Thunder Take Game Two, Kings Team Building Approach – June 9: The Insiders + D-Lo & KC

oh hey there we are hi everyone hello good morning hello friends uh Spectre I got Spectre 707 with the belt today congratulations good work Spectre oh Warren we are up in here what’s up Russ dog happy Monday good morning oh buddy mitbla you know I was locked in just so Seth Rollins am I right um crazy there was a moment in that scene where I was like “This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.” Totally same i had the exact same reaction i just allegedly if I said Spectre out loud my 17year-old 17-year-old would go “Spect i hardly know her.” Yeah hi Katrina sorry everybody had to be subjected to that what’s up Will Z what’s up Wack morning cool cat Mrs mac i followed a little bit on Twitter uh what’s up Cool Cat uh yeah I need to stretch that to eight oh yeah we could do that um I’m pretty sure they’re undefeated at home since Stray Kids played it oh that is not a coincidence wow let me make sure that’s right that was last Saturday oh never mind they’ve definitely lost at home since then i was going to say but I wanted There’s been a lot of days since They lost those first two to the Padres that’s right hey good morning a happy Monday everybody that’s James Ham i’m Cal Madson joe Brazil on the ones and twos behind the glass jiffy Lube sponsors the program jify Lube is what I’m calling it yeah that’s what we’re calling it uh we have a finals game two to get to really impressive win from Oklahoma City and I want to zoom out and have a have a Tyresese Hallebertton discussion because it wouldn’t be the 2024 2025 NBA playoffs without a discussion about Tyrese Hallebertton’s place in the pantheon of active NBA players we’ll get to that and we’ll have some other King stuff we’ve got a sprinkle of NFL news to get to but I have a I went into the trade machine and did some work because as you know on this program James If you have a trade idea we want to hear it an NBA trade idea kings specifically yeah don’t just give us like a four team trade that doesn’t include the Kings we’re like “Huh?” Honestly I don’t even want a four team trade that does include the Kings a four team trade yeah we’ll have to get out the white email us that one email us that one don’t try and do that one on the phone 916 yeah yeah send it to Joe 91691320 911691320 is the Elcro kid talk uh you can hit us up anytime phone lines are open I believe joe are the phone lines open phone lines are open phone lines are open absolutely absolutely and my trade in the trade machine which I’m very proud of i’m really excited to talk about it might have been derailed this morning by the Cleveland Cavaliers who announced that Darius Garland had to surgery not just regular toe surgery he’s out he’s out four to five months yes which is a big deal and we’ll talk about that we’re not going to talk about that up top but we’ll we’ll get more in depth into it when we get to our our trade machine idea they called it the great toe i don’t I’ve never heard of this in my life like it’s ridiculous big toe it’s your big toe it’s the thumb of the foot what are we talking about great toe the great toe look here you can you can either you when you if you’re going to do something like that when he has a a big toe injury you call it the big toe or you call it whatever the very technical doctor name for it is yeah there has to be like a very specific name right do we know i’m on the big toe Wikipedia right now it’s called the Hex h A L L Ux okay the hexock also called the big toe it’s the innermost toe normally called the big toe normally called the big toe this is how the Wikipedia page uh these are blah blah blah hang on oh I’m on the whole toe this is just toes in general but yeah it’s the And there’s different tarscels on there right there’s the distal fanges the intermediate fanges that’s like the middle joint and then there’s the proximal fanges oh no i’m sorry the proximal fanges are the is the middle one on the big toe like there are so many things you could have called this instead of the great toe i know this is like the person the PR person or the comms person who wrote this is the only person in the universe that uses great toe instead of big toe and they put that in there and just fired it off not a single person went call it the big toe or the hock are you talking about the big toe well yeah the great toe you’re like no one calls it that it’s insane the big toe world War I was called the Great War before there was a second World War and we needed to rename the Great War World War I because it was like “Oh there’s a second one.” Yeah world War I was supposed to be the war to end all wars and then there was just another one 30 years later so they called it the great You can’t have the Great War and the Great to the Th these things don’t add up i’m flumxed by this okay I’m going to spend the rest of the offseason trying to get to the bottom of this i have people who work for the Cavs i’m going to reach out and I’m going to find out who is responsible for these and then I’m going to reach out to that person and find out the deal with Great toe but either way Darius Garland because of his big toe surgery will be out four to five months which is a pretty big deal and uh it doesn’t really affect the Kings except for in my fake trade okay I’m with you i mean this it reminds me of it’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown which is one of the worst Charlie Brown like you know like seasonal movies it is it’s one of the worst so yeah I I don’t it could it could have been called it’s the big pumpkin Charlie Brown but it’s it’s the great pumpkin the great which makes sense in that in that context using great makes sense yeah what is like the the fourth toe over then is it like the It’s just the kind of eh toe the me toe the great toe the good toe the decent toe the eh the below average toe the below average toe the hooked toe and then there’s the little toe or in Cavs Parlament the weak ass toe the weak ass toe said trash toe over there insane uh all right weird weird we’ll talk more about Darius Garland hopefully less about his toes coming up here in a bit good morning good morning everyone it’s towalk on the insiders that’s Jim Sam i’m Kyle Madson tow Brazil behind the glass was sponsored by Jiffy Lube the great Brazil i love it i love it that is That’s too good oh man game two of the NBA Finals last night uh was a a boat racing it was what I sort of expected to see from OKC all series where they jump out to a big lead and then never really let the Cavs back into it they got it to to 20 plus at one point and the Cavs cut it to 13 but then OKC immediately got it back up to 18 they just kind of put a strangle hold on a game in the way we’ve seen all season and Indiana despite their their heroics in their late game magic throughout the postseason never hit the gas or were never able to hit the gas i think they tried yeah yeah yeah there was just more urgency from Oklahoma City and I was wondering and I was I was really impressed by the Thunder because that game one happened and I thought there’s two directions this can go this can turn into Oklahoma City folds because they got punched in the jaw for the first time really all year yep in the biggest in the biggest spot or they come back and that like that was a hit in the face that wakes them up and they go “Hey we’re we’re here we’re back we’re Oklahoma City we need to execute better.” And I thought they executed a lot better uh they got to 50/50 balls they were better on the boards they were just they they played a better game and game two went a lot like I thought the entire series would go and now this puts me in a spot where I wonder if this is how the rest of the series is going to go i’m not convinced i I mean I do think that there’s something about homec court advantage um there’s also something like I don’t know if you heard the stat while we were watching the game yesterday but OKC only lost two games in a row twice all season jeez they they never lost three in a row i mean when you only lose 14 but yeah I mean they never lost three games in a row i mean this team is just absolutely bonkers how good they were and how consistent they were and so for me um I I think that there was always going to be a bounceback i think you know we we see here in the chat uh Alderman Jay said “It’s the most predictable game ever.” I I agree 100% i knew that going into that game that that was going to be a 20 point 15 point 20 point win by OKC and I thought it could even be worse than that they came out they played with force they played with the the uh the right intensity for the moment yep but now they got to go back to Indiana and I’m not sure that that the carryover will be there i think this is still going to be a series and yeah I don’t I I’ve lost I’ve lost my I’ve I’ve let go of the rope on what I think of this series yeah because I I obviously I I I predicted a Thunder sweep that went away after one game and no but I I I I said this to to Damian when I was on DLO and KC on Friday that that was how I thought the game was going to go i thought Oklahoma City was just going to kind of control it because there’s that this is there’s that a push pull in these series where you just get a feel for oh man road team snuck in and won game one well they’ve done their job now yeah and they can they can as they’re walking off the court all they want go okay time to get greedy come on like you also know all right we did it we did what we came here to do yep we got one and you want to win game two but now Oklahoma City’s backs against the wall you can’t go down two nothing so now they’re going to come out and they’re going to play with a ton of force and Indiana just couldn’t quite match it and I’m with you i I I think this is still going to be a series but if Oklahoma City comes out they could play this exact same way i didn’t see anything that happened in game two that made me go “Oh well Indiana just didn’t hit shots or this didn’t h There was nothing out of the ordinary that happened in that game.” Yeah so what we’ve seen now is Oklahoma City in 96 minutes of basketball dominate for 93 minutes yeah and that is where I get a little bit worried where Okay i’m really hoping Indiana punches back here which history this postseason tells us they will yep but I am deeply concerned after watching yesterday and Oklahoma City just kind of going “Okay well they didn’t even change their starting lineup they didn’t do anything dramatically differently they just said “We’re going to play the same game.” And their role guys hit shots and they did the Oklahoma City thing and dominated it all yeah when I was watching though I think that number one they learned how to take away Tyrese and I also like they limited him greatly he had five turnovers a bunch of jump passes that were intercepted just a bunch of lazy passes and while I was watching it I I kind of got the feeling though that that you could sense that the Pacers are like “All right we’re not getting this one.” In like the midsec quarter they’re like “Oh we’re not getting this.” Yep so you know what we’re not going to do we’re not going to start doing a bunch of different things to show different looks we’re going to save that we’re going to save that for game three and all of a sudden we’ll be able to pull out one or two different plays one or two different looks that they that they’re not ready for and make adjustments but we’re not going to waste our adjustments in this game because that game felt like man I I don’t think you’re going to win that game from the start but also once you’re in it you’re like “Okay their 12point or 15 point lead in this game does not feel like the same that they had the game before where it was like it fluctuated between 9 and 13 forever.” That’s not what this was this felt like a team that had their thumb on top of your head pushing you down the entire time yep and there wasn’t going to be like a run they were too intense yeah but when they cut it to 13 in the late in the first half when the Pacers cut the lead to 13 Mhm i went “Oh here they are here come the Pacers they’re going to keep this around 12 or 13 the rest of the way and then try and push.” And it just never like you said the thumb on the head is a is a is a perfect perfect explanation or a perfect metaphor for what happened it was uh it was a dominant performance yeah from from the best team in the league it felt like they had a great thumb on their head yeah it sure did a great thumb the great the great thumb the great finger on top of their head pushing them down how good was Shay man 34 points 11 of 21 from the field five boards eight assists four steals a block 12 free throws i think the craziest thing for me is that I I looked it up he’s uh he scored 25 or more in 15 of their 18 playoff games good and he’s got 13 he’s got 30 or more in 13 of their 18 playoff games it’s just the consistency like every single game you can just you can write with Pen like 32 points plus mhm and like his ability to deliver even though everyone knows that’s what’s coming mhm like that’s the crazy thing like you you know what they’re going to do mhm like and if you can’t stop that it it’s just like it’s really crazy his ability to just get to his spot and then just create a little bit of space he had so many tough shots down the stretch he hit so many shots where it was it was not teetering but it was at the point where man if Indiana gets a stop and makes a three Mhm this starts to get interesting and every single time it got to that point Shay hit a tough shot as it felt like it yeah it really does feel like he’s the superstar version of Joe Johnson iso Joe or of of Demar De Roen like he’s just the superstar version like the version that’s just slightly better impactful yeah and those guys are both probably Hall of Famers i I think Joe Johnson might get there maybe not but that’s what they feel like they feel like players that just you know that when you need a big shot they’re going to come through they’re gonna figure out a way to get in isolation and and deliver and you know I don’t know i like he just feels inevitable yeah man and when he’s going to go for 34 and I think you made a great point too and then you’re going to get 20 from Alex Caruso and you’re going to get 18 from Aaron Wiggins and they’re going to combine to go nine of 16 from three you’re not beating Oklahoma City when that happens no that’s the sneaky thing about them they always have that that possibility of one or two of these guys popping up and and hitting you for 15 to 20 off the bench yep and I I think the Pacers have the same exact type of player that can come in off the bench and do that but what we’re seeing right now is the established one two three of OKC and then some other random guy that you’re not expecting so Case Wallace scores like four points but is super impactful defensively and then these other two come off the bench and just you know go crazy on you and if it’s not Alex Caruso and Aaron Wiggins it could be Isaiah Joe it could be Jaylen Williams it could be Lou Dort it they have just so they just come at you in waves and game two went how I thought the entire series might go so really interested to see game three excited for game three i I expect Indiana to I don’t think OKC is gonna roll again i I think that Indiana’s going to come out swinging it’s just a matter of whether that matters I would agree i could see like an eight-point win yeah for OKC yeah we’ll uh we’ll keep diving into that i want to talk about Tyresese Hallebertton some more though because I I I’m trying to come up with a comp for him because he’s a weird type of star who’s very very impactful but you have to like watch and you can’t look outside the box or you have to look outside the box score sometimes yesterday was a weird game for Tyresese Allebertton right after he had just elevated himself to the realm of superstar it felt like he took a tumble out of that tier yesterday and he’s just going to kind of continue fluctuating like he’s that middle point i want to talk about that okay we got that we’ve got our Kings trade that may or may not be affected by Darius Garland’s great toe we’ll get to that we got a sprinkle of NFL news that we’ll drop in here for you as well that’s James Ham i’m comin Joe Brazil is the producer of this program we’re the insider sponsored by Jiffy Lubon ESPN 1320 Sacramento’s sports leader e thank you Saurin yeah this is true joe Johnson was a seventime all-star did you know Joe Johnson was on the 2021 2022 Celtics I did not I had no clue he was drafted by the Celtics and then traded in 2001 he was on the two He was in the NBA in 2021 i thought Joe Johnson had been out of the league since like 2016 oh no he just kept playing he played 20 years oh sorry he signed a 10day with the Celtics to return to the franchise or drafted him i see okay he made one appearance made his only shot oh second player along with Dirk Nitzky to score a basket with the same team at the age of 20 and at the age of 40 that’s kind of crazy wow io Joe joe Cool big Shot Joe armadillo cowboy what not a real thing that’s dude that the armadillo cowboy is the one that sparked my noticing that Statad or or the reference people just run with whatever that’s that’s hilarious he like he’s a one-time AllNBA player but seven time all-star i I think you get in i don’t know i think Joe Johnson is the line was Joe John is was the player better or worse than Joe Johnson and if they were better than Joe Johnson they’d go to the Hall of Fame oh like the Mendoza line yeah okay the Menoza line okay the Mentosa line i guess we’re just Let’s do it let’s do it all day okay so I’m really confused and Joe Johnson made all-star teams averaging like 18 points 18.2 18.8 and then he made an all-star team with Brooklyn in 20134 averaging 15.8 points per game did you are you on are you on his basketball reference page bro he was traded to the Nets in 2012 in exchange for Jordan Farar Anthony Morrow Jordan Williams Johan Pro Deshawn Stevenson and a 2013 first round pick that’s a that’s a lot of names well he had a trade he had a contract that everyone said was untradeable and then he got traded twice with that contract right yeah yeah yeah at Jordan Farmar uh Kings Legend that lasted all of five minutes i thought uh Jordan Farar when he played looked like a NBA player i agree and I mean it was at a time where the Kings literally had some players that did not look like in uh NBA players and I I just thought hey look at that he played two games for the Kings but either way he looked like a competent NBA player and uh then he was gone man some some of the there’s a love of the game here that just he’s a Laker from ‘ 06 to 2010 then a Net from 2010 to 2011 obviously went there in that famous Joe Johnson trade mhm um no I’m sorry i’m sorry i’m sorry that was a couple years later um Joe Johnson did not play for the Lakers um then he goes to Makabi Tel Aviv mhm for a year then he comes back to the Nets then he plays for Anadolu Fis then goes back to the Lakers then to the Clippers then to Darus Safaka and Makabi Tel Aviv again then back to the Grizzlies and to the Kings wow now back to The Insiders with James Ham and Kyle Madson brought to you by Jify Lube on ESPN 1320 that’s James over there joe Brazil behind the glass i’m Kyle so it wouldn’t be a a Pacers game reaction day without talking about Tyresese Hallebertton’s place in the NBA hierarchy of course because we’re talking about at the break on YouTube at youtube.com/ ESPN1320 hello everybody watching there hello everybody in the chatty house also twitch.tv/esbn1320 if you’d like to join us there um we’re talking about Joe Johnson and what and and you’d kind of mentioned like man is he gonna get in the Hall of Fame and kind of I think Joe Johnson’s the line right if you’re better than Joe Johnson you can go to the Hall of Fame if you were worse you you don’t tyresese Hallebertton feels like he’s on that same line between star and superstar whatever it is because I think in game one you saw him impact a game and hit a gamewinner in such a way that you go man that is one of the 10 best players in the league yep you can’t look at the box score the box score is not going to pop like Shay Gilis Alexander’s 345 and eight in game two but man you watch the game and you just see the way he controls everything and manipulates defenses and man he’s so good and then despite the fact that he’s not going to be a primary scorer game in and game out he’s the guy who says “I’m taking the ball i’m taking the last shot.” And he finishes finishes the game with a with.3 seconds left and a gamewinner and all that jazz but then you go to game two and in game two he finishes with 17 points but through three quarters he had five yeah when it mattered he had five points or three quarters in the first half he’s one of five from the field with three points in the third quarter he goes one for two from the field with one point excuse me two points and he has five going into the fourth then in the fourth he has 12 but they were largely meaningless points his overunder was 16 and a half by the way he made a three to get it to 17 and then immediately came out of the game just wow just noting that jonte Porter somewhere going “What?” I mean there were people at my house going “What but no man it just I it’s it’s re it’s this is why it makes it tough to just with your whole chest go Tyresese Hallebertton is a top 10 player in the league because he came out in game two and was just like ah not impactful to me a top 10 player is a guy regardless of box score regardless of watching the game whatever it is they’re going to have an impact in that game on a game in gameout basis you know what you’re going to get and then you get games like this from Tyrese Hallebertton that just make me question everything I thought after game one i I get that but at the same time like this is one of the greatest defenses we’ve seen in the last like 20some years good point right and they have every player in the world that you can just throw at Tyrese Hallebertton no doubt they are grabbing and clawing at him the entire game there is somebody who literally has a handful of his jersey everywhere he goes on the court you can just watch him being traced and so for me like he’s got to figure out how to get loose they’ve got to do a lot more screens uh which is something that they don’t do a lot of they do a lot of like their pick and roll is more of a slip pick and roll mhm like it almost always uh Turner is rolling to the uh to the basket like before he even really sets the screen he’s there and then he’s kind of lightly getting in the way yeah yeah it’s not like a Demon Sabonis like you’re hung up and you can’t get loose and it might hurt somebody yeah yeah and you’re sitting there stuck for like eight seconds you’re out of the play the play is over for you demon Sabonis hit you um Yeah so for me like I I think that there’s going to that’s going to be one of the true uh changes that we’re going to see in the next game we’re going to start seeing a lot more screens and double screens to to free a Pallebertton because if he’s floating around and loose either as an offensive weapon to score the ball or as a passer then you’re toast and so that’s what right now OKC is trying to do now it’s like okay the the chess the chess board is is live what is uh what has Rick Carlilele got for him yeah I think just at some point like I said I and I I say this fully understanding knowing that so much of what Hallebertton does is assisting teammates setting up teammates i haven’t I don’t have the hockey assist numbers in front of me but I’m sure he gets several hockey assists by manipulating a defense kicking the one guy to to to get an open three in the corner off a off a swing i also think though there’s an element of being a superstar where when your team needs it you hit the gas yeah I get it and and score the basketball and he didn’t do that until the game was was largely over yesterday in the fourth quarter and that’s that’s I think where some people get hung up with Tyrese Albert there’s more to the game than just points but at the same time it’s really really hard to be to put a player because again when you’re talking superstar you’re talking LeBron James Steph Curry uh Shay Gildis Alexander Nikolai Joic that’s that’s the type of of player you’re talking about and Tyresese Hallebertton has more games with 11 or fewer points than he does games with 30 points in the playoffs yeah that’s wild so I think here’s the question I’d ask though when we’re when we’re like gauging somebody in like in this type of situation like when you’re in the playoffs shouldn’t you be better than you were in the regular season uh typically yeah should that be the standard that we’re going to hold him like that not only do you need to be consistent and you can even be consistently great but on top of that we accept expect you to elevate over what you have been in the past right like when you’re up against the toughest competition I could make the argument very easily that Shay Gildis Alexander was a better player in the regular season than he is in the postseason and you know he’s averaging 30.4 four versus 32.7 he’s shooting 40 uh 31 he’s still averaging 30 a night though i It’s not like he’s folding in the playoffs no no but my point is that we should see some sort of elevation so it it like we can it’s not just in like ballpoint pen you can you can basically tattoo 30 points down for Shay mhm like on the scorecard right so we should expect more from him as well and I I think he’s been great i I’m not saying that but I also like we need to make sure that we’re holding you know the tie to the same standard or we’re holding shade to the same standard because you’re gonna have bad games and and especially in a series where they have like 14 different looks that can throw at you and try to take you away and your teammates have to be better and they’ve got to be the reason why you’re loose so I don’t know shay Gildas Alexander has three games with fewer than 25 points in the playoffs yeah I know he’s been great he’s been I just Yeah I just I don’t I haven’t watched I’ve watched Indiana and multiple times not Not 20 it hasn’t even been 20 games not 10 but four times five times like man you really want more from Hallebertton here he’s going to be the best player he’s the 1A on this team like God I’d like a little more i’d like a little more from I have never watched the Thunder this year and gone ah needed more from Shay there no but he’s had some bad games he’s had some stinkers to be sure my point would be my the reverse is while I’ve seen Shay consistently score 30 32 almost every single night i’ve also watched Hallebertton go beyond above and beyond anything that anyone expected and come away with what is it five game winners or five like final second shots and that’s where and and that accelerates us to to the other side of this how much does the game toame matter if you’re the guy that in the final seconds of a tight game everybody knows that you’re taking the shot and everybody feels like you’re going to make it yeah and this gets back to this gets back to the the argument that people have been having since Skip Bais said LeBron James didn’t have the clutch gene right like this gets this gets back it’s just the other side of that it’s it’s I mean we talk about it with Deon Sabonis for example just to bring it to Sacramento here we go oh man I say we people in general go oh well I mean hey the numbers are great but hey playoff success hasn’t hasn’t had that it’s that that that sing that focus on a singular moment and with LeBron LeBron freaking James a consensus I don’t want to start a LeBron argument top top three top five player of all time yep who has ever put on an NBA uniform and for a long time people still go “Yeah but he doesn’t want to take the last shot.” And I think there that gets there’s such an outsized value in that that if you just know that a player he’s what Tyrese is what 10 of 12 on go ahead or gamewinning shots with five or fewer seconds left or whatever the insane stat is for him this year and just I think that elevates him where games like last night where he only has five points for three quarters and he was just largely not impactful you go okay well you sweep it under the rug because man if game three is close everybody knows Tai is going to take and make the winner there’s such a singular focus on that moment in the playoffs okay now let’s whittle it down final seconds tie game one-point game and he gets he’s just the man in the biggest moment which I think helps elevate his status beyond oh he scored fewer than 11 points this many times or whatever it is yeah I someone in the chat I think it was Rust Dog uh oh yeah is Hallebert and Robert A or great moments in the playoffs not in regular season no it was way better than Robert Ory yeah so the difference is Rust Dog so like all the focus every single bit of the focus is on Tyresese Hallebertton if you can stop and and force him to be a turnover machine and bully him then you’re going to beat the Indiana Pacers that’s been proven that’s that that’s how you beat them robert Ory was like the seventh best player on all of the seven championship teams he was on and that that in some of those situations that’s being generous the seventh best player u but he did hit a bunch of big shots uh Tai hits like I don’t remember a player hitting five shots like this just insane just Yeah like the one shot that uh the crazy one that shoots way up in the air that one forced overtime but all of the other ones are are full-fledged game winners drove around Giannis beat Giannis to the cup beat Giannis to the basket to win that series yep you had the rebound and the run out for three against the Cavs there was the the game one against uh Oh and then the the winner against OKC yeah i mean his flare for the dramatic is just nuts so if there is such such a thing as a clutch gene Tyrese Hallebertton has has like two of them is Tyresese Hallebertton Eli Manning you you wrote this in the rundown i’m like I don’t I I think Eli Manning is a bad uh It’s not an apples to apples comparison but Eli Manning Eli Manning is probably going to go to the Hall of Fame despite being 117 and 117 as a starting quarterback he was he has a 500 record as a starting quarterback but he went eight and four in the playoffs he his the only time Eli Manning won a playoff game was the two times he won the Super Bowl that’s wild he went 4-0 in those two Super Bowl runs and was 0 and1 in his other one two three four playoff trips that’s crazy but we know Eli Manning for the David Tyrie helmet catch and the sick ass throw to Mario Manningham in the second one against Patriots in the second Super Bowl and if you’re really looking at at Eli um he in an era of great quarterback play he is probably year in and year out like the 20th best quarterback he’s so and that’s why that’s where the the comparison falls apart for for me because Tyres Hallebertton is legitimately putting up really good numbers yeah yeah yeah he’s almost 19 18 and a half points nine assists he led the league in assists last year with 10.9 the year before that he was at 10.4 the year before that with Indiana he was at 9.6 six and finish year at 8.2 like he was he’s putting up numbers and he averaged last year he averaged 20 a game the year before that he averaged 20 a game he’s been an all-star twice he was all NBA eli Manning was never an allp pro he was a Pro Bowler four times in 16 years in a league where everybody gets into the Pro Bowl yeah I have like three Pro Bowl appearances yeah you do congratulations by the way that’s that’s awesome it just it he he the where he led the league statistically was in interceptions three times he never led the league in like yards or touchdowns or completion rate he was he was statistically pretty mid so I don’t want like I said that might be an insult to Tyrese Hallebertton saying he’s Eli Manning but it works a little bit the same way where nobody cares about Eli Manning’s stats nobody looks at Eli Manning and go “Yeah but hey man that interception 3% interception rate for his career.” like ooh yeah that’s not good but everybody know hey man the he beat the Patriots twice in the Super Bowl he beat Tom Brady twice in the Super Bowl and I kind of wonder if that’s the road Tyrese Hallebertton’s going down where again better player in the in the regular season all-star AllNBA type of player but never reaches that killer 30 points a game i bet he doesn’t What do you think he maxes out at Tyrese 21 a game 24 maybe there’s a season where he’s got like 24 yeah he’s never gonna be that guy who’s just dominating statistically but everybody knows hey can’t count out the Pacers because of Tyrese Hallebert and I think that matters a lot yeah and it’s something I like when we were coming into this discussion when we’re watching these two teams play I’m watching the Thunder and thinking “Oh this is the beginning of something great this could be again they could be in the finals like five to seven times in the next decade right they could win an NBA championship four or five times that’s like you’re watching like the beginning of something spectacular and the beginning of it they probably will win a title right now mhm when I’m watching the Pacers I just don’t feel that way at all like I’m I this could be the only time the Pacers ever make it to the NBA Finals and I shouldn’t think that because they made it to the Eastern Conference Championship twice in a row and they’ve earned their spot here i’m not saying that but when you go on a run and the fact is they needed five times for for Tyrus Hallebertton to go win a game how sustainable is what he’s doing this year well how sustainable is it like when like he’s got if they that’s who they’re going