salute salute salute how’s everybody feeling overcast day here in New York i had one of my guys shout out to Kofi said “Bad we haven’t seen the sun since the Knicks were eliminated from the playoffs.” Knicks went to Cancun and uh we haven’t seen the sun since then yeah it’s been overcast here it’s been raining on and off weather in New York has not been that pleasant but I’ll let you know you have to expect a turnaround at some point it got to come out you know sun got to come out tomorrow whatever the whatever the song goes anyway hope you guys are well and that you guys had a great great Father’s Day to my dad’s in the chat Will Latimer salute salute to my guy Gamber in the building kftv producer hope everybody had a nice nice Father’s Day and the family and and the kids treated you well like like the kings that you are you know what I mean okay all right let’s get it right into it man nick’s coaching update as the world turns as the world burns um here’s what we know this week will be interview week taylor Jenkins will be interviewed first according to our guy Ian Begley Taylor Jenkins is going to get the first interview uh we’ve also heard Mike Brown will also be interviewed this week so those two guys are going to get the first crack at it however doesn’t necessarily mean that the Knicks are done because also according to Ian Begley uh resident insider for for SNY he says the door is not completely closed on Jason Kid per people familiar with the dynamic in Dallas other outlets reported as recently as last week that Kid was still a possibility and that remains the case as of Monday all right so the door on Jason Kid has not closed now the door on Billy Donovan the hometown kid Long Island’s finest has closed he recently just this yesterday had uh signed a contract extension with the Chicago Bulls so that was one of the things that was going to be as Ian Begley had mentioned a byproduct of the Knicks targeting coaches who are already under contract with the teams are the is the news of these guys talking to the Knicks more of a leverage play to get more of a bag from their current organizations or could they potentially have a chance to leave and then get with the Knicks well for Billy Donovan it was the former he went out there and got the bag got the extension and so he should be uh staying he will be staying with the Chicago Bulls very interesting on the kid front you guys let me know what you think the Jason Kid news is that surprising to you do you think something will actually shake out of that what do you think there in regards to Jason Kid i can tell you this you know based on sources close to Nick Van TV who we spoken to on the coaching search the word that I was given in terms of what they’re going to be looking for here is that there will be a thorough thorough vetting process with this next coach in terms of organizational alignment organizational alignment the Knicks want more synergy between their head coach the coaching staff and the front office from top to bottom the new head coach or the prospective head coach will even be meeting with the Knicks medical staff all right so take that for what you will the Knicks are looking for more organizational alignment with their next head coach i think you know based on the way things fell out with Tibs obviously we know there were players who were out on him but there was also some some additional friction or static if you will between Tibs and the front office things were not agreed upon tibs running his own show not not collaborative in nature and so I think that was also part of what led to his ouster with this team you know Tibs has a reputation for running his own show and so this next head coach is will be expected to be more collaborative more communicative in nature not just with his coaching staff but with the front office they want more synergy there so that that is what that is what the word I was given in terms of the vetting process they’re going to be very thorough with these candidates in terms of their ability to work with the front office and vice versa they don’t want a rigid coach tib was too rigid man they want flexibility so that is what I was given okay now who is Taylor Jenkins taylor Jenkins who’s going to get the first crack at these interviews will be interviewing with the New York Knicks today um and it’s so interesting because Taylor Jenkins once upon a time was the boy wonder of head coaches he was next in line as the next big thing came from the Papovich coaching tree from Papovic down to Benhoer he was with the Atlanta Hawks when Mike Bddenhoer was there and serving as an assistant went to the Memphis Grizzlies and had a 250 and 214 record had them in the playoffs he was second in running in in coach of the year in the 2021-22 season that is Taylor Jenkins and unfortunately Taylor was shown the door by the Memphis Grizzlies with just about a week left to play in this past season so a lot of people are wondering like what happened with this guy why did he get fired and why is he available and is he a guy that can help the New York Knicks well this was an article by The Athletic that was conducted when he was fired this was from March 25th shout out to uh Sam Amic our guy Fred Catz friend of the program Joe Varden this was their article in term that that spoke in detail about the firing and it just seems like the writing was on the wall for Taylor Jenkins and his ultimate ouster by the Memphis Grizzlies if you go back two seasons ago last summer Zack Kleimman the GM of the Memphis Grizzlies and the front office issued a mandate for Taylor Jenkins to basically eliminate his entire coaching staff so as we see here Blake Ahern Brad Jones Scooi Penn Ohio State uh legend Sonia Ramen and Vitali Pipenko former NBA player that was his coaching staff they made him fire the f the five people on the staff to which Jenkins was not too pleased with and the article goes on to say that although he was consulted with the front office on the new hires the final interactions with his former staff it was uneasy and set an uneasy tone for the season to come so then they bring in uh Noah Lar Ro who was partly responsible for the new offense the Grizzlies front office wanted to implement this new offense and then they also brought in Thomas Esalo who’s this rockstar coach who coached in the Euro League whose system is was is still being utilized by his whole team i mean that’s how good they they liked his system is that when he left Europe and came to the Grizzlies Thiago Splitter takes his place over there in Europe and that team made Thiago Splitter keep the same system so what happens is you have Noah Lar Ro who implemented a motion offense removing the pick and roll from the offense and John Mor was not happy with the with his role in offense because it takes the ball out of his hand and the Grizzlies had some success there with that offense but then it was said well our team’s catching because then they started to struggle quite a bit with that offense you had John Morant not too happy with it and so throughout the season later in the season it said that Taylor Jenkins started to implement more pick and rolls to make Jaw happy and that could have been to the to the dismay disappointment of Zack Kleimman who was the GM so now climbing goes out there fires Jenkins fires Lar Roach and puts in Aalo who they had brought in last summer who a lot of people felt like was going to be the coach anyway it was only a matter of time now Aalo implements a pick and roll heavy offense so he puts the ball back in Josh’s hands so it just seems like from front office to coach everybody was and J everybody’s pulling in different directions we just talked about synergy and what the Knicks are looking for the next head coach organizational synergy but it seems like from the Grizzly standpoint with under Jenkins and Kimman John Morant that whole situation it was a powder K everybody pulling in different directions and the whole thing ends up exploding you combine that with the fact that the Grizzlies were always dealing with injuries right that’s one thing with John Morant like the difficulties with building a team around John Morant a small point guard can’t shoot the three relies on his athleticism and every time he drives to the basket he’s getting hurt it’s a tough cell so you have him with the injury issues with the mental injuries when when you combine all the all all the gunplay all of that immature stuff that he was dealing with last year that was that was a lot he had a team that was kind of in a in a in a spiral let me turn turn my phone volume down we cooking right now so to everybody in the chat once again doing we’re doing some research here investigative journalism who is Taylor Jenkins and how does he help the Knicks here so it it just seems like he caught a raw deal in Memphis between the system the offense the injuries the jaw stuff seems like there was a lot there there were some people who criticized him for the overall reliance on when when Dylan Brooks was there too much Dylan Brooks he’s the anti-tips in terms of the rotations he’ll go 11 12 deep but then you had the critics that say “Well you’re not going back to the starters early enough.” I mean you just can’t have it both you just can’t win in these situations so there’s some people blaming him for going too deep into the bench and not coming and not going back to starters at key times so just very interesting conversations around Taylor Jenkins again 250 and 214 was the record i thought he had that team overachieving especially during the times when John Morant was not playing in previous years this year it just seemed to to kind of fall apart a little bit because he got fired when they were when they were 44 and 29 but in the previous years I mean you know John Moran only plays nine games last season season before this one they had the bad record and then they make the guy fire the whole coaching staff like he had an injury riddled season and they want to change everything up so a lot of that seemed very very strange but if you if you look at his his coaching resume and where the Grizzlies ranked they had some good seasons in terms