Lakers May Benefit From Grizzlies & Magic Trade!
what’s going on everyone so the trade we all kind of were waiting for wasn’t the trade that happened first right the trade we’re all kind of waiting for is the Kevin Durant trade right that the first domino that falls well it wasn’t it was actually Desmond Bane getting sent to the Orlando Magic so I have no idea what the Memphis Grizzlies are doing right like the the package and everything that they got seems like a rebuild which could greatly benefit the Lakers and we’ll touch on that here in a moment um because this is a Laker channel so why are you talking about the Grizzlies and the Orlando trade well I’m going to tell you but just to bring everyone up to speed on what happened with this trade um the Memphis Grizzlies are trading Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic for Contavius Caldwell Pope a Laker favorite uh Cole Anthony four unprotected first round picks and one first round pick swap um and then Shams later reported that Orlando is sending the Memphis Grizzlies the number 16 pick in the 2025 NBA draft phoenix’s first round pick in 2026 magic’s 2028 unprotected first round pick orlando’s 2030 unprotected first uh sources said and Pick Swap is likely protected in 2029 holy overpay Batman right it’s what that was now couple things about that one Desmond Bane is still 26 he’s the exact kind of player that Orlando needs two Orlando didn’t have to give up any key players so to Orlando this might seem like a bit of an overpay but for them this is probably the best thing right like you’re sending out more draft picks while keeping your young core and that depth and that versatility intact right orlando’s a team that you know they’re looking at this as like hey we have a chance here with Boston being down and Cavs shown that they were vulnerable and so on and so forth and Bane is exactly what Orlando wants exactly what Orlando needs so this was huge for them get off of Casey P’s contract which was an overpay for him and he didn’t work out very well for Orlando um where Desmond Bane’s just better self-creator can create for others better right saw an easily into that that point guard or that two spot um so this was huge for them but for the Grizzlies and this is where it impacts the Lakers is the Grizzlies side of things this package makes zero sense unless you’re rebuilding right unless Memphis is making a play for Kevin Durant or something and they’re like “Now we got all these picks and all and basically we could take this package and go get Kevin Durant right?” And then maybe you’re going and keeping KCP and you’re doing something where you know you’re going with like Jaw KCP Kevin Durant Triple J and Zack Edy when he gets back he’s out for some time then sure like if you’re going to go get a Kevin Durant try to go all in now fine but this team already at best is what probably a eighth seed right like I mean they were last year and I don’t think that they’re going to be any better next year right like which is crazy cuz this this was a team that looked like the far team well now they just traded you know their third best player in Desmond Bane right behind Jaw and and Triple J and they got a package that’d be great if you’re rebuilding right the 16th pick and then a bunch of future picks and flexibility you’re taking on KCP’s contract which sucks but like you know it’s like hey you’re getting a young guy in Cole Anthony and like so to me this this package was more of like we’re getting a bunch of picks not more of hey we’re we’re looking to make up a splash right now so is this the precursor that we look back to and that signaled Memphis’s rebuild a guy that I have talked about very heavily recently for the Lakers that I would love to see the Lakers go try to get who has talked about you know loving Lakers in the past what Triple Jiren Jackson Jr go get Jiren Jackson Jr jiren Jackson Jr has uh he’s going into a contract year but more than anything he didn’t qualify for the super max so the money that he would make in Memphis he can now make anywhere right where Memphis is kind of one leg up was hey we can give you the supermax that doesn’t exist anymore so if you’re the Lakers having Triple J and Luca Donic for the foreseeable future would be ridiculous right problem is the Lakers don’t have the picks and Desmond Bane just went for this crazy hall so I know some people are going to look at that and go “Well you know Lakers there’s no way they’d be able to get Triple J if that’s what Desmond Bay went for.” But Lakers give up players right like Austin Ree or they could turn guys into picks right it’s like “Hey you want the picks we turn guys into picks and then give you the expiring contract so you don’t know you maintain flexibility and you go turn if they don’t want like if they want picks over Austin Reeves go turn Austin Reeves into two first.” Right so now there’s three first ruie probably fields you a first from one of these you know one of these teams these contending teams probably get a first for Ruie right you might be able to get a first in you know for you probably could get a first for Connect right so you know all of a sudden you go get four or five first plus the first you have plus the pick swaps boom there you go get your Triple J right and now even if you have to overpay for Triple J slightly boom also here’s day two you got to keep in mind Triple J could just say I only want to go to Lakers he could literally pull an Anthony Davis and go I only want to go to Lakers like yeah I’m on the market anybody can trade for me but just know if you trade for