and Derek White right behind those two as franchise corner oh those two franchise cornerstones as extremely hard to get as well now where this kind of conflicts with a report that we heard from Shams a couple of days ago is that the Celtics will he said the Celtics will have to listen to Derek White and Jaylen Brown trade offers now does that necessarily mean that they are listening i I it honestly came across and listening back to it a little bit more like Shams is insinuating or his opinion is that the Celtics have will have to listen to Derek White and Jaylen Brown trades he did however report that teams are going to be making calls about those two players and those two guys are going to have the most value as far as any player that could be a trade candidate for Boston this offseason but according to Fischer it seems like Jaylen Brown is definitely an untouchable let’s talk about who he mentioned in the back half of that quote though pton Pritchard and Derek White very likely D white gets traded we’ll talk about that in a little bit but he says the Celtics would likely have to listen to any ultraaggressive offer for this season six man of the year but Pritchard is currently projected to shoulder a significant role in Boston’s offense for the 2526 season with the Celtics hopeful of remaining competitive in the Eastern Conference even while Tatum is on the mend from his devastating Achilles tear look I’ll keep it plain and simple you do not trade this contract you do not trade the six man of the year who just averaged 15 points a night on 40% three-point shooting on super high volume in nights when he went for 40 you don’t trade that when he’s getting paid this there’s no excuse whatsoever unless it’s an uber aggressive offer where you’re given three first round picks for Peyton Pritchard which is not going to happen you don’t trade him because there isn’t a player of value when the Celtics can’t aggregate contracts right now that makes $87 million that is even comparable to the value that Peyton Pritchard brings you so it it makes absolutely no sense and nip this in the bud real quick pton Pritcher will be probably your starting point guard for the 25-26 Boston Celtics fischer with more here on Derek White this White meanwhile has been so essential to Boston on both sides of the ball that it see sounds as though the Celtics would need their version of the offer that blew away Brooklyn and forced the Nets to part with Male Bridges to entertain surrendering him h I wonder I wonder wonder who said something like that like two days ago yeah oh yeah this guy i I I said I would need a male Bridges type package in order to trade Derrick White i’m talking three four five maybe six controlled first round picks he is that valuable and the money he makes right now i It’s just makes no sense like there are bigger contracts and there are bigger fish to fry on the Celtics payroll than Derek White he is such an afterthought when it comes to trying to figure out who needs to be traded on this roster to clear up some money he makes the least out of any Celtics starter it makes no sense to trade him and he provides so much on both ends of the floor that it would be an idiotic trade package that would come across my screen if I saw breaking Celtics trade Derrick White i I really just don’t see that there there being many positives and I I’m confident in Brad by the way if there was a package that he accepted it probably would be an absolute hall but even then like if you’re trading Derrick White that means you’re rebuilding like any package that I would even remotely entertain for Derek White would have to include like four or five first round picks and like that’s not I don’t really think that’s going to happen i feel like the Knicks and the rest of the league kind of know that they made a mistake making that Muel Bridges deal even though he’s been solid for them and was in the postseason but like trading Derrick White means that you are rebuilding and you are trying to get a crop of first round picks and look deep into the future and from everything that we’ve heard from even all these trade reports and whatever Brad Stevens has said from the uh end of the regular season and and the end of the postseason the C’s are still looking to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference which is wide open next season if you got Derek White and Jaylen Brown as their top two players in a season where Jason Tatum sideline I still think you can easily be a top four to five seed so I don’t see either of those two guys getting moved be on the lookout though for Holiday and Porzingis trades you let me know in the comment section though who stays who goes which Celtics players should be traded and which should stay let me know because I saw a bunch of people in the comment section saying that nobody’s untouchable yesterday you let me know who needs to stay