of offensive and defensive rating so to everybody in the chat let me let me uh let me let me pull this up on basketball reference they had some good years man let me let me uh pull this up here so it’s everybody in the chat getting some research done here hang tight okay if we look at it now last year now this past season was a dud the previous season injury riddled so they had the 30th offense in the league that that was without John Morant 12th ranked defense year before that 22-23 15th ranked offense second in defense fifth in pace now that’s one thing with a Taylor Jenkins offense and is that more credit to John Morant his speed and athleticism they were always like top five top 10 in pace every year well the the year without Jaw they were 16th so a lot of that could be J but even last year they were first 2223 they were fifth in pace 21-22 when he was coach of the year candidate they were third in pace fifth in offense fourth in defense fourth in that rating first year with the Grizzlies eighth in pace 15th in offense sixth in defense 15th in that rating well that was that was the second year first year 20th in offense 15th in defense 17th in net rating but they were 34 and 39 that year so he’s had some success in terms of of where they ranked in the league they finished second in the West 2122 season second in the west the following year 22 23 last year was a dud and this year didn’t have much playoff success but certainly during the regular season I thought they overachieved a lot in the west especally with the jaw factor so it’s interesting man i think you you bring him in and again if you bring him in which offense is he bringing here is he bringing in Noah Lar Ro and a style that is five out with limited pick and roll much less pick and roll how does that imp impact Brunson and Towns do we have the personnel that can effectively run this offense through a lot of cutting and offball movement consistently i like that with the Knicks i really do but then you know that’s an offense that as it did with with John Moran that’s an offense that takes the ball out of Cap’s hands takes the ball out of Brunson’s hands a little bit more so it be very interesting if he brings in Lar Ro and brings in that type of offense how do the Knicks benefit there do they run more offense through Carl Anthony Towns which I liked which the Knicks were very successful at earlier this year running Towns through that pinch post finding the cutters running along the baseline finding wing stop Muel Bridges OG Hart jason says “At least he knows how to coach both styles defensively they were strong but they also had some strong defenders triple J part of that anchoring that defense so very interesting man i’m very intrigued with Taylor Jenkins i wouldn’t be as concerned about the fallout in Memphis because I I think there was just so many factors in play here as we said we we talked about organizational synergy what the Knicks are looking for clearly they didn’t have that in Memphis in his final year so the writing was kind of kind of on the wall zack in LA more off ball for Brunson may not be a bad thing yeah you’re right be very interesting to see where it goes but um I do believe this Knicks offense needs a lift and this next coach because of where the Knicks sit with a lack of financial means a lot of young players on the bench think I think this next coach is going to have to roll the dice and so you have a guy like a Jenkins who believes in extending rotations i think he can provide a lot of plus here let me get some calls on this matter man let me get my guy Dan from New Jersey in the building dan are you there dan from New Jersey are you there do we have Dan dan from New Jersey going once all right we we’ll give Dan a second oh do we have him [Music] dan are you there going once okay all right we’ll drop off Dan dan maybe reset your your Discord switch everybody in the chat once again hit that thumbs up button for your boys cp the franchise here in the building talking about this Nick’s coach and search all my franchise channel members go ahead and and uh throw a salute in the chat i’ll shout you guys out salute pops the legend fight out super chat says uh salute CP i’m starting to lean on Jenkins over Kid and other options for now what you think well I mean of the coaches that are available that we know are available I think he’d be at the top of my list i I choose Taylor Jenkins over Mike Brown i would choose Taylor Taylor Jenkins over o over Mike Brown but you know the fact that the kid thing is is not uh that they’re not done yet i think that’s very interesting all right let’s see what else just making sure just checking my DMs here jd usually DMs me certain certain things while I’m live making sure I’m not skipping a beat oh making sure I’m not skipping a beat junior Kroma salute will from Li I see you eric LP salute f hill in the chat says “These dudes are leftovers.” Well so’s Rick Carile man the guy in the NBA finals he was he was a lot of teams leftovers and now he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and could could win a championship right when Carlile was coaching the Pistons he he gets fired what do they do they win the championship the next year and that that’s why I’m like it’s you can’t necessarily pin these firings and and lack of results it’s not necessarily indicate an indicator of what this coach is going to do with another situation because I just think there’s so many factors that that play into the success of a head coach namely your your talent how they mesh the system do they accept the system do they like the coach do they like each other will they form there’s so much at stake at play here that’s why I’d be a little bit leery to just write off you know Taylor Jenkins because oh he got fired or this guy you just never know you have to you have to bring him in here and see how it plays out chris Fire out super chat says “Uh since it was a playerled firing will it be a player hiring either way I’m sure JB will have a huge say.” Yeah I mentioned this when Tibs got fired players are going to have a big say in this they have to they’re playing for the guy right it only makes sense so Cap will be involved i’m sure the the the big time players will be involved in this as they should santana says “This is not what we need at all.” Okay so Santana what do you what do you want to do man let us know what you want to do in the chat we’re gonna bring in Yosi in just a bit but let me take some calls on this we’re going to talk about the Bane trade in just a little bit pops the legend on the Discord pops are you there yes I am can you hear me loud and clear how you feeling man how was your How was your Father’s Day man oh it it was good in the sense that my pops came from DR on Saturday took him to the Mets game on Sunday but they got their asses handed to them series that’s all right just like the Yankees huh y’all see how Pops had to loop my Yankees in that’s your own problems man don’t Don’t Don’t loop my problems and come mingle my problems with your problems man yo yeah you know it we share the same problems with the Knicks so you know I got to just throw it in there a little but we’re Giants fans aren’t we yes we are yes we are long long suffering man long suffering they’ll bridge us back together during a football season yep so CB I think you’re right and um and here’s my question with a coach why can’t they run both in the sense switch it up with some pick and roll and then do the five out to confuse the teams a little bit that are playing defense we don’t have to be rigid in just one format but the five out if you look at the at the teams that made it to the playoffs and even and I can’t say it Indiana and OKC right now that’s what they play and they play defense at the same time so if we can get that I think the Knicks will be in a better position next year what do you think yeah uh look I I think this next coach they they have to be able to maximize the talent here and and figure out how to make this thing work the team had success under Tibs offensively man at one point being third ranked in the league but then you had other times where it was just styied bogged down their spacing was not maximized at all times and sometimes you would see on the court where like you know Hart was out of position or cat is out of position kind of compromising their spacing and so I think it’s a combination of the next system plus their chemistry has to improve their chemistry and communication really has to improve because you have a lot of potential there scoring wise with Brunson Towns OG even Mau Bridges and I don’t know if Hard is going to get that start next year under this next head coach does McBride factor into this do they make another move so a lot lot of things at stake here but but I I agree with you yeah and I I I definitely think that Hart on a on a championship team should not be starting i think he should definitely the bench and then like you said is it a McBride is it just putting in um the Black Nest Monster paired up with um Cat yeah that could be an an option as well okay appreciate the call man pops a legend on the Discord let’s go to Fury fury how you feeling can you hear me CP loud and clear how you doing man good man uh this first time caller longtime listener subscriber i just uh I’m calling in from Elgen Texas but I grew up in Chelsea in New York so like just around the guard and so I’ve been a Knicks fan all my life i you know I grew up went to 90s Nick so uh it’s just this time around going through it with you guys it’s just makes it that much better man we used to have to wait for Warner Wolf to be going to the video tape to see to see to see the highlights right but anyway I just want to say uh yeah I like the way I I I like Jenkins I mean I’m not worried about how he got fired because they pulled that thing on him where they they kind of wanted to fire him but then they decided to by all his assistance instead mhm and um yeah I’m so glad the Knicks didn’t do that with Tibs cuz you know it’s h it’s a half measure so yeah ten is an interesting guy he’s a he’s like a Ivy League guy he never even played college ball he’s like