Cooper Flagg will play some GUARD for the Dallas Mavericks, per Jason Kidd

as many of you know it is flag day and so I sat down i started to think about the flag that is most important to me in my life right now and yeah that is Cooper Flag and so I started to think about something that Jason Kid said recently he was on with the DLS guys our friends on their show and he talked about how he could see a jumbo lineup where Cooper Flag plays the two plays guard plays like a shooting guard in the NBA and this is kind of weird because he’s you know 69 has defends the rim really well he has a lot of really you know a lot of big man skills but he also has a lot of guard skills and I could see this actually making sense i think Jason Kid is right about this that he could place him too because yes while he does have the size of like actual centers in the NBA you see his height there and you see his standing reach at the combine measured just under 68 and then an 810 standing reach basically the same numbers as Kabalan Looney Wendell Carter Xavier Tilman Precious Aua these are actual centers in the NBA now they’re kind of smaller centers but they still play center brandon Clark Isaiah Stewart guys that have played center as well you look at Pascal Seakum who’s playing right now in the the finals he has the size of some of these bigger wings and centers but he also measured with the same or better combine numbers as some of these these great perimeter defenders he had better lane agility than Herb Jones all defensive guy tmani Kamar made second team all defense this year lou Dort made a defensive team uh Case Walls Jayla Williams great defenders some of those other wings he had better lane agility numbers in them shuttle run same kind of thing better than Herb Jones Jani Kamar Lou Dort three/4er court sprint as well he measured some of these athletic numbers better than some of the best defenders in the NBA and that doesn’t mean that he is going to be better than those guys or that even this is a tell- all but he’s in the same class athletically as some of those guys that have proven to become the best defenders in the NBA and so if he has the same athletic numbers as some of these guys size of a center and he’s got the skills that you would want he can defend out on the perimeter with his with his agility he can defend you know guys he can go around screens because he’s got the length as well and he can shoot he can run a pick and roll he can do a lot of things that you’ll want a two guard to do and I could see the Mavericks have you know a guard or Brandon Williams start Cooper Flag play next to him and then you have PJ Wash Anthony Davis and Derek Lively they wouldn’t start that lineup maybe but they would play that in certain you know certain spurts and then he would be the two guard i could also see him playing two next to Klay Thompson because positions are fluid it doesn’t really matter what your position is named it’s just what is being asked of you so if he’s being asked to initiate more offense and defend the best perimeter player on the other team he could be classified as a two