to be and you’re going to live and die by that type of play sure you got the dude with the clutch gene for sure but but how many times is that going to are you going to be able to get to a point where you have a moment where you can hit a gamewinner sure and the fact that they’ve had five of them this season just in itself that where the potential for a hit or miss is wild the fact that he’s hit them all is even crazier but then you start looking around like okay can they keep doing this and it and and again I love some of their young talent like the Nmith and Nemhard and Matherin like all those guys I I I do have faith that they’ll improve and get better as players even Tyrese Hallebertton isn’t that old um but you’re also going okay like the real Boston Celtics feel like they could have beat this team uh not the team that that fell apart in the playoffs this year um you know again the Knicks are going to reload are they going to be able to beat this team so I I don’t have the same like vision of that team being here every single year that you probably should yeah I feel the same way they played to your point they played 18 games and they’ve had five insane comebacks and not not Oh they were down 20 in the second half like no they were down is it Milwaukee they were down 10 with 57 seconds left it’s like 14 with with 90 seconds left right it’s just ridiculous it’s these It’s And And again I keep after one it’s like “Well they can’t do that again.” After two well they can’t do that again going into the series against Oklahoma City I went “They can’t do that again.” And then they’re down nine with 252 left and just churn their way back in and win it it almost It’s the reverse of when the Kings kept losing to the worst teams in the league and you’re like “Well that’s not going to happen again.” And then you’re like “Man how do you lose to what was it the Blazers Charlotte uh Detroit Washington uh I think we just like all of them yeah like how do you do that and then we’re watching the reverse of it a team that just continuously beats teams that like again the the graphic chart of lead changes and predictability of within a within a game it just throw it out the window it doesn’t matter anymore yeah they keep breaking win probability charts now again how sustainable is that no idea but it is super fun for this year and this Tyrese Hallebertton discussion isn’t going away and this isn’t a Sacramento thing either no this isn’t even about like oh man should they have traded or sh like they did this is that’s not even what this is about anymore this is just a fascinating NBA story and I would love to see what the discourse is if Indiana wins this series i I it feels like Tyrese Hallebertton’s entire career arc is riding on whether they win this series or not because you’re right they may never get back to this point yeah and Tyresese Hallebertton is just a dude that averages 20 points and 10 assists and is out in the first or second round every year yep in which case we feel a lot differently about him and the Pacers all right i have a Kings trade idea that we need to get to yep i feel great about it we’ve also got a sprinkle of NFL news that I want to get to as well uh that’s all coming up james Ham I’m Kyle Madson joe Brazil on the ones and twos we’re sponsored by Jiffy Lube this is ESPN 1320 and it is Sacramento Sports hey kill uh kill the mics for a second anyways hello everyone hi guys have you gone to go see uh Lilo and Stitch i did yesterday i was gonna I wanted to know like I cried a lot of times that’s okay great film what a what a movie i I liked that it wasn’t a just shot forshot remake of the of the animated one oh it’s not i thought it was no there’s definitely some like shot forshot the guy dropping his snowco and like that there’s some shot forshot okay type of stuff but the story line’s a little bit different well that’s good i’m saying general storyline but there’s some details that are a little different yeah because I I really enjoyed it i had a great time watching that movie how to Train Your Dragon that’s that’s the next one that’s coming out right it’s live yeah that looks so sick it does and I wonder if they’re going to go shot for shot or if it’s going to be different yeah to me you have to you you have to do it different yeah and it sucks i don’t Yeah i don’t know if they could even recreate that it would not be easy shot for shot for How to Train Your Jazz it looks sick though they’ve brought you know they have Ray Stevens as the as a dad and he passed away uh like so like the sequel yeah um you know he he of course won’t be there for Yeah they didn’t record pre-record anything for it but yeah I did not see Dumbledore ballerina i did not see Ballerina this uh this weekend but I probably will at some point I’m going to sit down and I’m going to consume the entire John Wick oh you have cinematic universe i’ve seen the first one oh that’s a good point i got to do that i might go see Ballerina tonight with my oldest love of other great content on the on the Odyssey app we’re just partial to ESPN 1320 all right before we get to my Kings trade idea I want to get to some some NFL news that may or may not pertain to the 49ers a couple interesting players were released today the Bengals released linebacker Germaine Pratt and the Packers released Pro Bowl corner Jier Alexander let’s start with uh let’s start with Gier Alexander because that’s the one I had written down first yeah Jar Alexander is a 28-year-old twotime Pro Bowler coming off a year where he only played seven games coming off backto-back years only played seven games he’s dealt with the knee injury that he said he was going to be able to play through and then he wasn’t but in 2022 we’re talking about a guy who was second team all pro in 2020 he was also a second team all pro this is the type of player that he has in 2021 he played four games 2023 he played seven last season he played seven this is a player who’s dealt with injury stuff but when he’s good he’s really really good when he’s healthy he’s really really good yeah and he’s still only 28 i mean quarterbacks are usually good until they’re you know 31 32 they’re a position that hold up typically yeah um I I don’t know like if I’m the 49ers I mean you’ve brought in some young guys to play the position but just having great depth at at defensive back i mean wasn’t there a season when the 49ers lost like every defensive back they had and they were on like their 14th and 15th defensive backs at one point not that many but um but a lot mhm yeah i mean this is a player that that has uh a lot of skill a lot of long-term productivity and like if you can get him for cheap um I’m in yeah dude and that’s where And that’s where you hit the nail on the head with this i’m not saying the 49ers should give a four-year $120 million deal to Gyar Alexander get him in the middle no give him a one-year he probably he I don’t want to say league minimum because I think there will be some kind of of of market for him but you’re not trying to spend big money you’re not trying to push a bunch of money into the future you can sign into a one-year deal this year it doesn’t need to be void years give him five six million whatever whatever it’s going to take to get him in your building and maybe he gets hurt and that’s why you have the young players that you have but to me if you can get a veteran in the building because the 49ers their their secondary right now is Demodor Lenor good player it’s Renardo Green who’s a secondyear player second round pick last year played well as a as a rookie but not not earthshattering like oh my god he’s he’s a future All Pro but he was good looks like a starter and then outside of that you don’t have a proven starter on your roster you drafted Upton Stout in the fourth round something like that fourth round drafted up in Stout in the fourth round and he’s really undersized probably going to have to play in the slot he played outside a little bit in college but like there’s there’s I think he’s he’s going to be limited positionally a little bit third round number 100 if you can get That’s right yeah nick Martin was the other third round pick the if you can get a veteran corner a two-time allp pro in your building you do that like this is this is the kind of move that if the Bills signed Garier Alexander everyone’s going to be like “Wow Brandon Bean has done it again the Eagles signed Gyier Alexander wow Howie Roseman’s done it again wow look at him building out that depth and just getting all Get him in your building this doesn’t have to be a constant and and this goes a little bit against I have a I have a thing on the 49ers need to get better players who are young but we’ll we can do that later like you said he’s not a 35year-old he’s a 28-year-old coming off a couple of injuries you’re going to get him for cheap if you get him in your building and it works out you might have an allpro corner across from Diodor Lenor with Renardo Green who is a a bright young player in your secondary if it doesn’t work out you still have all of the players that you had take a crack with an allp pro you’ve spent no money this off season for for free agents brock Py got paid george KD got paid fred Warner got paid i got that but you’ve not spent shell out a little to help a position that you need i I’m in on both these guys to be honest with you yeah let’s talk about Germaine Pratt yeah cuz like I I think your depth at the linebacker position like just look at their depth right now and say how much are you relying on young players to be stars mhm and if you’re overly relying on some of young players to hold down a position of great need we saw what that team looked like without Greenwood last year and was not good you need to bolster that linebacker position it’s very possible they have a star there in the making in their young their young third round pick right yeah yeah but if I can get if I can get a linebacker without having to give up draft compensation or future draft compensation if I can get a defensive back without having to give up that same exact thing and these players walk in the door and they’re better than what I already have and now I don’t have to rely on a rookie uh to actually come through and and make your team better or a secondyear player like this is big especially when you you look at the defensive end they picked up like all of a sudden you’re giving up a a fifth round pick who was the defensive end they picked up from michael Williams yeah no from Phil bryce yeah bryce you if you add Bryce you add again Germaine Pratt you add Jire Alexander all of a sudden you your free agent poll for this year looks like middle of the road yeah yeah like not the worst in the NFL but middle of the road and like okay now you add that with all the cuts you made to save money you add that with all of the players you retained for longer term deals whether it’s KD or you know like how many of their or uh Fred Warner or Brock Party you locked all those guys up now you spend a get one or two year deals on these guys where you’re not overextending yourself that just makes way too much sense to bolster the depth of your team now and then if somehow an offensive guard or an offensive tackle pops up you still don’t they still have like 44 million right now yeah the money financials under the salary cap are not a problem yeah you want to carry some of that over into the next season for sure but if you end up spending you know 18 or 20 million bucks here on the back end it wouldn’t even be that yeah no you’re probably right but I mean if you just kept going because I also think they need a wide receiver yeah yeah there so this is where the Germaine Pratt thing is interesting because this is a he started 34 games the last two years with with Cincinnati had 143 tackles last season six pass breakups but I don’t think the 49ers I think they would be interested in a Ger Alexander type of player a veteran quarterback that they think they can get in the building and and who could start for them right away as long as he’s healthy right if if the medicals are a disaster and they don’t think he’s going to get on the field this year then don’t don’t waste your time but if he’s healthy and he looks like he can play and he works out for you and you’re like man hey he looks really good then yeah sure germaine Pratt I I’m more skeptical that they would go add mostly because he was really really good in 22 I had to go look i I couldn’t remember if it was last year or a couple years ago but he was really really good in 22 like across the board and looked like an ascending player and since then has just never quite gotten back up to that production and he struggled a little bit and I think the 49ers are looking at their linebacker room and they’re going Nick Martin third round pick this year d Winters a player that they really like who was a sixth round pick a couple years ago 2023 i think they’re looking at Tatum Bthoon they drafted last year in the seventh round i think they’re looking at those guys and going “Okay they’re going to compete for this will linebacker spot.” This starting the Will linebacker just for uh if you’re not familiar there’s the middle linebacker that’s the mic that’s Fred Warner he’s on the field all of the time then you’ve got the Will linebacker who is on the weak side who is on the field all of the time the the Will linebacker is a three down player then you’ve got the Sam linebacker that’s a strong side linebacker who’s only on the field in like base downs and in like run situations basically they played 30ish% of the snaps so the Will linebacker is the other starting spot like that’s that’s the big one and they’re they need to find they know how valuable Drelaw was that’s why they tried at the last second they tried to get Dre Green law back and tried to get him to back out of his agreement with the Broncos to to come back to San Francisco they saw and you pointed out how much they struggled when Devandre Campbell was on the field last year oh he was horrible like they were and and I think that’s partly just because Devandre Campbell’s not good at football but you saw the impact it has on the 49ers defense and it wasn’t the only problem their defensive line stunk uh I think their secondary struggled at times they had some injuries on that side of the ball fred Warner was playing on a broken ankle for 13 weeks and he was still a first team all pro but that will linebacker spot is just so so vital and I think it’s why they gave D winter burn there last year i think it’s why they’re trying to get they they drafted Nick Martin specifically because Kyle Shanahan called him the best run and hit linebacker in the draft they think he can be that type of player so I think they’re going to give those guys a chance before they bring in a Germaine Pratt type who should probably start for a team somewhere and if they want to bring him in as their third linebacker if he can play the Sam spot okay but that’s the kind of move I don’t think they’re going to make because they want Okay hey there’s some young players that we’re excited about we’re gonna let them cook whereas at cornerback it’s like yeah you got some young players you’re excited about but also it’s a lot of question marks and a and a pretty vital spot and I think if you’re going with an allp pro versus a guy like Germaine Pratt who’s never even been a Pro Bowler you have more Pro Bowl appearances than Germaine Pratt that’s facts so I think that’s where it wouldn’t shock me at all if we heard the 49ers kick tires on on Alexander it’d be pretty surprised if they go after another linebacker though i think they like their room quite a bit i’m taking them all like whoever you can just keep signing guys i wouldn’t hate it man it’s not It’s not my money yeah go get Go get as as much depth as you can possibly get all right we got a second hour coming up kings trade idea i went through the trade machine i worked it out the the the money works i threw in some picks we’ll see if I can fix the Kings in this one trade we’ll do that next in the second hour that’s James i’m Kyle joe Brazil is going to push the button we’re the insider sponsored by Jiffy Lub with ESPN 1320 Sacramento Sports leader thanks Joe yeah man campbell was so bad last year brian had a good season last year he started 17 games he had 143 combined tackles 80 solos five tackles for a loss four QB hits i don’t know i’m not looking up advanced statistics on them kyle has that link but pretty solid i just keep adding players like this team just isn’t deep enough and you hope you’re you’re just banking so much on young players it’s tough how much time do we have short one oh yeah less than a minute yes is the answer to this although by year eight I think Fox had just kind of like he was disappointed in the direction of the team and where it had gone yeah I don’t think he’s going to be the same either it’s really unfortunate good luck with your surgery hour number two that’s James Ham i’m Kyle Madson and Joe Brazil on the ones and twos we’re sponsored by Jiffy Luben we’re hanging out with you until noon and then we’ll hand it off to DLo and KC and those guys we’ll take you up to four o’clock right here on Sacramento Sports Leader ESPN 1320 all right I have a King’s Trade idea that was derailed a little bit by news this morning that Darius Garland had surgery on his quote unquote great toe and I need this to be very clear i need this to be abundantly clear i don’t like to respond to one person who replies to me on the internet oh yeah i hate doing that because it’s ostensibly yelling at a straw man but we’ve got an extra minute here to kill so I’m going to yell at a straw man okay I’m here for it i’m going to call him out too tom Whit if you’re listening which judging on your response to our listen now tweet uh you’re not listening we did a bit earlier about the calves using the term great toe instead of big toe or hock I believe is the medical name for the big toe or the jumbo toe or the innermost toe yes so we were did some jokes about using great toe the term great toe right the term itself not big toe tom Wit who didn’t listen because neither of us were making lie to the fact that Darius Garland had a toe injury if you stub a toe I’ve stubbed toes and been like I’m not doing anything today yeah I’m done i can’t imagine having like a a a injury in your toe that is so bad that you need surgery on it that’s got to hurt to the point that you can’t move neither of us made light of the toe injury it’s the calves pressure release tom went lol it’s just so funny how big toe injuries seem so joked about with most sports talk radio professionals when literally it is the catalyst of movement and balance and a big factor in humans being professional athletes to allow you to have a job lol respect it more bro I I would have had more respect for this if he would have said when literally it’s a catalyst of movement and balance and a great factor in humans good point being professional athletes i don’t know man we just not like Darius that’s a huge deal he’s out four to five months four to five months we’re not making light of a toe injury dog no we’re making the fun of Cal’s use of of great versus right i’m wrong i’m I You know me when I’m wrong I will raise my hand and be like “Yep on me i was wrong.” Yeah and when I’m wrong about a thing and you want to come down my road fine like you you when I’m wrong let me have it when we’re wrong let us have it yeah but if you’re going to reply and lecture us about the importance of the hock at least make sure we’re making fun of the injury first which is not a thing we would do on this program no especially like people know I love to to dive into the injury and a lot of people get uncomfortable when I start talking about injuries and like all this stuff like but we’re not doctors but we play one on the radio yeah we’re not we’re not making him fun of a an injury we’re making in front of the press release literally we’re making fun if that had been a comm’s professional and it’s like “Hey actually you’ve never worked in PR here’s why they used great toe.” And gave me a lecture about why they use that phrase cool i will shout you out but do not yell at us for a thing we didn’t do that’s right i actually to be honest with you when I first saw the tweet from Shams Mhm i didn’t realize that the Cavs had sent out a medical release and then all of a sudden other people retweeted the medical release so Shams just basically pulled something from Yeah and put it in there i thought that Shams was being like crazy pretentious and calling it the great toe and I’m like come on Shams like what you just going to like decide to change the name of a of a toe that’s Do we think Shams is even aware of that like do you think that registers as a weird thing to him oh I’m sure he was like I feel like he’s so I feel like he’s so robotic with just getting scoops and making sure that he’s tweeting out news that he doesn’t register that kind of thing he didn’t even get the scoop though he He It was 2 minutes after the Cavs put it out there right but he’s got to make sure that he tweets it out so he can get the the pub for it yeah yeah yeah i bet that doesn’t even register to Shams either way it’s a big toe not a great toe oh yeah it is so I’m going to I’m going to not change my trade at all because Darius Garland is in my trade that I’ve sused out for the Kings i’m I’m here for it okay here’s what we’re going to do i’m sending I’m doing a trade with the Cavs and this is largely because I I hit my guy who who uh does a does a Cavs podcast but like is the Cavs podcast he is the guy for cast mhm and I I hit him up and I’m like “Hey is there any chance that they move on from Garland?” And he was like “No I don’t think so because they want Donovan Mitchell to do have to do less not more.” And blah blah blah but then Zack Low on his podcast the Zack Low podcast was like “Hey don’t take your eye off Darius Garland this off season.” Like just something to watch and he even mentioned “If I’m the Kings I maybe call the Cavs about Darius Garland right now and just slow play it.” just like “Hey just gauging interest and see if you can go get Darius Garland.” So I said “You know what Zacklo bet I’ll try.” So I’ve got Darius Garland and Jared Allen going to the Kings now you’re just getting selfish go ahead but I’m sending back Deanna Sabonis and Devin Carter and I’m going to send a top 10 the Kings top 10 protected 2027 first round pick and Charlotte’s 2026 second round pick in 2027 okay so Sabonis and Devin Carter sabonis Carter a top 10 protected first and Charlotte second next year okay so you might have to you might have to throw in another first yeah I’m going to guess that like if you were to go to them and they they want to start over uh or at least uh they want they want draft cap capital mhm i would think you’re probably it would cost you like what you said about I’m going to guess at least two first round picks and unprotected so maybe one of your own unprotected and maybe either the Spurs or the Timberwolves unprotected okay so here’s how I like I said I adjusted it i I wound up adjusting it a little bit because of the toe let’s remove the toe injury from this for a second okay so if the toe injury if you I’ll factor in the toe injury I would because again this is four to five months which means he’s not expected to return if it’s four months from today that’s October 9th like we’re talking start of the year yeah yeah and then he’s got to ramp up and he’s got to get So you may not be getting and if it’s five months you’re not getting full strength like full speed Darius Garland until mid to late November well not only that but it’s a toe injury we don’t know how you know how it will respond we don’t you know because guys who have like turf toe problems at at the NFL level usually continue to have turf toe problems their entire careers like it’s it’s something that happens and then it’s really really difficult for you to ever be like 100% back to normal well and you and I know as well as anybody that the the big toe is the catalyst of movement and balance it is and it’s a big factor in humans being professional athletes that’s very true you and I know that as well as anyone yes so no so so here was the the original trade I I had penned out because again this is this is going to sound like a lot but again you’re the Cavs won 64 games and you were taking two of their very good players two of their starters two of their starters so the original trade was both of the Charlotte second rounders a top 10 protected Kings first in 2027 uh the unprotected Minnesota 2031 and the Kings 2031 which has the swap with the with the So you had three first three it’s yeah three first two seconds Devin Carter and Domos okay for Darius Gar I mean I I think it’s very possible the Cavs like they turn that down yeah they might yeah yeah i mean if they’re looking for draft capital that’s one thing but uh for me like I don’t hate that trade like that’s that’s something where you consider because Jared Allen is one of the most like underappreciated players in the NBA like statistically speaking like he does so much that just changes things and he’s also more of a you know well first of all he’s a better way better defensive player but he’s he’s a true rim protector mhm um and Garland is is a top tier score like I I think and that also would leave you with the like the Demar Rosen contract to work with to go get different players it would leave you with uh Zack Lavine’s contract to go get different players um yeah I don’t know if you’re going to win a ton of games with Garland and uh Lavine as your starting back court because of the defensive issues sure but I do think that you know if you can find a way to to move a Keon Ellison and Keegan Murray into that starting lineup all a sudden you have three really really good defenders yeah man and Darius Garland’s the kind of player that like we’ve talked about this and again I don’t even know if the the Cavs would make him available and I don’t know if they would even do this specific trade but just let’s talk about Darius Garland in a vacuum here let’s say there is a trade that the Kings and Cavs work out and again if you missed it this this thought kind of started because Zack Low who talks to a lot of people and knows a lot of people basically said “If I’m the Kings I’m keeping an eye on Darius Garland and I’m slow playing it and like calling now and going “Hey is this a thing?” No okay well hey let let us know and trying to So again that that just kind of got my brain working a little bit no and the reason I focused so hard on Darius Garland and you’re right maybe that toe injury he’s just never quite the same but you’re talking about a guy who’s he’s only 25 yep he has been in the league for six years now he’s averaging he’s been an all-star over the last four years he’s averaging over 20 points a night uh he’s a career 38.8% three-point shooter on 6.1 attempts a game he’s 45% from the field uh 53% effective field goal percentage like this is a this is a good player and we have talked about time and time again this off season can you try and find that trade that maybe brings back a player who again I don’t think Darius Garland is going to turn into Sha Gil just Alexander mhm but can you find that player that gets into gets to your team gets a little bit of a different role gets a little bit of an elevated role and just elevates to that perennial all-star perennial AllNBA type of guy i think Darius Garland has that level of talent and he fits the point guard need yeah I mean he definitely fits a point guard need um you’re I mean he’s a smaller player at 61 um but yeah I think he’s a player that I would put on a long list of of players that I would gamble on like there are players that you know again different degrees of do I I’m never been someone who loves to watch Trey Young play basketball if the Kings go get Trey Young though um I I think it it’s not the end of the world you know he is an elite scorer he is an elite assist guy and you know there’s more room for growth but I also think there are these other players out there that we should all be looking at and Garland being one i think Tyrese Maxi I don’t think Philly is going to move off of Tyrese Maxi no but if you were to go overpay for Tyrese Maxi you never know and so I I would put put Garland in that that same sort of he’s not as good as Maxi and he’s not as good a two-way player as Maxi um but I think he’s more attainable but Gar Garland yeah yeah I think so too it really does depend on what they’re looking to do next to Donovan Mitchell yeah they’re they’re they’re going to be really interesting it’ll be really interesting to see how Indiana operates uh especi if they if they lose the finals because like the Cavs I don’t I don’t know that they’re at a point where they’re going “Yeah let’s trade two starters.” Yeah and you’re getting Domas back which which does take ideally some of the work off off of Donovan Mitchell’s plate i think he’s a really great pairing next to to Evan Mobley you could if you’re the Cavs and and you’re a believer in in Demon Sabonis I think you could talk yourself into it where man hey we’re the team that this works the best he’s a damn near walking triple double certainly a walking double double and we think we can maximize his impact next to Evan Mobley and with with all these shooters that we have and take some of the work off off of Donovan Mitchell yeah so that’s where where I think this works for the Cavs now I don’t know that they want to make a change that dramatic so that’s where this is interesting and that’s why if you’re Scott Perry and we’ve talked about this before too make the calls make the call and see and again don’t don’t throw your don’t don’t throw everything on the table right now but just call it if if I don’t even know who the Cavs GM is right now i almost said David Griffin that’s been 15 years since David Griffin yeah he’s not there whoever the Cavs GM is mike Ganzy mike Ganzy obviously thanks Joe if you call him and he goes “Absolutely not darius Garland is our point guard of the future no chance goodbye.” Okay but if he goes Let’s We’re watching the Giannis thing we’re watching the KD thing let’s Let’s wait and see how this works out like that just opens that door for you so I I think and if you’re out on moving Domas fine i I I I guess I just I look at Darius Garland as a player who fills the point guard need and does so as a caliber of player who I think could could be a allNBA type of guy someday and if you can get that player in here for without gutting Ken Murray and Keon Ellis and and whatever else Mhm i I think you do it yeah i I don’t hate it um again I I’ve never been someone who is is sitting here saying “Hey trade Domos trade Domos.” It’s just not me at all um but I definitely could see a world in which either you know where Jiren Allen becomes available to be honest with you mhm um he just signed a three-year extension I I I think so he makes 20 million this year but then it goes to 28 30 and 30 32.5 mhm but man he is good he just impacts the game in so many ways that people don’t see u yeah one of the most like again advanced statistics like genius he’s one of those guys that that just does so much on the court he shoots 70% from the field mhm like he’s led the league in in field goal percentage um yeah i mean again I I will continue to The only the only Just to be clear the only way I’m trading Sabonis here is if I’m getting this type of if it’s in this type of deal where I think you’re adequately replacing him with Jared Allen and you’re getting a starle point guard in the building yeah you’re getting at least an all-star level player yes yeah yeah and a and a and a dynamite starting center yeah yeah a very very good starting center uh Jared Allen led the league in offensive rating this year wow he posted a 142 offensive rating and a 108 defensive rating accord according to basketball reference yeah he’s like to me again he’s so impactful i’ve always like dreamed of having a center that actually blocks shots and and plays defense i I don’t believe in block shots but having rim protection is like a a great thing and the other thing he’s been in the league eight years he’s 27 years old he just turned 27 in April he’s going to be 27 for all of next year and he’s locked up for longterm long term anyways that’s my that’s my king’s trade i’m listening i’m listening and you know like for me to say “Hey I’m listening on a potential demon Sabonis trade.” I know it all right that’s where we’re at let us know 9169320 91691320 thumbs up or thumbs down it’s Demon Sabonis and Devin Carter three firsts just and a hall of picks we’ll say that for Jared Allen and Darius Garland joe’s two thumbs up joe’s way in dig it all right all right we got some working stuff is that all right i feel like I’m missing something oh here we go bill Simmons thinks there’s a massive trade already done in the West that could move the Kings down even further in the West hierarchy we’ll talk about it next that’s James Ham i’m Kyle Mads and Joe Brazil’s with us we’re the insider sponsored by Jify Loop it’s ESPN 1320 Sacramento Sports i want to let you guys know in the chatty house that today has been a have to close the chatty house day because the toe puns are all really good lot of toe puns two toes up and I’m having a and I’m having a I’m having a really really good time reading this good job to everyone i knew when we set the tone with the toe talk in the morning that it was literally the tone uh I knew that this is what the chat was going to be all day so make sure you guys carry it over too because I’m sure they’ll be confused salute yeah yeah this is it show got it dto is crazy don’t say that this is just really a strange thing um Patty Mills has officially been hired as a general manager of the Hawaii men’s