intramural guy he’s like he’s like my level of basketball player right but like he he ended up having a lot of success as a coach so I don’t know i uh I feel pretty good about that guy yeah i’m not I’m not super high on Mike Brown um because I don’t know i don’t like the way he got fired you know they were just like all of a sudden he’s supposed to be so great then got rid of him got rid of him man yeah yeah so I’m like yeah I I don’t know um yeah I’m feeling pretty good about Jenkins we’ll see we’ll see what happens all right appreciate the call man shout out to Fury on the Discord calling in from Texas i think he said Elgen Texas if anybody’s from Texas in the chat uh throw one of those Longhorns up there man and shout out to everybody in Htown that’s my home away from home shout out to the H if you guys are from Texas throw your cities in the chat or wherever you guys are from throw your cities in the chat and and we will shout you guys out so he’s putting his his hat in the ring here for Taylor Jenkins let me know what you guys think about that rate that call in the chat one being trash five being facts i’m getting my guy Yosi Gosling in here getting Yosi ready our resident capologist is uh is getting ready here because we had a blockbuster trade uh yesterday ladies and gentlemen with the Memphis Grizzlies the same Memphis Grizzlies trading Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic man yo yo you in here yeah no no I just got my sound working i I could hear you now okay let let me know let me know when you’re ready to go and uh I’m good i’m good now i can hear you all right let’s get you in here man let’s get let’s get our guy Yosi Goslin in the building how you feeling man i’m feeling pretty good off season unofficially started with this Desmond Bane trade i’m ready to discuss it yes sir yes sir and and uh your show on YouTube you’re kicking things off with the good content you had Ian our guy Ian Begley was on the show you got the Third Apron newsletter going so this is your time of year man this is your time to shine bro yeah full steam ahead i’ve got a lot of content writing wise podcasting wise uh everywhere packing on all angles so now’s the best time of year to check out my content follow me on Twitter and my name i’ll be breaking down all sorts of transactions with the instant cap analysis as it happens there you go man okay so break this down for us man because you know when this thing first came across the newswire people were shocked that Bane got f got traded and then also shocked at the return so what did you think about it man desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic for KCP Contavius Cowwell Pope Cole Anthony and four unprotected picks first round picks one first round pick swap what you think about it well I’m a little surprised that Bane was even available but I’m also not surprised knowing that it was the Grizzlies and the Magic doing the trade together where these two teams never leak anything anytime they do a deal it’s almost like the the details never come out early it’s a surprise what actually ends up happening like the Vousvich trade that was a huge surprise uh just about everything the Grizzlies do doesn’t come out so I’m sure that you know when I thought about who the Magic going to go after I did not think Bane would be available uh but they I’m surprised just mostly at the the price i’m curious to know who else was in the bidding for him that the price got driven up to four first uh overall I like it a little better for the Grizzlies usually when these trades happen I favor the team that gets the picks i know that you know not not like a I know Nicks fans might not want to hear that i did a similar trade with Mikuel Bridges last year but you know anytime a team could get four first round picks for a non-allar I feel like you take it yeah that was the first thing out of Knicks Nation was Mal Bridges is free the Mall Bridges slander can end because now we have Desmond Bane here for four first round picks but I am I’m of the thinking and let me know what you think here that even with the Bridges trade and now with the Bane trade are we overvaluing first round picks given that the first two just maybe break down where these picks are but the first two may slide out to be you know pass lottery 16 late teens high 20s type of pick and then maybe the last two is where you think okay these could be a bit more valuable just based on where the Magic project to be in the East so it just depends on the situation i think when you look right now at when the Cavs traded for Donovan Mitchell and when the Wolves traded for Rudy Gobear so far they haven’t conveyed any valuable picks that could change there’s so much parody in the league that like the Grizzlies can tell you firsthand they were going to be like a homec court team in the playoffs and then they slid all the way to eighth in like a matter of weeks so things can change the value of picks can increase at any moment but as far as like these picks what we know for sure so they got a pick in this year’s draft 16th should be a solid pick the most interesting one that we know about for sure is that pick that they got next year there’s a lot of swaps involved including with the Suns so the Grizzlies now have two 26 picks next year most likely their own and the Suns one and that’s really interesting because the Grizzlies are taking somewhat of a step back uh so maybe they have two lottery picks i could you know we could get more into how that’s going to work as far as the two later ones again like you never know what’s going to happen where maybe two years from now the Magic don’t really get to where they want to go the roster starts to get really expensive maybe they they they realize like like my issue with the magic is you’re spending all this money on this top four but you still don’t really have like a true lead creator you don’t have like a great rim protector i feel like they really need those things so now that you’re tying up all this money you’re making it a little harder to get those things so the Grizzlies are maybe betting against that that these picks okay they’re not going to be like lottery picks or anything like that but maybe they’ll be a little more valuable than the Magic are hoping they’ll be yeah indeed man and I’m I’m just pulling up um the picks now so as you said it’s a it’s a first round draft pick this year 16th overall which could be a good player good role player 2026 the first round draft pick which includes swap rights from the Phoenix Suns or the Washington Wizards and then it’s a first round pick in 28 first round pick in 30 and then also swap rights in 29 but let’s talk about that that 2026 one because this one the Knicks could play into this one when you factor in the Washington pick can you can you break that that pick down um for us so first it’s like there’s like four different swaps going on and I guess I’ll start at the top with the Wizards because the Wizards technically still owe the Knicks a pick which they traded originally to Houston and eventually got to the Knicks hands uh but it’s most likely not going to be a first round pick if it stays within the top eight I believe which the Wizards probably should be in then the Knicks will instead get two second round picks but when the Wizards did that Bradley Beal trade uh one of the things they got was a a 26 swap with the Suns now assuming that the standings kind of play out similarly where both teams could suck but the Wizards will probably be like amongst the bottom tier they’ll probably stay so then the Grizzlies also no I’m sorry first the Magic they got a swap as well on that same pick um two years ago they traded three second round picks to the Magic and in exchange to the Suns and in exchange they got the swap so there’s like a priority when you do these when you trade the same swap over and over again so first the Wizards have the priority then the Magic have the priority so that’s what the So the Magic traded their 26 pick outright which has a swap with the Suns uh to the Grizzlies so the way it would play out is let’s say the same the standings this year play out similarly where the Suns pick ended up being 10th and the Magic’s pick ended up being 16th now all of a sudden the Grizzlies can move up from 16th to 10th but there’s another element that the Grizzlies they also have their own first round pick that year and it’s also has a swap with the Suns going on they also did it like the exact same trade uh with the Suns two years ago three second round picks for another version of that swap so they’re third on that priority so now they could uh you know potentially swap if if the MA let’s say the Magic are horrible next year for some reason then they have a chance to get like a second lottery pick but that’s more unlikely because the Grizzlies took somewhat of a step back i don’t think that they’re going to be like substantially worse than they were last season they won 48 games i’m confident that they can figure out the back cord put together a deep enough roster where they can win like 45 games but that’s probably still not cutting it for a playoff spot in the West cuz if you have most of the teams returning last year and then you’ve got maybe the uh the Spurs you know if they end up doing something they could be in the playoffs very good chance the Grizzlies like they’ll be competitive but then they’re going to be on the outer outer you know they’ll be in like the playing tournament like a lower lottery uh team so now the Grizzlies they’re looking at okay we take a step back this year we save a bunch of money in the long term and now we have this Suns pick and probably their own pick in the lottery so the Grizzlies they’re going to have a pick this year maybe they could try to move up uh but they’re going to have I think like very good chance two lottery picks next year and more cap flexibility they can really retool get some new young players in and get back into things starting in 26 27 because just based on how things are going doesn’t seem like they were their highest end outcomes was like close to being a championship contender obviously they need John