rick you guys are up uh 103 to 99 about three minutes and change there only have one point the rest of the way just kind of what did you see from the offense that got stagnant yeah we got stagnant um their second shots were a big problem um when you were unable to rebound it’s hard to continue to play with pace and tempo uh I haven’t looked at the at the end of the game yet so I don’t have the blowby-blow for you um but give them credit um you know they kept attacking kept attacking and their defense was great down the stretch fourth row on the left Shaia Taylor the athletic rick you all had 20 assists in the first three quarters but only one in the fourth what do you think caused that a lot of the same stuff I was just talking about um you know an inability to come up with rebounds um an inability to get key stops was a part of it and then um you know we just got too stagnant you know the ball was not being advanced quickly enough we weren’t creating problems and we were up against the clock a lot so things got very difficult but you got to give Oklahoma credit i mean they they made it very difficult front left tim Rick from the very beginning of the series you’ve talked about how it’s an 18-day grind how important is that mindset now that you know that it’s at least going six and that you’ve prepared yourself for one that’s going to go either pretty close to the end or to the ultimate end yeah I mean it’s um you know it’s it’s it’s the ultimate effort endeavor whatever you want to call it i mean it’s it’s long it’s arduous but it’s it’s the greatest opportunity going you know it’s the greatest opportunity going and it’s it’s really hard um and it’s supposed to be hard you know it’s just it’s supposed to be hard and this is where you know we’re going to have to we’re going to have to dig in and um and circle the wagons and and come back stronger on Monday um this was uh it’s a big disappointment um but there’s three games left greg front right rick um I know when you study film you you’ll have a answer this probably better but SGA was kind of under wraps in the fourth quarter he had I think 15 by himself did you Did you see any Was he figuring something out what What did you see from your vantage point uh well you know he got to the free throw line some i don’t think he had gotten to the free throw line at all in the first half um fouls were an issue um look he’s a great player that’s the other issue you know he’s he’s uh he’s the MVP and so uh we had a couple of of good stands against him there was one time he tried to split um you know a double team and we came up with a ball but then I don’t I don’t remember if we converted or not you know so look we had some we had some terrific opportunities um that we did cash in on you know in the third quarter um and some late third quarter that we did not that that would have made um would have made it tougher on them going into the fourth quarter but hey you’re up seven at home um you got to dig in and find a way and and we were just uh we were unable to do it tonight standing in the back left hey coach open court basketball Germany um how much or how beautiful is that to see when we see the last game um Benedict is the one stepping up today obi Toppin even though it’s a loss but to see that doesn’t matter like there’s always someone who’s the next and comes up with the points you need yeah you know we’re we’re put together really probably unlike any other team in the NBA in terms of our dependence on one another and you know you can look at the stats and you know individual guys having big nights is is a big part of success um but with us you know the the thing that works for us is balance a lot of guys involved a lot of guys um a lot of guys passing it you know a spirit that is um that is evident that is positive and uh you know regardless of whether things are going good or bad and so um look Obie Kobe did some terrific things tonight ben was great last game um you know next game we’re going to have to have more guys step forward last question up front uh Rick Thunder had three three-pointers the whole game they had one like in the end of third quarter they only had one you guys were leading as you had nine 10 more than 10 points lead and you lost the game how much does it hurt and you as a co as a a champion as you had in tough situation you been in tough situations before uh how do you motivate the guys to not let that that loss sting for the next next 48 hours yeah i we’re going to look at the film tomorrow and then travel um you know they had 38 free throws and that was a problem um they made 34 out of 38 we had 33 and made 25 you know they missed four we we missed eight you know those the difference of four is is significant you know um there’s a lot of little things going on um but it it’s this series is going to come down to the basics and our our inability to effectively rebound when we needed to um is the biggest thing you know 43 to 33 and a bunch of uh second chance points um you know made it made it difficult and and in the end impossible so uh we got to bounce back um I don’t need to motivate these guys i think I think they they have a a sense of where they are um but you know this kind of a challenge is going to have extreme highs and extreme lows and this is a low right now and we’re gonna have to bounce back from it pascal what did the fourth quarter feel like you guys missed all of your three-point attempts you didn’t You only got up one shot what What did they do to be disruptive in that fourth um I mean I thought we took some shots i mean we missed them like you said um they made shots um they went to the free throw line a lot of times um and and yeah like we just didn’t we just didn’t execute at the end of the game um we didn’t get easy shots i mean and the easy shots that we got we missed them so um and and they made them next question second row here zach Kefir with the Athletic pascal um Carile said you guys just got stagnant on offense i’m curious if you would agree with that late in the fourth quarter you guys have been so good in those moments throughout the postseason would you agree that it just kind of got discombobulated at the end uh I mean I think we didn’t we didn’t we didn’t execute well i think I think um and again we we missed some shots so um obviously that looks away you know when when you miss shots so it always looks like you know we didn’t we didn’t do what we’re supposed to do but um we watch the film and and try to get better back right on one pascal rick said this was a big disappointment how do you assess this loss in in terms of disappointment yeah no obviously we wanted to win um we I thought we played well enough for for some stretches of the game to put ourselves in a position to win but um yeah unfortunately it didn’t happen and and um yeah like I think every loss at this point is it’s a it’s a disappointment back row on the left Samantha Horton with WFY Public Media with the series now tied and a win necessary on the road I guess can you talk about that mindset you’re the team’s going to have to go into to accomplish that yeah well we got to we got to go out there i mean we’ve we’ve we’ve won some games on the road before so um I think we just got to go out there with our with our confidence um continue to like I said