All Signs Point to this… (and I hate it)

all signs point to this as RJ Barrett’s future with the Toronto Raptors is now in question as we’ve heard a ton of buzz about Messiah Jerry trying to improve the roster in his final year of his contract with big names like Giannis KD being targets for the Toronto Raptors this offseason of course RJ Barrett’s salary would have to be used in one of those blockbuster deals and that’s no shock to anyone but now there is a lot of discourse going around about RJ Barrett’s contract being dealt away regardless if the Toronto Raptors are able to land one of the big fish out there in the NBA or not because a lot of people have accepted the fact okay you deal away some of these pieces if you’re able to land a superstar if you’re able to land again one of those big fish it’s the term that’s been used a ton based off of this report from Brian Winhorse some people don’t remember what it is so I’ll bring it up again basically Brian Winhorse came out and said that since it’s come up the Raptors are a team that started to make a lot of noise within the league about looking for a big fish in the context of these Giannises and Kevin Durant and these types of players but now RJ Barrett’s name is being brought up in a lot of conversations that don’t entail the Raptors landing a top pick which is not what we are looking for in terms of a future for RJ Barrett and I have been outspoken i want to come out here on this vid because I see this on Twitter i’m back on Twitter so I’m seeing getting a more of a dose of it here now so check out Raptors Digest on Twitter if you are using X Twitter and want your daily Raptors news but I’m starting a movement here folks i am starting something out here on this channel i want to spread across Raptors land across the NBA i want this team to keep RJ we are pushing this movement we are starting the riots to restart everything in terms of making sure RJ Barrett stays at this Toronto Raptor team if he’s not dealt away from a superstar because frankly I am just frustrated with all the reports everything that’s coming out as of late and basically I’ve been sent a ton of these uh this report like four times over over the past 24 hours in terms of what has really escalated this dis discourse over the past little while basically Evan Sederi came out and said that the Raptors appear to open to trading RJ Barrett as they plan to prioritize Scotty Barnes Brandon Ingram and Grady Dick as their starting wing trio moving forward so this is something that’s really added fuel to the fire and all of the RJ Bear discourse beyond all of the buzz that we’ve already heard in regards to the you know KD trade rumors the Giannis trade rumors whatever the heck it is that people are discussing and this is uh you know fired up a lot of Toronto Raptors fans of course the Raptor salary situation is the reason why RJ Barrett is being talked about in these discussions and you know these situations as even though he’s making less money than Emanuel Quickley and stuff given the fact the Raptors have a lot of these combo guards and Grady Dick and Oiabaji and Jacobe Walter that can play that position and even guys in the wing like Jameson Battle that are going to be out there in the mix and RG Bear’s a bit more expensive and you already gave that investment to Emanuel Quickley long term you don’t really have unless you’re a shed head like me who I am a believer in Jamal shed i would not be remissed i would not be that frustrated if I can find the animation here now at this point but uh if Jamal shed got some more minutes and there we go the shed heads would be pretty fired up if uh Jamal Shed was getting more minutes and more run out there next season but basically there’s no real other option out there at the point guard spot unless Darker Rayovich wants to get weird with Scotty Barnes running the PG position but of course Scotty Barnes for as amazing of a playmaker as he is has struggled with turnovers at points in his career so RJ Barrett’s the name that if the Raptors cuz we’re really teetering on the the brink of that luxury tax given our salary cap this upcoming season getting the ninth overall pick does help that versus you know top one pick a top three pick but I digress rj Barrett’s kind of been the odd man out and this is not unsubstantiary as essentially we’ve seen this since the trade deadline mike Scott came out and said “With the Toronto Raptors envisioning a front court of Scotty Barnes and newly extended Brandon Ingram along with former lottery pick Brady Dick at shooting guard where does that leave current leading score RJ Barrett’s future based on conversations before the deadline RJ Barrett could be a trade candidate to monitor monitor this summer.” Barrett was discussed in trade talks for Ingram with New Orleans but the Pelicans preferred the expiring contract of Bruce Brown and stretch five center Kelly Oolen who’s owed $13.4 million next season league sources have told Hoopite with Trey Murphy the third and Herb Jones already on the wing the Pelicans didn’t view Barrett as a suitable fit for their roster as talks would have necessitated finding a third team sources have said so this is buzz we also had some chatter about Mark Stein essentially echoing the same stuff from Evans Evan Cedari and Mike Scottto has really frustrated me about all this discourse regarding RJ Barrett you’ve probably seen that that little trait they get tweaked up like RJ Barrett’s being talked about as like a salary dump piece and this is what my whole rant was about yesterday in terms of again I’m not disagreeing with anyone and saying Desmond Bane is a better player than RJ Barrett is