Moran and Jiren Jackson Jr to be healthy first and foremost but I think they’ll be able to come out of this stronger within a year from now if any if you could trust any team like yeah you couldn’t make a good case that picks are being overvalued but if if you’re going to give a lot of picks to one team the Grizzlies one of the best uh batting averages with draft picks over the past six years so very good chance they’re going to hit on some of those and come out of this much stronger than many of us are can even see right now that’s good points there once again we’re talking to Yosi Goslin home of the uh or creator rather of the Third Apron newsletter you can also check him out on YouTube and also follow him on Twitter YosiGoslin um now as you you just mentioned two guys you know some people are they’re throwing a tinfoil hats on is this the beginning of a Memphis tear down and rebuild first from a Knicks fan standpoint now they want Triple J here man what would it take to get a Triple J trade done here in New York just given the salaries and and what the Knicks would have to give up man well first they’re going to need Jiren Jackson to say “I don’t want to be in Memphis anymore.” That’s number one and he technically does have some agency because he has one year left on his deal in all likelihood he’s going to stay in Memphis there’s already reporting from ESPN that they’re not going to trade John and Jiren now their next move they’re they’re the me Grizzlies are not done they need to clear more cap space so they can give Jiren Jackson a viable renegotiation and extension most likely that happens but let’s just say he says “You know what uh not that I didn’t get the supermax I’d rather just get traded.” Uh and he says the Knicks are one of those teams i would say the Knicks are at a disadvantage compared to some of the other teams out there that can put out much stronger offers with more picks but so with that said I mean I would suppose at least one of OG Anobi or Male Bridges have to be involved you can make a case that you know just even with one of those players you’re kind of like getting close to the value um Knicks don’t have any other first round picks to trade though mostly just a lot of seconds so you’re talking about trading one of those guys really now both those players make a little more yeah they both make a little more than Jiren so the next So you guys looking at 23 23 million going into next season right so for all the you so you know for those who follow like the Nick salary cap situation they’re going to be over the first apron which means they have to do a 100% salary match and Jiren’s salary is so low where they could technically just do like male straight up for Jiren so is it possible sure i’d say it’s pretty improbable though uh just because one I think he’s going to stay with the Grizzlies going to sign a new long-term deal but then also the Knicks probably are at a disadvantage in terms of the best offer they can put out there yeah that’s that’s going to be the uh the key here with with a lot of these trades for marquee talent is they just don’t have the the draft capital for one and you know the salary matchups could be a little bit difficult just in terms of the players if you have to go one for one dollar for dollar it it may not add up and so as you said a lot of the reports out there right now is that Memphis intends to at least for now keep Jiren keep Ja and just kind of retool with some of those draft picks hey maybe they jump in in another trade utilizing those picks as well yeah to They now have 11 first round picks through the eight through the next day drafts they can trade up to eight of them not saying they’re going to cash them all in on Giannis or anything like that but they they’re now like up there with the Nets the Jazz the Thunder in terms of most draft picks in the league so very interesting uh situation to monitor there yeah Zack Zack Kimman making some moves there okay but now let’s let’s think about it this way and once again we’re talking to Yosi Gazin let’s think about it this way what you know you have guys out there like a KD that trade is out there that’s the biggest trade kind of hovering could the Knicks potentially get involved not for him but as a third or fourth team helping to facilitate this thing while also getting some role players back what do what do you think about that well I haven’t really put much thought into that i mean the they would whoever they bring back has to be like pretty low salary type players so let’s put it this way a lot of Knicks fans again want to bring Dante back could they bring Dante back in a potential three-team trade or four team trade with with if KD potentially goes to the Timberwolves well so if that if KD to the So to them for them to bring back Dante I think they’re going to have to I haven’t done like the full math i think they would have to trade one of Harder Robinson at the very least not necessarily to make it fair but I don’t think they’ll be able to fit their top six and Dante within the second apron because if they’re trading for Dante you got to aggregate you got to that’s going to lock him into the second apron um most likely at the very least like maybe you move Hart you bring in Dante who makes almost half as much as Hart and then maybe you can try to replace Hart with a different cheaper player elsewhere that’s probably the way I could see it happening um to bring back Dante at this point that’s Yeah I think like I know everyone wants to add Dante to the mix with the top six but I just don’t think the money is going to quite work with all seven of them they they would have to have some some sort of more substantial outgoing salary to to stay wi within that uh that that second apron or else they wouldn’t be able to execute that trade basically right yeah that that’s kind of tough man that is kind of tough and then you know another thing I was I was talking to uh to Bobby Marx about was that even though they have in terms of the Knicks have that taxpayer mid-level exception if they utilize it they’ll trigger the second apron so they’re in a tricky spot there where it almost seems like you know the their path towards rebuilding that that bench is once again through vet minimum contracts i agree i think no matter what they’re going to try to stay below the second apron uh mainly because this is now going to be their second year in a row in the luxury tax uh so when they stay below the second apron one you’re not freezing your pick in the future the 2033 first round pick but also the the the tax penalty doesn’t get too high once you get above the second apron you’re going deeper and deeper that’s when it starts to get expensive and the only reason they’re under the second apron this year is because Jaylen Brunson took that extension that’s way below his max um next year in all likelihood assuming that they extend Muel Bridges on a contract that’s going to be pretty much identical to Brunson’s uh even though that’s also going to be considerably a discount compared to what he could get on the open market there is they’re probably going to exceed the second apron starting next year so just better in order to extend this team’s window as long as possible if you can try to reduce your your expenses uh now then you have a then you can uh you know kick that can down the road pay as much as you need in later seasons cuz I I when they acquired towns I view this as like a four-year window so they got like three really good years and I would say this upcoming season is their best chance i know last season feels like a lost opportunity they were so close to the finals but it was also their first year after with this exact group after overhauling the roster they traded for Cat on the eve of training camp like the fact that they went this far uh I think shows that they could really make it to the finals especially next year in a more wide open East so uh especially because then this is probably going to be their last year before things get really expensive uh there could maybe be a little bit of changes after this season so I I’m viewing this year as like the ultimate uh year for their best chance to win a championship there there there you go man um some people in the chat are throwing some names out there free agencywise uh Gary Trent Jr is on restricted free agent only 27 years old uh made only $2 million this past season with the Milwaukee Bucks you know not exactly the the guy who he used to be but hey you know in terms of vet minimum could be an option man what do you think about a Gary Trent Jr.’s market so when he I’m I’m wondering if because there’s very little cap space the overall pool of talent on the free agency market’s pretty it’s not that impressive i’m wondering if we’re gonna see more free agents like him get squeezed again and I think he’s probably better than a minimum player at this point but it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s still what the what teams are willing to offer him uh if you if the Knicks can get him at a minimum I I think that’s an absolute no-brainer uh we’ll see what happens i I haven’t really paid too much attention to I haven’t like looked into what he could get yeah like if I’m not really looking into what a certain player’s market is and you know probably looking at the mid level to at the highest tax payer mid level we’ll see uh obviously what big big uh depends a lot on what the Bucks end up doing uh you know it’s still unclear what’s going to happen there but yeah yeah a guy like him I mean what are some other names I’ve I think they there’s a lot of guys they can get what do you what do you think about um what’s it what’s the Mo Vagner situation going to be looking like in Orlando given that uh I believe they’re at the second apron right now mhm yes uh so I’m pretty certain I would say it’s like a 99.9 if not 100% uh certainty that they’re going to decline the options of Moagner and Gary Harris uh mainly so they can get under the tax uh you know they gave him those options and they could decline them but they’ll be unrestricted they could still bring him back though so if they’re going to bring so the Magic