The Philadelphia 76ers MUST Trade The #3 Pick In The 2025 NBA Draft
in a disastrous season to say the least the Philadelphia 76ers returned to their roots and locked in once the season became must- lose finishing 7 and 31 to end the season and securing the number three overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft this stretch was so important because the Sixers pick was top six protected meaning that if it were to have fell to seven or below which even with this near half season stretch still had around a 40% chance of happening they would have lost the pick alltogether to Oklahoma City you’re welcome NBA the Sixers appear dead in the water having a lot of potential to lose their pick combined with you know the rest of the situation but having this pick has injected a lot of life while Joel Embiid’s health is obviously still up in the air this pick gives them a chance to add to their young core which already includes Tyrese Maxi Jared McCain and Quentyn Grimes along with guys who have shown real potential in Justin Edwards and a Dembona the number three overall pick is a blessing no matter what considering the circumstances of this lottery that not only did they keep their pick but they moved up a few spots as well but it puts you in an interesting position in my opinion there are two can’t miss prospects in this year’s draft being Cooper Flag and Dylan Harper although there are plenty of good prospects in this class these two are the only ones I think will be surefire superstars new reports have emerged saying these Sixers and Spurs have had conversations around two and three but I am not putting much stock into this it has been said they were more exploratory than anything of real substance however I am skeptical of how Fox Harper and Castle would coexist making the scenario not impossible that being said it would create an interesting situation for the Sixers as well meaning in all likelihood they would have a group of great guards themselves and Harper Maxi McCain and Grimes but with the shooting prowess of three of the four them coexisting was more of a lineup issue than a spacing issue although as I said I am not totally convinced this is an option if it were to be at a reasonable cost I think you have to do it there are other prospects I like in this year’s draft but in terms of superstar potential I think it’s capped at two basically I think the gap between two and three is bigger than the gap between like three and six hence why whether it’s a trade up or trade down I think a trade must happen look Ace Bailey and VJ Edgecom are obviously highly rated prospects who could develop into stars in the right environment if you think they should stand pat and take either one of these guys I can’t blame you all that much as for Ace it’s easy to see what’s to like but it’s also easy to see the other side if the Sixers really think he can become what some think he could that’s great but it’s hard to say he’d be what the Sixers are looking for right now alongside their three stars who are all somewhat challenged as playmakers at times i don’t hate the idea of Ace developing in a lesser role allow Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown to start but I’m not 100% sold on his fit with this group i like VJ Edgecom’s fit better as a basketball player and think he would be better as a role player but although he could definitely guard small forwards in today’s league in some lineups I just don’t love the idea of adding another guard to the core of Tyrese Maxi Jarine and presumably Quentyn Grimes unless it’s still in Harper not only would VJ not get as much opportunity but simultaneously you wouldn’t be maximizing the three guys already there the Sixers need size on the wing and while I think VJ could become a guy who can defend people bigger than him I think the opportunities elsewhere are better as well i really do like VJ though and should they stay at three and Harper go two I think he would be my preference but in that scenario my overall preference would be to trade down i trust the Sixers scouting department at this point and if they feel this is the best path forward I’m not going to hate it but I feel like there are a number of scenarios that could maximize the value of this pick while also keeping you in the mid lottery a lot of this hinges on someone falling in love with Ace Bailey or VJ Edgecom but you’d have to think there will be at least a few teams that are interested in moving up especially if it’s plausible because of how teams like the Wizards and Nets find themselves much lower than I think they would have liked speaking of the Nets that’s the first package I want to discuss keep in mind these are all frameworks and they are obviously somewhat contingent on said team feeling strongly about Ace and or VJ the Nets need to be very very bad and need to take every measure to do so for a multitude of reasons which is something I’ll discuss in a later video about them in short I think the Nets are one of few situations I feel could be very good for Ace Bailey this is because despite the lack of talent on the Nets Jordy Fernandez did so well that a team that was a consensus lock to win less than 20 games ended up near the bottom of the top 10 the reason I think this bodess so well for Ace is because I feel like he needs to be in a place where he is featured but at the same time is in a real system and culture this also bodessed so well for the Nets to me because Ace as a rookie being featured will not be a positively impactful player giving you a year of real development while also helping achieve the main goal or they want VJ and I wrote all this for nothing anyways onto the package and no I will not do this for every team i just think the Nets are the perfect team the framework I have is the Sixers sending Kelly Ubé Andre Drummond the three and 35 picks and some seconds to Brooklyn for Cam Johnson and the eighth and 27th picks the Sixers get a great piece remain in the lottery and move in at the end of the first round while the Nets get a chance to draft a potential franchise cornerstone in a year that could have been truly one of the most pointless seasons ever if the Nets felt like it also they could easily package some of 1926 35 and 36 to move back into the late lottery they also get Andre Drummond and Kelly Ubé who will add to what could be one of the hardest coaching tasks ever being given to Jordi Fernandez if he can find