right now there’s no real solidified argument to it yes their stats are very very similar rj Barrett this season 21.1 points per game 6.3 rebounds 5.4 assists he shoots close as a three-point percentage 35% but on a lower volume is a better corner like spot-up shooter so 40% from the three-point line and essentially Desmond Bane was in the low 30s so RJ Barrett’s a better slasher but Desmond Bane is a better like movement shooter and better defender but Desmond Bane just netted the Memphis Grizzlies four first round picks and one pick swap and two like again KCP’s contract is a negative but you know not not serious value like he was a salary dump more than an asset acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies so that is one thing to really look at in terms of the market for a guy swingingman the caliber of an RJ Barrett again RJ Barrett is a terrible low but he’s not that you know Gap isn’t that different the way the discourse has been going about RJ Barrett because we well firstly the one that like the ones some of these trades that are going out they’ll never happen I trust Mia Jerry full faith but this is kind of the discourse that’s going around with trade talks for RJ Barrett right Desmond Bane nets you what four four first unprotected first and one pick swap and then the Raptors get Marcus Smart and a 2026 second round pick for RJ Barrett like this is the buzz this is the chatter this is the dis discussions that are being tossed her out of the rumor mill for RJ Barrett like again this one’s coming from Bleach Report that is absolutely idiotic and stupid and you know in terms of the chatter buzz that’s happening at this point and again for Giannis I I’ll wave my cap i’ll My RJ Bear jerseys hanging up behind me i’m an RJ Bear homer i’m aware to it again that’s why I’m starting this movement i’m going to bring up this animation a ton i do not want to see RJ Bear trade it but of course in these big blockbuster scenarios where you land a Giannis onto Takumbo if you’re not going to extend RJ Bear to the future you land a player of the caliber of Kevin Durant even if it’s just for a few seasons you can look at that be disappointed that you gave up on an asset but at least you have something really excited about having a top 20 player all time join your team but in the other chats like even the chat where where the Raptors are kind of getting in the mix for this Kevin Durant sweep stakes as Chris Davis is bringing up as essentially you know there’s a lot of buzz in the screenshot here now at this point but you see at the top a Kevin Durant trade is nearing potentially within hours miami talks have stalled but Minnesota’s emerged as aggressive suitor prepared to offer multiple key players picks and prospects toronto and Brooklyn are among the teams facilitating the deal so the Raptors are a team that’s being named as like a facilitator in some of these trade discussions and facilitator doesn’t mean you land a Giannis a KD it means we land someone like average someone basic someone that’s not at that elite level and the Raptors are under the luxury tax here now at this point and of course this might become a problem in the future when you do have to extend a Grady Dick when you do have to extend Yo Jacobe Walter all these contracts end up coming into play and I understand that but I want to see how this Raptors team looks going into next season with RJ Barrett at the helm that’s just something I I want to see not the helm Scotty Burns at the helm but this core group of IQ RJ Barrett Scotty Burns Brandon Ingram Yaka Purle and then the elite bench that we have and Jamal Shed and Grady Dick and Jacobe Walter and Jonathan Mo yo Jameson Battle what whoever we select with the ninth overall selection i want to see what that team looks like i don’t want to come out and blow it up or do some idiotic trade and getting rid of RJ Barrett before you have to see what you have and then if RJ Barrett continues the trajectory because he was our best player last season that’s the reality of he was our most consistent scorer he was our most consistent playmaker of course injuries had a part to play in that with IQ scotty Barnes being and out of the lineup especially at the beginning of the year scotty Barnes having a wrist injury at the back half of last season but that doesn’t take away from the fact that RJ Barrett was our guy last year i’m not saying he’s our most talented player i’m not saying this I’m not saying that but he is not the piece that should just be dangled or like salary dumped or anything like that based off the body of work that we’ve seen so I want to see RJ Barrett stay i’m continuing to start this movement this push to keep RJ Barrett out here on the roster we got to aggregate together we got to come together folks as a community and keep RJ Barrett on the Steam especially if all the trade offers are going to be as dismal as uh the stuff that’s being brought up so let me know what you guys think about all this in the comments section down below you guys the best thing as far subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already again I do want to clarify if we do get like offered five first round picks or something for RJ you know there’s situations where you move them but a lot of the chatter buzz regarding RJ Barrett in terms of his value out there in the open market these are things I desperately want to stay away from so let me know what you guys think about all this in the comments section down below you guys the best i’m signing out cheers

  1. I agree. I am probably biased, but I don't want to trade him unless it's for a superstar. Even then, I would rather deal Quickley.