could still like like they could decline that 11 million and maybe instead of bringing him back at the minimum they could still give him like you know more than that they could give him maybe half that amount uh you know that could be kind of reasonable so that’s the tax pyramid level basically so if you’re another team you’re probably going to have to pay a little bit of a premium to get Mo especially consider that his brother is one of the main guys there but definitely uh he’ll he will be a a free agent like I’m pretty confident that’s going to happen how about um on the Phoenix Sun side how about Taius Jones what do you what do you think about the I don’t know if we talked about this last time you here but what do you think about the Taius Jones market this year yeah didn’t the Knicks offer him a contract last year in free agency i believe they made a play i’m not sure if it was confirmed um what they had offered him but he was a guy who got squeezed out went to Phoenix trying to you know reclaim his his value there and and it’s not so clear whether he did or not yeah um I mean he I don’t think he really helped his situation in Phoenix it just was not a good situation all around there is he going to go for the minimum again i I I haven’t really looked too much into that but if he’s looking for opportunity I mean is is a Knicks the best opportunity for him cuz they’ve Yeah mcbride’s like kind of a he’s kind of a combo guard and then they have Kle maybe they want to play him a little bit more um I think with him it might be more so about the opportunity i I can’t imagine he’s going to get like the full mid I don’t know if the full mid level’s out there for him but uh I I I think it’s just about the opportunity i’m not sure with Brunson there that’s exactly the best opportunity but who knows maybe maybe uh depending on who the coach is maybe they bring in Taylor Jenkins you know he thrived under him hey maybe maybe maybe uh hey maybe we could get maybe they could get him to uh come in on the uh the tax pyramid level that’d be worth it well Well there we go man we’ll definitely you know stay by because you never know what’s going to be happening man around the league draft is coming up free agency coming up on July the 1st uh what do you got going on on the third apron or your YouTube channel man oh I mean everything i’m going to I’m going to try to do something on Desmond Bane on a little more deeper dive on the trade uh they didn’t have internet yesterday couldn’t do anything also Father’s Day got the T back yeah yeah yeah uh got uh you know I just I published an article on Third Apron just this morning about that pick swap situation and how it benefits the Grizzlies and I’m just um you know I’m going to do a couple more team previews mainly the finals ones are the ones I have left to do and I’m just been doing these mockoff seasons like where these videos where I look at teams and show how they could do certain rumor transactions mainly for fun but also within the salary cap rules just released one on the Heat potentially trading for Kevin Durant i feel like out of all those teams he’s rumored to be uh linked to I feel like they in my opinion I feel like they’re they’ve got the best shot right now or not the best shot but I feel like they that’s the most likely outcome just based on like salary cap stuff and and all that stuff so uh yeah I showed a whole deal of how they can bring him in and and uh and reload the roster so just yeah check out my my YouTube channel Third Apron also that’s the name of this of the newsletter on Substack i’m going to be active all throughout the next 30 days or so just putting out a lot of content reacting to free agency there you go man yosi Goslin great work as usual man we’ll catch up man maybe next week or so sounds good CP thanks for having me on yeah man anytime all right that was our guy Yosi Goslin ladies and gentlemen so it’s everybody in the chat once again hit the like button hit the share button subscribe to the channel we’re not done we still got to get to worst take we got We had some interesting very interesting sound bites that came across the wire here this weekend that that we got to react to what do you guys think man what do you guys think about that Desmond Bane trade blockbuster trade if you will orlando making moves are you guys scared of Orlando jd hit me he said he’s scared he’s nervous about what the Magic could look like next year with Suggs and Bane France Paulo Wendell Carter a strong move i I like the move i respect the move i thought they they needed a a big upgrade at the guard spot in terms of offense consistent offense you know Cole Anthony yeah he’s a Chuck he’s he’s nice he’s got he’s got some fire but he’s he’s a bench guy i like Bane for them as a shot creator as a playmaker scrapper physical jamal Mosley is going to fit he’s going to fit right in with them i still think they need to figure out some at the point guard spot is it going to be Suggs is it going to be Anthony Black but I like that move this this a great pickup by the Orlando Magic and hey put some of your chips in the middle and see what’s going on respect Cha JD was scared of Detroit that’s a fact that is a fact i’ll be having to talk him off the ledge like bro relax i’m trying to get my phone on silent for the for the latest man uh call me up on the Discord man let me know what you what you guys are thinking in terms of what’s going on again coaching updates kid door not closed taylor Jenkins being interviewed first taylor Jenkins gets the first crack at this so let me know what you guys think okay all right and hey we we heard Yosi’s thoughts on the Triple J trade is it a Macau for Triple J straight up why would the Grizzlies do that and also what he’s hearing is that Memphis right now is not motivated to trade Triple J but I would love to see him on the Knicks here i’d like that tandem with him and Carl Anthony Towns i really would but you know hard to see that happening a lot of these Nick traces just just hard to envision right now just based on where the Knicks are but I think they have enough they finished two games short of the NBA Finals tweak the bench up a little bit gain some chemistry figure out the coaching situation i think we could be right there especially with the way the East is looking headed into next season but hey it’s very very early at this point you guys be the judge we’re having a good Monday productive Monday so far hit the like button hit the share button subscribe to the channel let me read some of the super chats that have come in and then we will get to worst take uh we Bocham and Watson are listed as restricted free agents watson watson watson oh um uh I forget the guy’s first name watson that’s a good question why they listed as restricted free agents I would have to take a look at that and see but I think of the three you know McCulla should be back bo Champ I would take a look at Bo Champ and take a flyer on him i would definitely do that so yeah what do you think i think McCullers is is uh I think he’s important man he could be could be a player promise who knows let’s see two-way trying to attract I don’t know um yeah I’m not sure in terms of restricted free agency I’m just looking this up doing some quick research two-way players can become restricted free agents at the end of their contracts if they meet certain criteria such as being on the active or inactive list for 15 or more days with the NBA team in the last season of the contract so I think that’s that’s answers your question i think that answers your question so but yeah let’s see if McCulla takes another step uh next year in summer league okay shout out to my guy Yosi salute to everybody in the chat and we here cooking man on a Monday here on Nick’s Fan TV uh who else we got here watching and you don’t want to type it’s all good either way all right so let’s get to first t worst take matter of fact worst take this segment of worst take is where we react to sound bites about the Knicks around the NBA podcast sphere and the media landscape we play the takes we react to the takes and you give me your thoughts rate the take one being trash five being facts is it fire is it tomatoes you guys be the judge this is your show so first up we got Austin Rivers going 10 toes down on the Knicks coaching situation and he sheds more light on his tenure with the Knicks remember they showed him the door and brought Derrick Rose in here’s Austin Rivers breaking it all down we got to listen to this in its entirety here we go from the Austin Rivers Show it’s just the way they do business that people look at and be like uh I don’t know if I want to be a part of this okay if you’re a coach first off why the [ __ ] would you want to deal or be in this situation tibido just went to the conference finals and it wasn’t good enough they fired him guys they fired Tibs and I’m not really a Tibs guy okay i played for him it wasn’t the best experience personally didn’t treat me well at all um first day of camp this is a true story first day of camp this is my first time really talking to him since signing there he looks at me and says and this is true word for word this is his first words to me i’m not making this up tibido comes up to me and says “Hey man excited for you to be here um I wanted Derek but uh you know you’ll do great you’ll do great.” And he walked away and I remember thinking to myself I’m not going to be here long i’m not going to be here long within a month or two guess who’s on the team derek Rose i already knew I was on my way out and the way it went down and the way they handled business was crazy bro they like brought me in a dark room it was Leon Worldwide West and T all three sitting there in the dark with like a little light it’s like a inter interrogation type thing and they go “Hey man uh we’re gonna move you uh we just got Derek here um until we find a right spot for you uh you know you don’t have to travel with the team anymore.” And I ended up having to call Tibido my my [ __ ] emasculating ass had to call him and ask him “Can I please travel with you guys so I can continue to work out on my game and have trainers at my expense