basketball team patty Mills salute bro i hope that that means Patty Mills is retiring from the NBA and he’s going to go live in Hawaii and be the GM of the Hawaii men’s basketball team what a life yeah i mean I really hope that’s what he’s doing and it’s not going to be one of those like remote things no I mean but he’s Australian that’s why it it it seems strange i would have expected him to go uh go back home if not stay I mean stay here but if he was going to go do stuff like coaching or GM it would be like in the the MBL right and maybe he gets there eventually h that’s how Al Michaels started his broadcasting career when the Hawaii Islanders were in the Pacific Coast League he was the broadcaster for the Hawaii Islanders h and he said he lived in an apartment in a beautiful apartment with like a pool and he’d wake up and he’d go down and he’d be by the pool all day or be by the beach all day and then he’d go up shower go call a baseball game what a freaking life yeah it’s a pretty good life vibe out in Hawaii call some baseball and go home did you ever read the um Ethan Strauss like story where he went to go hang out with Don Nelson yes yeah that was crazy is that the one where he like set it all up and then he walked into Don Nelson’s house and Don Nelson was like “Who who the hell are you?” Yeah some Why are you here yeah he was in Dallas last night and it was the first time he’d left Maui in seven years really yes wow the dude just chills at home and gets stoned all day shout out to Don Nelson now back to the insiders with James Ham and Kyle Madson brought to you by Jiffy Lube on ESPN 1320 hey James is there i’m Kyle he’s Joe we’re hanging out till noon we were talking last segment we’re talking about a fake trade I made up where Demon Sabonis Devin Carter three first and a couple of seconds go to the You can probably take out the seconds let’s just call it three first go to the Cavs for Darius Garland and Jared Allen mhm and Loki Trickster asked why three first in that trade because I think that’s what it would take to get the Cavs to move off of Darius Garland yeah it’s either two or three well that I don’t think they’re just going to Same with Jared Allen i mean yeah you’re you’re getting two of their starters and then Devin Carter is still a question mark and I think Domas would be would be a good player for them but I I don’t I don’t think they’re just looking to give away a couple of players so you’d be giving them something back yeah and then I think you’d also need to to further incentivize that deal so that’s why that’s why I threw in the first well that and and I mean Jared Allen is a is a one-time all-star um he’s one of the better defensive players in the league but also offensively he’s just incredible like we always talk about like the lob threat that Malik Monk would need this is the dude he’s also just a great guy just a just a really good locker room guy yeah i mean I like if I were the Kings I would I would definitely like if he becomes available available by himself I that would be a player that I would chase and move Dom to the four scooter asked does that many picks set them back much feels like a lot I don’t it’s the first would be well they have nine first round picks be next year’s first the unprotected Minnesota 2031 pick and the Kings 2031 pick which is a swap top with the Spurs so two of those are in 2031 i I I can’t express enough how much I don’t care about picks in 2031 yeah I get it you don’t want to just give them away right you don’t want to be like “Hey here’s a 2031 first for Kelly Ubé.” Like obviously you’re not going to do that uhuh i don’t know why Kelly Ray got a stray there but whatever um if you’re giving up those picks to get a player players in a deal that gets you Darius Garland and Jared Allen mhm i have zero concern giving up 2031 first because that is six years in the future that is a future GM problem i am I am dealing those picks and if it turns out that those Oh my god we needed those in 2031 mhm scott Perry’s probably not here anyway so I’m making that move now because I think it gives you the best chance to be the most amount of competitive both now and extending your window where hey you know what in 2031 you’re probably pretty good and those picks matter a lot less yeah i mean that’s the hope you’re always trying to hed your bet and you know I especially with this Bill Simmons thing that we’re going to get to in a second go ahead yeah i I think when I’m looking at the picks so just so we back out once we hit July 1st the Kings have every pick from 2026 until 2032 so they have seven of their own although there is the pick swap potential with the 2031 mhm on top of that they have the San Antonio Spurs 2027 unprotected and the Timberwolves 2031 unprotected so a 27 and a 31 both unprotected from other teams so Mhm this is what little It’s the war chest that you have mhm those two unprotected picks that’s what you you went and got for for uh De’ar Fox mhm right so for me if you’re going to improve this team it may cost you what you got for Dear Fox but that’s the point you know like in in European soccer it’s weird they do this whole thing where like you you come to an agreement with the player and then you come to an agreement with a buyout for a team so if there’s a great player out there and you really want to get your hands on this player you can go to the team that he’s playing for offer him a hundred million bucks for the player and then you have to go back and work out a weekly contract for the player if they say yes and then once it’s all said and done and you can go back and forth they can negotiate with multiple teams all this stuff it gets wild and crazy right well that’s it’s kind of the same way because when you get that 100 million for a player typically you go back out and you buy two $50 million players or you buy $150 million player whatever it is that money just kind of it moves around but it’s not something that you’re often just shelling out you also have money coming back from other players that you traded or sold and that’s where I kind of relate it to uh to this deal where you made the the De’arren Fox trade you got a $16.8 million trade exception from that you got a couple of second round picks most of which you already used to obtain Jake Larabia and Yonas Valenunis but then on top of that you have these two really really good first round picks those picks don’t hurt you at all they’re just extras that you have that might end up being gold i mean there’s nothing that says San Antonio san Antonio right now is trying to make some move which you’re going to talk about so that pick may change in value but the 2031 I think we can all see 2031 being a year where Minnesota could be in a much different place they could not have Anthony Edwards they could clearly Rudy Goar’s probably gone by that point julius Randle’s gone by that point a huge percentage of what their core is now is gone so now you could that could be a top three pick be a top five pick yeah so you just don’t know someone said in the chat I would like to find them stand by there it is tj said “We will still be Kings fans in 2031 so it’s a problem then it’s a problem now i at some point you have to take a risk you have to take a swing.” Yeah you’re giving up these picks to say “Hey we’re taking this big swing with Jared Allen and Darius Garland.” And again this this is not a report i I Kyle made this trade up you would be making this move in the hopes yes there’s risk maybe by 2031 the Kings stink and they’re like man you know what and Minnesota stinks and they have the number one pick and it’s like man you know what ah that pick belonged to us but I would rather that and you went for it now than hey you know what we’re going to hang on to these picks we’re going to see yeah no we’re going to just kind of hang on to what we got all right we won 42 games we were playing team we lost again okay but next year no can’t trade the picks don’t want to do any of that like if you sit around and that’s what that’s what happened to Monty McNair you sat around you waited for the perfect move waited for the perfect move waited for the and then like dude you run out of time the perfect move ended up being you getting fired yes right you just you you just didn’t you sat on your hands and you just oh want to maintain flexibility want to do that at some point you got to go mhm you got to go for it and if it’s not if going for it is not hey hired Scott Perry hey hired Doug Christie it’s a new era if that’s not the time to go for it then I don’t know when is if it’s not if you’re not ready to get rid of future picks particularly picks that don’t necessarily belong to you like it’s a Spurs pick swap and it’s it’s it’s the the Minnesota pick like just move those you move that to try and win you got to you have to take a swing because yeah you know what it might come back to bite you but also Darius Garland might just be an AllNBA guy darius Garland might carry you to the Western Conference Finals like that’s that again there’s a push pull there’s a riskreward and if you never take that risk you’re going to be be perpetually mid well I totally agree i mean like look the Indiana Pacers made the moves for Seakum that the Kings passed on yep they gave up a bunch of stuff they made the move though they’re in the NBA finals and and I will tell you that if the Kings somehow made a move to go get Pascal Seakum two years ago and they had a a team with De’aran Fox and Kevin Herder and you probably had to give up Malik Monk in that deal but um but you’re talking Keegan Murray and Deon Sabonis and Pascal Seakum like you could still be playing yep right now like I mean there is a pathway there for you to at least make the Western Conference Finals and you didn’t do it yep and that’s that’s where like it’s so close and you watch some of these teams go out and they do these ridiculous moves for superstars that you know they come in the door and you think “Oh they’re an instant championship contender and they’re not.” going out going out and getting a really really good all-star level player that fit fits next to your other two all-star level players and allows your young player to go play his natural position where he can grow and become a really good player that just it made too much sense and they they didn’t make the move so that’s where like you do have to you’ve got to put yourself out there you know you can’t just sit there the whole time and go “Okay what are we going to do?” Your team just keeps getting older and worse like every team in the league that’s what happens yep and you can’t And you can’t control like there’s just certain things you can and can’t control and to me I want to do whatever I think can this move make me better this year and for the next two or three years like yes it can cool let’s do that i would so much I would I would I would so much rather deal with the consequences in the future than just not do anything now i’m with you tc is on the Elkrove Kia talk line 9169320 9169091320 tc apparently wants to adjust the the trade I made go ahead TC hey what’s going on hey Kyle Hammer what’s popping what’s happening dude hey look check it out so hey if am I looking at this right do we did we say because I think I was calling up the same thing so did we say Darius Garland Jared Allen for Domas and D Rozan and a couple first round picks Kyle no it was Dom and Devin Carter the Cavs have apron problems so there’s some financial um hurdles you got to kind of avoid so is Devin Carter and Domas with a couple of first three first to be specific um yeah honestly I’m doing that one in a heartbeat i I thought it was D Rozan but you know what Ahem because they would be over apron if we uh if we swung that deal with D Rozan and Dear huh that keep them over to apron yeah they can’t they can’t afford that it would and they’d have to do dollar for dollar the deal could would have to be a net neutral net negative or net neutral for them in order to make a trade y complicated so look what Todd hey hey Hammer that’s a Listen that’s a heck yes y’all know the other word that’s a heck yes to that trade i’m doing that trade today that’s a trade I’m moving do my sophomore for Garland and Allen bro that’s nice that’s a nice move awesome thanks DC there it is i didn’t realize that Cleveland is at 218 million in dedicated salary for next season so this this moves this takes uh this takes $15 million off the cap hit for for the Cavs that’s with 10 players under contract for next season so the whole Tai Jerome like deal where he blew up in the second like that dude like they don’t have the money to bring him back yeah i I do think that like again there are other trades that Cleveland is going to do their best to try to dump Isaac Aoro I would assume um you could probably go g go out and get a couple of other players from them uh that you know again Max Drew is making 15.9 million which is a little high for Max Struce but I still really like him as a player mhm um that’s one of those players where if you were just to call up Cleveland and say “Hey we’ll take Strus off your hands for for nothing or you got to give us a second round pick.” Sure they would they would probably at least have to consider just because of the the financial ramifications yeah of them shaving 16 million bucks off their books uh for the Kevin Herder TPE the trade player exception yeah but like look I I think they’re they’re going to be super aggressive and and if Garland ends up being the player they’ve got to move um I definitely would would go call They should be calling everybody man yeah call 29 teams call 30 teams call yourself see what’s going on all right anyways I made the mistake of opening the chat and it’s still it’s still toe talk oh no it’s fine tom Tom uh Whit did pop into the chat to uh salute yeah an hour and a half late he is it’s fine and he’s doubling down i don’t We We could call him No he’s not He’s not doubling down now he’s saying like “You guys have never heard of the term great toe.” I I’d just say we change his name to toe wit i agree there is toe shout out to Tom who apparently uses great toe instead of big toe like a normal person weirdo all right uh that’s James i’m Kyle joe Brazil is here tom Wit is listening and Bill Simmons I can’t decide if he’s the kind of person that says this stuff because he knows or if he’s saying this stuff because he’s Bill Simmons and he’s a he’s a he’s known for saying stuff right what he said this is according to Clutch Points i wouldn’t be surprised if KD to the Spurs is done already and they just haven’t announced it basically they’ve agreed on specifics just announced it on the week of the draft this goes back to the Giannis thing i think they trade for KD because it just costs less they’ll be able to be real competitive and maybe go a couple of rounds in the playoffs but they’re also going to keep the number two pick and do it that way which is my prediction that sounds like he heard that but was like “Hey you can’t say that you know this.” And so he’s framing it as a I think okay so the NBA you are allowed to make trades right now like there are like because we’ve had trades happen during this time it’s frowned upon because the league wants all the focus to be on the finals yeah right the day the finals ends the next day I’m going to assume that we’re going to start seeing fireworks mhm i think we we’ve had this on the rundown for this is supposed to be everyone is saying this is going to be a wild off the charts yes like it like the the transfers of power in this off season are going to be wild and crazy and everyone is expecting this to be super active now I’ve heard that so many times before and then nothing happens i mean we went through a trade deadline where everyone talked about all of these gigantic deals that were going to happen and then at the end there was like one medium-sized deal right before the deadline and that was it there was no major trades at all and so I I do believe that like Bill Simmons is on to something here like I think that there are a lot of players that will be moving teams this year and I also think that a lot of it will be based off of the idea of Luca Donuch being traded if Luca Donuch can get traded anyone can get traded mhm that’s it like a franchise a 24 25 year old franchise altering player if he can get traded anyone can get traded yes and for all these teams that have been sitting there waiting and waiting and waiting for the last five years hemming and hawing on whether they should trade a Trey Young or whether they should trade a Zion Williamson or they should trade player XYZ like this is a moment where it’s like oh well you’re going to get compared to Luca the Luca trade so don’t worry about it because the Luca trade is always going to be the loser that’s going to be the one everyone says oh that was that Luca trade era where all those weird crazy big trades happen so I do think it’s going to be super active and you know I don’t know if Giannis will get traded or not but I would not be surprised kd like gone uh Embiid could probably be on the block that like there are a lot of guys who could be moved this off season embiid’s sneaky terrible contract he’s an MVP caliber player so he doesn’t get talked about as having a terrible contract that’s a really bad contract simmons did say according to Clutch Points that he didn’t have any inside information i do not believe him no he always knows something he always knows a little something and they like there’s a whole group of them that all of them talk all the time so let’s not act like like the Grant Land people and stuff yeah those people are still all around the league and they all still talk all the time kd to the Spurs would be a nightmare for Sacramento oh because that’s another team that preseason is going to just jump you in the Yep in the hierarchy and you don’t have a lot of room to go backwards in the West no you have no room to go backwards you’re hoping that like five teams above you go backwards and this is another reason why you go try and swing a massive trade where maybe you give up three first round picks yeah and as long as you’re getting younger in those trades okay I’m okay with that yeah man you know getting a 25-year-old Darius Garland 27y old Jared Allen that’s something I would like definitely key in like you can reset your your age arc pretty substantially it’d be kind of wild if Darren Fox was traded for Kevin Durant keep the young guys together keep the number two pick on the Suns i’m not doing that without getting the number two pick although apparently the Spurs are just really good at just swindling teams and Stefon Castle right you you want Stefon Castle in that deal yeah it’s I’m g I’m saying one or the other oh I don’t know if KD has that much value at this point he’s still really really good but I think he’s the kind of player that teams are going to go “Yeah we want him but we’re not gutting our team to get him.” Yeah that’s tough i mean he’s owed $54 million trying to match salary on that is wild that’s Deon Vel vel kellen Johnson uh and Harrison Barnes there you go done extend Dear Fox yeah well that’s going to be the next question what’s his extension look like yeah or you could just do uh you could just do Harrison Barnes and Dear Fox make the trade yeah and some picks and a bunch of picks i kind of like a dear Fox Deon Booker that’d be tough I don’t hate that at all all right we got the handoff coming up one of D’Aura Casey or maybe Jesse i don’t know who’s in today uh you’ll learn when we learn we’ll uh we’ll keep talking Kings i’m going to run our trade idea by them and and see what they say during the handoff james Ham is there i’m Kyle Matson that’s Joe Brazil the voice guy uh is going to tell you this but we’re sponsored by Jify Lube and this is ESPN 1320 Sacramento Sports Leader oh yeah man this is horrible the Suns have an outgoing 2025 both their first and second’s gone their 26 is a pick swap to either Washington Orlando Memphis or Charlotte which are those are like two of the worst teams you’d ever want to pick swap with oh well no because they’re not going to get the pick swap um their 2027 is gone gone to Houston as is their second round pick their 2026 second round pick is gone as well so 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 All of their second round picks are gone there are 25 27 29 and 31 first rounders are all gone god there are 26 28 and 30 first round picks are all pick swaps damn they have nothing that’s wild the Spurs have next year’s Hawks unprotected first is that right oh that’s possible let me look did they not get it this year i thought they had the next two um they do have Atlanta’s first round pick in 27 or 25 and they have a pick swap in 26 so if I’m the Suns I’m getting that and then then they have a 27 Hawks first round pick unprotected they have a 28 uh first round pick from Boston that’s protected i have a 30 first round pick from Dallas or Minnesota whichever is the most valuable of the 2030 and then they have the pick swap from the Kings for 31 which has value you’d hate to see that get traded again yep they didn’t even need to do it which is crazy hi Tom tom we’re just messing with you yeah it’s all jokes but literally we never were making fun of the injury we were just making fun of the use of great toe which is apparently a thing i’ve never seen it i’m sure I’ve seen it i’ve just never clocked it um yeah that’s so crazy never makes sense [Music] how does a rag tag volunteer army in need of a shower and how defeat a global superpower leave the battlefield yeah secure the bagly that’s what we’re talking about yeah now back to The Insiders with James Ham and Kyle Madson brought to you by Jify Lube on ESPN 1320 that guy over there in the Cabo San Lucas hat that’s James i’m Kyle that guy right there in the San Francisco Giants hat winners of five in a row break up the Giants new hat winning streak not a coincidence they did officially trade Lamont Lamont Wade to the Angels chris AOA’s Angels did you The Giants GM and the Angels GM are brothers oh it’s the first time in MLB history there’s been a brother to brother trade that’s facts cool sweet all right i’d be calling about Mike Trout tomorrow like all right now that we’ve gotten this deal done what do you want for that Trout kid how’s it What’s it What’s it going to take to get Trout running around out here in center field at Oracle Park that’s right now that’s something Kenny Kenny wants to log on quickly and talk about that well would you rather talk about a hypothetical thing that we literally just made up just now Mike Trout Giants trade or would you like to talk about the hypothetical thing I made up a little while ago it’s a Darius Garland Jared Allen to the Kings trade we can turn your mic on the choice is yours i did have a bit of a Mike Trout take about a week ago oh I wouldn’t even call it a take me and Jesse just didn’t see how to hide that’s all it was okay what was your Mike Trout take it was Oh okay well then never mind it was It was something around the fact of like his career he’s he’s been Russell more Russell Russbrook than the greatest baseball player we’ve ever seen which isn’t even a knock like I didn’t think that was a knock but yeah he’s he’s uh I am a big Mike Trout stand we’ll get to the Kings trade here in a second i’m a big Mike Trout guy but he has undeniably fallen short of the aspirations set for him 10 years ago yeah and that’s more so what I would say like I said he’s Russell Westbrook russell Westber greatest of the greatest basketball players we got to mute you there’s going to be an echo on the stream that’s fine okay we got it we good yeah we’re good now okay russell Westber one of the greatest basketball players we’ve ever seen like he’s he’s one of them ones but it just like at one point we were saying Mike Trout was the was on track to being the greatest player ever he was and he he just hasn’t got derailed by injury at some point in baseball postseason success matters a little like like a small amount way less than other sports but no it just I love Mike Trout he’s a he’s a certified Hall of Famer uh one of the best players I’ve ever watched with my eyeballs and probably one of the best players ever but there’s no denying that this injury stuff and being on the Angels has just derailed him becoming Mickey Mantel yeah and and and the other thing I remember now that we’re talking you can’t just not make the postseason like damn near ever like what I think he’s got four postseason games i think it’s three didn’t they get swept by the Royals i thought they did too but I thought I was all four but that just that can’t happen i know baseball’s a little different i know it’s a individual sport but it’s just that it’s not even a knock it’s not even a negative i don’t know how we got on this Mike Trout thing uh it’s not even a negative on Mike Trout it’s just it’s it’s not it’s not a demerit it’s not he’s rising oh but the postseason stuff knocks him down there are just certain levels that you get on your resume when you go to the postseason and you win in the postseason that he doesn’t have like it’s just that’s just that’s just kind of it and I mean career-wise if we’re doing that I mean I guess I do kind of it is a little bit of a demare like you can’t just never make the playoffs i know the Angels it’s not on him man it’s not it’s not on him but what is he supposed to do he’s an MVP so look it’s not on him three time MVP that team’s been ass i I it’s not on him but why does every other great player make it like people on the Pirates have made the playoffs that team don’t spin whether it’s Bond’s era or when McCuten was there sure like I’m not I guess I in a round about what in saying it says something about you but you everybody makes the playoffs every great player makes the playoffs you can’t just not make the playoffs the Cubs were god awful for decades and Ryan Samberg and Mark Grace make the playoffs sure sammy Sosa and those guys made the play like that yeah the Angels are bad but you Who’s Mike here’s a Here’s a good one chris Chris Ooa if you’re in the chatty house help us out who’s been Mike Trout’s best teammate if you say Anthony Rendone I’m going to [ __ ] oh yeah show I guess but but by the time Show came around was when Mike Trout started to break down a little bit yeah well Trout has him in and Shi was hurt for a for a period in there too so in 2019 he won the MVP right mhm not only does he have three MVPs but he’s also finished second four times and fourth one other time but since that that 2019 season when he was when he was 27 years old he’s only had he had 499 played appearances and one other season everything else is 362 and lower including you know 126 played appearances last year 146 a couple years ago 241 so six years he basically hasn’t done anything except for the one season in 2023 where he went off for I 2022 where he had 40 jacks and 499 played appearances but outside of that he’s been bad and even the last two years 220 batting average 217 right now it’s just like super disappointing his career arc if you look at the first 10 years of his career where he was just absolutely incredible and and once again hear what I’m saying people because it wasn’t a big deal it was just me and Jesse were just talking about it but I said he’s Russell Westbrook yeah no doubt no doubt i didn’t say he was Nesmith i’m on a separate I I don’t I don’t necessarily even disagree with you i’m just on a separate thing now about how terrible the Angels have been oh yeah mike Trout’s rookie year 89 wins didn’t make the playoffs won 89 games and didn’t make the playoffs next year 78 98 wins the next year they get swept in the ALDS by the Royals then 85 wins 74 80 80 72 26 in and the 60 win season 77 73 73 63 and they’re four games under this year through 64 games that’s just a poorly run organization it is but but once again I’m just not putting that as a knock on my truck is there there so it’s a poorly run organization in my off the top of my head everybody’s made the playoffs in Major League Baseball during his career everybody and there’s poorly run franchises all over the the A’s have made the playoffs while Mike Trout has been in in Major League that’s because the A’s front office is some gangsters that’s Yeah the Angels have not been able to find the right guy to put the right talent around and somebody said Mike Trout is Carmelo yeah maybe come out i I don’t know it’s just a hang up i can’t get over the fact like how can you not make the playoffs because the pitching staff stinks the bullpen stinks the guys they do spend money on anthony Rendone get stinks gets hurt doesn’t play i can say like you see how crazy that sounds though every We There’s bad franchises all over i understand this is this is this is an into the playoffs once yeah but twice to me it’s almost like the Giants never finding a 30 home run guy i mean that’s just crazy that they’ve gone since Bonds without having a guy i mean the A’s could have like four dudes with 30 home runs this year and be horrible and the Giants still will probably not have a 30 home run guy it’s just absolutely crazy so I mean it’s I don’t want to blame Trout for not making plays all but you would assume it looks odd no I’m with you it does it does it does look crazy but like I said that’s an Angels that’s an Angels that’s an Angels thing more than a mic drop thing okay kings trade i am sending to the Kings Darius Garland and Jared Allen okay you’re getting two starters jared Allen made an all-star team yes what two two guys who have been all-stars in the NBA mhm you’re sending out Demon Sabonis you’re sending out Devin Carter and you were sending out your 2027 first i have it top 10 protected okay your 2031 first which the Spurs own the swap rights to mhm and Minnesota’s unprotected 2031 so three first round picks with Domas and Devin Carter for Jared Allen and Darius Garland who just to be very clear had surgery on his toe which could impact his play moving forward and it could mean he’s not ready for the start of this season and we don’t know how he will look post toe surgery that’s a little rich with the picks it’s a little rich with the picks i like it though because you’re getting Jared Allen as well uh Jared Allen I mean on his resume he’s an all-star center if you don’t think he’s a literal all-star center he’s close to it he’s a notch below he’s a double double in a good room production yeah you got you got him i’d like to I’d like to pull back one of those picks especially um with the surgery news Garland i come on man like I don’t know if I’m getting the same Dear Garland that you’re you’re you’re trying to say that is worth three picks but I think get off the fence i think I’d do it if it was big toe surgery and not great toe surgery good question by James would you be It’s a great question by James or a big question by James big toe would be worse huh cuz people don’t be People really struggle with the big toe huh the big toe and the great toe are the same thing that’s what we know bro it’s called I thought it was the the Well I thought it was the one next to the pinky is what you were talking about no the big toe it a great toe is apparently a thing that people call the big toe the press release the press release from the Cavs said is great a great toe injury and now our guy Tom Wit is apparently does something with kinesiology or something in his life i don’t know tom anyways shout out appreciate you listening he has been like “No people call it the great toe all the time.” What are you talking about what people doctors I guess right if you’re in the kinesiology realm then yeah okay maybe but that’s the big toe never heard that the big turn 42 next month i’ve never heard great toe i not once i teased on the internet that we were going to talk about the calves saying great toe instead of big toe for two hours and I got to say we did it boys well done really well done everybody what do you guys got coming up on DLO and Casey uh we talking NBA Finals i’m sure we’ll talk Ala Burden dame Dame Dame was uh not a fan of my my take last night on sports Sunday so we’ll talk about Oh what was I wouldn’t be shocked i’m excited to hear you guys talk about that and of course Tyresese Hallebertton because it wouldn’t be a Pacers playoff game uh without a big discussion about Tyres he played better we wouldn’t talk about him you said it not me for James Ham and for Joe Brazil i am Kyle Madson we’re the insiders back with you tomorrow at 10 a.m sponsored by Jiffy Lube until then drink let’s let it ride one more time hey welcome in here to the Monday June 9th edition of DLO and KC i’m Damian Barling the ultimate needle mover in God bone himself he’s Kenny Careway yes sir acknowledge me and we are live what are you doing with him always i finished Wrestlemania 9 hey not the Wrestlemania just the documentary just the documentary after falling asleep again how’d it end hogan won the title man who knew who knew brother who knew brother might have been more entertaining than the game last night ah that was tough game was tough that was tough it was a game without a story man there wasn’t really much to do with that one is uh We might have learned something though okay i mean like I said on the inside it’s about 93 minutes that the out of 96 where the Thunder have just been that tame well what I said that last night and I was called a hot take artist oh I didn’t tune in to CBS yesterday my fault i didn’t call you a hot take artist i didn’t that’s not what I said i didn’t call you a hot take artist what I said is everybody is so quick to react in a series from game to game when something they predicted goes their way like no one had any hot takes following game one there was no one going the Pacers are going to win this series no one even said the Pacers are going to make this series everyone said well now it’s probably