So sketch, first they trade the MVP who took an unlikely Mavs to the finals to nobody else but the showtime Lakers unannounced out of nowhere. Only one guy from the Mavs side was in on the trade. Everything was behind closed doors. Then they get the number 1 pick with 1.5% odds. Now all the commentators are giving the same narrative “look at what Nico has “done” he may even be a hero now” This is blasphemy. Since when did the media praise GMs for getting the number one pick.
Ace Bailey, and DO NOT trade our pick, or trade down — develop something for once, and take a note out of the books of successful teams who have done it like Boston, Denver, OKC, etc.
Everything isn’t “win-now”, clearly, based off the roster construction failures of this past season, AND, Embiid isn’t likely to return to the best version of himself, so building around him with win-now moves doesn’t make sense anymore. We’re in Maxey’s era now, planning for the future and youth timeline alongside McCain and Grimes — so build some chemistry and continuity like Embiid was saying, instead of constant changes that don’t work — give the youth some PLAYING TIME NICK NURSE, the vets are old, past prime, and delivering low production — so just coast out of the Embiid and PG eras for whatever help they can service until they retire into our full rebuild. ((But if a PG trade opens up with value and he’s still playing inconsistently and not up to his max contract then make that happen.))