and I’ll support the guys who are playing ahead of me i have no problems.” They just let me travel with the team and then eventually just uh uh traded I don’t even know where they traded me to they traded me to somewhere that was going to wave me they didn’t even Okay yeah they didn’t even do right by me they traded me into a team that wasn’t even going to use me yeah so that whole thing where like they brought me in the room and I was like “Hey we’re going to get you to a good situation.” They ended up trading me to a team that was had no use for me cuz I was OKC just rebuilding they didn’t have Jaylen Williams they didn’t have Chad these guys weren’t even in the NBA yet shay wasn’t even an MVP guy yet so like they had no reason to sign a 29year-old 30-year-old so I ended up getting [ __ ] well mind you CO is going on guys all right so remember players had to get tested daily for the results i go to get tested with my mother and they denied me access at the facility to get tested and my mom so I had to go to like a Walgreens as an NBA player and get tested i call my agent and my pops they [ __ ] lose it i get a [ __ ] ass call from from Wes oh hey man sorry i wasn’t aware that you were coming to the facility to get test man get the [ __ ] out of here you know I was there they know you know they called you when I pulled up cuz I was outside for like an hour complaining that how the hell can I get in and not be tested they don’t do business the right way sometimes okay that’s what I’m [ __ ] saying i’ve been holding on to this story for a long time i got more but I’mma hold back okay cuz I’m not the type of guy that like wants to unturn every stone so when you fire Tibs first off I don’t have any remorse to keep it 100 with you but still let’s keep it let’s keep it professional you fire Tibs and then you have no [ __ ] plan nope all right man and that that listen man there’s a lot of fbombs i forgot this i forgot this wasn’t uh edited excuse you know for the people at home and we can go back retroactively this is not a family show segment here with Austin Rivers as you can see the emotions are running high in this clip dropped a ton of fbombs i hope I can still get monetized for this video austin you’re lucky that people like the the worst take segment if I get demonetized I’m going at you for a check but anyway let’s break this thing down very emotional fiery take from Austin Rivers he’s like well first off he’s like well rate that call in the in and rate that call people in the chat rate that call one being trash five being facts tomatoes are fire emojis you guys be the judge it’s your show well he’s like why would anybody take the job because they fired Tibs at the Eastern Conference Finals i mean it’s it’s New York bro it’s a New York Knicks it’s a tough job there’s a lot of pressure but a guy you think a guy like a Taylor Jenkins where this is the only opening in the league where you want to get back and get your resume back if you’re able to go past where Tibs has gotten this this team you’re a king tibs is at home right now sitting on $30 million swimming in it like Scrooge McDuck in DuctTales it’s a great show there’s a lot of reasons why you would take the job let’s not act like this is like the Charlotte Hornets uh revolving door coaches yeah is it surprising to to some that they got rid of him with two games short of the Eastern Conference Finals that’s fair but like Taylor Jenkins some of the writing was on the wall and if the players are out on them and the front office is out on them you’re gone they just gave him the extension last year now with the situation that he talked about with uh with the Derrick Rose situation he did speak on that a little bit when when the Knicks did first get Derrick Rose that basically they told him when he got here that look they they wanted Derrick Rose it hadn’t worked out yet and so he’s not necessarily on solid ground that’s just the nature of the business just the nature of the business and then look the whole COVID thing I mean do they owe it to him to go go to a facility and get tested i wouldn’t let him in i wouldn’t see why that’s a big deal tibs and Tibs and and and Doc Rivers are friends it’s kind of sketchy but the business is sketchy it’s a shady business it’s a cold blooded business ain’t no loyalty in this thing so I don’t know i I probably would have allowed him is Was there a a you know some sort of liability issue or things of that nature where the Knicks didn’t want him to come in because he wasn’t technically with the team i don’t know i can’t speak to that side of it now he was tight he was like “Me I brought my mother to the facility i called my dad.” He was he was tight man i think the quivers thing may may have gone to his head hey remember quivers hey boy boy y’all Nicks fan love you some nicknames quivers Quickley and Rivers yeah love that tandem hey I was I was a big Austin Rivers guy when he was here like that Utah game where he had the 25 points 25 minutes and typical tips and sat him down he didn’t hear from him again rest of the game quivers right so so yeah so that was Austin Rivers man you guys let me know what you thought about that one he was tight he was tight man and then he goes on and say you know that you do this thing without a plan he’s another guy everybody’s This team doesn’t have a plan i’m going to push back on that a little bit let’s wait let’s wait and see before we you know roast this team for not having a plan so to speak okay so that was Austin Rivers now the next one we going to get to Moo went in moo goes in man and we we got to split this up into like three different parts cuz Marcus Morris former Nick absolutely goes in on the Tib situation and his old team so let let’s get to Moo now this is we’re still on worst take let’s get to Moo and hear what he has to say here here we go and this might not be like you know politically correct i I was a fan of the Firing Tips and that’s not just me like saying they should you know have a plan but I just didn’t feel like he got the best out of his players right like I felt like uh earlier in the season I was saying is like Dave man you got to you got to trust the the bench you got to trust these other guys and not only like trust them to like put them in the game but you expecting like to have the you know the team to have a lot of camaraderie right like when you trying to win a championship like a lot of aspes that like not just playing five players and just being like “Okay let’s get the most we can get out of them or playing six when you throw Mitchell Robinson.” It’s like it’s a team thing you want your guys on the bench to be pushed you want your guy you know what I mean and and you seen that with guy with teams like Indiana teams like OKC they got deep benches everybody’s knowing their role everybody’s getting a chance to play everybody’s happy like that that keeps a camaraderie together but then when you when you play five guys no matter what you’re saying I’ve been on the bench i’ve been on the bench what you’re saying is not happy like the team is not going to be the happiest it can be when you’re not even giving other people chance to be success when Muel Bridges came out earlier in the season he said “There’s other guys on this team that can help we don’t need to play this many minutes that right there should have showed you like they not really feeling this you feel what I’m saying like cuz no players are going out talking about what the coach should be doing right like like people don’t know they don’t catch that type of stuff like he’s telling you right then and there hey we not really feeling this like this this shouldn’t be happening like that right and you got players looking at the other players like damn I can’t get no minutes like I can’t help him i can’t help this team at all and like when you get to those those points in your career I mean in the season that really that really hurts the team like when everybody’s not really collectively together yeah you you won a couple series with just those five of those six but then when you get to the nitty-gritty when you go against a team that got 10 guys that’s playing you want the same thing on the other end right and I just felt like that has to go with either Tib just wanting to do it his way and not really you know I mean listening to the players and I felt like now with the way that the NBA is constructed with a lot of younger teams you have to be a coach that listen to the guys all right that that was part one that was part one we breaking this thing down we we were breaking this thing down so that was Moo Morris rate that part of the take one being trash five being facts that was Marcus Morris saying he was happy or he was down for the tips firing because number one and and he said that key word remember I brought this up about the player exit interviews players not knowing their roles he said that to a te said that to a te and he spoke about the fact that you got to listen to these guys when they’re calling out and we we talked about that mal Bridges situation at length when it came out prior to that Portland game where he had the game win and saved the team and look he he is right in that look when when the when the Knicks went up against those deeper teams i.e indiana it took Tibs up until game three to extend the bench play Dylan Wright play Shammit get Payne out of there and then they started having some success i think I thought that was I thought that was a fivestar take right there few few minutes of finance puts tomatoes they’re going with tomatoes on that take i thought that was a five take by Moo on that part all right so here’s more and once again this is courtesy of uh of uh the Vince Goodwill good word show on Yahoo Sports vince got our reaction look at his face he’s like Moo moo going it off you know Moo don’t mince words so okay so that was that part let’s let’s keep going here and skip up a little bit and that wasn’t the popular hire like nobody didn’t know like why did they just go over there and get him for it but I understood because he will hold the guys in the locker room accountable he was a guy that can that can actually talk