the Thundering five like that was the prevailing thought anthony Slater I thought it was five i’m just going to push it back one and say it’s six it’s like no one learned anything from that because so many people picked Oklahoma City so now that you got the win that you wanted from Oklahoma City it’s like “Oh the series is over oh we told you this is exactly what we talked about.” And all I tried to do was point out this was the same conversation following game two of the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder regardless of how the Nuggets won that game fact is Denver did go up 2-1 in that series everybody thought after oh man Denver got that first one okc blew them out in the second one well it’s over it was fun no they went out there and they fought game three they won another one they they scratched and clawed the best they could the rest of the series but they just didn’t have enough like Denver didn’t have enough didn’t Denver isn’t built the same way the the Indiana Pacers are now you talk about learning something there are things that we learned maybe the things we already knew but the the the differentiator between these is is very clear and it’s Shay we can talk about these benches all we want to like the the Indiana bench is playing terrific but man you don’t have a guy to go get baskets for you and that’s never been Tyrese tyrese will do it in moments in games at times he’s not that type of basketball player he never has been but Sheay very much is sheay is going to get you 30 likely more every single night if you’re a team that needs something to happen offensively Shay’s going to do it for you indiana does not have that and it is killing them right now they’re they’re trying to be this this is weird offense by committee that’s cute it’s very cute in in these moments though against the defense like that it’s not going to work people are are all over Tyrese and that’s fine seakum has has been invisible like that’s tough like that can’t not now you can’t do that and so yeah if if if we learn something I don’t I don’t think we learned anything about the series i’m not I’m not going to do that but there there if you’ve been watching close enough yeah there’s there’s things to learn i just don’t think it’s that yeah i I when you when you talk about the series and the way it’s gone I’m just looking at the at what I think the series have played out and I said last night Indiana winning one of the first two gave themselves an opportunity to win this series gave them a chance me personally I think they have to win the next two games at home to keep that chance alive mhm if they split and they give OKC back the home court advantage mhm anything can happen but I wouldn’t predict the pathway for them to win the NBA finals but you wouldn’t predict them winning now though right you wouldn’t predict them to win now no i I’ve I said okay and see okay see in six when it started and that’s where it’s always even even after game one that that’s kind of where it stayed um but I I just I feel like they’ve gotten their the Pacers got their one in OKC just like Denver got their one in game one and they weren’t able to win another one and if you want to have a chance to win you’ve got to find a way to win these next two games in Indiana i don’t think it’ll be pay uh OKC in five like I don’t see them winning both games in Indiana i think Indiana’s gonna get one at home i think Tyrese is going to play a lot better probably in both the games but certainly in one of them think the same thing for Seakum so I think I think they’ll the Pacers will win if I had to predict I would say they’d win one of those two games i’d be surprised if there’s a numbers game though that comes into play like the idea of OKC losing both in Indiana is it’s tough it’s it’s almost unimaginable like I I don’t remember the number i think it was twice that they lost back-to-back games all year i think it was twice that seems outrageous but I think that’s accurate and so the I of course the idea of them losing four and seven is also outrageous literally didn’t happen one time yeah all year which is why everyone is leaning so tough on Oklahoma City it’s a 68 win basketball team that kind of look like they just put their feet up and just Mike Tyson 1988 everyone all through the you know all through the playoffs yeah they’ve been they’ve been dominant they’ve been absolutely dominant i think that the the pace because OKC this has been talked about a little bit it’s not I’m not the only one that feels this way okc looks a little vulnerable on the road you look at all their road games in the playoffs and they’ve either lost them or they’ve been close wins and that’s what I would kind of hang my hat on if I was a Pacers fan is now we have them in the OKC or excuse me outside of OKC and they might be a little bit of a little bit vulnerable sga he’s done his thing really anywhere you put him put him on on Mars and he’s he’s still getting buckets but the others the Jaylen Williams um Caruso and Hardenstein had some rough games on the road and you think maybe you get him in that finals environment whatever field house whatever it’s being called right now is going to be rocking and maybe you can kind of rattle those guys a little bit and try and get those two games but it’s a it’s a tall task man okay see before we went on our way to News 10 on Thursday I was driving and they were up by 14 and the the Thunder were and I was just thinking like man this was trying to go back in my mental rolodex i was like is this one of the great defenses we’ve ever seen thunder are four and three on the road this postseason biggest win by six points they can be had they came they came against the Grizzlies in the first round yeah they they can be they can be had um but I was like man this is this is one of the the the best defenses I’ve seen in recent memory and then they give up the lead and Hallebert hits the shot then also I wasn’t here on Friday but that’s the story right but then we saw them get back to it in game two i was really anxious to see what we would see from them in game two cuz that was a real dangerous spot for for OKC and they responded like they got back to what you said they got back to it they got back they got back to locking up on the defensive end uh kind of just just manhandling i think you can make the argument though they were their defense was still pretty tough at the end of game one oak uh the Indiana hit a higher degree or a higher degree difficulty of shots um their interior defense is ridiculous like their defense period is ridiculous like part of the reason Seakkum is struggling the way that he is is because of what Oklahoma City is doing you know you know every everyone that that Lou if it wasn’t for Tyrese that Lou Dort block would be played on a loop but the you know the game went a different way so it ch kind But when you go back and you watch those possessions there was a point in the second quarter where Indiana went to the basket like three straight times and it felt like a huge deal that they got points out of it i don’t think that happened in the second half at all and there were no there was no you know rebounding disadvantage there were no like weird stat like there was nothing u that Indiana could flip in the in the stat box that you could go back and look at and go it’s a big reason why it’s a big reason why Indiana got the job done it’s a big reason why this game was close uh OKC eliminated all of that and all of those little things that happened in game one didn’t happen in game number two and they didn’t have a guy to kind of break through and say you know what I’m I they they don’t have that Shay they don’t have that takeover guy and they they’ve got the ability to do that mark Dagno he makes great adjustments he goes with Wiggins out of nowhere that works offensively but I think Wiggins actually did a a great job on the defensive defensive end as well kase Wallace they just throw him in the starting lineup and he’s able to adjust and morph to whatever his opponent has as strengths and yeah they they they look I I maybe I’m late to the party in saying this or whatever because I’ve I’ve kind of looked for for ways where teams can beat them but when they’re clicking the way they are on on the on the defensive end it’s tough man and and and I you’re right they do great they do a wonderful job on on their interior defense but their switchability and what they can do and the amount of defenders they can throw on perimeter players we’ve seen it all series long jamal Murray struggled and uh Anthony Edwards struggled now Tyrese Hallebertton is struggling they just have so many different guys on that perimeter that they can throw at you and so many different looks they can throw at you between hell between Dort and Caruso alone you know your your best rim or player got to deal with those two all night long that’s tough man that’s tough it’s I don’t think OKCM5 i think Indiana wins one of these next two but I think for a real chance they got to win them both well we got a lot to talk about uh with this series for sure can we just acknowledge our brother Cole here for a minute who’s talking a lot about the Thunder today as he should he’s a Thunder fan yeah he has that right i just want to point out though I sat here by myself on Friday not one message from Cole came in jesse was looking Jesse was looking the chat was looking Cole he said he said in the chat that he was at a graduation but I know damn near no one’s ever sat through a whole graduation paying attention that’s tough Cole no one’s ever sat through every name at a graduation and paid attention that’s a tough look Cole you’re a guy you can’t I didn’t even sit through every name of my own graduation yeah I’m I’m the leave early guy i fell asleep i fell asleep during my graduation my college graduation [Laughter] they said Cole was doing his taxes cole was cutting the grass johnny G said “Damn Cole.” Come on Cole we can’t have that we can’t have that in the chat he was at his nephew’s graduation looking at his phone he said All right we’ll come back man we’ll talk more about the Thunder and and man how Alex Caruso might be the greatest defensive player we’ve ever seen we’ll talk about that we’ll talk Kings basketball today here as well and the greatest work in the history of professional wrestling or not what a weekend we’re happy you’re here with us this is DLO and Casey brought to you by Sky River Casino where we will be a week from Friday details coming up on Sacramento Sports Leader ESPN 1320 we got to find Cole like a Pacers fan to fight with too because he’s been like “Oh yeah you guys don’t respect the Thunder.” It’s like “No like we’ve been fine with the Thunder here.” Yeah it’s fine he’s just fine he’s We got to find him a villain neither of these people exist in California i’m sorry i’m sorry and Co’s a Pacer or Thunder fan by way of like Seattle so I don’t even count he’s not even like the real Thunder i guess not even the real Thunder the OKC people so I’d imagine if they went back to the song the song’s not there too go back co lives in South Sacramento no I think he lives in the don’t he maybe i don’t know just not Oklahoma City no I’m saying like if the Sonics came back to being a team like he’d go back to them like he wouldn’t be like a full Thunder team I think or Thunder fan it’s a simple answer went better with my outfit talking about they’re not going against the brain it’d be one thing if the season the series started against the Braves today then I’ll be like “Ah damn.” But Giants swept their asses out of Oracle Park easy work easy work even though they need a walk-off in three one one wins easy work swept their asses right out of the Bay Area yeah put a hat on it’s nothing actually had a good weekend as well red Sox suck but they can always win a series against the Yankees no matter what all right calm down no matter what i took two out of three this week it was nice didn’t your man say he wasn’t playing first base yeah cuz he hits the ball out of the park every time yeah craig Brezlo go to hell it’s like telling Giannis hey we want you to play every position like “No leave Giannis.” Giannis is a little bit tough of a cop but you leave your star players alone that’s the point oh yeah say I’ll be here about 213 man it’s What an embarrassment the magic of Sutter Health Park squeezy they got it shout out to the Rivercats too that stadium’s as bad as everyone’s been saying been playing on a dump for years I guess i heard I heard some stupid stuff over the weekend man jesse you talking about what I’m talking about baseball wise probably shout out to the Rivercats been playing the most dangerous park for however long what since 2000 man come on look how have they survived i’m not trying to disrespect these MLB players you know what I’m saying i’m not cuz we’re not disrespecting they know they know what they need more than I do but all I’m saying is shout out to the Rivercats bro come on every other Triple A team that’s played through that hell I guess come on man did you Are you familiar with this thing was so apparently the twins who played at Sutter Health Park last week uh Carlos Koreah for sure and then I forgot the pitcher was just like yeah the the dirt was just um it just wasn’t safe and the mound was was the worst mound I’ve ever been on and the batter’s box was just was just awful it’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life and I guess somebody got hurt and they’re like I mean he won’t say it because he’s a good guy but I’ll say it it was because of the field that’s what hurt him and Carlos Ko was like I’m not sacrificing what do you say two years off my career for for two bats yeah or a couple of bats all right man i demand that the Rivercats get hazard play hazard pay all right if this is what it is I demand that the Rivercats get hazard pay playing there for 25 years all right man it feels like a conscious effort by everyone involved to have something to say about the Sacramento and and the situation that the A’s are in i’ve had a theory that maybe the players unit has told them like complain enough and maybe we can get you guys out of there it’s where what Okay terrific that’s great what is the plan then and you pile in the back maybe you take them back to Oakland i guess let’s It can’t be like if it’s this bad like I said give the Rivercats hazard pay yeah I was thinking about this anybody and anything can happen so if this happens clip it send it back to me it’s all good anybody that thinks they’re going to complain enough for the A’s to go back to Oakland because I’ve heard about they’ve got a perfectly good MLB stadium right there in Oakland they’ll just go back anybody who believes they’re going back to Oakland is an idiot anybody that believes and I’ve said this before and I don’t know maybe Fischer is is is just not that type of person but if it was me and I was John Fischer and people were telling me to sell all the Bay Area people were telling me you should sell the team sell the team i’ve said this before I’ll say it again i I got news for you i will sell this team to a owner that promises to put it on Pluto before I sell to anybody with a thought of putting that team in the Bay Area never i that team will never ever see the Bay Area if I’m John Fischer never we won’t even We might forfeit the Giants games they’ll never see the Bay Area after all the craziness y’all been talking so the people are like “If he just sells and then Lakeup could buy and he bring No hell no if I’m Fischer there ain’t no way in hell I’m selling to anybody with any thought of saying the word Bay Area so get that out your head it ain’t happening they’re not going to Oakland and I think this is what you were talking about Dame where the hell are they going to go if they leave Sacramento salt Lake City Utah another minor league park well the other like and shout out to the players association because I actually think the Major League Baseball one is a good one but you know the the owners and the commissioner signed off on this like it’s it’s not like F it’s all this talk about Fisher fischer he can’t do it alone he’s being assisted in the process he has a lot of help mhm if Fischer most important help if Fiser wants the team in Sacramento the team is going to be in Sacramento and these guys can [ __ ] and complain all they want to this lowly ass Angels broadcast can talk about a minor league park and the the the the the spring training game feels that it gives that’s cool ho you worry about not being the Angels anymore before you worry about where games are played in Sacramento but it it it it stunned me how many people have had something to say from announcers to media people to and it’s like I think you said this a couple of weeks ago i don’t think you did you did say this a couple of weeks ago y’all could have said something about the Oakland A situation for years and you chose not to y’all a bunch of bandwagon riders that’s all you’re doing because you had the opportunity to stand up and say what Fiser is doing is wrong what they’re doing to the city of Oakland is wrong what they’re doing to fans of the Oakland Athletics is wrong but you [ __ ] just sat there with your mouth shut used to not talk about A’s on your shows cuz they didn’t get no ratings no ratings don’t say Oakland A’s on this show or you’ll be We don’t talk we don’t talk A’s on this show because they don’t do ratings i remember boarding that one but yet they move to Sacramento and everyone has something to say about him again years you’ve known this was going to happen for years you kept quiet about it for years you let Fischer do this to Oakland for years you let him do it to that organization now all of a sudden you have something to say about the safety of players i’m sorry which which is the the ballpark where the the toilets overflow and you you the sewage is messed up that’s that’s that’s old coliseum right did y’all have anything to say about that it’s all It’s funny and it’s cute when the the media scrum is in like this tough shed it’s off what were the conditions before bossome was broadcasting the games y’all didn’t have nothing to say about that god knows what you dummies were eating on a day-to-day basis in the media room cuz them franchises aren’t dumb they know media members will just eat whatever you put in front of them you wonder why that possum wasn’t there anymore it’s in old Tommy the beat writer’s tummy we got it right here it’s not even about Oakland or whatever it’s just now Now y’all care that’s it that’s it when they were when they were slumming in the Oakland Coliseum and I don’t say that as a dis to Oakland but the Coliseum was it’s just not up to par as far as being uh one of the top facilities when they were slumming it there well nobody a matter of fact everybody had jokes about the Coliseum everybody was talking about the Coliseum now you want to go back to that i understand it’s a minor league bpark and that’s fine they’re talking about Sutter Health Park i understand that that’s that’s something they can’t change it is a minor league ballpark i think it’s ridiculous that they don’t have any type of clubhouse situation attached to the dugout i think it’s ridiculous that they make these people walk across left field get them a damn golf cart like what do something different you can’t get around that but this this this whole uh it’s unsafe all of a sudden jesse that’s a great point that you brought up i had even thought about that it it’s so egregious so over the top that maybe this is a bit of a ploy by the players association to force the hand of Major League Baseball and and the owners to to say this cuz Carlos Korea like re like really the dirt is just so unsavory but see that’s the thing that’s the thing you think they’re smart enough to pull this off they’re trying you don’t I mean you don’t think the owners who agreed to this are seeing through this because my feeling is they are my feeling is my feeling is okay now what is that’s what I’d say i’m Rob man friend i’m whoever okay so what what you going to do like you guys are probably right but I think that’s probably players associations probably like this is all this is the best we could do probably at this point that’s fine carlos Kareah had something to say great how many other Major League Baseball players played on that field hundreds at this point let’s Let’s talk i I need everyone to How many Oakland A’s players Sacramento A’s West Sacramento A’s athletics how many of those guys have said it’s not safe we can’t do this how many of them they are there every damn day not one of them all right man like you could do your little game no one no one’s going to fall for this it’s not like the owners are like “Oh God you’re right let’s What do we do oh let’s get back to Oakland you guys are right great.” And they’re not going go back to Oakland where no one’s going to go to your game because the stadium is trash because they still hate the owner they’ll show up on the sell days and that’ll be it that would be the the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in sports if they put that team back in Oakland that would be about as stupid as a move by one of the worst commissioners we’ve ever seen in sports but the owners agreeing to it all this other stuff John Fischer actually doing it it would be dumb and that has once again nothing to do with Oakland it’s about the situation and it’s about the look it’s about the PR of it all i would go to Portland i would go to Salt Lake City i would go to the damn Alamo Dome if you want to play in there there’s no way in hell that team should go back that franchise should go back and play at the Oakium ever ever again that is just that would be Everyone would look ridiculous yes absolutely everyone would look ridiculous they’d all look like they’re getting guarded by Alex Caruso alex Caruso is quietly having one of the best playoff stretches I think a defender has ever had yeah he is he’s He is as advertised and I was He also scored more points than any Indiana Pacer did yesterday well that’s not okay it is not by any stretch of the imagination but it happened that would That is not okay it’s not like he scored 40 yesterday scored the man scored 20 and the Thunder peaked at Tyrese is 17 which was suspect at best yeah it was a little suspect at best did you I I saw uh on the insiders did you see what the the more or less was for Tyrese was it 17 16 oh oh had five going into the fourth got his little got up to 17 and then came out after the got to 17 wow that’s either they knew that’s either great or awful i would think a lot of people had the more maybe yeah they probably thought um he’ll have a stronger offensive game than he did in game that that you know last second heroics really drowned out the fact that he didn’t play particularly great on the offensive end of game one um but yeah I would think a lot of people probably did so good for you i don’t know what I would have done i would have stayed away i love I love Ty but that that Yeah I think that’s ultimately what happened ty Tyrese had a few big games in January and it was like you know I’m out i’m out of the Tyrese uh yeah I’m not going to go less on I’m out of the Tyrese less business like I’m I’m out it’s a little little bit too little bit too unpredictable it’s not as lucrative as it once was it was not it was not a shout out that prize picks balance swelled up during that glorious first two and a half months of the season where that less was hitting very very regularly but Caruso’s been phenomenal uh the Pacers didn’t dominate on the boards like they did in game one and you know what this series I think has done too is it’s raised a lot of questions about like how do you construct your team the Thunder are a very like almost impossible plateau to reach where they’re a uh they’re the number one defense and I think they’re third offensively that’s you’re that is that is a that is a that’s a 68 win basketball team that’s a very very special basketball team um the Pacers though are a little bit more that’s a little bit more rooted in reality where they’re I think uh they’re a top 10 offensive team i think maybe ninth or something like that and they’re a top 15 middle of the pack defensive team and it wasn’t a big change in personnel it wasn’t a big wasn’t the addition of like Alex Caruso Isaiah Hard it wasn’t a you know let’s let’s let’s bring in Drew Holidayidays bring in a lockdown defender it wasn’t that it was probably more Rick Carile than anything else and you talked about this you know a couple weeks ago where it was like you guys do do what you do on the offensive end i’m going to ask you to do a few things differently on the defensive end i don’t think it’ll affect the way we play offense i don’t think it’ll affect the way we run i don’t think it’ll affect our pace but there are things that we have to do to get to the next level that’s a more like if you’re any coach in the league including Doug Christie you’re looking at that like well why can’t we do that i think every team would look at it like well why can’t we do that like the Pacers defense with Rick Carile and that group which we laughed at a year ago they’re right there with like the Knicks with Tom they were with Tom Thibido the Bucks Doc takes pride in in in in the way his teams play defense he builds a coaching staff to make sure his teams play defense a certain way and that to me is more realistic for other teams in the league that’s more realistic for a team like Sacramento but it’s really hard to un it’s it’s it’s really hard to overstate how important Rick Carlile is in all of that rick Carlile was a big reason that the Pacers were able to do that and to just look at the roster and go “Oh well not much changed these guys just put more effort on the defensive end.” Is probably a little shortsighted and I I don’t want to like completely crap on Mike Brown or anything like that but here it comes well somebody may take it as that i’m not trying to say that but man I thought that I thought the Kings were even defensive rating and all this other stuff aside I know you can’t dispute that the numbers are the numbers but I used to say all the time especially during that playoff run defense wasn’t the problem like these guys compete these guys compete on the defensive end they had the stat we’re going the stats where they were like number nine ranked in the fourth quarter during being team one then you get into the playoffs that the the the refs were making it unfair they were letting the Kings play too physical like they were on track for that and I didn’t know and I still don’t know why there was this thought process that you got to you know overhaul some stuff or you revamp the defense or whatever no these guys were competing and what it feels like is Indiana and Rick Carile looked at some of the things maybe they did sometimes last year on the defensive end and said “Nah these guys are competing they’re working they’re trying i can live with that i can work with that.” and they kept it going they essentially kind of ran it back in that aspect and that seems to be kind of the way to do it like if you get it but they were able to do it for a whole season like they didn’t do it for a stretch of basketball like they did it it’s how they played right right it was their biggest improvement i I felt I felt Rick Carlile looked at their ability to compete and these guys the toughness of these guys and was like I’mma lean on that i believe in that i believe that that can be replicated and get to where we’re talking about where it’s this middle of the pack defense and that’s kind of what they are too though right cuz I look at the the the first two games in the game yesterday specifically and OKC if they’re patient they’ll get whatever they want like there Indiana competes and all this other stuff but they just they still don’t have lock down perimeter defense and maybe we’re talking about a championship level at that point but to get to win in the playoffs and get to the playoffs and all this other stuff Indiana has done a a fantastic job or Rick Carl has done a fa fantastic job of just saying “Hey go out there and compete guys go out there and compete on the defensive end i’ll let you rock and do whatever you want on offense if you compete on defense and they’ve bought into that and that was fostered like to your point by Rick Carlo i wonder if there’s ever I mean I’m I’m I mean the the obviously the 2016 Warriors come to mind that was a really good defensive team i just don’t know if they were top three i wonder if there’s ever been a top three offensive team and a top three defensive team that didn’t win the championship it seems outrageous i think so i I I remember cuz I remember one of those years when it was Warriors Cavs i think the Cavs were like 20th in defense and the stat was going around that I think no team had ever won that was lower than eighth or something like that i for forgot exactly what it was but that was like I remember Wes and Winhor talking about like bro this this team I’d be shocked if they won the NBA finals like nobody has won the NBA finals with a defense this low in defensive rating so I I doubted somebody outside the top 10 i think matter of fact I think Houston one of the the back-to-back years might have like 14 well what I mean is OKC is one and three oh I got you has anyone ever been top three in both categories and not one the Celtics were one or were like top three in the year they lost to the Warriors i think they’re pretty high offensively but might might have not been top three i’m trying to check it right now yeah I have no idea how to like in a timely manner look that up like my head wants to tell me the 2016 Warriors but I don’t know i know they were really good defensively i don’t know if they were top three like OKC’s hallmark is the defensive end they have been stellar on that side of the ball uh the entire year i wonder if the Miami Heat the first Heles year might have been they might have been top five i don’t know if they were top three what was that 10-11 or 112 101 they were top three offensive rating let’s see defensively if I can pull it up and it’s a and that’s a even if they are that’s a fluke like usually they were not top top three defensively huh and that was the year they lost to Dallas mhm check that they were Sorry nba stats website sucks it took me back to 2024 they were They were top three and top three yes they lost wow wow another stand on LeBron’s legacy wow i could be on first take man you absolutely could it’s that easy you could You could run Fox with that yeah i’m go produce that show now hell yeah you could do it man we just lost Jesse to We just lost Jesse to Fox Sports just ate up 30 minutes that’s a tough That’s a tough look somewhere Skip Bis’ radar just went off and said “Oh man he’s He’s Jesse’s phone’s going to be ringing any second he’s got LeBron hater alerts on this yeah yeah this is great man cole’s phone works uh 9169091320 Elro Kid talk line what’s up Cole what up Vo what up Casey what up Jess man I was all by myself Friday man not not one call nothing okay okay now check it out i gotta come on here and defend myself let me say first I already said OKC was gonna win at five yeah so we lost that first game okay second I was at my nephew’s graduation in Monteray so I could not call in third I live in Rancho now not in the Thomas anymore okay fourth fourth my barber is from Indiana and he’s a Pacers fan so that’s my nemesis who I go back and forth with side best with me you know what I’m saying but like Jesse said if they bring back the NBA to Seattle I’m going back with Sonics because y’all know GP is my goat so either way I I don’t run when we lose like I already knew we was gonna lose the game so you know get off my head a little bit that’s all shout out Cole shout out you still got to you got to get you got to say something in the chat he pointed out we ain’t doing that he had his nephew’s graduation that’s cool he at Monteray what you can’t send messages from Monteray come on man yeah Co no it’s something like That’s all right even Even something like it’s all right it’s one game like it got to be that it got to be that Cole come on man yeah no flag by the way yeah we was like an hour into the show and I’m just sitting here talking to the air and like “Hey where’s Cole?” Nothing tragic it’s tough it’s tough bad job we’re glad he got a nemesis bad bad job by the NBA too did you see that that ghetto performance that they had bro go take a lap anyone who had any input on that go take a lap for life they did a lot of things wrong yesterday come on this is ridiculous adam Adam Silver is a weird I don’t even know if like this is an Adam Silver thing but the NBA is odd with their presentation and just I don’t know you It’s cool to act like you care about these games too yeah and what I’m referring to is they they got destroyed in game one for not having any NBA finals paraphernalia like on the court and stuff like they used to so they they did the the CGI and they put the little sorry it’s not sorry because I love the trophy but the little sorry uh Larry O’Brien trophy CGIed on the court just look pathetic and ghetto and they got rad over the coals for that and then Midame changed it to the final script which is fine but like you guys are making more money than anybody outside the NFL why not just put the put the logos on the court what are we doing go back to the to the early 90s and right there 17 ft away from the basket just put the finals the NBA finals the 2025 NBA finals what are we doing what are we doing i I don’t know they obviously Twitter’s just very unhappy with the NBA so they took side by side pictures of playin courts yeah yeah come on you do all this for the playin you only play four games in the play playin courts and put them next to finals courts and I never thought of