a way to not be bottom five with the kind of roster they could be looking at with a trade like this he’s just the best coach ever enough about the Nets we will get to them at a later date let’s talk about what this could mean for the Sixers being an eight would allow them to still get a great prospect the likes of Colin Murray Boils Kaniple or Kamal Malawatch along with a highquality starter and Cam Johnson plus a late first that if a hit could be huge in their cap situation with Embiid Maxi and PG the Sixers need players more than anything and they could get more depth while simultaneously getting a potentially better prospect than the guys at three if you think Ace and or VJ have superstar potential I understand why you would want them and that makes sense as I’ve said I’m not sold on either of them being superstars or their fits here and there are opportunities to potentially draft a highquality starter while also acquiring another one anyways onto the next one there are three proposals with the New Orleans Pelicans who are rumored to be willing to trade anyone on their roster trading for three would give them the opportunity to draft who they believe could be a future franchise cornerstone for their presumed reset while in one of these scenarios keeping their number seven pick first scenario the Sixers trade Paul George Ricky Councel the third pick the 35th pick along with the 2028 Clippers pick and 2029 Clipper swap and potentially additional draft capital for Herb Jones Trey Murphy and Jose Alvarado so just look at it as if said team thinks he’s a Dylan Harper level prospect this trade allows the Sixers to acquire two highquality perfect fitting starters one in Trey Murphy with real star potential while also getting off the worst contract in basketball this trade allows the Pelicans to reset around the number three and number seven overall picks while also acquiring two valuable future assets that could be useful right as they’re starting to contend the next package which is still centered around the Pelicans and Sixers is where we start getting a little wacky though just hear me out here it is and I want to explain the rationale for each team for the Pelicans this gives you a boatload of draft capital along with no long-term money the Sixers acquire Trey Terrence Man and more tradable salary as for the Hawks they express interest in PG at the deadline and get him for next to nothing they trade T-man Nyang Buffkin and 22 for PG and then swap a Kong Woo for Mark Williams to make money work as for the Hornets they have obviously wanted to move off Mark due to his injury issues and they get a good center replacement for him on a good contract who also has chemistry with LaMelo and Mark is also due for an extension this is obviously wacky and has next to zero chance of happening but assuming the Hawks would still be interested in PG who says no i greatly overcomplicated things for no reason as I did with the proposal you will be seeing shortly but a much simpler deal with New Orleans is trading UB Drummond three and 35 for Herb 7 and a future first next up we have the Sixers and Jazz and this one is pretty simple sixers trade PG 3 and 35 along with additional seconds for Lori 5 and 43 again if the Jazz love Ace or VJ this gives them the opportunity to get a potential cornerstone in a year that looked lost while also getting PG’s contract compared to Lor’s that has an additional year if they aren’t as confident in Lori as they were and very confident in Acer VJ I think this is plausible now we have the Sixers and Suns and hear me out here believe it or not the main thing holding this up would probably be the Sixers not trading the third pick for a 36-y old which I can’t really disagree with but it would be insane for obvious reasons the framework I have is trading PG3 and 35 for KD 29 in a 2029 pick that is certain to be at the end of the first round if you think Phoenix wouldn’t do this I hate to break it to you 36-year-old KD’s value isn’t as high as you think and getting the third overall pick would be a dream for Phoenix this could allow them to trade Booker to Houston for their picks back and a hall of other picks and players and somehow be in a prime position to rebuild even if they wanted to keep Booker this would still be a dream them being in position to add another superstar next to Booker isn’t even a discussion and they could potentially get their next franchise face while also adding a guy that if healthy should be able to do something right as for the Sixers as I said this won’t happen for the optics of trading the three pick for a 36-year-old but you can’t tell me it wouldn’t be crazy and although he is 36 I feel like KD is going to stick around for a while and be a highly productive player while doing so next up we have the Wizards who after being historically bad fell all the way to six this trade allows them to move up to three while adding additional draft capital and taking on money that will help you reach the salary floor while also being bad and being able to give your young guys the keys as for the Sixers you remain just outside the top five and get a midfirst while also acquiring three potentially good to great players and getting off PG steel middleton is obviously a question mark but if he were to be healthy he could be a good contributor cory Kpert seems like a surefire great fit and despite some form of guard log jam Marcus Mark could provide playmaking and perimeter defense both of which the Sixers are lacking you also get pick six and 18 both of which could be instant rotation guys and all of a sudden you could potentially have five contributors including a young potential star while giving up the worst contract in basketball and a negative player there’s also a much much simpler transaction being Uber Drummond 3 and35 for Kisspert 618 and additional draft capital i have zero clue why I went to that insane package before this one but at this point it was hard to find teams that could be interested in moving up and due to that the packages are a little wacky but from a pure value perspective I believe reasonable next up we have the Portland Trailblazers moving up to three and the Magic acquiring their muchneeded perimeter creator and Anthony Simons i’ll go through the rationale for all sides as for the Sixers this is a very depth focused deal you receive Goa Patad who could be a highquality backup big on a good contract and a quality