to the guys and you can tell because the first year they went to the championship right like that that wasn’t just the players that was the players buying into this guy that’s coming in and changing the culture changing the locker room up and getting more respect from the players pushing them to be their best and that’s what I think that because Tis been around so long I don’t know if he really even recognized how to do that right like that’s a thing that you you you can honestly see that from afar like I don’t know if he recognized how to do that and I had it some time this I spent some time in there this year actually uh this is Moo now going talking about remember the Knicks brought him in they signed him to a vet minimum contract going into this season and then waved him so now this is Marcus Morris talking about what happened here we go you know I was going to be with the Knicks so you know I I didn’t plan on not playing this year and I didn’t even tell you that but I was supposed to be with the Knicks this year um I had some other calls i had some other teams they called me from left street and it was like “Hey we want you here we want you to be around we want you to help the guys just want you to be a leader like you might not play but we want you here i get there i talk to Tibs and I kind of get that feel like this old school you going to do it my way you can’t play because X Y and Z and I’m just like yeah I don’t I don’t know how that work but yeah you know I’m happy to be with New York i don’t give a Who’s the coach i don’t who’s in the front office i’m a Nick and I like the city and I like you know what it brings so I felt like I can you know I can help with that obviously it it it uh the cat trade happened which I knew was going to happen um before it even happened and I thought I was sick because that’s what they told me like they was like no matter what you here don’t even worry about it you ain’t gonna play you here and then normal Leon Rose and and and Nick they make a trade they go back on they word now I’m stuck with my in my hand I turned down other offers because I thought I was going to be a Nick right and like I just felt like that was just like for me that was just like a slap in the face I’m a 14-year veteran I’ve been around this league I got a lot of ect you guys called me asked me to come here i didn’t ask to come over there i wasn’t calling the Knicks to saying like “Let’s get me over to Knicks.” I was trying to go somewhere else cuz I didn’t think it was no it was no interest and then when it became interest I pushed everything else I had to the side and then they back door me so think the reason I’m getting to that so since you back door me you might as well let me be the coach now so So yo Muk is a funny guy man so look as he said man once the town’s trade happened he he got squeezed out it’s the nature of the business they ended up going with Shamut they kept Shamut moo got clipped and they brought they they had O’kee they waved him and brought him back on a G-League deal they should have kept Moo man i didn’t like that that that maneuver they should have kept Moo absolutely they ended up holding out on that last roster spot and giving it to PJ Tucker later on down the road but they absolutely should have kept Moot this is what we were missing gritty toughness he been here before what he say he he he said I don’t give a family show i’m a New York Nick tough business man what do you What do you guys think about that they should have kept him we were hyped remember we did a show when they when they brought Muk there but breaking news that was that was one of our most watched shows all right so here we go again here we go says more Marcus Morris on the uh Vince Goodwill show here we go oh because I I can get more out of the players than what what we’re seeing right here and I I’m serious like I can I can have a staff and and be able to get more out of the players than what the old schools coaches are are having but I don’t think it’s a circus right all the coaches that they they reached out to are really good coaches so I would have done the same thing like it’s the Knicks we were in the Eastern Conference finals you’re in the mecca like yes it’s pressure and that’s another thing you got to identify who could take that pressure right like we don’t want to have to bring somebody in here and then have to fire them next year because then it looks like we really don’t know what we’ll be doing right so um I don’t think it’s a circus right i think Worldwide West I’ve been known West for for a long time really good guy leon has been my agent you know he’s you know he’s a little shaky but he’s been my agent and you know a couple of them guys on the team I’ve known for a while i think they have a really good core i just think you have to identify who fits the not just the city but like the locker room who can get the most out of the guys where they respect where they want to play for right like who like you can you can obviously see that there’s some joy in the game when you know what I mean when when you’re getting coached by this certain guy he can hold guys accountable but what they’re doing right now might look a little frantic but it’s the Knicks it’s New York it’s the media like you you want to go into the summer with all this cracking you know what I’m saying keep people talking about the Knicks but it looks like a circuit because so many guys are turning the job down right they like “No I don’t want that pressure i don’t want this.” But most of them guys All right well just just to stop him there he you know it is it is ironic that on one hand he talks about the bad side of the business and them seemingly doing him dirty after the catch trade and and and clipping them after he turned down other offers that may have been gone by the time he was became available that’s kind of you know it’s a tough part of the business but then he said he didn’t feel like the coaching search was a is show like many are leading on i thought I agree with him there but I don’t agree where he’s like you know coaches are turning them down it’s not the coaches that are turning them down it’s the teams in which the Knicks are reaching out to to get those coaches that are turning them down so there’s a little little you know nuance there but I thought by and large he’s he’s uh he’s on point all right here’s more are already stable where they’re at too and I just feel like you know they’re just doing their due diligence and see if they can have a conversation ain’t like they trying to hire him he just want to interview him so I think it’s twofold uh but you still got guys in the tuck like Mike Malone right like Mike Malone mike Malone’s not getting the job all right so let’s skip ahead uh this is him on on the need for locker room leadership this is Marcus Morris here we go now when they get Darl out of there I can go coach a Philly because this league is like everything’s based on one guy like no build a system like build a system build a build a program so he’s not there we can still plug some things in we can get some things done that’s how you build a team like just in case if something happens okay I got this system and that’s how we you know this this the direction we going to go in and that’s the only part about Philly like the coaching is a little all he’s talking about Philly here let me skip up a little bit where he’s talking about the Knicks locker room here we go i feel like they would have been in the finals if they didn’t trick that first game while being up so many points and giving a chance to Indiana to come back like that but the difference between Indiana different between the Knicks right now is toughness like it’s no toughness on the Knicks on the floor right now like it’s no fire like yes they really good basketball players like JB is you know one of the best scorers at his size that I’ve ever seen being able to use his body and get to the paint and create shots cat that’s big man shooting big which can be a gift and a curse at times but I’m a big fan of Cat but if I had to put my finger on is like having a guy like a New Yorker or having a guy that’s a tough guy that can bring more like sometimes the coaches can’t bring that out of you your teammates have to bring that out of you like sometimes that’s just the way goes like I was on the team with with with uh Kaw and Paul George yeah different dynamic but these are two quiet guys right like I was the guy that was like “Okay I’m going to bring the fire out these m motherfuckers.” You know what I’m saying this is why they love this is why they love me i’m the guy that’s going to set the straight out that’s going to push them that’s going to do those type of things i couldn’t identify that on the Knicks this year and I felt like they were really missing just that like guy that felt like he was from New York right like the guy that was like I’mma get I’mma get down or dirty i’mma be the guy that lay somebody out i’m going be the guy that file somebody i’mma be the guy that do this or do that i felt like they were missing that and yes I was Dante i felt like Dante was the dude that did that for them last year that’s no knock to him like uh ain’t nobody backing down from Dante Devenzo ain’t nobody like he’s not the cat that’s to foul nobody and they be like oh you know what I mean they’ve been to grip Dante Genzo up and say hey little man like you know but good dude good player like no knock to that right like no knock to him yeah yeah I’m talking about a real gangster out there like you need that in New York like that’s just that’s just what it is you know what I’m saying and I felt like that team was really missing that in those key intricate parts of just like having like real leadership like I even said on another uh podcast uh for KC like yo you might have to play Tuck right you might have to put Tuck out there you might have to put Tuck muck the game up take a couple fouls get that energy going in the in the guard like it’s supposed to be right and I felt like that the Knicks didn’t really identify that and I was supposed to be that guy and they kind of like pushed that to the side like