we watch what we did wrong and um trying to get better at those things and and at at the end of it you know like we just got to um go out there and and um and again do things that we we’ve done in the past and so we have that confidence that we can do it so um it’s going to take a lot and it’s going to be hard but um I think you know we have the group capable of doing that again on your left Pascal so this is obviously an offense that we see features a lot of different players and you can come in and out of being featured this has happened to you in the past but typically you’re still guarded by a really high level check on the other side when you see the offense move elsewhere on the floor what are you looking to do to impact in ways even if you’re not exactly involved in an action uh I mean I think just continue to move um cut um I think like I said our our team is unique in the fact that you know we can just play but um so yeah just trying to find ways teams out there and um make plays rebound like um and and again like I think it’s it’s easy to just look at it you know like when we lose a game and we miss some shots and it’s like you know so but it doesn’t matter i think we we’ve done um is just like rebounding um turnovers like there’s so many things in the game that um we just didn’t do right um and and it came at the right moment they made the right plays and they won the game anyone with a final question last one in the middle you have four steals in the first in the first quarter how do you manage to get those balls so fast so quick um um just trying to be active um and and and again um just we trying to play team defense and and and to me like I mean I think I don’t know it might be luck but um just be in the right place at the right at the right time but um so yeah James boy the athletic tie in the fourth quarter only one assist 20 20 assists in the first three quarters why do you think it got so stagnant late and what did they do perhaps differently to affect the game so much yeah we got to do a better job I got to do a better job of keeping pace in the game um thought I did a much better job of that last game you know especially down the stretch keeping pace getting rebounds and really pushing um you know think we got to do a better job of when we do get stops getting out and running um you know a lot of times in that fourth you know we were fouling too much taking the ball out having to you know kind of run something versus um you know just excuse me just random basketball so um I got to do a better job there uh watch film see where I can get better um but yeah that’s on me i got I got to get us playing faster down the stretch and uh you know I’ll uh I’ll be better game five tony up front terry you’re up four with just three minutes to go in the finals give that one away how do you feel right now how does that one sit with you uh it’s frustrating of course you know you want to win that game um you know especially a game at home where like you said you have to lead late um you know but that’s just not how the cookie crumbled today you know and so uh take a shower watch film see where we can get better and be ready to go for game five um you know I feel like uh myself personally I could be a lot better for us as a as a group and um you know we just got to get more stops down the stretch you know 17-point fourth quarter um you know after the offensive success we had all game um I think is really uh you know shows we got to do a better job moving the ball and I think that starts with me so um yeah we got to be ready to go game five um you know obviously going into a hostile environment we got to be ready to play and uh you know for us to uh to win we’re going to have to win one down there so um you know we got to be we got to be ready to go and um you know we got a couple days to sit on this watch film see where we can get better and uh yeah I’m excited about the challenge jamal Jamal Collier from ESPN uh the first three quarters you guys what did you like about the defensive effort that you guys had especially on Shay um I think he had he didn’t have an assist in the game and then kind of what do you think also allowed him to get loose late in the fourth quarter yeah I thought we did a great job of mixing things up um you know Drew obviously did a great job um stepping his minutes uh doublea i think we’re just trying to make it as tough as we can on him uh we got to do a better job of not fouling you know I think that’s you know where where um you know a lot of our mistakes came uh but I I thought we did a I thought we did a good job but you know he still ends with 35 you know he’s a tough cover so uh you know we just got to you know collectively keep making it hard on them um keep rebounding and running all the way here on the left tim Reynolds AP Tyrese Rick has been saying since the start of the series that it’s an 18-day thing and it’s almost like he’s been planting the seed that this is going to go for a while how important is that mindset as it turns out now that you know it’s going to go at least six yeah um you know I think as a team you just got to be ready to respond you know um every game is different you know uh you just got to be able to respond when uh when your back’s against the wall and that’s here we are that’s where we are right now um you know so obviously it’s a frustrating loss but as a group you know I uh still have a lot of confidence in in in ourselves as a group um you know we got to be ready to go down there and uh you know and fight for 48 minutes you know it’s going to be challenged but um you know this group has been resilient all year and wouldn’t want to go to war with any other any other group so I’m uh I’m really excited about game five dustin Dustin Deak Indianapolis star you obviously talked about what you feel like you guys could have done better in the fourth quarter but what how did you see them dial it up especially defensively and what did you see them kind of make a point to take away yeah I thought they uh they went more to that you know the small the four guard lineup uh you know that got us stagnant there um you know but I still think there’s a lot of areas for us to uh you know to get better felt like we got some good looks just missed some good looks um you know so again watch film see if we can get better guys will be ready to respond in a couple days anyone else with a final question back right hold on hey Darice in the second quarter quarter when you got that and one you celebrated after making that free throw how much of that was more a frustration of not getting calls or just being getting that call for the free throw yeah I think we’re just um you know through the course of the game we just got to continue to you know to to play and get downhill you know I think the the paint is our friend you know when we’re when we’re really getting in the paint you know everything kind of opens up so um obviously I haven’t that was my first free throw of the the series so just was uh you know excited about that and I think as a as a group we just got to keep getting downhill you know the pain is our friend we can play from the inside out you know the better we are so um yeah like I said watch the film see where we can get better and uh be ready to go in a couple