  2. If anything I see RJ going back to Phoenix or another team, maybe Miami. And we bet a first round pick. Miami has the 20th pick I believe in this draft. There will be tons of talent still on the board DEEP into the 20’s

  3. All signs point to Barrett being highly valuable after the season he had last year and we should not b giving up on the chemistry him and Scotty developed alrdy

  4. You can’t pay RJ big money because he doesn’t defend and it’s rear to see him make 2 free throws. Despite what some may think those are bigger issues than even Demar’s game. At least Demar was making his free throws. Why do you think they keep trying to trade him ? It’s the the money he’s going to be making and the holes in his game! It has nothing to with his ability to give you 20-23 points per game. Demar gave us more than that per game and we still had to trade him to win. Some players just have issues with their game that’s problematic when it comes to their ability to get you deep into the playoffs. The raptors staff likely see those issues in RJ’s game for the money he’s going to be making. Demar, Julius Randle are guys like that are these type of players. They can give you big numbers but you’re not winning with them as your top options … See if RJ was a 6 man making less money then that’s a different story but if he’s a top end player on this team and you’re not winning a championship with the holes in his game. Stop asking why are they trying to trade him. They see issues to his game some of you are overlooking because you can’t look past him being Canadian. .

  5. I’d be fine with trading RJ. We’re super over bloated at the wing with 6 different guys who deserve minutes and shots. We’re also way too expensive to not be a genuine contender. I like RJ and he’s been great but that’s just the reality of it. We should be trying to move him, even if it’s just for a couple draft picks. I’d be fine moving him for a backup centre or cheaper/expiring contract, a first round pick and a pick swap or 2 second round picks. We can’t really compare Desmond Bane’s trade offer to what we could get for RJ. Every situation is different and the Magic were both desperate to improve their shooting and didn’t want to give up any of their depth pieces so they made up for players by using picks. No one is going to offer us that much, there just isn’t a team that desperate for RJ’s skill set. If we’re going to trade him eventually anyways, we should do it now when his value is highest. He’s still young, on a decently long contract, and coming off the best season of his career. If we’re starting Gradey instead going forward, I can promise you his trade value will plummet with him coming off the bench. Toronto has made the mistake of holding players long after they should’ve traded them already, let’s not keep repeating this cycle. We could’ve been back in the playoffs by now if we didn’t do this with Fred, OG, and Siakam and trading them when it made sense.

  6. Our bench is not elite right now not one is proven to play in the playoffs yet we need 7 proven playoff contributes minimum plus the youth to b saying we have a good bench.

    Grady
    Ochai
    Jacoby
    Mogbo
    Shead
    Battle
    Chomche

Not one of these players has played a single playoff game and they all have liabilities that are major concerns in the playoffs. If our draft pick is guaranteed to b a top 7 contributor it gets us closer to being there with our MLE

  7. I dont even get the KD thing he does not want to be in Toronto, only way we get him is if we overpay and Phoenix says too bad your going to the Raptors, KD serves the year and leaves??? Even if by some miracle we get him for 3 years he is 37, year 3 of that contract could be a Bradley Beal kinda thing. Guy is 40 by the time this mega contract is done. We give up RJ and Poetl, where is out center? Quickly and RJ makes no sense

If you just dumping him go get Walker Kessler and Utah's 21st pick or Sochan from the Spurs and the 14th, or a trade along that lines. A guy up front we save salary and get a pick. Even Giannis I have seen mocks where they strip the team and ask for like 7 first picks??? If Maasi is jumping into the KD thing to help another team and we get asset back fine. I guess we could trade a player to a team Phoenix wants we maybe get a young player back

  8. What in the world is Quickly doing making $32.5 m. That's crazy insane. He is a very average pg. Will never see an all-star invite. Starting to be injury prone a well.

  9. I agree with the other comments. Quickly is the one you trade. He makes more and is always injured. But these trade deals from other markets are ridiculous. They think they can get our players for peanuts.

  10. Raptors paid Brandon Ingram $20 million to sit on the bench for half a season and he doesn't have the money to pay CANADIAN RJ Barett. What does Ujiri have against Canadian players. RJ is the pride of Canadian players. He passes on Shai, Mathuren, Nemhard and Dort and honourary Canadian Pascal. He also wants to get rid of Chris. If you put all of the Canadian players together, you woild have a winning team.

  11. RJ's left handed talent is amazing. He is almost undefendable because of it. I watch defenders try and stop his left handed drive to the net and it is comical on their part.