it like that that’s tough that’s ridiculous that is tough i don’t even need the NBA Cup like court just simply put the NBA Finals the 2025 NBA Finals logo right there on each end of the court 17 feet away like we did in the 90s it was beautiful it was great mhm just do that mhm but no we get the the CGI oh my god bro they’re going back co vibes yesterday ptsd i’m going to be honest the CO court looked better the Wait they’re going to start throwing up the virtual fans next the The CO court looked way better for my beloved NBA how embarrassing well how about your beloved Sacramento Kings we just talked about ways to construct a competitive roster a playoff roster in this case a championship roster what’s the best approach for the Sacramento Kings talk about that at a dilo and KC brought to you by Sky River Casino and Sacramento sports leader ESPN 1320 we really lived through the bubble that was crazy wow that was wild mhm hey I’m going to give a quick shout out to uh my people over at DBAT out in El Grove grand opening today batting cages um two things that we’ve been looking for in El Grove for decades now either a basketball facility or batting cages shout out to DBAT shout out to my man Peter shout out to my girl Katie over there they finally brought one to Elgroveve grand opening today i checked the place out yesterday it’s fantastic absolutely fantastic and shout out to my boy Peter maybe one day we’ll tell the story of what happened but I’mma let him do that but shout out DBAT it it it’s it’s going to be fire it’s gonna be fire to have that in El Gro so we have some people over at DBA go check them out man shout out i remember my brothers um we got one of my best my brothers he used to practice while I’m there or whatever i used to go practice with them just to be in there shout out to those of us that had to go take batting practice at Boomers or Funworks or whatever they got out here goodness gracious whatever you guys got in Sacramento i mean they didn’t have they didn’t have batting cages south of Scandia before this this is crazy especially after they got rid of Camelot Park uh what sport i haven’t gone to any baseball ones i I definitely tap in um to some basketball tournaments the thing about these little mini whatever you want to call them amusement park things batting cages sometimes they don’t even work sometimes it’s Randy Johnson throwing at your head it’s the truth you’re just grabbing for the door trying to get out before it hits you again is it there it’s some It’s some highlevel stuff man it’s They got the You know the thing where you’re in the cage and you could virtually hit it in oracle oh yeah they got pitching machines they got They got pitching mounds where you could work on pitching it’s It’s fire it’s fire dl and Casey home run derby this summer we can make it happen we can make it happen want to see me try and hit 100 miles per hour yeah i don’t know i don’t know if I can hit 100 miles per hour speaking of Sky River Casino we’re going to be there one week from this Friday friday night June 20th if you missed us talking about that uh last week you heard that correct friday night June 20th a live show from 7 to 9 DLO and KC uh a night with DO and KC again Friday night June 20th we’re working on uh building the show out uh we’re trying to get some big names out there to come hang out with us the show will not be broadcast it won’t be on the radio it won’t be on YouTube uh we’ll have Lisy out there doing some social media stuff but that’s about it you’re only going to get these stories you’re only going to get to get these guests in person yeah man on June 20th we’re trying to do something special we know how difficult it is uh for some of you to get out here from like 12 to 4 on Thursdays even on Fridays uh but Sky River gave us a Friday night uh and we said “Yo let’s do it.” Uh we got an idea so we think this is going to be a lot of fun on the night with DO and Casey coming up June 20th it’s completely free you do have to be over 21 to get in there it is Sky River Casino uh but that’s coming up one week from this Friday it’s going to be good times man good times at Sky River Casino it’s always a good time out there but that night is is going to be a lot of fun looking forward to it i’m looking forward to being back out there haven’t been there for a little bit i’ll be back out there Friday uh with the wakeup call so chance to hang out hit up the humidor have some food have some drinks yeah man it’s going to be good times for sure man yes indeed um real quick did did you uh did you see our show my show was back did you see Did you see it i didn’t you’re talking about BMF that is your show uh I did not watch no I did have a few free moments i did have a few free moments uh must have been Saturday maybe Friday okay and I the Apple TV app you know popped up and I BMF episode one season and I stared at that thumbnail like you going to do it i was like “All right I’ll do it.” And something right then as if God was intervening interrupted and said “No can’t do it right now.” And never got back to it that show’s ridiculous yes it is that show is absolutely ridiculous and it feels like they’ve leaned into the ridiculousness it’s I’m watching i’m tapped in i want to see how this happens but there was at least three moments in there i was like “Come on.” We’ve hit the point of the story where nothing is real anymore they They’ve outdone themselves whenever you see I I’ll I’ll give it a little time but if you ever tap into it they’ve outdone themselves just in this first episode well we don’t we know as we learned we don’t know etiquette on spoiler alerts here on this show so just a just a heads up um oh man TC got a trade proposal i don’t know who who he stole it from but let’s see what TC got for us here on Elco Kid talk line 91691320 tc what’s happening baby what’s up man what’s up with my two brothers what’s up TC hey so I got two for you right involves TC you don’t you don’t TC you don’t sound right man can you talk into the phone something sounds off hold on you got me better there you go that’s it okay hey listen i got I got two so hey one for Zack Lavine one for Doas give me a minute Jesse zack Lavine going to Cleveland it puts Cleveland under the apron two and a half million but something is better than nothing i got Zack Lavine a 2029 first round pick no protections going to Cleveland Fedarius Garland and Isaac Aoro it works bro okay get gets them under the apron okay what else yeah do check it out it might Hey it might sound crazy but I’m serious let’s go to the Trailblazers send him back you know his dad was a legendary there send him back for Jeremy Grant Chris Murray and their first round pick which is number 11 this draft okay um TC you working I don’t think I like the Domas one uh at all i don’t think I do either one of those trades but I I see him working he’s Well I don’t hate the Cleveland trade i just don’t I don’t know that Cleveland is that desperate it’s I don’t think Cleveland is like Yeah oh god i don’t I don’t I don’t think they’re in that state i think Cleveland has another year aprons or not i I think they’re going to go for this another year if they fall short again you know all bets are off but I’m not of the belief that won 60s something games is not tough for that no don’t do that no I I I Unless you really believe we can’t get it done then that’s a that’s a that’s an that’s an entirely different issue yeah I I I I agree with both of you guys on that respect um I just the Darius Garland news who I I love here in Sacramento if they could trade for him that’d be great do you feel like the price may have gone down on Darius Garland with this toe surgery um and then he mentioned Isaac Aoro and I now I’m okay i don’t think so i I did it i did think that timing was interesting um but I don’t think a toe is uh overly problematic for for anyone of course it’s not my toe so I don’t know but I I don’t think so the first thing I thought though was God it feels like you guys waited a little bit but maybe you were and and it’s not uncommon for a procedure that doesn’t take a long time to to heal from isn’t you know overly invasive it’s not uncommon for players to take the rest and rehab approach hey we’re six weeks removed from the season it’s not getting better or it’s not where I want it to be or it’s not where the doctors want it to be and then you go in and get the procedure with full belief you’ll be more than ready well beyond ready by the time September October gets here right right um so I guess that was a long- winded way of saying no i don’t think it did i love Darius Garland man i think he he’d be a great point guard here in Sacramento um if you could find a way to finagle Cleveland to take Zack Lavine which I’m not sure why they would with Donovan Mitchell there playing playing the two um they do need a small forward but I don’t know if Zack Lavine is in his small forward phase of his career just yet so nah I don’t think they I don’t think they’d mess with that at all and then the Portland one i wouldn’t I see you working TC but get back with Will Z tab been the wheels these articles um I do like Darius Garland though i always have i like Darius Garland a lot where that there seems to be it doesn’t seem to be a apron um question situation scenario it seems to be a uh maybe just time has run its course scenario with Darius Garland and so that I think will be more interesting to follow than Cleveland feeling like they’re desperate to get under Oh yeah under any particular apron i don’t think it’s about getting under a because there was rumors about them moving off of Garland last year and all that stuff before the season even started so it’s just kind of like it didn’t work this year so you’re trying to just kind of retool around Donovan and go for it again i feel Yeah i was trying to think cuz I I agree with you guys about you still running back with that team and see see what you can do mat was throwing out doouse earlier for him yeah he had a he had a trade that I liked i liked it was it was tough it was a it was a little pricey but I liked it um it was Darius Garland Jared Allen and I think three three picks or a pick swap or something like that in there for Mont Sabonis and Devin Carter wait were we sending the picks or was was the C were the Cavs i thought maybe the Cavs sent back one pick or something but I I think for sure it was like two first rounders going to Cleveland um maybe three i wouldn’t hate that three is a little rich for my blood but you’re getting Jared Allen back too so that’s that’s what makes me think like ah okay i love that I love Jared Allen um what is So like as as TC puts together all these trade proposals as Kings Twitter puts together all these trade proposals as Will Z and radio show host around the region put together these trade proposals for whether it’s Damont Sabonis or or uh Demar De Rozan or any other member of the Sacramento Kings we just talked about Indiana Oklahoma City we talked about Oklahoma City being kind of that rare top you know they’re a top defensive team they’re a top offensive team indiana uh top 10 and top 15 respectively in the two categories does any of this does any of what we’re seeing here in in this particularly the NBA finals more so than the NBA playoffs give you a feel as to how the Sacramento Kings should build this direction or or how the Sacramento Kings should build this team out there’s been so much talk from Scott Perry to Doug Christie to everyone associated with the team in any sort of way about improving on defense getting this type of defensive player getting this type of defensive player getting getting this guy who could do this on the defensive end and I I I ask is that how is that the way to go when it comes to constructing this team are we looking for and not specifically but the players the like Alex Caruso is that who you’re looking for are you looking for guys who you feel like have a high defensive basketball IQ talked about Jared Allen jared Allen can be that rim protector that you’ve asked for for so many is that the type of player that we’re looking for like how do we want to construct this team moving forward so the the first thing that I you know I’m looking for if I’m Scott Perry and Doug Fischer doug Fisher wow eric Fischer and Doug Christie on the mind huh man well all right okay like show how did that Wow well I don’t know like I I don’t know who I don’t even know who you were talking about fischer was a coach and his name was Derek goes back to being a Laker your favorite Nah believe it the Christy is you know I’m looking for a point guard and with that point guard I think that’s where I’m looking for the head of the snake so to speak with with with my defense you know I need uh especially if I got Zack Lavine at the two and you know he’s not the strongest defender on the perimeter i want it doesn’t have to be a defenseonly point guard but a guy that can give some resistance much like a Drew Holiday right you would want Drew Holiday to be two or three years younger so that’s kind of the hangup with him but a guy like that that can defend on the perimeter still get a couple buckets knock down a jump shot you know hit the three ball orchestrate be an organizer on the offensive end and I think if you can get that and I guess I guess you’re looking for a power forward a four preferably a stretch four because a lot of people and I’m not sure if I feel the same way but a lot of people want to see Keegan go to the three they say he’s not a four they want him go to the key go to the three so if you’re able to get a point guard and a starting four out of this summer that’s the way I think you should orchestrate it and and I know I didn’t say specifically like a defensive guy or whatever i want competitors that’s that’s the thing i don’t you know it doesn’t have to be like a reputation of just never playing defense like I don’t want to go for that but if a guy like um uh you know what you got with Terence Davis what you got with um Malik Monk in the playoffs he’s I want a little bit more of a defensive guy than that but Malik was competing m Malik was getting after it you know and he wasn’t looked at as a as a defensive stalworth by any mean but competitors and then specifically those two spots I need to fill this off season and that’s the I think that’s the jump start to what you’re trying to do with the Kings who’s scoring on that team though lavine lavine yeah Lavine Keegan i need him to have his 15 to 17 dom is gonna have 19 or so my point guard like I said I can’t have Eric Snow out there yeah know I’m for me I’m But well what do you want from the point guard though do you want LaMelo and Trey or do you want Tyrese uh I mean Tyrese like do you want I mean what what I mean do do you want the what what I mean is do you want the a traditional type point guard or do you want a scoring point guard well and that I think this Go ahead go ahead i think this team really needs buckets like I think like that’s cool you want to build defensive players and all that like this team is going to need scoring like that’s where the league is going that’s where your best year was when you were scoring you made the playoffs and all that you went away from that and it got worse like this team needs scoring darius Garland is a scoring point guard now like more so over being a Chris Paul type point guard he’s a scoring point guard yeah yeah for sure i I mean I agree with you Jesse i understand exactly what you’re saying i look at that means Domas isn’t here right and in those traits that we he’s just not at the forefront though yeah like he’s not Well those traits that we talked about Oh yeah domas is still here so if you’re if you’re ready to make that move then yeah I that’s where I say I need a superstar back i need a big time score guy like LaMelo well wait how is Domas not here well some of the trades that we had talked about is still like the LaMelo oh not no LaMelo’s gone but we talked about Darius Garland and uh and and Jared Allen yeah do that you have to move Domomas in that situation when building this team up i’m from the premise of you’re probably not going to trade Damonte Sabonis regardless of what I suggested last week so you’re not going to be able to af last night as well you’re not going to be able to afford a LaMelo Trey Young like you can’t you can’t get there now I’m looking at more costefficient type point guards that’s that’s where those guys Well you can do it with Zack i don’t think you can move Zack i I don’t I don’t think you can either but when we talked about like the likes of LaMelo and some of those guys you’re not saving money with Zack you actually are do you think Atlanta’s trying to win still right now i don’t know what I haven’t known what Atlanta’s been trying to do for years like I’d love to go up to the team like “Hey here’s three first round picks maybe four if you’re nice or whatever like just give us Trey Young.” Did they just hire a new GM today they they shoveled around their front office today I believe i don’t know what the exact titles were and all that stuff but yeah okay i know Trey Young is not the most popular because he doesn’t play defense and all that but I would love a Trey Young on this team i would too i would too i think So you’re you’re leaning on buckets i want buckets yeah i I want buckets like like not you can’t be a nothing and I think that’s say you can work around a guy like Trey though everyone like I don’t think you need this team full of like defensive stoppers or whatever like you can be the Indiana Pacers where we’re all getting buckets and about 15th on defense or whatever average i’m not defensive like I’m not looking for a Drew Holiday type for this team but here’s here’s the how much I’ll take I’ll take Tre Young in a heartbeat i’ll take Dre Young on this team in a heartbeat send in the trade make it happen here’s the Here’s the issue you’ve got and I think Zach is a little bit better than people give credit for but you’ve got Trey Zack Lavine and Domas in your starting and finishing lineups and then you probably have There’s no way Domas would be here in a deal for that would it you said Trey you said Trey Young yeah that I mean that’s that okay so that was when I was saying like Drew Holidayiday and all this other stuff i’m saying you still have Damonte Sabonis that’s why I didn’t factor in Trey Young if you got Trey Young in here any way you can get him in here uhhuh like if I bring in Trey Young I’m willing to build around him and whatever happens with Domas and other guys happens like I’m building around Trey Young this goes but you can’t like he doesn’t have to be no it doesn’t have to be like This goes back to my original question like how are we building this team out cuz if you have Trey Young on your team you’re kind of like whatever happens on the defensive end happens like you said a second ago correct me like you can’t be or maybe Jesse said you can’t be nothing on the defensive end with all due respect to how talented Trey is nothing on the defensive end I’ll sacrifice that one whereas like like like everyone else can’t be Trey Young trey Young’s getting me 27 and 10 like everyone like someone else has to step up defensively you don’t have those guys though that’s the thing though like if you drew Sabonis and you almost can’t have Sabonis great you need a better defender like if you’re going to have Trey out there you almost can’t have Sabonis out there you can’t have Trey Sabonis and Zachary right yeah like that and and to your point Sabonis is probably involved in that trade and maybe you’re trying to get more of a defensive center i don’t know man i’m just saying stuff but I did but I’m trying to I’m trying to make this team work i I think Kyle Matson drew up a trade would you do Zack Lavine Devin Carter and three first for Trey Young zack Lavine Devin Carter and three first by way of the the trade machine i know you hate that but three firsts we just We just drew that up in the studio right now that’s a lot what’s the rest of I mean I’ll Are you only getting Trey Young back you can’t get nothing back in return like just a random bench guy or something like that yes Kyle Matson GM says we’re only getting Trey Young back trey man Trey Young with a player option next year so what you’re looking at in that situation so I need I one I need asurances he’s back that’s that’s first he’s got a player option for 48.9 next year i’m not trading three first round picks unless I get the Seakkum head nod that no I’m I’m I’m here i’m Sacramento the more Sacramento than Kenny what that’s what he tell you uh no there I don’t think there’s anybody more Sacramento than All right let’s just just let’s just make that okay show damn that ain’t got nothing to do with that was Carmelo knicks fan that was Carmelo all right my bad um that’s first thing by the way that’s I need that back three first round picks i need I need the I need the Yeah I need the assurance i need the assurance i need the I need Yeah and you said Pascal not only is he picking up that option but if you if you want to we’ll sign the extension well that’s what I mean yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah cuz that’s Yeah that’s what I meant i didn’t mean the option i meant the extension that’s three years or that’s that’s three first round pegs i need you for at least you know three to four years um Yeah so now you’re looking at Trey keon probably starts at the two keegan goes to the three still got to get a power forward and and Tomomas is your your five i feel like you guys are answering my question without actually answering it we’re we’re going offense yeah i mean I would that and and Doug can beg like “Hey if y’all could just do something on the defensive end we’d be in good shape.” Well a roundabout way I guess to answer your question like yeah that’s how I build it out i’m not going for and I’m not saying you’re asking this i’m not going for the the 92 Knicks like hell no i know that’s Doug Gri Scott no I want guys then this is where I talk about that will compete they may not be known as defensive players but I want them if I’m asking them to do X Y and Z they will try their damnness to get it done on the defensive end but they are probably primarily looked at as offensive players in their career yeah I’m out on the Drew Holiday Lavine Keegan four and Son lineup i just don’t think you’re getting much scoring there at all i don’t think that’s a recipe for success in the league right now all right let’s see what Stanley talking about i don’t think it’s going to be any of this we haven’t heard from Trey Young that’s his guy oh that is that’s the guy yeah me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me and Stanley see eye to eye right there stanley what do you what do you think about all this lord have mercy something must have happened and hit somebody over the head that light went off but it’s better late than never uh I’ve been telling you guys for years get Trey Young here do what you got to do i’ve told you that this is a younger version of Steph Curry i’ve told you for years to get Trey Young you have and now the light has come on it’s on well I don’t think we never didn’t want Trey Young well I tried to tell you that this is what this team needed and I’m glad to hear you didn’t say we didn’t need him you just didn’t say you just didn’t endorse him huh but now you’re doing it you You finally got around to the way I was thinking Stanley i’m I’m glad we finally came stanley we uh we love you brother it was great to hear Stanley i’m I’m I’m sorry it took so long stanley was right that was five i’m sorry it took so long to come around on That was the least contentious call we’ve ever had with Stanley it’s Well my boy we’re on Stanley’s side with this one yeah we’re all We’re all together we’re all United i think that might be the only time that’ll happen uh yeah we’ll wait for football season too he likes he likes Barry Barry Bonds so you know we talk about Barry Bonds we’ll be linked up on that trey is the kind of first generation Steph Curry player though like to to his point you know I don’t know if he’s a younger version of Steph but he he certainly is I think inarguably the first Steph generation player who came into the league and was shoot you know winning the Oklahoma was shooting threes from you know all over the court like we like we saw Steph do so often [Music] um I don’t know there’s a new you know group in charge in in in Atlanta it’ll be interesting to see how they approach this off season um what the market looks like for Trey again 45.9 this year essentially $46 million um and a $49 million player option the year to follow i’d take I would take Trey Young here in a heartbeat and if it was you could be correct me if I’m wrong with that player option you could be in if I want out get me out to uh territory right if you’re Trey and you we we’ve talked about Atlanta’s desire for Trey Young we could be at the point where if Trey Young doesn’t want to be in Atlanta anymore he has to start pressing those buttons to get where he wants to go to be able to sign an extension wherever that is yeah i always I think about it though and I just don’t know why Trey would want to leave Atlanta if they’re willing to pay him well I one I think that’s a question i think the if is legit if they’re willing to pay him because you’re going nowhere that team’s going nowhere i would I would try to build around Trey Young you have tried unless you’re trust unless you’re trusting this new front office you have tried repeatedly have they have they not they had really done nothing they just kind of give him the team that he has they haven’t tried true didn’t they go get De Jonte Murray they did they’ve tried to go They’ve I’m not saying they were good at it i just don’t I don’t know i just feel like you got Okangu who’s their centerella it feels like they could have split those two up at some point and got him something else um you got Jaylen Johnson you were able to draft him he got hurt so who knows what happens there i I just don’t I don’t feel like they’ve the Jonte Murray was a good call they got him but I don’t feel like they’ve been aggressive enough to try and pair him with with other top flight p players and just kind of they certainly haven’t and draft these players and just say “Hey Trey just kind of play with these guys.” All right uh we’ll come back we’ll continue to talk Kings basketball we’ll continue to talk uh NBA rumors out there and was it a work or was it a shoot stilo and Casey my mind’s made up on this brought to you by Scott mine too espn 1320 do the Chargers have enough at wide receiver how good can the Steelers be with Aaron Rodgers bro shout out for the update red Sox called the top prospect in baseball we’re back let’s go oh I’m glad we manipulated his service time but sure he’s he’s writing baseball’s so stupid in some of the ways they try to work stuff now a lot of the ways they try to work yeah you’re right it’s a lot of the ways it’s such a completely different game now so it seems like it’s kind of heading that way but like I don’t know like I’m still out like it’s not interesting me really like I didn’t even watch Money in the Bank i didn’t either i heard the match was I was telling Casey I heard the match was really good the Money in the Bank match that Seth won it was really good i might go back and watch that i like I like Money in the Bank i like the the actual match i’ll check in on like Jacob Fatu clips like on Twitter and stuff i saw what he did feel like if I was more into it like the Seth stuff would be cool but yeah they’re the Cena stuff really killed it I think for me i think they’re giving I think they’re giving I think Seth might have another run that’s what it seems like that’s what it seems it absolutely feels like ground yep i’m assuming you put the belt on Naomi and then do Jade versus her eventually that makes sense that’s still a running feud I think yeah they they still cooking maybe Jade will be ready by then who is she the Bruno Cabaloko or whatever the two years away from being two years away who play what player was that that is a tough comp pier tap back in soon we’ll definitely talk about this on the 13th round just 213 pier just an abomination i saw Goldberg was talking the other day said “Yeah my shoulder can’t even move it this way leg don’t even work.” Blah blah blah i can’t do this just stay home pal we were talking about it during the commercial break over on the YouTube channel Twitch Twitter the whole deal mhm money in the Bank was this past weekend big what should have been a big WWE pay-per-view i didn’t even know was at the Intuit i think Jason Jones was there if I was saw the IG stories right or IG post right we’ll talk to Jason Jones tomorrow as we normally do but should be one of the tent pole pay-per-views for the WWE um obviously we’ve expressed our lack of interest uh in recent months uh but the big story was our truth ron Killings returned to the company after like a week away i guess we’re all a bunch of big dummies well Triple H knows what’s going on triple H said “Did you enjoy the show it’s all part of the show.” didn’t explicitly say it was a work but certainly implied that it was part of the show it has been made clear by pretty much everyone involved and around that the truth firing was not a work he was fired and WWE reacted to the reaction of R Truth’s firing now since uh our truth came back cuz not tapped in wasn’t watching Leezy sent me a a post on Instagram i was like whoa okay that’s cool and so immediately I thought oh this was a work but where is this going so I started to read about what happened for the first time and read how bad what transpired was m apparently Truth was fired by or or told that that his contract wouldn’t be renewed I guess by like a lower level talent relations person meaning it wasn’t by Hunter and it wasn’t by Nick Khan and our Truth for the most part has been with the company for the last 25 years and while he’s not necessarily main eventing Wrestlemania as has been made clear for the last two weeks He’s one of the most beloved individuals the company has so he was really put off by that so when the we want truth chance started WWE immediately reached out to him and he just ignored them shout out to John Cena who probably had his best moment as a heel when the crowd was chanting “We want truth we want truth.” And Cena picked up the microphone and said “You can’t handle the truth.” and went on to cut like this true it was it was brilliant i was like “All right John.” Like “That’s good work right there.” Um finally it was Nick Khan who reached out and was able to get through to our truth i guess it was on Thursday and they put together a deal that was I from what I think Meltzer wrote or maybe it was Fightful it was kind of a a compromise deal where Truth asked for something the WWE asked for something and they kind of met in the middle and he showed up on Saturday night and cost uh I I guess the match was Cena and Logan mhm cena and Logan verse Cody and Cody and Jay okay all right uh so Truth gets in there gets the big pop and now there’s Ron Killings shirts out there which is our Truth’s real name and allegedly one of the things that he asked for like he’s 50some years old despite the fact he looks exactly exactly like he did when he was 25 uh he’s 52 i’m sure his body feels different he did say “I’d like to do something a little more serious before I retired.” And so that’s why we may be seeing the name Ron Killings a little bit more than we saw our Truth i don’t really know what to think about this other than I think it appears the WWE handled themselves really really poorly but I guess in the same breath I’ll give them credit for recognizing they did something that was really unpopular and attempted to correct it and you know Ron Killings was willing to to go along with it and and came back to a what was a pretty dope moment yeah it all it all worked out um he’s still with the company they were able to bring him back in a way that one of the shocking moments of the year so far seeing Ro at least for me like maybe you know people that were tapped in and No I don’t think anyone saw I don’t think anyone knew that was a thing okay yeah I was I don’t think anyone knew to see that so that was pretty dope that was really cool um but the reason why I don’t believe Hunter is some of the things that I’ve heard about how it went down and and other people’s reaction to how it went down and then I’m sure you saw the post from from Chris Christopher Killings i did just simply uh WWE’se’s post about Triple H sitting there laughing talking about oh you know it was all work and all this other stuff and Christopher just says stop the cap yeah to be fair I don’t think that’s what he said i don’t think Hunter said it’s it he implied it was a strong implanation that it was part of the uh show and yeah Christopher was like enough to the point where it was like stop stop the Yeah yeah yeah getting real tired of Dwayne and Triple H telling us to sit back and let it all play out cuz like you know what bro like I’d be happy kind of ass lately i’d be happy to sit back and let it play out if it was good well that’s the thing it’s been it’s been horrible all year like you want like act like oh yeah like Triple H no doubt like knows how to book the stuff better than everyone but it’s like you don’t got to act like you’re smarter than everyone as well like you guys messed up here what was the last thing Dwayne did that didn’t suck janji wrestling wise how many years ago was Backlash 2001 what was that goldberg what was that match i think that was the one where he had Triple H and he um hit the rock bottom on Triple H and Shane McMahon on the announce table oh that’s right wow that’s not the answer but that’s a good pull man that’s my favorite one I think man that’s that’s that went over my head yeah