me I’m leaving right and I’m going to go sign with the Lakers and guess what the Lakers could do if they know he’s coming in a year go to Luca and be like “Hey how badly do you want Triple J?” Right because we could go and make a bunch of moves and a bunch of trades and you know what whatever they are or what they are or we can wait a year we just go sign Clint Capella and Brook Lopez to like a one-year deal maintain the cap flexibility and that way you have all this expiring and then we could just go sign Triple J outright in the off season because we’d have you know 120 million falling off the books and we could go sign Triple J and still retain Austin Reeves and you know LeBron James and all that other stuff so you know or do a sign and trade to where they don’t have a choice right so to me I I look at this and I go like this could be good for the Lakers i mean even KCP I wouldn’t hate you know it’s like hey you guys don’t have an like you guys really going to keep KCP maybe get KCP for cheap right cuz he’s a bit of an overpay right he’s a he they gave him too big of a contract but the Lakers are trying to win right now anyway right like so Bakers can’t be choosers so to me it’s like if you can get KCP even though it’s a bit of an overpay you know he’s he’s never had a better year than he did with the Lakers like his best tenure was with the Lakers right but he’s making like 22 million a year so he has this year coming up in which he’s making 21.6 million and then next year where he’s making 21.6 million on a player option he’s not going to turn down that player option cuz he’s not going to make 21 million at year 33 anywhere else so but he’s still 32 right he’s a year removed right i know he didn’t have a great year in Orlando last year but he’s a year removed from being all defense all NBA defense right like so he is still one of the premier 3 and you guys orlando just doesn’t have the shot creation and playmaking that the Lakers would have right kcp slotted alongside Luca LeBron and Austin Reeves was very different than you know Anthony Black and you know uh uh uh well now he’s off the team but like Cole Anthony and stuff like that like it was very different you know Fron and guys like that right like so to me I look at this and I’m like man could you maybe get a KCP they have several young guys too that makes sense maybe you can go pull off a trade and go get some young guys right what direction is Memphis looking is the question if I’m the Lakers picking up the phone or I’m talking to them going like “Hey what are you looking at what are you looking to do right do they trade Jarant?” If I’m the Lakers I would I would stay away from John Morant especially now that you have Luca but you know do they look to trade Jaw that’s kind of been something that has been kind of floated around for a little while you know do they do they trade Jaw do they trade Triple J what do they do but if I’m the Lakers this I already was talking about Triple J watch out he could be an option this makes me feel even more confident that that could end up being an option right don’t be shocked if that just happens out of left field right because Triple J is just like “Hey I want to go to the Lakers send me to the Lakers.” Right especially after they trade Bane does this kind of like make all the players look around and go like “What’s happening?” Also what does this do for the market is the question too again they didn’t give up the players right yeah they gave up a lot of picks but I think teams will look at this and because again that’s always the big question right when that first trade happens it’s like is this the one like the Rudy Goar trade everyone’s like “Wow holy holy overpay Batman right?” Like this is this is clearly going to set the market and everyone’s going to have to overpay for everybody and it didn’t everyone just kind of looked at it and was like “Yeah that was an outlier right?” It happens like every year there’s that outlier trade i think this is more of the outlier trade because Orlando didn’t give up any key players right they just gave up a bunch of picks like you look at a Spurs situation with like the Fox was very similar like they didn’t give up any key players they give up picks and you know Sacramento their pick back so and so forth just kind of how I look at this is that like this was this was instead of including players we’re including we’ll just give you more picks right like we we value the players more than we do the picks so take the picks we’ll take and we’ll just kind of give you this was just salary matching players and here’s a bunch of picks where you know if they would have given up you know uh whatever a um you know a Jaylen Suggs or something like that then guess what they’re probably only getting you know two pick two first if that right you know Jaylen Suggs or Desmond Bane and then you know maybe they’re throwing in a first or two like but that’s probably it this was like “Hey we’re not we don’t want to give up any of our players we’ll just give you a bunch of picks.” So I don’t think that this like I don’t think this does anything for the market because I think everyone’s going to look at it and go like that like this is very obvious what happened here right but anyway as always this is a discussion pass question on you let me know Lakers may benefit from the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic Trade revolving Desmond Bane. Lakers Nation could look to add a guy in KCP who is familiar and won a chip with the Lakers or even the big Lakers Trade and land JJJ which would be massive Lakers News.