fill-in for Embiid when he inevitably misses time embiid off the court has been the death of the Sixers since he has led the way and this could be someone who could fix that issue and provide more relief for Embiid you also get Gary Harris who I valued as next to nothing in the return but who in theory could be a 3 and D piece best case scenario the bulk of this return is the number 11 16 and 25 picks along with the Bucks 2028 swap this allows you to build immense depth or package picks for another lottery pick while also acquiring a potentially valuable asset the Blazers are moving up here and they basically trade 11 the Buck Swap and Anthony Simons for three they get back KCP Uber and Ricky Council the first two of which are negative contracts at this juncture but do have potential to be contributors notably KCP they get to draft high in a season that like many other teams was kind of bad for nothing orlando gives up KCP Goa Gary 16 25 and 58 to receive Anthony Simon’s Drummond and 35 they get their muchneeded perimeter creator who also won’t command as much money on an upcoming extension as some other guys rumored and still have some semblance of a draft pick while the packages could be completely different and involve completely different teams I think this illustrates my point as to why this pick should be moved there are a multitude of scenarios where the Sixers could still add a lottery level prospect while also gaining either quality players who are on the right side of 30 additional draft capital or both the Sixers approach with this really comes down to how confident they are in Joel Embiid returning to the floor somewhat consistently despite all the obituaries written for his career as of late this is still a guy who is a little over a year removed from putting up 3311 and six in a playoff series against a great defense while not being able to see or run the Sixers are in a peculiar spot with Embiid and PG’s contract only adds to this if they were to try and trade him they wouldn’t get near decent value and also would likely regardless be left with PG this is why the three pick is such a blessing because it allows the Sixers the opportunity to have an eye on the future adding to their already solid young core while simultaneously being able to take a chance with Hood Embiid could have left to give as I said their approach with this pick relies heavily upon what they think the near future outlook for Joel is along with if they really think Ace Bailey has superstar potential as I’ve also said if you think Ace Bailey is a surefire superstar he’s obviously the pick for you but if not or if you could take advantage of a team who thinks he is I think moving the pick is the right direction to take the reality of the situation is that your best shot at being a real contender anytime soon will still be with Joel Embiid even with the uncertainty around his situation currently for the Sixers to acquire a talent anywhere near Embiid’s level even when he is hobbled a complete tear down would be necessary and that would have to include moving Tyrese Maxi i love Tyrese and he’s a great player but I hate to break the news building around Maxi would more likely result in not making the playoffs than truly contending for anything if the Sixers can find a situation where they can both still get a top tier prospect while bolstering the team for the here and now I think this is the perfect outcome everyone loves to focus on the best case scenario which I get but a handful of guys in the mid lottery range having better careers than Ace is just as likely as Ace becoming that transcendent superstar my biggest fear and what I feel like is just bound to happen is that if Philly takes Ace he’ll be Kyle Koosma but if he ends up somewhere else he’s going to be Kevin Durant and if this is a situation I have no clue if you’d rather take him or not it’s going to wrap this one up if y’all did enjoy please do like up sub the channel let me know down below what do y’all think they should do do you think they should trade it are you team Ace are you team VJ are you team trade up or you team trade down you know like there there’s a there’s a whole lot of perspectives uh within this fan base right now and it’s very very interesting to see uh again right there’s obviously a you know the guard log jam stuff is real uh it is a mildly unfortunate but I do think you know you could roll out there with you know in some I mean right like we see you know although they shouldn’t be doing this and they should be running hard and signing chat more to take advantage of the size right now in the NBA finals you know the Thunder are starting you know Shay a Dort and Cassan Wallace and then you know Jaylen Williams at the four so you know with the way the NBA is moving uh you know it’s not ridiculous to say that you could have you know you know two of Maxi Grimes and McCain along with VJ or Harper on the court at the same time in a good amount of lineups and be effective but you know it’s just not as again if you can move up for Harper I think you do vj I like him but if you can move down and get Herb Jones and Conanipple or something I I I think that’s so much of a better outcome honestly um again obviously if you think VJ can become a star that’s great i again he does a lot of things very well um but I think he could become a very very very good role player like a you know and you know I think like the somewhat mildly decent best case scenario is like a Derek White caliber player obviously he plays nothing like Derek White but I mean a guy who’s you know just sub allstar level but kind of gives you just about everything out there on the court again obviously they’re very different players i’m speaking in terms of caliber of player not play style but anyways it’s officially going to wrap this one up if y’all did enjoy please do like it up sub the channel would appreciate it a ton and I will catch youall on the next one pace

Kon is not even George Niang. Stop it, casual
My problem is what if embiid isn’t healthy getting role players would be for nothing. We haven’t heard anything about his recovery so I think it’s risky and I don’t think embiid would ever be healthy again. I think he’s going to be a liability on defence for the rest of his career since just jumping could get him injured
No team. I repeat no team. No matter who they are… have to trade a number 3 overall pick for any reason.
Just keep Ace.