um I don’t know lately it’s been pretty bad it hasn’t been good yeah cody stuff was cool and then it just kind of soured it got all bad nothing paid off yeah no there was no payoff to any backstage joint with Cody Mama Rose yeah yeah but the problem is there’s no end to that story it’s like you you it’s like you you told a a story about this mob boss in New Jersey the Sopranos and then just after he kills his cousin the show just ends what is the conclusion of all of this the Rock keeps writing stories that don’t have conclusions it’s No it’s bad it’s bad right now and they they almost had a catastrophe with the our truth thing they were able to rectify it recover from it cool for them but I feel like our truth stuff just tells you where they’re at too it It does feel like of all of the people like I get like one I I don’t I’ll never understand why companies like WWE oh we’ve got to trim the budget like to No you don’t you’re puking money but like WWE come on yeah like like if like I but but I get it you’re running a business the last person I would think you know what he doesn’t need to be anymore is our truth like if for no other reason than like look at social media like he does videos with like everybody because he is naturally funny he’s hilarious he he he pokes fun at himself he’ll poke fun at everybody else like he’s the the funniest moments of the last 10 years probably involved you could have just cut Rey Mysterio if you wanted to trim some money man you still can cut Ray Mysterio that was for you man but yeah I I don’t I don’t know you could have just move i’m not going to do that i’m not going to do that no do it well Finn what why are we over here in the rocking the story man what well cuz it’s not it’s not true it was just a just trying to get a cheap pop or reaction you say you could have cut KO who needs Dude rehab his neck who needs the middle of the pay-per-view all the time put anybody there wow casey said “Hey he’s in the hospital get him out not on our payroll get him out.” Is he in the hospital no he’s out he He had surgery i’m about to say yeah he had a neck situation but didn’t he mess up Cody’s neck almost i don’t think so yeah i mean what was that the ladder or was that him who got his neck messed up i don’t remember kyle was doing that stuff where he was dropping people on their neck yeah that match was pretty violent but I don’t think he hurt anybody kenny it’s not a shoe kenny fell for a work yeah well shocker kenny just walks up to KO sitting on his couch hey we don’t need you anymore pal done ko’s fine he could stay around somebody needs to be there one and a half hours into the show price says that Ray’s injured right now too that’s different oh that’s fine yeah Ray rey Mysterio’s been on my TV for 30 years just Hey how old is Ray 100 i’ll look it up right now you guys want to take a guess i’m going 50 plus i mean Dominic is in the company for God’s sake 53 i’m No I’m going 50 i don’t know i’m I’ll just go 50 50 final answers he’s He’s 50 years old wow turns 51 in December that feels pretty young still yeah i would guess it is a little deeper started wrestling when he was 12 or something like the Hardies and they start when they were like 16 or something like that and they didn’t know so okay is he can still go just to be clear he can still go is this Ray’s fault like we get on Ray but is it his fault or should somebody throw the towel in the match for him damn it if those kids stop buying those masks like what it is what’s the purpose of Rey Mysterio anymore he sells merch oh well no for WWE I don’t think there is a purpose but Ray he just let a game he probably sells merch a lot i’m sure if Ray Mysterio was still selling merch and you haven’t found someone else to be able to sell merch like Rey Mysterio that’s your fault see but masks are always cool like no one else has a mask that’s always going to sell didn’t the new guy have a mask oh Penta yeah I think they’re selling his too all right like Ray’s got different ones ray Ray is the Shout out Sar that didn’t work mask seller I guess so I guess so wrestlemania 42 was officially moved to Las Vegas also so wonder why they did that first time since Wrestlemania 4 and five which were well Trump Plaza in Atlantic City do we think this is going to be going to be a per permanent thing no I don’t I don’t think so i think WrestleMania is too valuable to too many other cities but from what I understand and I don’t know if this is true or not but I did read an article how Vegas is struggling a little bit and WrestleMania was massive for them so they asked if WWE would be willing to bring it back hold off on I think it was New Orleans one more year and or I don’t know if it’s one more year but hold off on New Orleans get back help kind of jumpst start so to speak Las Vegas which I didn’t know i had no idea new Orleans is Las Vegas i had no Las Vegas i had no idea las Vegas is struggling vegas still went on that John Fischer payment that’s why he told us he was going to give us the money you know what’s so funny about that there’s not even a sign that says future home of the A’s there’s not even a sign it’s literally just word of mouth the A’s are going to Vegas it’s word of mouth there’s nothing there vegas and we drove past it nothing there vegas in a tough spot man it’s too expensive in Vegas like it’s too expensive to get there to stay there to enjoy Vegas the way you want to it’s it’s too expensive i can understand it was not cheap yeah it was not cheap i can And that’s their that’s their main theme i think we were on the flight back like I don’t think we’re going to do that again that was fun we’ll go back i just don’t think we’ll do that again oh speaking of Vegas in the Wrestlemania 9 Doc did you see this was uh I guess some people would think it’s cool i guess it’s whatever it don’t really bother me or it doesn’t really have no effect on me cuz I couldn’t tell the guy out of a lineup but did you know Tony Khan was there or Nick Khan who’s the guy that’s there now the the WWE guy tony oh Nick yeah it’s Nick yeah Tony is the AEW he was an usher at Caesar’s Palace and they found him on the broadcast that was pretty cool that happens a lot i must have missed that part it was towards the end that’s why I say I don’t know if you got it okay but yeah he was a a Caesar’s Palace Palace Usher in the makeshift arena interesting they found him they found a clip of him walking past the camera do we believe these WWE stories oh so and so was in the crowd they just so happen can they can always find them like oh Bailey was watching i don’t know what you do with this bailey well I’m just saying like there’s there’s multiple stories for like wrestlers I guess i guess people can sit wherever they sit but it’s just they always got video for these stories do do they So they they found Bailey they got Bailey i think they’ve got they’ve got like I can’t name off the top of my head but there’s they got Mick Foley it’s not only two stories yeah it’s like Yeah edge at Wrestlemania 6 i’m not so sure that that’s Mick Foley that’s just some 10-year-old from the 80s like how am I going to fact check that well in fairness Mick Foley was like 18 in that video well I’m just saying like that’s my thing it’s like Edge is the one though you could have gotten any little white kid with a mullet and said that’s Edge it’s just kind of like the 93,000 things like you told me wasn’t but like you keep telling me this see I’m not I’m not I’m familiar with Mick i’m not familiar with Bailey and Edge no if you look up if you look up Edge Wrestlemania 6 there’s like they found him in the crowd and it’s like “Oh there he is it’s Edge.” Jeremiah says “Well yeah most wrestlers were fans first.” That’s not the issue it’s just every story that pops up there’s always video for it no matter what better than Big oh no come on come on pull it up what’ I say turn the Turn the Turn the Can you turn the video around if I could if I could get a a big I’m trying to trying to see if I could blow it up a little bit here well that’s I don’t know that I don’t know it just doesn’t feel right but what yep come on B give me a break bro that’s your boy Cope right there that’s Steve from Johnson Middle School that’s your boy Cope right there hold on hold on man that’s funny that Yeah you can’t all right man i’m on to something i’m telling you cope there’s cope right there there’s There’s some Canadian kid like that’s me i don’t know why they keep calling him cope or Ed that’s me yeah now that one’s wild that one is wild how they just they just found Edge the Mick Foley one looks like Mick Foley just without a beard shout out Nick Khan i Nick Khan i Shout out Nick Khan nick Khan was Cara’s first major agent yeah mhm i I I always get first of all I always get him and Tony confused tony runs a Yeah when they talk about wrestling and he’s at the Jacksonville Jaguars draft didn’t he didn’t he do front and center yeah i respect that though yep so uh but yeah Nick if Nick walked in here as as major of a player he is I wouldn’t know Nick you’d have to tell me “Oh that’s Nick Khan.” Oh I think I’d know Nick if he walked in here i know Tony i would know Tony i’d know Tony Cut if he was i know Shad too yeah I know Shad too yep yep neither one of them should be at the Jaguars track but fine they got it right this time though they’re both there did you see that uh this is really random did you see either one of you see the the catchion oh my god wait what travis Travis Hunter had a nasty pick at OTA it’s one of those practice clips but Travis Hunter the Jags might be twirly the Jags might be box office this year because of Travis like you might have I’m watching I’m watching Travis Hunter at least game one I’ll be I’ll have them on the iPad at least yeah they’re gonna have to get like they’re gonna have to maintain a certain record but first four weeks of the season because I saw a clip was like oh yeah practice um he’s he’s lining up against Brian Thomas Jr one play and the next he’s on side on offense i re I’m really interested to see what he ends up being in the in the NFL he’s like the football version of LaMelo and Zion not like a like just who they are but just the hype since high school like I’ve known about Travis Hunter since he was in high school facts yeah that was a play right there that was nasty that was a play right there i think for sure for sure worst case scenario he is a pro bowl allpro caliber corner I think I don’t hate that he’s like I said like since high school he’s been like the one and he’s been the like he won the Heisman a pro bowl allpro floor is incredibly high yeah I think that’s incredibly high like a allp pro says you’re the best at your maybe I thought you said pro bowl I think you’ll be all I think you’d be an allp pro player though I think he’d be all pro corner I I I’m not I’m not um uh Lewis Rick in this situation but just watching him since high school in college all this other stuff the way he plays corner looks it looks special alfonso Fald says Jack’s coming to SF September 28th i have to pull up i don’t think I don’t think I don’t think it’s going to rain either it’s not going to rain one of the greatest calls of all time by the way it’s going to be too damn hot it might be i’ve never seen someone predict not even a weatherman predict the weather a month and a half two months out man it was a every year it’s arguably your finest moment i think that might be the game and it got us out what would have which would have would have been the worst trip to Santa Cl that would have been awful awful we would have done it for our girl but that would have been awful i think uh that might be that might be the game me and Sha Grove go to we gonna try to go to at least one game every year that might be it travis Hunter and which one did you go to last year again the Cardinals game the hottest day on record in Santa Clara and the Niners blow a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter cardinals are one of the most relevant teams in sports if not the most you said irrelevant irrelevant nobody’s ever checked in on the Cardinals yeah that’s true you’re about right you’re about right i don’t know Cardinals fans well there’s one out there you know Cardinals fan isn’t that one of Ramsay’s seven favorite teams that’s a shoot isn’t it or no up katrina is is Isn’t the man’s Isn’t it Falcons yeah because when he went to school fell in love with Arizona the Arizona Cardinals you’re right that’s a good call by you it’s a good call all right daniel says the Wizards are up there it’s a good call too they feel largely irrelevant in DC too that’s why you ignore the Jordan era so were you there when Bill was there and John Wall and Bradley Bill were there because it looked like it was popping yeah no it was fine i would don’t know i wouldn’t say I would say I don’t know if I’d say it was popping yeah definitely wasn’t Capitals looked like it was popping yeah it was fine yeah yeah you were there wall and Bill yeah Wall and Bill were there aren uh Gilbert wasn’t wall and Bill were there um Yeah no I’m I It was fine yeah it was cool it’s a It’s a It’s very business-like arena too there’s no like um like vibe to it i mean of course you’re you’re you’re downtown right like you’re in the district there’s a lot around you outside there’s no uh you know uh area it’s it’s the arena like it’s on the street like you just you go to the arena passed it one time yeah and um once you get in it sometime like there are certain points depending on where you enter it feels like an office not like a dental office i was just about to say not like a dental office no like your accountant is there like Drew like like Drew Down Associates is on the second floor and you got to go take him your receipts or whatever your quickening you know sheet and you know Drew is going to do your taxes real quick and then you’re going to go watch the Wizards play that’s That’s what the arena looks like i feel like it’s a it’s it’s a it’s a bit dated it that’s exactly what I heard one of the homies shout out to my man Bo he went to a Wizards game and he said it felt like Arco Arena just like the the era of arena like that okay yeah not the actual feel of it oh I’m in a 90s arena right now yeah yeah yeah yeah that that’s that’s the perfect way of describing it it’s a ‘9s arena uh what is it capital One yeah I was about to say shout out to the MCI Center i think that’s how MCI first started uh Verizon i think that’s what it was when we were there the Verizon Center yeah capital One now um how about your Giants game back from the Dodgers brooms on them boys got the brooms on them boys over the weekend shout out to the Atlanta Braves for coming through and making sure the Giants got right back into the thick of things and ain’t no West big ups now I get for those that new to are new to the show why it’s funny that you’re laughing at the Braves getting swat visually I get why people would be confused it’s because for those that cannot see my partner he is wearing a Atlanta Braves hat yeah yeah I am and went with the outfit today no now remember Kenny wears baseball hats for fashion not for support uh but I do get how some people in the chat can often be confused about why you’re laughing about the Braves getting swept by the Giants and how the Giants are your boys but you are wearing a Braves hat true true i understand it i get it i get it in fact you were so happy with the Braves this weekend you decided to wear their hat i just want to thank them i just want to thank the Braves thank you thank you for doing what you do giants handling the business they’ve won five in a row and they had a little es and flows because it was looking remember the first two Padres’s games i said “Yo it’s looking a little dangerous right now.” He said they saved their season in the third one yeah well my man Elio Ramos got that big two uh run double in the seventh inning it’s looking a little dangerous they responded back by winning five straight games sweeping the Atlanta Braves one game back of the Dodgers like you mentioned and baseball’s popping this week nl West specifically is popping but baseball is popping dodgers Padres’s start a three-game series tonight the Giants start a three-game set with the Rockies tomorrow giants Dodgers face each other for the first time this year this weekend in LA mhm giants could be going into that series in first place tied for first place it’s going to be you know however the games play out cuz if the Padres’s sweep the Dodgers then the Giants will be behind the Padres’s for first place you know what I mean so there’s that but what’s popping this week the the the Dodgers and Padres’s they play each other seven times in the next 11 days i think that is I think that’s the I don’t want to say the premier rivalry in baseball right now but it’s definitely top three they they it it goes down when they play each other so you got those games and sandwiched in between there for the Dodgers is that three game set with the do with the Giants so NL West is going to take shape in the next two weeks or so going into July I guess why are the Padres’s and Dodgers in this position the the the Giants it felt like Oh we might not have time for all this the Giants feels like it’s been a lot of it was like kind of a a big like up like oh okay and then it settled and then it kind of flowed after that like ah man go back to that Padre series you said that third game Hillio Ramos got that double like okay that’s that might have saved the season they went on to win a couple of games after that obviously they’ve won five in a row but the Giants Giants had 27 losses the Padres’s had 27 losses is the Giants at 28 is this just the es and flows all over the division is this the competitiveness of the division you know the Diamondbacks aren’t terrible they’re not above 500 anymore they’re not terrible tommy Jiren surgery that’s that’s all bad but no I think it’s I think this is the best division in baseball in LS and the Giants I didn’t expect them to be on par with the Padres’s or the Dodgers i thought those were that’s the class of the NLS but they played at a high level they’ve showed some resiliency throughout the season that has them in that conversation and I think those three teams combined I think that’s this is the best division in baseball the AL Central is really good too but I think this is the best division in baseball there was a point where three of these teams I think they had three of the four best records that’s not the case anymore no um they’ve kind of settled in and maybe it is and the and the Dodgers have also kind of probably played below what people think they might be playing 12 games over 500 right now isn’t awful by no means but the way people talk about the Dodgers and Otani and the pitching that they got and they got Blake Snail and all this other stuff you would think they’d be at 20 games over 500 well like Trey Young once famously said the regular season’s boring well yeah be boring this weekend when the Giants beat your ass how about that that’s what’s going to happen this weekend giants going down to Chavez Ravine and backhanding the hell out of the Los Angeles Dodgers says Stone Cold Kenny Carowway bump it or dump it on on the way we’ll have some fun plus some more uh NBA rumors victor Wmanata got got a haircut and everybody freaked out we’ll explain why stilo and Casey brought to you by Sky River Casino and Sacramento Sports Leader ESPN 1320 i bet that’s a that’s a that’s a crazy little uh I bet that’s a crazy little experience i haven’t gone but seems like a little it gets test code [Music] yeah man sack stay handling business this weekend shout out Coach Marian moves making moves shout out Grand High a lot of these guys staying home man norm it’s probably the top five never change i would think it’s You’re looking at Oracle i think that’s number one i could be biased oracle Petco looks fantastic i’ve driven I’ve walked around Petco i’ve never been there for a game pnc Park is looks beautiful and then you got the OGs i still think Camden Yards looks really really cool was watching Paul Skillers the other day dude’s legit oh he’s the truth like he he pitches like a video game he he is it’s almost unhitable the way he pitches he’s he has every spot he is the absolute truth phillies lost five in a row and they play the Cubs that’s the other big series going on phillies Cubs this uh this week phillies as well also complained about the facilities at Sutter Health Park it’s been every team all right guys it’s fine that’s fine look I always say they can’t get around uh it’s a matterly part all I just wanted is some hazard pay for the River Cats that’s it that’s all right there’s some other NBA rumors out there we’re going to have some fun with bumper to dump it here a little bit shout out to Coco G by the way too hey big ups man french Open victory wow that was really cool to see second major I think for Coco that was really cool very young career i would have watched that um that that match i didn’t know when it was on it was on pretty early out here on Saturday morning I think it was uh but I you know the finals of these these tournaments these tennis tournaments semi-finals finals usually have me locked in but I was happy to see her win that when I saw the announcement um because I’m not saying she’s looked at as like the the next GOAT so to speak like I don’t think people say she’s going to be better than Serena but for the last three four years she’s been looked at as Oh she’s next one of the ones yeah and for her to cash in on one of the majors and the French Open it’s dope to see i want to see what she can do this year you know I think Australians already happened but can she get Wimbledon can she get the US Open you’re one of the two so big ups to Coco Golf indeed uh indeed uh there’s some rumors out there uh some more NBA rumors that we haven’t touched on not ones that we’re creating ourselves here as it pertains to Sacramento but ones that are just out there uh in the universe as the NBA season the NBA off season is getting officially really really close uh to kicking off one involves a player who we talked about a lot already Darius Garland i misread something earlier i didn’t realize Darius was missing the start of the season m I thought Darius’s return was significantly quicker than it was or than it is which it makes me question the advice of rest and rehab after the season i understand surgery should be an absolute last resort but if you’ve been dealing with something for as long as he’s been dealing with that toe problem it’s probably in your best interest to just go get it fixed now you’ve put yourself in a situation where at least as it appears he’s probably not going to start the season uh which is not something I understood when I originally read uh the report on Darius Garland so um I still don’t think it it uh stains his value taints his value but that’s tough sometimes that stuff is also used to send a message not saying Darius is doing that at all the old Shaq yeah yeah this is This is This is Shaq but not quite as extreme as Shaq um but it’s like yeah no I’m going to see if I can you know let it rest and get it better oh it’s not okay oh I can’t start the season i just got Hey make I just want to get better guys just want to get my toe better now there’s a little conspiracy theory involved in that but it’s kind of a game i would hope not for for Darius Garland because you know you you you got to your team’s trying to win a championship here you know they’re they’re serious contenders for winning a championship and you want to get with those guys as much as you can as early as you can during that season to see if you can complete your goal I think I I’m with you i think some of those things happen not saying that’s what’s going on here with Darius Garland but I would just hope not you know I’d hope it’d be let’s get back out there and try and try and win as soon as possible and unfortunately this injury is keeping me from getting out there sooner than I want to yeah but Darius is also like you man it’s it’s it’s it’s it’s tough your surgery should be the last option if if a doctor told you hey rest and rehab you know why don’t why don’t we see what this thing looks like when it calms down a little bit you could you could potentially be fine we talk about surgeries because of their association with sports like they’re nothing they are not even on the toe they’re cutting open your body and again if it if like this if if it’s this is how we fix this this is how we treat this then that then that’s fine a lot of times there’s multiple ways to fix something or there’s multiple routes to take to getting something fixed it sounds like that was the case here where we’re going to try something it didn’t work now they have to go the surgical process and now you have a guy who’s been kind of I don’t want to say he’s stuck in no man’s land he had a big role with this team last year but there have been questions about the fit between Cleveland and Darius for I mean since Donovan got there essentially since Donovan got there and now we’ve got him in this position where now he’s coming off of a surgery and you don’t know exactly where this where this partnership is going right and it may have set him up for a quiet off seasonason he’s due 39.4 this upcoming season 42 next year 44.8 the year prior before entering unrestricted free agency no player options no team options on the remaining three deal three years of Darius Garland’s deal uh another player that we’ve heard about is Drew Holiday mark Stein confirmed that uh the Celtics phone is ringing quite a bit when it comes to acquiring Drew Holiday and again I think everyone trying to get a feel for what exactly Boston is doing this off season what their approach is i know uh Brad Stevens said following their elimination our goal is to have a championship uh contender and a championship team which is exactly the type of thing I would expect Brad Stevens to say someone might have said to him “Hey can we get one that’s a little less expensive?” And they are facing just unheard of tax penalties and uh Drew Holiday Christophs Porzingis being another one of course no one knows if Chris Porzingis is exactly alive but Christophs Porzingis being another Boston Celtic who almost assuredly is on the move it seems like Boston has two Demar De Rozans porzingis for sure yeah maybe Drew Holiday lots of noise around Drew Holiday in the bosses i got to ask the question just because you know let’s let’s just ask the question would you consider Kristoff Pingis here in Sacramento yeah Will brought that up Friday i don’t know i mean I don’t love it you might have to send me something what if he could breathe yeah yeah like yeah could he could Could he have confirmation what if I have confirmation that from a real doctor he could breathe now could he run yes that’s what I mean like yes he’s he’s got his all respiratory okay can he do this for four straight minutes right or 10 three and a half per quarter i’m not um I don’t hate it the deal would be minimal and I’m not sure that that’s not a situation where Boston sending something out with him yeah I saw that today i was going to mention like I saw something today where like you might have to attach a pick to Chris Stops if you want to send them out yeah like we’ve seen teams have to make those deals there were allegedly Chicago was trying to do that with Boston i have a tough time believing some of those reports that came out i I’m sorry chicago was trying to do that with Zack Lavine i have a tough time believing some of those reports that came out but yeah Boston it might be your turn you might have to attach a pick or or or a young player someone likes to be able to get a deal with Chris Porzingis done so So what would that Let’s talk about Sacramento for a second with that what would that look like like would they even financially Well you still have to make money match yeah so because you got Demar Dear and I wouldn’t want to do this i’m just trying to find some some contracts but Deamar and Devin Carter gets you to what about 30 31 million and Brazing I think is like 47 or something right yeah that’s what I was going to look at now so me up for that though that’s the That’s the killer with that one for the Kings i would take a chance on Porzingis KP in the 28th pick for Dear and Devin he’s due he’s he’s only do only he’s only do 30.7 this year 30.7 30.7 well Z says the the Rosen for Pzingus works straight up moneywise so let me ask this then one you better send me a pick send me something else to go along with that if you’re Boston but are you sure you want to do that like if if if Dear is your if if Dear is your asset if Dear is your biggest trade ship do you want to use it here well this is so this is a thought process because if you use it here you still got to handle the point guard situation but if you use it you can have KP at your five you move in Domas to four and now you’ve got Keegan at the three so you’ve handled that situation okay and really KP would end up being you’re you’re getting Dom but KP is the stretch five so now you’re allowing Domas to still orchestrate and do things around the basket because he’s not that type of stretch big you got KP doing that a little bit more often and you’re still able to have Keegan at three Lavine at the two and now you know you start going hunting for a point guard so what happened so what’s the plan when Porzingis inevitably misses games that will happen by the way like just that’s going Yeah even if it’s even if it’s scheduled rest games like you’ve got to have a you have to have scheduled or mystery illness mystery WWE illness for him like he’s going to get something um this is and this is the part that makes me not as bullish on getting Chris Porzingis but my thought is you either are drafting big man um for those moments or you got Nasty Boy ready to go JV Jiannis Valentinis for those that are new to the program and you’re running the lineup of JV and Domas is the starting lineup yeah I’m not crazy about that yeah now you don’t got no stretch nobody they both were on the block they might be fighting each other on the block said “No this is my block.” Who do you guys like better Drew Holiday or Chris Porzingas even with their contract I think Chris Stops money at least off of that so yeah i don’t care about Drew’s contract it doesn’t bother me you’re a Drew Holiday guy still huh like you still I like I still like Drew Holiday yeah I think Drew will still be productive but you guys are unethical and you just want a bunch of scoring we’ve established that already get buckets call it unethical we call it the future yeah man christopher Drew couldn’t work drew couldn’t work with Zack Lavine no you need more on that team still yeah you you just need more i think Drew could work but you you need you still got work to do you still got got work to do to get the four of what I if if if if the Kings got Drew Holiday what would be the ideal four to work out your other position problem that you talked about cuz would you would it have to be a score and he’d have to get I mean probably but you also I don’t know where those guys are at i mean Yeah no I got you you’re you’re I’m not saying this guy um specifically because it trying to be realistic with the conversation but uh Lori marketing type okay you know like somebody that can stretch the floor can get you 17 to 20 points per game and I don’t know who that is outside of Lori Markin which I don’t know how you’re getting him well you’re not you’re not so what you’re talking about what are they doing what is Utah doing like why oh I have no idea why do you have Lori marketed i have no clue they thought they were getting Cooper flag i’ve seen some Oh yeah this is the off seasonason that Utah finally pounces on whatever okay utah not pouncing when is Danny A ever pounce no no danny A just sits here with like oh I’ve got the ability to trade i got the ability to drag i got the ability to do this and in the end as you are very well aware of he does nothing he just sits and sits and sits and trade deadlines come and go started seasons come and go like there he never does anything and then the second the trade deadline passes he starts talking about all of the stuff he would have done the only one I really fault him for is not trading Terry Ros it was always a Yeah he didn’t want to trade Terry Rosier for Jimmy Butler he just left Terz too much it’s like I wonder how much the other ones are just holding on to Tatum and Brown which proved to be the right the right call even though But Tatum and Brown aren’t on the Jazz right now they’re not yeah i don’t know i don’t know i have no idea what Danny Ang is doing with that roster at this point like you said it seems like they were just let’s just get Cooper and then that’s when we’ll start what we’re doing and they fell right what are they four five yeah they’re out of the top four right i think so because isn’t Charlotte four that’s right that’s right uh Dallas San Antonio san Antonio Philly and Charlotte charlotte so yeah yeah Utah’s fifth not that they can’t you get a fine player you’re not getting Cooper flag what do you think about people in the chat saying getting Drew Holiday in the trade and getting Nas Reed oh I’m I’ll always be fine if Naz Reed is on this team nazar Reed your starting four it’s cool you still have Valenunis well depending on what a trade looks like you still have you might still have Valenunis as your backup he plays alongside Damonte Sabonis it’s a team full of solid players i mean you’re getting you’re getting your defense and all that too but I don’t know feel like Nas is probably involved in any potential Kevin Durant trade proposal could be wrong in that sentiment but could be but I think he’s expected to opt out of his contract no they they would in that case they’d have to convince him to opt in and