we don’t need that to win and you know a couple things happened they did get to Easter conference finals but then that caught up to him and it always does moo standed 10 toes down he said “Ah that was that Philly talk right there that that that Philly ball came out of him.” He was like “He said they a they ain’t worried about the big ragu like that they ain’t really worried about that.” No disrespect but eh man Moo went 10 toes down this is why we wanted him back here man leon West what happened we needed Moo back here man that would have been some excitement he would have bodied some people up this year that would have been very very entertaining what do you guys think man was the toughness was the grittiness missing and you can get your worst take tease uh at shop.nickfantv.com nickvant.com get your worst take tease was it missing i thought so i thought so there was There was a grittiness that we were looking for with this team all year they showed it sometimes i thought the Detroit series brought that out of them i thought it really did i thought the Detroit series really brought that out of him brunson’s tough man he’s tough as nails i I rock with cap heavy julius had that you know he was a little crazy he had that little like tweak he He wasn’t a smart leader but he was a little you know he was a little off iheart had that grittiness i thought Dante had it you know whether or not Moo respected it I thought Dante had it but they needed that and and it was clear as day because they saved that last roster spot to bring in PJ Tucker yes to be a locker room voice or maybe to help toughen these guys out and and and be a straight shooter with these guys when they’re playing soft so this is why they should have brought Moo back man what a guy man great sound bite i mean this is the MOO that we need instead of uh first take MO that’s just out there just throwing out ridiculous worst takes just keep it a bean i feel like he’s going on worse first take right now and I keep mincing words cuz worst take is our show first take is their show i feel like he’s he he you know he goes on there and mintes trying to get the hot sound bites this was better this is why we needed Marcus Bars on this team but anyway great show man great show what do you guys think about today’s show let me know your thoughts as I said we got the worst take joints in stock in all sizes go ahead and support the machine man you got worst take on the front side for the fans by the fans on the back side all in stock all ready to ship get yours today obviously you can get the crispy KFTV snaps we got them in all colors now royal blue navy blue white and black so the white ones is good for the summertime man some of you old school players ready to hit the beach get it cracking with the white joints all 3D 3D uh stitching new era you see it we leave the stickers on my lady doesn’t like that but I like to She gets on her nerves why you always leaving the stickers on your hat i’m old school man what do you want me to do but yeah great show man hey as the coaching search continues we’ll be live and direct we’ll do some more if you guys want me to react to some more things hey whether it’s a sound bite a tweet a group chat take send it over to me man send it over to me [email protected] or send me a DM on Twitter send me a DM on Instagram i’ll react to it we still got a couple other things I want to react to um 700 p.m in Brooklyn Melo and Shumpert talking about Nicks we got some sound bites we’re going to react to that maybe we’ll do that on Wednesday also uh the roommates pod roommates came out with their new pod last week so I’ll listen to that see if there’s anything worth responding to reacting to rather yeah mellow take randy Johnson I see you mellow take yeah absolutely man absolutely so yeah we’ll we’ll uh we got some stuff we got to react to and catch up on shout out to OK Bert says “How beneficial do you think the players opinion should be for the next coach with Tibs i get it.” Uh before a new coach that you never played for how can you make that how can you make the players buy in they have to they’re going to be playing for the guy you know somebody had sent it sent in a super chat chris asked the same question they’re going to be playing for the guy so their opinion has to be factored into this thing especially Cap the guys that you expect to be here for a longer period of time cap Cat those guys their input has to be considered got to play for a coach that you want to play for whose voice you’re going to respect like Moo said you got you need a guy who you can respect in the locker room thought they lost that with Tips mr dunard’s comments on the Paces series i feel you okay okay Bert appreciate you santana says he wants Johnny Bryant okay I hear you there 1,200 people in the chat man do me a favor hit the like button hit the share button subscribe to the channel and uh we’ll see you guys man as any breaking news we will see you guys most likely Wednesday we’ll see if we can tap back in on Tuesday man all right appreciate the support everybody great show constructive dialogue and we appreciate you guys man peace

Thib and the front office were not on the same page. Never like to play the bench
"So was Rick Carlisle…" BARS
Jenkins brings such a different approach to the minutes played. Would be a major change for the stamina levels. Is he an upgrade offensively?
Hey CP! I'm back.
Main in whoever we hire as coach. I want a coach that implements BALL MOVEMENT.
One of the biggest missteps of the last season was letting Mook go
The more hear about Taylor Jenkins I would hire him over Jason Kidd and Mike Brown
Our toughness left with Julius and Dante
Salute 🫡 Cp go Knicks let’s just fix the bench. Go Knicks
Austin Rivers is a bum.
To me, the message Dallas gave out to reject the Knicks from speaking to Kidd not only keeps their organization from looking crazy to Dallas fans, but also to rest of the entire NBA basketball audience. Kidd can just resign and leave the rest of the money from his contract on the table, and just go to the Knicks if he wants… especially if it’s in his contract he can just quit without reason. Then possibly, Dallas fans can generally hate on Kidd rather instead for just leaving, and less likely not the organization, because at least publicly they said no. Just a thought. As Brian Windhorst put it earlier… you don’t have to ask, but by asking there might be a strategy involved here.
Could the knicks pick up Nickeil Alexander Walker?
111111
Bless everyone 😊
Austin sounds bitter
Knicks need to develop their rookies. There is cheap talent already on the roster.
Get 3vo bacc.
I am GOOD on j. Kidd, he can stay with dallas.
Just read Precious' body language, and you will understand.
Man this coaching choice is definitely gonna shape how we perform next season, just doesn't seem like there was a plan
Jenkins emphasizes Defense and Brown doesn't. If you had to go with one of the two it would be Jenkins. Unless Kidd wants out of Dallas. Then all bets are off.
Great show CP…. and yeah Mook had me rolling 😂😂😂He made an excellent point about the grittiness!! And he could hit an open jumper!!
You have to stop bringing in Knicks haters on the show man 😂 Man clearly just thinks the Knicks are not a true contender no matter what which is why he thinks no minimum player will choose the Knicks.
Austin Rivers sounds & looks like that clown Andrew Tate. Nobody gives AF that Rivers lil feelings were hurt.
The mook take on thibs was straights 5’s. That was literally the discussion the whole season and the whole mins police and the fact Mikal had to come out and say something Ik for a fact a lot guys felt some way but just didn’t make it known. The only guys to really come out and defend thibs has only been Brunson and Hart
JD on the ledge 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The fact that Thibs and Doc have a relationship leads me to believe that Austin Rivers was NOT well liked.
Seems like a more modern coach im a fan plus looks like a younger thibs
We shouldve kept Mook, I feel like that was a Thibs move.
CP everything Mook said is exactly what I was saying in chat when they brought him. Tuff guy …missing for the spirit of the city to truly get the adrenaline and juice going!! New York is missing that guy.. been saying that since Julius was clipped in the season by the Miami Heat! TWICE
Coach front office aligned sounds like a page out of the eagles book
Man, it was Tibbs that got Marcus out of here. All the guys Leon brought in if Tibbs didn’t like him he wouldn’t play them. That’s just one of the reasons that he’s out of here.

Again, that was Leon that brought Tucker in and Thibodeau didn’t play him
I talk everything a player has to say with an eye roll. We all know these same guys would lose their shit if anyone went on a podcast and ripped their game apart.
CP, why would Jenkins bring in LaRoche when he didn’t even want him in the first place, and whose offensive philosophy angered their star point guard and got him fired? Unlikely
Hire Spreewell
We could have gotten further if we had a coach that thought about the team and not just himself. We need a coach with insight.
I think the Knicks are going to get the coaching job to Brunson dad
Knicks have to interview Malone and Vangundy in order to hear from all possible coaches. But if it’s between Mike Brown and Jenkins. I’m taking Jenkins his style fits better with this squad.
🫡 I’m loving this assessment of former players take segment:
1. Austin Rivers salty over Derrick Rose 🌹 kind of defeats his argument. Rose is eligible for HOF in 2027-8. 🎤 -1/5
2. M. Morris has had 8 different jobs in the NBA. He’s been around to know how players feel/think about their coach. He’s got a point about Thibs but he’s been on so many horrific teams I gotta also wonder, well catering to players doesn’t exactly save the coach either. If that were true, Mike Woodson would still be coach. 🥗 4/5
I’ll be shocked if Mike Brown isn’t the next “for now” Knicks coach. It’s what the boys want. Brown checks boxes on the offensive end.
First apron hurts. I still don’t believe Leon is content riding with this group. Outside of Brunson, no one is safe.
