this is insane every time we think we know who the top candidate to be the next coach of this Knicks team is it keeps on changing at first it was Jason Kid then Jason Kid’s not available anymore and now according to the latest reports Jason Kid could still be in play for this Knicks team we’re going to break down all of these latest reports today but before we get started about 52% of you next head coach they are currently setting up interviews with different head coach candidates for this week and two of them we already know Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown however some other coaching candidates that we removed from the list could be back on the table for New York let’s break down these latest reports and see exactly what coaching candidates could still be available for the Knicks shout out to New York basketball on the app X for giving us this following information here this info is coming from News Day’s Steve Pauper according to him a person with knowledge of the process said that Jason Kidd and Billy Donovan remained a possibility and Kid is still possibly the favorite you guys know me after seeing this report I needed to get more information and thankfully Steve Pauper with News Day was able to give us that information let’s see exactly what the Knicks are doing in their coaching search according to Steve Popper a league source indicated that some of the teams declined to allow the Knicks to speak to their coaches might not be the final step but perhaps just a negotiation roadblock and another person with knowledge of the process said that Jason Kidd and Billy Donovan remained a possibility and Kidd is still possibly the favorite it’s just as when the team went through 13 interviews 5 years ago when Tom Thibido was the first choice all along but if the Knicks can’t break through those obstacles with Jason Kid or Billy Donovan or those two don’t get raises in their current jobs the Knicks could opt to settle for a coach who is already available and clearly they already know they have two interviews set up with coaches like that Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown popper continues here by stating “The Knicks have become the butt of the jokes in recent days as they have asked for permission to speak to a number of coaches under contract houston’s Eay Udoka Minnesota’s Chris Finch Dallas’s Jason Kidd Atlanta’s Quinn Snider and Chicago’s Billy Donovan and were rebuffed in each case a team source insisted this was part of due diligence inquiring about the availability of all coaches who interest them and that it was just a part of a list being compiled along with unemployed coaches college coaches and assistants the Knicks still clearly believe that Billy Donovan or Jason Kidd could still be available for the head coach position however at this point it does seem like they’re leaning a little bit more toward Jason Kidd but the ironic part of that entire thing is the first time that the Knicks requested permission to interview Jason Kidd they were denied but according to Brian Winhorse they weren’t only denied they were heavily firmly rejected and were told never never to call back let’s see exactly what Brian Winhorse had to say about this situation shout out to New York basketball on the app X for giving us this following information here according to them Brian Winhorse on threads Mavericks are not interested in further negotiations at all with the New York Knicks don’t even call back is the message that the Mavericks wanted to get out there if it’s an easy process then the Knicks should go out there and get Jason Kidd as their next head coach but if it’s causing more issues than helping then let’s go with the plan of interviewing Jenkins and Brown plus the other people that we’re going to interview other college coaches assistant coaches and all of the like let’s make sure we do our due diligence and interview all possible candidates who are available and interested in this Knicks head coaching job but honestly speaking Jason Kid sounds like a dream that’s not going to happen it honestly sounds like Jason Kid is trying to flip the situation to get paid more same thing with Billy Donovan so in my opinion those two are not realistic options at this point the only realistic options right now at least according to all the reports that we’ve seen is Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown and some of the reports are currently indicating that Mike Brown potentially could be the favorite couple of reasons for that defensive mindset as a coach the Knicks need more defense as a team his ability and willingness to use the starters and the bench unit he can do that as well too but here’s the thing it’s about experience and accountability and New York heavily believes that Mike Brown or really Taylor Jenkins can offer that but Brown he’s about 15 years older than Taylor Jenkins a lot more experience and if New York feels they’re this close from an NBA title and all they need is a new voice hiring Mike Brown might be the perfect option however with Leon Rose in this Knicks front office one thing we know for certain is that they want to make championship level moves thibido was fired why they want a new voice but also because they want to make championship level moves and part of that is improving this roster but you can’t do that you can’t improve the roster until you get input from your head coach and you don’t have one right now so we have to go in order first you get the head coach then you make roster adjustments and maybe if it’s available and out there and makes sense maybe you make a trade a blockbuster trade get another player in here that helps what the Knicks are trying to build in the future and maybe that’s the moves the championship level moves that we’re going to be seeing over the course of the next few months the greatest part of this entire process is that the Knicks have all the time in the world they don’t have to rush anything they want to take a week okay they want to take four weeks okay they want to take seven weeks it’s fine we’re in the off season they’re doing their due diligence don’t rush the process take your time and make sure the next head coach of this team is not only the right head coach but the new voice that will lead this franchise into the future and a future that I hope is filled with NBA final appearances and championships because that is what this city needs we are desperate 50 plus years we haven’t won any titles any championships this is what we need this is what we want we need to make the right moves and it starts with the right head coach and Leon Rose in this Knicks front office i am trusting them to get this process right mike Brown Taylor Jenkins or maybe another possibility that nobody is thinking of either way that’s the next move for this team and that will be a championship level move leon Rose and this Knicks front office they’re keeping all their cards to their vest right now nobody knows what they’re going to do and honestly as a fan of this franchise basically for my entire life I love that nobody can predict the Knicks and that is power for New York power that they can