then use him as part of it if that’s the case why didn’t they trade him in February i mean make another run i mean unless I mean unless they’re confident they’re going to unless they plan on resigning him but that doesn’t sound like what’s going on in Minnesota right now no they got they got money issues that they got to be aware of and he’s he might he might be out break those money issues yeah h I’ve always liked Naz Reed always always not the best postseason though no hey Nas you can come stink it up in the postseason here though if you’d like yeah let’s do it timberwolves not the best postseason to be fair went to the conference finals it was a flu we can all talk we can all like be real about it we can call what it is that was fool’s gold that was fake all of it fazy yes and I don’t buy into like I still answer superstar online but yeah that that run that was a Mickey Mouse run oh man bubble level a little harsh but no I mean that’s tough beat up on the on the Lakers who Lakers they never got back to what they were post LeBron injury the series is automatically null and void when Rudy Gobear has 27 and 25 that instantly just little Johnny over here just had the game of his life like he barely plays that’s a good point i don’t know i would I still would have picked them to beat the the Warriors are you a Timberwolves supporter no because I don’t really feel one way or another when they win or lose a game how many teams do you support in the NBA good question well I’m a Kings fan no yeah the Kings we know you’re a Kings fan how many teams do you support though knicks just the Knicks no just the Knicks i’m a Knicks supporter the Lakers that’s it yeah the Lakers why do you keep throwing this Lakers nonsense in here the hell is wrong with you wait is that Kenny at the Lakers parade no you ain’t never seen Kenny at no damn Lakers parade sir i beg to differ there’s pictures all over the internet so we just believe the internet we just believe the internet wow this is ridiculous do you believe that that doesn’t add up to me carmemelllo Anthony just signed with the Lakers by the way okay l show i’m sorry excuse me smile on that man’s face when he said that too just smile that’s ridiculous stop it smile from that clip get rid of that damn clip we’re going to throw some flashback music on there exactly i don’t know how we know the same noise or whatever that’s the one I was thinking of i think that’s the uni it’s like sitcoms it’s the universal sign for like a throwback scene don’t you remember what you said dude [Music] so we didn’t solve anything yet though we never do kp or Drew i think I’d if if Boston put Hey you can have either one of these we can make it work in a D Rozan type deal i’d go Drew i would too i think I’d go KP he can’t I mean like you said the guy can’t even get if he is like if he can seriously though if he figures out this respiratory illness and all that and all right there’s no way you could financially do it but I’d send him here just throw them both in like you don’t want but there’s no there’s no financial way to make that work is when he’s healthy when he is playing he’s really good like you still protect the rim shoot the three but like how much did he actually play look I’m I’m I don’t want to like crush the guy for not being healthy whatever bro has like a mysterious illness like a stay off of Twitter yeah how come he can’t talking about KP you see the allegations as well stay off of Oh no what are you doing i think it’s just jokes yeah it’s just jokes i’ll text it in the group yeah if it’s the same thing it’s not It’s nothing like that but I don’t know oh it is kind of like It is but it’s nothing i saying that on Yeah it’s just Twitter being Twitter you know point being he has an undiagnosed illness that show I don’t know i can’t play him he’s Well how come he wasn’t out there he can’t breathe that’s a problem the one and I could be wrong i I keep saying like he’s he’s a professional athlete also he’s a human being if the brother can’t breathe can y’all go figure out why that’s It’s just so bizarre like he can’t run more than a handful of minutes without having to stop that’s not normal no that needs to be addressed yeah and I I wish they get some answers from my man so he can figure out how to fix it scary scary situation actually yeah very much so did you see and well I mean there’s fans and media members ac across the world were scared this weekend when they saw Victor Wimman Yama cut his hair i saw that and I’ve gotten hip to it a little bit more throughout the day like I Okay he’s activated a new mode he was with the monks yeah well yeah and now he shaved his head and he’s he shaved his head faster than Mike did so that means that means you know beast mode is activated well I for his sake I hope this I hope it works they were people on social media were reacting to Wimi shaving his head the way that Kenny reacted to Wimi in that Netflix edit all around terrifying he’s Yeah not that he’s kind of like he’s next he’s the chosen one for the league right now no there’s no doubt about that loves him but like it’s kind of like even with that he shaved his head Twitter just made a whole big deal about it and all that stuff it’s like like he’s he’s got a rocket ship here comes enlightened Victor Wimyama oh no what does that mean the the the Zen everything’s going to connect and I don’t think you find anyone that hates Victor Wyama either right now like just everyone is a Victor Wyama fan i feel for Twitter that’s kind of crazy two years that is crazy yeah we’re just we’re all enamored terrified at the same time but I think everybody just wants to see like how good is this how good this kid really is like cuz right now he’s really good how much better does he become yeah where can he go with it mhm um our our post over the weekend did some some cool numbers a lot of people hot takes they they agree with you they say Tyrese is is better than De’Arra Fox okay the only reason I bring that up is are we going to say that when uh Darren Fox is in his fourth straight NBA finals fourth straight NBA finals as the second option because he’s not he’s going to be in Victor Winyama’s four straight NBA finals they always talk about winning though like end up just with a point guard the the Pacers Tyrese Hallebert he’ll never be the first he’ll never be the video package yeah there’s levels to it i think he’s not the story anymore vic is it’s about winning it’s not about winning it’s I mean it is like No you you have to be the guy yeah that’s the thing he’s not the guy tai’s the guy on the Pacers you could you could look around you could think about it ty the guy on the Pacers most popular guy he’s the He’s the guy that everybody goes to tyrese is the reason the Pacers are in the NBA finals and if we if any of the rumors that we’ve seen this off seasonason with the Spurs come true and they get another big player like yeah he’s not like he’s just gonna fall even more behind he might not even be there i understand hey we need $30 million i got it hey five it’s been fun give him a tribute video i I understand that you imagine you know there’s a very real scenario where the Spurs they could go get Giannis KD and not trade number two mhm that’s that is ex that is extremely real yes and one of the main reasons it is is because De’aran’s there and when you need that money it’s right there they got a bunch of money they can move they do they can do they’re they’re a lot like Houston we can we talked so much about Houston they could literally do anything they wanted to this offseason that’s facts absolutely anything we’ll talk more about that you clearly don’t agree with me regarding Tyrese Hallebertton and Dear Fox and you clearly don’t like Tyrese Hallebertton so I’m going to need you to explain wow and you’re right the Post did do numbers and uh we’ll check in to see uh there was a voting uh thing that Ley posted uh on that post we’ll see what that looks like um plus James Ham almost certainly uh at the top of the 3:00 hour if it’s not James Ham it’s the exact opposite it’s going to be hilarious it’s going to be I still have no word on that i would assume it’s not happening cuz I would think we would know by now but you’re right we know nothing just an assumption either way hang out with us yeah we’ll tell you about it we keep no secrets here steo and Casey on ESPN 1320 i know y’all been waiting for whatever is about to happen here all right man oh yeah all right let me let me get in here this cuz this is this is just damn ridiculous i don’t even know if two minutes is enough i don’t I don’t know how this is going to work out but we going to work through it here it’s 13th round jermaine man Kenny Carowway shout out to Jordan Brand shout out to the dope ones shout out to Cola Seamos you already know the vibes all right man so Keshan Davis young upand cominging fighter um he was supposed to fight he was main eventing this Saturday night card on Top Rank Boxing in Norfol Virginia his hometown the day before the fight at the weigh-in he comes in four pounds overweight ridiculous they say the fight’s still going to go on they’re working on some things or whatever later in the day fights off just not even gonna We’re not even gonna do this fights off they move up the the schedule different main event or all this other stuff keshan’s brothers Kelvin I believe it was and Keon I think is the younger brother is Keon the youngest brother is Keon they were fighting on the card as well it’s supposed to be a whole uh Davis you know showcase right keon handles business in his fight kelvin takes on uh Naier Albbright on the fight on ESPN albbright just goes to work on Kelvin absolutely goes to work dominates the fight it just so happens that Keon and Keshan who weren’t fighting well Keshan wasn’t fighting on the card because this fight had to be cancelled because he was four pounds overweight are waiting for Albbright at his dressing room and they jump Albbright you can’t make this up keon and Keshan jump Albbright after Albbright beat the brakes off of their brother in a sanctioned boxing fight keshan allegedly had his toddler son back there with them as they jump Albbright this is disgusting behavior and I haven’t seen somebody fall so far from grace in a span of 48 hours the way Keshan Davis has keshan Davis he he might need to be suspended he might need This was an an abomination of a weekend for Keshan Davis and and the and that behavior on Saturday night that might need to get him suspended 30 60-day suspension or whatever they need to do how embarrassing keshan Davis Keon Davis Top Right Boxing ESPN you should be embarrassed that’s the 13th round that was crazy i couldn’t believe what I was seeing um I’m not sure but is this the guy that tapped out oh boy yeah I think he bit got shot on Ali yeah tapped his ass out ali I’ll never forget when he won the title and he called out Tank Davis this dude man hey man get this look maybe it’s just a match maybe he knew what it was though at the time maybe so maybe so i kind of you know maybe this maybe this is a matchup thing where he just can’t beat this guy and if he fights a jiu-jitsu guy he can’t i don’t all combat sports sucks right now it’s it’s it’s it’s in a tough spot it’s in a tough I think Dame will like this this isn’t bumper or dump it but I think he’ll like this i I got to get your thoughts this is what everybody was talking about let’s just do bumper or dump it right now then okay we’ll get into the the Tyrese stuff i can’t even I’m not even gonna give you the headline okay I’m just gonna tell you what happened all right Keshan Davis uh junior welterweight fighter upand cominging prospect like he’s got a name he’s doing some stuff he talks talks a lot of stuff and you know he looks like he’s one of those guys at the next he had a fight where he was the headliner on Saturday the weighin he comes to the weigh-in four pounds over four pounds overweight and if there’s anything all these professional boxers say is like that is non-negotiable make weight make weight definitely don’t come in four pounds overweight all right so that is just embarrassing in itself they try to negotiate some stuff cuz he’s the headliner you know for him to still fight they can’t come to an agreement fights off right he’s not fighting it was kind of a homecoming fight in Norfolk Virginia where Keshan and his two brothers were on the same card youngest brother Keon and I don’t know if he’s the older brother or middle brother what doesn’t matter kelvin they were all fighting on this card keshan is off now keon fights his fight he wins his fight kelvin fights his fight this is on ESPN and he loses to this young man named uh uh Albbright and he loses pretty dominating performance by Albbright albbright wins the fight he has the decision everything’s good he’s going back to his his locker room and reportedly allegedly Keshan and Keon are waiting for Albbright at the locker and jump him there video of a melee and all this other stuff you can’t really see what’s going on but Keshan who just had his fight canceled because he didn’t make weight and he lost out on the opportunity where he was going to be main event on an ESPN broadcast yeah so he’s in street clothes allegedly he’s with his toddler and Keon who just fought earlier in the night jump Albbright for in a boxing match beating their brother come on now come on now i ain’t never I ain’t never heard nothing like this yeah that’s crazy come on man that’s crazy i ain’t never heard of nothing like that that’s some UFC energy right there man what are we doing that is absolutely ridiculous so yeah that’s what everybody was riled up on about since I see i see i see okay okay i was so confused cuz I was like norm and I know you weren’t here Friday but normally if there’s a big fight jumping off this weekend um you’ll say something yeah and this wasn’t even a big fight yeah that’s Well that’s what I mean i was like I didn’t even know but the way that Chatty house was talking it was they two 21 2 What is going on that was crazy man that was absolutely crazy no yeah I’m I’m glad we That’s That’s fascinating um All right what else we got what’s the Dump It um Hit the Music hit the music we got to get We got to get the drop of ravaging room saying that we got to get that oh that’d be great yeah um if only we took the time to do that $1.2 billion dollar generated oh that’s slick all right bump it a recently published study from LSU’s business school estimated that February’s Super Bowl in New Orleans generated $1.2 billion for Louisiana’s economy okay the event also supported nearly 10,000 local jobs as Nolia attracted 115,000 visitors for the weekend’s events 100,000 of those visitors being from out of state wow $1.2 billion dollar generated that’s crazy i wonder like cuz Santa Clara is next year or is it this Super Bowl the Super Bowl coming up it’s 60 right it’s 50 and 60 um I wonder if that is a number it generally generates or if that approaches a number it generally generates in the city that hosts it or the New Orleans was there something else was there something else yeah going for a three being there new Orleans new Orleans it’s a combination of It’s a different New Orleans is a very San Francisco is gorgeous it’s San Francisco is absolutely one of one of the most beautiful cities in the in the in the country it’s it’s not New Orleans it’s not traveling to nor like New I don’t San Francisco I’m sure it’s a destination it’s like a sightseeing destination new Orleans isn’t necessarily sightseeing new Orleans is like Vegas but different like you’re going to turn up in New Orleans and yeah I I’m I that that’d be it’d be an interesting number to look back on and an interesting number to look ahead as the Super Bowl comes to California i agree yeah that’s that was a big number i was like wow and million with a B and I wonder you know are they going to incorporate Oakland i can’t remember if they did last year or not i don’t think that they did but I can’t remember if they did for 50 i remember everything being in downtown San Francisco streets being blocked you know the embarad all of that i remember that very vividly and then of course the game being in Santa Clara but I can’t remember how the other areas were worked in too those people who aren’t familiar with the situation or or boy what the media people they’re gonna be talking about that how everything is in San Francisco but the game is x amount of well the the the the the location shot it’s always funny and it makes every the location shot is always downtown San Francisco 45 minutes away here in Santa Clara now I I don’t think it’s the exact same i think it’s a little closer but isn’t um Arlington a little ways away from Dallas it is no it’s it’s it’s it’s a shoot 45 minutes it’s a I don’t know how many miles it is i just remember at least at the time I was in Dallas it’s a difficult drive like it’s not there aren’t multiple ways into the Jerry world and so you can get it it can it can it can bottleneck a little bit and be rough uh but yeah it’s not it’s not in Dallas they got more of those situations than I think people realize i know uh Washington and Landover are they in Landover uh Landover Maryland yeah uh obviously you got Met Life in New Jersey and um yeah you got more of those than than you realize um all right next one federal judge approves House verse NCAA settlement allowing college athlete pay bump it yeah starting July 1st all division one schools will be able to directly pay players for the first time in NCAA history it’s all thanks to the House verse NCAA settlement which federal judge Claudia Wilin approved on Friday after months of deliberation and a lengthy objection pro process over the past few weeks the settlement has almost tanked due to an issue over roster limits but a solution submitted on May 7th appears to have satisfied Wilkins concerns so okay they get paid that’ll be uh So there are a lot more things to follow now namely title nine where is this money going right uh who is it going to how is it distributed how are the percentages distribute like this it’s a victory but it’s creating a whole host of other problems it’s almost certainly going to create a whole host of other lawsuits cuz I don’t imagine anyone is going to handle this properly now there’s ways to do it ncaa athletes at my university get paid this much and it doesn’t matter what you do this is the this is the your paycheck essentially for being an NCAA athlete then your NIL stuff comes into play and that’s completely separate nil uh you know for you know the starting quarterback at Alabama doesn’t have to concern themselves with the starting pitcher on the softball team this money that you just spoke about they do this is university money and it’ll be you know I I I think um I someone used to refer to it I it might have been David Patrick it’s still the wild wild west when it comes to this stuff and there’s going to be periods of wild this it’s this isn’t close to being like sorted out there’s a lot of regulations and things that are going to have to happen with this settlement that just got approved and NIL money moving forward these are all things that are going to have to be figured out in time they’re not going to be figured out today they’re not going to be figured out next year they’re probably not going to be figured out within the next five years so you’re gonna have uh Okay uh getting drafted here at number three uh by the Dallas Cowboys because they stunk again this kid went to Cal Texas Tennessee and Auburn they show a highlight package from all the from Yeah from like four different schools that’s That’s just the way it’s going to be hear me out when I say this i think you understand the essence of what I’m about to ask you and know that I am all for these players getting their money man like oh you about to say something they they they generate a lot of money and I’m not against them getting some of that money at all you got Dabo Carowway or do you prefer Kenny Sweeney very good kenny Sweeney that guy kenny Sweeney sounds like a Sports Center anchor it sounds like a country artist actually kenny Chzn maybe that’s what you know has this just created a bunch of mess was was Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were Were things I’ll even say it like this i even I’ll even say it like this were people still get the money were things a little bit How do I put this more in control when they were just getting it under the table well it just sounds like no one was prepared for this how can you prepare for this no no it wasn’t more controlled but it and it wasn’t near it wasn’t near near maybe it was controlled but it wasn’t nearly as much money true you’re probably talking I mean if you’re if you’re smart you might be talking thousands of dollars if you’re really slick and devious you’re maybe talking hundred $200,000 we’re talking millions of dollars now you can’t funnel that under the table anymore this this this thing is an absolute mess and I the only only out I see of this where you get some type of um semblance of of uh what’s the word I’m looking for like just some type of of not control but just without it being chaos is these teams or these conferences or whatever just leaving NCAA and creating a salary cap essentially like that cuz this is this is a mess like being able to pay whatever amount of dollars to the to these athletes these athletes being able to just leave whenever pop up at different schools whenever um basically being bought from school to school it is complete chaos and it and I still like all the college sports or whatever but I could see where it might ruin the enjoyment of not because they’re making money but because you can’t keep up with them you can’t keep up with some of these players like you can at least keep up with players in pro sports somebody signed a four-year contract they gonna be there you know like the the college guys Sak State they be happy they got Mikey Williams mikey Williams might be gone in a year if you’re doing a salary cap do you still my question be like do you still have the ability to make NI NIL’s like just on the side or whatever and also are you just doing that for like the football sports and all that like the big ones i’d imagine that model doesn’t work with the other sports so what you could do from a salary cap perspective is just the whole school operates under a salary cap the NIL funds to uh a a stack SAK state distribution bank so all of Mikey Williams all of this money that goes towards player it goes to that account and the university is left up to distributing that to the respective players within that cap how about it’s far more complicated than like a NBA cap would be none of us really know how the NFL cap works who knows so we’ll just we’ll just go by the one we know and that’s the NBA cap and then you know right now it’s operating under the baseball cap where they’re it doesn’t exist and you can you can buy a national championship like Ohio State did they definitely bought one it wasn’t earned like uh in Michigan that’s what you think happened yeah it was earned we didn’t buy no national championship we earned it hard work dedication stop playing with us you’re like two weeks away from having two coaches in jail well wait a minute over your championship like I’m Yeah harbaugh was arrested uh for his h how about this how about this i’m just trying to figure out how to fix things how about if you get rid of NIL and just go with the school can pay you it’ll never be enough yeah like the Texas Tech softball player whatever she’s getting a seven figure deal I think next year can you still do that with her and like the salary cap if you just take away NIL yeah like you could like like pay that much and all that it’s just limited to this one now yeah like you you you you definitely could that’s what I’m think like if the school but the salary cap I don’t want to say that eliminates the need for NIL because you can get as much money but a potential salary cap eliminates like there’s a there there I think there are regulations that need to happen but I don’t think a salary cap is one of them okay because no salary cap but no nil school pays you no you you should you should have the the ability to earn nil what you can’t do is you can’t agree to a pilot gas station is offering you $10 million to play at the University of Tennessee to go play quarterback at the University of Tennessee when you sign that agreement you’re the quarterback at the University of Tennessee until you’re eligible to be drafted and and I’m with that too i’m with that too what can’t what what I feel like they have to start regulating is the ability of Lovey’s truck stop to come in and say “Hey Tennessee quarterback we’ve got 15.5 million for you to come play quarterback at Vanderbilt which is insane i should have just said Alabama or Auburn anyway but but that but but that’s that’s what NIL’s do right they level the playing field a little bit if you got one of them dogs in the market who’s willing to invest in in the university what you can’t have in my opinion is is the Tennessee quarterback going “Oh man I got a better deal a six months after signing this one with this uh school and this truck stop gas station that wants to pay me that is also doing it to compete with the the truck stop gas station that paid me in Tennessee.” Right that’s where you’re getting into this marketing thing and now you’re using kids as pawns again so while I’m if Pilot says “Hey uh you know this didn’t work out we’re getting rid of this NIO,” then the kid can go do what he wants but I I think if if the agreement is there to to to pay the young man the agreement should be there or the young woman the agreement should be there until they’re eligible to get drafted professionally in their sport they should all maybe not all but a lot of them should start at two-year deals sure two-year deal like you got to be here two years and during that two years we’ll we’ll honor our agreement to pay you and you stay stay here for two years i just I don’t like the the jumping from school to school year type deal like I think I think that’s not good for anybody involved does that get messy cuz like what if you cuz essentially you don’t go anywhere like you sign a two-year deal right and what if insert coach brings in this top QB like “All right I’m done with you you’re not the student starting quarterback here now you’re just kind of stuck there for a year because you have your NIL you have to fulfill you can.” And my thing so with my thing is you can leave but now we’re going back to you got to sit out a year yeah I don’t love that either again so these are all things that have to get worked out it’s a mess it no I I don’t disagree i don’t disagree but I also don’t think that coaches I think when coaches leave players should have the ability to make decisions for themselves that should be that should be a situation where a player can leave uh NIL or like whatever is involved after that fine but I think those circumstances should be few and far between that’s a circumstance that I think absolutely works then Norm says Norm Will says “When will high schools pay players?” Yesterday like it’s going down monterey Trail just lost they one of their best basketball players to Bishop Gorman i think he’s going to Vegas i remember watching a YouTube video on people from Florida betting on pee-wee football games damn well that’s there’s money everywhere if you want to find it that that is uh they Yeah they do that in Florida they they wilding on them they wild uh you got any more i got a few more i got a few more let’s see bump it or dump it texas blocks Ohio State from having a night game [Music] okay texas blocked Ohio State from moving its marquees season opener against the Longhorns to Sunday night but not because of kickoff time athletic director Chris Delcante said on Wednesday ohio State proposed moving the season openers scheduled for noon Eastern on Saturday August 30th to Sunday night but Texas nicks the idea because of shorter preparation time for its week 2 matchup uh Delante said speculation that Texas didn’t want the game to be played in front of a hype crowd of Buckeyes at night was misinformed del Conte had it so they they were having this game and obviously Ohio State was like “Yo let’s let’s make it a night game at the horseshoe but and they were down i think Fox had agreed to to doing it and they just needed Texas to sign off and Texas said no.” So they won’t play at 9:00 a.m pacific Standard Time man that’s funny um Oh that’s funny bump it or dump it okay ellie Dea Cruz has passed the great Tony Gwyn okay bump it ellie Dela Cruz has passed the legendary Tony Gwyn in career strikeouts oh Gwyn played 24,40 games in his career and struck out 434 times it only took Ellie 319 games to pass Hall of Famer Tony Gwyn for strikeouts what kind of gift do you get a person who a bat lasic Gwyn this is crazy gwyn has never struck out or never struck out more than 40 times in a season okay man um let’s see what Pton talking about here real quick i do want to get back to the Tyrese thing um but let’s see what Pton’s talking about here at 916 9091320 Elgrove Kid Talkline what’s up Payton hey what’s up my guys how y’all doing we good man how you doing bro i’m doing worthy man i’m doing worthy hey I’ll be quick um so far the as far as the NIL’s concerned I think these kids got to get their money man like there’s so many kids who are like a notch below professional level so this is the only chance to get paid doing their craft so get it however you got what school you go to it doesn’t matter but as far as the school money I think the money that the school gives these kids should be paid to them like a uh forgivable bonus and they get the bonus but they leave within the two years or four years if they transfer the school it has to be refunded back to the school that way the school gets some kind of agreement from them for the money they given to them but for the NI then they should give and do what they want with it okay I hear you i hear you yeah they um they just gota I just got to find a way to regulate it a little bit more just a little bit more i want I definitely want the the student athletes to get paid like that that don’t need to go away at all and get as much money as they can um but maybe if it if it comes with a when they sign these deals it comes with a little bit of a contract that keeps them at the university for more than a season no it’s that can of worms thing it’s just a different can of worms you just all It feels like all the NCAA is doing is just popping cans of worms and trying to figure out what are we going to do with all these how do we figure all this out and I’m not I’m not sure that they are i mean I I I take that back i think they will it’s just it’s not going to be quickly right it is not going to be quickly at all it’s gonna take it a decade at least and I think the NCAA is doing all this because they’re trying to hold on they’re so they’re almost obsolete that was that was the other thing you said there a minute ago the NCAA is maybe the most useless organization in sports you’re just not needed with conference commissioners and SEC deals and ACC deals all of you’re not you are not needed they’re giving these schools and these universities everything they want yeah just to stay it’s like just just please stay don’t get rid of us please don’t go baby don’t get rid of me don’t get rid of me here’s the flowers here’s everything i got I got one more one more bumper to dump it okay what you think oh oh Jesus i know what you know what you do when this happens sports one all right i do have that one too but this is sports one norfolk State will take on Delaware State in football it’s Michael Vig versus who okay you got All right Jesse got my attention the MAK Conference football program now coached talking about Northol State now coached by former NFL star Michael Vic will play its October 30th game against Delaware State coached by Vick’s former Eagles teammate Deshawn Jackson they will play at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia i remember someone was coaching Delaware State but I couldn’t remember so like it’s Michael Vic versus someone coach Deshawn Jackson is spectacular that’s crazy hey I’m I’m watching oh yeah i want to see Mike Vic and Deshawn Jackson yeah absolutely absolutely uh we’ll come back james Ham will join us we’ll tell the story in a few minutes i’m guessing Whiz Khalifa is not gonna be here yeah I saw that in the rundown yesterday we’ll explain whiz Khalifa is in Sacramento um he’s going to be at Ace of Spades tonight we thought he might pull up uh we were told “Hey man we’re going to do this thing at two.” Okay okay i don’t think we’re going to do that he’ll be there at 3 all right well you might have to go to see him at 6:30 not doing that so we’ll just come back and talk to James instead steo and Casey on ESPN 1320 soaring yeah Big Sean’s on his way whiz has had an interesting career that’s a good call right there successful one though yeah yeah i mean he’s I think he’s got money but like I don’t know how much I don’t know what he does musically now and stuff like that yeah he’s at Ace of Spades tonight but he launched like an amphitheater tour that he’s doing that’s selling like so he’s Yeah he’s he’s had a run interesting character for sure but he’s had a run kevin’s best album that wasn’t even an album yeah Black and Yellow is fire you know what it is yeah all right james Ham going to join us coming up here in just a few minutes kc mentioned this uh just a couple of minutes ago a post that went up on our social channels over the weekend uh shout out to our boy Lee leezy put out a uh it was a post that also had a question attached to it prior to game one of the NBA finals uh D1 KC revisited the debate of Fox versus Hallebert and their time sharing uh the back court for