KD has already told people what his preferred destinations are and he shut down a trade to the Warriors last season. Quit tryna send KD to all these trash organizations
Everything isn't about the Lakers
How about finding a trading partner Austin Reaves. Need to put a lock down defender alongside Luka. 🛑 Stalling
Every trade doesn’t benefit shit to the lakers
Don’t let they record fuel you they was the second seeed all year into the last to months season but that cause they had more off court stuff going on
Rob pelinka is trash at his job lakers ain’t winning nothing
Go Lakers 😂
rui a 1st 4jj ar4 a lot baby
I’m glad you made a video on this if Memphis can get 4 first round picks for Desmond Banes I think Austin reaves should go for that much and I think he’s better than banes
Lakers don’t have enough assets to “overpay” for JJJ
Triple j would not be good for the lakers he doesn’t rebound well he undisciplined defender he just a more expensive Rui and if u get triple j u need a center to keep him on the backside, now if we had some depth like okc type depth he’ll be cool
We could probably trade for KCP and Edey. But it means that Goga and Carter are off limits now
Me personally I think Austin reaves is more valuable then bane I think this trade is perfect for Memphis to sign back triple jjj and be the new okc they got 13 first round picks and they got suns pick next yr and their about to enter rebuild
JJJ probably going to cost us AR, DK, Maxi, and picks. Might still be too much. Rather keep our core and trim the fat on the edges
I hope JJJ leaves the rebuild and pulls and anthony davis
BREAKING NEWS ALERT…. WE DON'T WANT TRIPLE J…. now back to your regular schedule program
We might be able to fleece somebody for 2, maybe even 3 picks for Reeves, if they giving away picks like this. Rob needs to put him on the market immediately.
Make a video putting the guys you want on the Lakers that are available. Rank them
1. Kessler
2. Ayton
3. Brown
4. Capela
5. Sabonis
Clearly Memphis is in a rebuild, this deal between them and Orlando will not benefit the lakers as if they got a haul for Bane they will ask for more for JJJ. I think he could end up in Golden State, Phx or NY before the lakers as they all have better packages. We may get gafford or clax more than anything else at a more reasonable trade..
If they took 4 first picks for Banes they'll take 6 for JJJ so the lakers can dream of JJJ and I've been a huge fan of theirs for 25 years I'm just trying to be realistic
AR for Lively & Max is suddenly not unreasonable..
Beale St. Bears (Memphis Grizzlies News) reported: The Grizzlies could trade the 16th pick for another star such as Trey Murphy III or Deni Avdija. Most importantly, the Grizzlies bought themselves significantly more flexibility this off-season. It's not for certain that KCP/Cole Anthony will stay in Memphis. The Grizzlies GM said the roster needed a reset, by not getting out the 1st round and JA & Jackson Jr. will remain as the core. Nique Clifford or Adou Thiero could be drafted at 16 also.
NBA needs a another trade to reset the trade market. right. overpay
No they wont. Stop the crack head logic.
Rui hachimura, Dalton knetcht, 2031 first round pick for Jaren Jackson jr
Hmmm. Think you had it at Kevin Durant.
I can promise you they wasn’t the 8th seed because they were trash. They dealt with injuries and other issues that affected their rankings.
Only way that first should be traded, is for JJJ …would rather players for assets in this draft and next. ..and sign JJj next year
Would love JJJ at the 4 since he's a good enough 3 point shooter for that position and still getting a traditional big
JJJ is great but he's not really a "rim anchor/rebounding" type big, he's a switchable, free safety type. Getting like a Goga and an older vet like Capela to split minutes as true 5's would be ideal
And JJJ could still slot in at the 5 for small ball lineups to give us that versatility still