the Kings and then the the it kind of asked who’s better and uh 62% of the vote said Tyrese uh 18 said De’aran 18 excuse me 18% said both are great in their own way and then 1% don’t make said don’t make me pick there’s some the convers like the it was it turned into a really interesting conversation and it was never meant to be a you know the conversation the conversation we had on the air did wind up becoming a Fox versus Hallebertton thing though it wasn’t necessarily designed to be that it was really talking about the differences in the two players [Music] and the shortcomings each of them have tyresese’s shortcomings are on full display in front of the NBA world right now and these are things that we have known about Tyrese these are things that we have uh seen these are things that we have discussed regarding Tyrese Hallebertton really for years de’arren is a different type of player there and and this is this is the difficult this is one of the tough things uh to evaluate with these two guys because they’re two completely different types of players and De’Arren is a scorer and Tai is that you know I guess this is all a bit overused the traditional point guard and I was trying to find a comp for Tai tell me if this is crazy i couldn’t think of anyone else i kind of I don’t know i’ll just tell you the name he’s Steve Nash i think that’s a hell of a comp okay that’s a good That’s a really good one like so Steve who obviously is is a two-time MVP forgotten and all that he finished second the the the third season won the MVP won the MVP then finished second it’s like 15 points per game 18 points per game he wasn’t scoring you know 30 plus like Shay is doing he he he you know Joe I think scored 30 plus when when he won the MVP giannis has just been you know absolutely insane the last handful of uh uh years you know his game in general when it comes to scoring been absolutely incredible yeah that to me is like how you have to evaluate Tyrese Hallebertton and Tai’s not He’s capable of going to get you 30 he’s done it and I think he can do it more often than he might not be able to do it against this Oklahoma City team he’s going to have to find different ways to impact but we can’t judge Tai by how he scores but man when you’re going against a defense like the Oklahoma City Thunder who is making life difficult on the likes of Pascal Seakum hell even TJ McConnell the different guys that are out there it’s going to be difficult to judge him any other way and when you and a whole host of others but you’re having five points going into the fourth quarter and it’s not five on like one of 12 he took like five shots four shots right and it that’s where it kind of get into that kind of that that scratching i don’t know i don’t know what to do with this so okay i’m I’m going try cuz we’ll see we’ll see if it all ties together tyrese Hallebertton number one I love Tyrese let’s stop with the the fake news that is going on in sack media we’re just starting with a kiss of death to begin huh oh the sack media out here talking about I hate Tyrese Hallebertton hell no love Tyrese Hallebertton i really do um but we talk about Dear Fox and one of the things that you’ve said consistently about De’ar Fox is he doesn’t know how good he could be why when we see when we see performances like Tyrese Hallebertton’s last night does he not get the same he doesn’t know how good he can be cuz I’m saying that I’m assuming I should ask you you’re right here but when you say that about De’aran you see he goes for 35 and then the next night he’ll have 16 it’s like what are you what are you doing like why can’t you do this consistently and be a 28 point per game scorer you have the ability to do that why when Tyrese has 30 and 32 and 15 in the night and then comes back in the Garden and has 11 and five mhm are we not having the same conversation about Tyrese Hallebert and I think I know why that is but I want to hear your thoughts i think there are two numbers that you just gave that are anomalies the 32 in the scoring column in the first game and the five in the assist column in the second game i don’t think those are reflective of how he plays on a night-to-ight basis and [Music] um it’s I don’t think that’s who he is as a play like so the the the 30 is I don’t think that’s who he is as a player i don’t expect him to score 30 every night i expect him to have really between 10 [Music] and 15 assist every night now that changed a little bit this year he averaged more points and less assist uh than he did he averaged you know he he he had a higher assist rate than he did last year but he averaged more points this year than he did last year and I’m not sure like I I think that was a I think that was an effort on his part to be a you know more of a scorer but I don’t think he’s a scorer i don’t think he ever will be a true scorer i think he’ll be able to have moments like he has with the 30 and I think that a 30 or a 32 hell even a 25 i think it’s always going to come in the flow of a game and it’s like what’s this game look like what’s it feel like right now for Tai oh if if if if the shots are there he gonna take them if they’re not he’s not it’s not that different you know as much as we do De’Aran versus Tyrese it’s not that different than Domas dom will not work to get a shot like you know what I mean like he’s not going to go he’s not going to he’s not going to take a bad shot we’ve talked about that a million times that’s why he’s constantly shooting 60s something percent um he’s not going to find one his shot’s going to be there and if it’s not right there he’s going to know exactly where it’s at and he’s going to go get it i feel like Tai is kind of similar and he’ll do that and if it’s not there he’s going to get Seakum the ball he’s going to get N he’s going to get someone else the ball to get them in a position to score and that’s what he does first so they’re just they’re just not the same type of player so excuse me and that’s I don’t disagree with that i I I completely understand the um the things that Tyrese Hallebertton brings to the table that aren’t necessarily measured by numbers his leadership his ability to um include others on a consistent basis and make them feel is he’s a point guard in every he’s a point guard and a leader in every sense of the word and those things factor in to you know who you want to build around who you want to play with or whatever but it feels like in a lot of people’s minds and maybe in yours that De’aran gets um the short end of the stick because he can be so much better whereas Tyrese gets credit because he’s maximized what he can do even if maximizing what he can do is still numbers-wise at least less than the Fox yeah [Music] um in the spirit of what you’re saying I think that’s very fair i think Tyrese can get better i don’t think Tyrese is maxed out but again in the spirit of what you said I believe Tyrese is maximizing his potential and you’re at least where he’s at right now right right yeah yeah and I believe he’s I and again I think Tyrese is going to continue to get better but I don’t watch Tyrese and feel like he’s leaving something out on the table sometimes I do because there are some times where I do think he passes on scoring i don’t think that happened in game one or game two but there are times where I’ve watched him play particularly in regular season games there was a game versus New York where I felt like he just he just kind of passed like he he wasn’t aggressive on the offensive end at all for no fault to what the Knicks were doing he just wasn’t um but I do think like I I think he can you know continue to get better i think he has shortcomings de’arren I just think De’aran hasn’t i don’t think Dearan has maximized who he is as a player and I don’t think I’ll ever back off until he shows me otherwise i don’t think I’ll ever back off darren has no idea how great he is at basketball and and a lot of this some of this argument I’m saying are like a number statistic thing and it’s more than that we just kind of talked about just building a team who would you want in the locker room probably Tyrese Hallebertton like that factors in too but if don’t if uh excuse me if De’Arren Fox has given you 80% of what he could be and Tyrese how up until this point 80% of what he could be and Tyrese has given you 100% of what he could be but De’aran’s numbers are better mhm wouldn’t that make Dearan a better player or is he getting handicapped because he hasn’t given you 100% of what he can do uh no i think De’aran gets handicapped because I don’t know i don’t know what De’ar’s games lead to yet some of that is the fault of the Sacramento Kings um some of it is just a general bad taste in my mouth from last season in that Yeah I know the roster is not good enough you do thousand people watching who however many people listening they know yeah we can’t do anything about it dog but like you have a direct impact on this team winning or losing it’s tough asking you to do it uh by yourself or maybe without all of the resources that you that you might need bro you got to do it and it was tough to get past some of the the podcast and the in the press conferences where it’s like we’re not good enough or we need this we need no then bro you’re not good enough right like you can go score 30 hollow ass points that mean nothing what am I supposed to do with that like so I feel like I get into a position to whether I’m judging De’Aran Fox’s 30 points and what they mean versus Tyrese’s 15 assists and if one results in you know four W’s in five games and one results in two or three I’m going to go with you know the the the four and five and that’s and that’s where I just get stuck with De’Arren is I I don’t know I don’t know what his game means thought I did thought I did in the playoffs thought I did in that series was very confident about the direction of this organization and the direction of Tier Fox’s career and it just didn’t materialize that way and that’s where like the the crux of the conversation that we we had number one is fascinating to me like just hearing people talk about basketball and constructing teams and stuff like that like I think De’aran Fox is just a more talented player than Ty T Tyrese Hallebertton there is more that he can do on a basketball court that Tyrese I just don’t believe can’t do but when you talk about the intangibles the leadership um I don’t want to say high IQ like Darren doesn’t have a high IQ but Tyrese is off the charts he’s at the top of the the level the the top level with with his basketball IQ and his understanding of the nuances of um not only how to get others involved but he started to figure out how to get others involved while making sure I’m still a threat as well they it almost all balances out in my opinion between the two because while D dearan is physically superior and I think more talented of a basketball player Tyrese makes up for all that with his understanding of what to do in a game and understanding of what to do with teammates and in a locker room i think that’s superior so it for me it kind of ends up being a wash like if everybody everybody ever asked me to answer the question I think De’Arren’s a better player but there are so many components to Tyrese Tyrese’s game that I value really really high and I I appreciate if and I want to bring James into this but if if if both players max did the unthinkable right and maximize their potential both of them which player is better i think so too i think so too i also don’t think that’s ever going to happen bring in James Ham james what was your conversation with Kyle Matson this morning on the insiders regarding Tyrese Hallebertton after that performance last night um I think it’s interesting he’s uh like every time he takes like five steps forward he has a game like this um where it just kind of he doesn’t stand out uh but to be honest with you like that’s the Indiana Pacers you know like there are ways to take away one player and when one player has as much of an impact as a game as Tyrese does that’s what your job is as the Thunder is to try to just knock him off balance make him more of a of a score i I think you know the Pacers are going to have to make some major adjustments to to get Tai free they’re going to have to run more screens they’re going to have to stop slipping all their screens and just running to the basket expecting him to be able to hit them in stride because that’s just not the the way that that OKC plays defense so I think you get exposed a little bit but for as much as we want to say that Tyresese Hallebertton is also the guy who’s hit four or five gamewinners in one playoff season and and led his team all the way to the NBA finals so um yeah I mean I think our conversation was centered more around you know where is he as a player and you know are we jumping to too far saying he’s like a top 10 player or he’s uh you know one of the best best players a superstar um but I don’t know i think both things can be true i think you can have a bad game in the finals and you can also be uh someone who’s proving that you’re a superstar every single time you go out on the floor yeah and the whole superstar thing I mean that’s that’s subjective that’s what people think i’m not here to somebody thinks he’s a a superstar who might be like “No you’re wrong he’s not a superstar.” Like it’s that’s what they that person feels and believes i don’t think he he is a superstar yet and that’s okay he’s I think he’s relatively early in his career he’s got plenty of time to build that resume to be there but those moments um where he plays like he did last night we’ve seen it in every series and when I think of the superstars they just don’t have that leeway like they don’t have that lebron James have a fivepoint third quarter like LeBron James had a triple double in the NBA finals and it was like a Jason kid triple double and he never lives it down never lives it down like the the true superstars in my opinion don’t get to have those type of performances or don’t get to have the game five that Tyrese had in the Garden with a chance to close out or the game three against Cleveland you know I think Anthony Edwards is a is a superstar i think it was the day you were here but he also did it when they got eliminated those last two games of that series was ridiculous that was embarrassing that’s an indictment on Anthony Edwards and I’m not going to give him a P i think he’s a superstar i can’t give you a pass if I think you’re a superstar for those two performances that’s awful and if that’s the way Tyrese is being categorized as a superstar that was pathetic last night my response would be that you know LeBron never hit five game winners in a in a playoffs well James let’s not we’re not have they’re not they’re not the same no no no i I’m not saying but if you’re going to compare Tai to LeBron and say that he doesn’t have you know LeBron doesn’t have those types of games and all these players those other players also don’t hit one game winner after another after another after another after another and lead their team almost single-handedly at certain points to the NBA finals now that doesn’t mean LeBron has led a team to the finals like all kinds of different teams at the same time what I’m saying though is if LeBron has that game he gets his ass lit up lit up and he This was almost 15 years ago and he hasn’t lived that game down yet that’s what I’m saying that’s that’s what the the the superstars they just can’t have that game ever ever ever and that if that’s if that’s the energy that people are going to have towards Tyrese because they say he’s a superstar then that’s fine too but it can’t be uh you know he hits clutch shots so that’s bad but he hits clutch shots like no don’t nobody say that about the true superstars and that’s that’s my whole thing like they’re expected to perform a certain way every single time out and anything less is is just unacceptable well yeah but my point stands it doesn’t matter how many times LeBron walked in and was most dominant player on the floor he still never came away from games with that many big-time shots like you can say it’s a clutch gene you can say whatever but Tyrese Hallebertton straight up a winner and and I think that’s the biggest thing for me is that we’re learning each and every time anytime the games it like we can ask the question now if you had one player with their and you wanted the ball in their hands at the end of a game in the NBA today it’s Tyrese Hallebert and it’s it’s not De’arren Fox it’s not Kyrie it’s not Luca Donuch or LeBron James this dude has come through every single time and so like I I get I get your comparison he’s but he’s also he’s not a 30 point per game score he’s a guy who leads the league in assists and who runs the highest octane offense where you know they they share the ball and they keep everybody involved um like I’m not gonna ding a guy just because he he doesn’t score like like Shay you know because I I would I even made the point to Kyle like as much as we want to you know clap for Shay and say how great he’s been in these playoffs he’s averaging like two points less per game than he did in the regular season like aren’t superstars supposed to elevate their game in the playoffs yeah he elevated and he averaging like 35 in the finals who’s that two games sga he had 38 in game one what do you have 34 last night yeah but he’s averaging 30 for the entire playoffs biggest stage in the biggest stage in the championship round he has elevated his game and in the biggest stage on the in championship ground at home uh he got beat by Tyresese Hallebert and hitting a 17 foot jumper.3 left so that’s the point like like I I think what we’re watching here is star level players like they’re not on the same They’re not They’re They’re not on the same tier well one’s an MVP that’s That’s okay zice is great that’s okay sga is on a different level yeah but as much as SGA is a is a great scoreer and a great defender like that doesn’t mean that Tai isn’t going to reach the same exact like height because you know look I compare Tai to Steve Nash like I’m not comparing Tai to to Michael Jordan or LeBron James or Kobe Bryant but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t equally as important you know Nash won back-to-back MVPs putting up basically the stats that Tai is putting up right now so I I think you know scoring matters for sure especially on a team that doesn’t have elite scoring at every position like OKC um but you know I think Tai’s got more scores around him and you know maybe the opportunity isn’t there for him to score 30 but also that’s not their system i I don’t I’ve don’t even I’ve lost track of what this conversation was this I’m I’m still piecing well James wants to give Tyrese a pass for a poor a terrible performance and I say if you’re a superstar you don’t get that pass you don’t get that pass lebron don’t get that pass he’s a superstar he don’t get that pass for that game he had that game he had uh against JJ Bar and and it that’s that’s my whole thing if he’s a superstar hold him to superstar standards last night was anemic five points on six like you said it wasn’t even like he was missing yeah neither of neither of the two games have been great um that’s what the the 17-footer at the end of game one kind of drowns out as Tai wasn’t very good in that game either u but he has an opportunity to be better when this series goes back to uh Indiana hammer I’ll I’ll ask you the question I I asked Kyle right uh excuse me that I asked um Kenny right when right right when you joined us um if if De’Arren and Tyrese both maximized who they are as a player who do you think is better i mean forever I would have told you De’aran but like one guy has his team in the NBA finals and the other guy just asked out of out of out of town um like again there there’s something we you we want to call it clutch but like I prefer to call Tai just straight up a winner and to me that is something that I think we’re seeing translate we saw it translate to a team that played way over their heads uh last season this season we’re seeing a team that is like realistically he is you want to call dear the head of the snake this dude is the head of the snake that team you know lives and dies with him and like it’s a little bit easy to take him away but that’s because we’re dealing with OKC who’s one of the best defensive teams we’ve ever seen right and at least since like you know the early 2000s or or 90s like this team is so good defensively they are going to be able to hurt him um but they would be able to hurt other players as well you know they against Minnesota sure like every game Anthony Edwards was able to get a bunch of points but he wasn’t able to impact winning at all you know and they took away every single other avenue for them to score and said “All right it’s fine if Ant beats us.” With Indiana they’ve got to take away one player his ability to set everybody up and so I I I don’t know uh I’m going to say that that Tyres Hallebertton has proven he’s a better player and you know that’s because he’s still playing and Dearan Fox has never made it past the first round and we can point fingers and place blame and all that stuff it’s not Dearan Fox’s fault that his GM um you know like right at the last second pulled out of a a trade that would lay in a Pascal Seakum in Sacramento but you know that’s it it it is what it is we we know what Tai can do anything that we do we’re talking about with De’Aran as far as winning is speculative at this point i mean just my opinion and I love De’Aran Fox i I think Kings were idiots for trading him so do you think do you think the Fox has maximized his potential as a as a basketball player no but I also don’t know that Darren will ever maximize his potential as a basketball player no we agree we agree there like we it may never happen but he asked that in a hypothetical world if they both maximize who they can be as basketball players who would be better um I don’t know i I mean I think it’s it’s going to be subjective on what it is that you think is what better means because like I know you lean towards scores and you know Tai’s never Tai’s never going to average 26 and a half points a game like De’ar did but De’aran also can’t average 11 assists a game it’s just not in him as a player so you know he can put up 11 assists in a game but to do that consistently and to give his teammates not just a pass but the right pass on time on target and in rhythm like Tai is one of the best in the business indeed he is and now the Sacramento Kings need to find a point guard because they don’t have either one of those guys anymore nope so that’s great they don’t even have Dave they have nobody so I’ll ask you this scoring point guard distributing point guard what should the Sacramento Kings lean towards in Scott Perry’s search this off season um I I think what you need is it’s kind of like the the small forward power forward version of you need long athletic defensiveminded point guard that can hit a three you know I I I really wish that Keon Ellis was like two years further advanced because I think in the right system in like a Denver Nuggets type system I think he can be a you know a lead guard who brings the ball up the court and stuff um but like I don’t know they they probably need a scoreer as well but that just depends if Demar’s still there it depends if Zack Lavine is still there i I think what they need to do is get the best point guard they can possibly get and I don’t think it really matters if he uh if he’s a score first or if he’s a pass first they just need somebody who understands a position and is top 15 we talked about it a little bit earlier uh in the show just trying to kind of you know pillar Oh hold on damn said one second hold on oh oh someone’s getting tra the point guard’s on his way james is getting a call the point guard is Who’s it going to be is it Fred Van Fleet is it Darius Garland who is it oh I can’t wait to find out when James comes back and tells us what point guard is on the way maybe it’s the starting four who could it be maybe John Collins is finally on his way maybe it’s Trey Young what news is James about to break now now now oh no oh James can’t talk it looked like I had it looked like he young I had a TV turn on out of nowhere and start playing loudly i’m like “Oh that’s loud.” Um I thought we had a new point guard here in Sacramento no I I like I soon hopefully yeah soon you know what like they need the best player possible and it again the point guard position is is it’s like the most important position in the NBA at this point and to go from not being able to fill the fall the small forward position for a while to now having the small forward position and the point guard position like wide open and no draft pick it’s just not a a great spot to be in i mean this is like wildly wildly like important to fill this position and that’s why I keep saying and I know Kyle says this all the time like you know draft picks be damned go get the right point guard right now like if you got to go overpay for Darius Garland or you know if you can somehow talk Philly into dealing Tyrese Maxi or you know like one of these these point guards that just stand out that are are really really really good then you got to do it it’s a situation you put yourself in when you traded your star point guard and so I fully expect the Kings to to be aggressive and and they have to attack the the position with you know with a mentality that they haven’t been able to attack anything for the last 5 years like this is a a major major point of not just need but like this is how you establish who you are as a team as your point guard position do they need to come out of this off seasonason with like a big name or like I guess are they going big game hunting this offseason because we talk about Trey LaMelo and those guys but is that what they’re looking for do we think yeah I mean I I think we’re going to hear a lot of like Drew Holiday talk um I I think we’re going to hear they they do need to I I guess it just depends Jesse on what you consider big game hunting you know like there’s a certain level of player that you need to add to this roster just to make them competitive in the Western Conference especially if you intend on using say a player like Demar De Rozan to get there you know we forget that you know while Demar De Rozan might not fit in Sacramento perfectly he still averaged 22 points a game and the Kings are going to need to figure out a way to replace that and if he’s not there um so yeah I don’t this is going to be a really weird summer because I don’t think that it’s going to play out like it has the last couple of years where everything is brought into the light all the time and and every player on the roster feels like they’re about to get traded any five you know any minute um but I do think that they’re going to be active and they’re they’re going to push the envelope on what feels comfortable and that’s a good thing i asked uh Matt George this last week when when he was on and I I want to get your thoughts on it hammer is is there any reason why the Kings should have Devin Carter Malik Monk and Keon Ellis all on the same team next year and what I mean further clarification is would you try to move package one of those guys to get a bigger star um D Rozan and Devin Carter so to speak just to get more salary get a bigger star in here because I think they’re a little redundant all three of those guys especially if they’re not even none of them are going to start for you yeah I mean that’s the biggest problem right the the biggest problem is you just named three guys and none of them are the starter at the shooting guard position that’s Zack Lavine and he plays 34 minutes a night 35 minutes a night so that’s a problem um if you’re going to move Zack to the small forward spot at least for a short stance uh play sort of a a small ball you know three guard lineup i I you can fit one or two of these guys in the lineup with them um I also think like as of today like it doesn’t matter how many times do or Scott Perry or Doug Chrissy talk about needing a point guard the only point guard the only guy who can play point guard on this roster right now is Malik Monk and if the season were to start today and this is your roster um that’s probably who I’m starting at the point guard position and you know trying to work through that u but I don’t know uh like I I do think they are redundant and and not only that they’re redundant at a position that you don’t need redundancy you know because the shooting guard position is one of the easier positions in the NBA to fill and the fact that they have so many of them is isn’t good roster design at all and that’s why you know drafting a a guard last year and trying to call him a point guard and Devin Carter that just was that was crazy i don’t understand what the what the idea behind that was unless it was to trade Devin Carter once you drafted him and then they didn’t do that and so you get stuck with a whole bunch of players because like you mentioned those guys hey I’d like to see Isaiah Crawford play you know like maybe he’s not a uh an NBA rotational player but 66 like 225 built like Lou Dort can jump out of the gym can hit what he hit 42% from three at the G-League level like that’s the type of guy the type of personality the defensive-minded specialist that every other team is sitting there cultivating and the Kings haven’t been able to um and whether he plays a two or the three you know that’s that’s a player that again that that they need to see what he is and who he can be and that’s where when you bring up the other guys it’s like you could easily move on from one of those guys that you know whether I I think Monk is probably the most difficult to replace um I think Keon is probably the most valuable because of the contract and his play style uh and then a young player who was just a 12th pick in the draft or 13th pick in the draft last season like they all have their pluses and minuses but it didn’t make a lot of sense to have all three of those guys and trade your star point guard for a for a star shooting guard yeah bad uh roster management there um but the Kings will work to dig themselves out of that hole and it feels like it starts and ends with Demar De Rozan um no one on earth I believe the entire planet is of the belief Demard Rosen will be wearing a Kings uniform uh next year it’s just a question of what do they what are they able to get in return for him are they going the point guard position or KC has this idea of maybe the Sacramento Kings should think about in addition to the point guard position obviously attacking the four spot and moving Keegan Murray up to the three what do you think where do you think uh Keegan Murray is best utilized on the floor for the Kings yeah in a perfect world I would want Keon I mean Keegan at the three like that’s a perfect world um but the modern NBA there’s so many players that bounce back and forth between the three and the four and the fact that Keegan has been able to play the three and the four uh and defend all the way up to the one is pretty impressive so I think it matters that you try to get uh a bigger player you know I’ve heard plenty of people around the Kings say even last year um you know you had Valenunis and and Sabonis at the center position but you didn’t have a single power forward outside of Trey Lyles that was like a true power forward that can go in and rebound that can go in and bloody people that can go in and and make a post move and you know Keegan can be that if you just want him to again strip away even more of his game and make him a defender and a post player uh his college numbers in the paint were unbelievable like 97th percentile in the NCAA inside the key uh the dude can score in the post but um that’s really not his game so I I think adding a power forward is even especially with Trey leaving most likely uh that would be one of the top things but I also think like finding more guys like Jake Larabia or or better than Jake Larabia um you know there’s a way in which Ke uh Keegan can be in a in a forward like a sharing you know switchable forward set that neither one of them are true power forwards or two small forwards they’re just two forwards and that would pretty much probably be what what the Kings hope to get to we’ll come back uh we’ll talk more with our insider from the insiders it’s our man James Ham here with D1 KC on Sacramento Sports Leader ESPN 1320 oh man how’s your weekend it was good we spent a little time on the boat on Saturday that was nice good the water’s been perfect up here and then because I know where you live um did your neighborhood just have one graduation party after another all weekend yes yeah yeah it was like we were in Rockland yesterday for a one graduation party that led to another graduation party and then just like they’re everywhere so yeah the signs and the the big graduate signs are outside every other house on the street it’s either Rocklin or Whitney oh yeah you’re Yeah you’re kind of right in the middle right mhm i’m not even trying go ahead James go ahead no go ahead no I’m not even trying to pile on because we talk about him a lot now but Saurin says “God Monty sucked.” And then he says “The roster is so unbalanced.” What do we think Monty’s final vision for this roster was like what was he trying to see through don’t answer that don’t answer that bring that to the Oh that’s a that’s a good one yeah slow down there Jesse Carowway yeah just like I said Monty like I don’t want to or do you prefer Kenny Tapia man uh Monty’s money’s vision i’ll ask you that when we get back that’s a good one yeah shout out Whitney we had a good time down there yesterday we’ve got a friend who her daughter goes to Whitney or did she graduated and our little dude’s going to be a senior man that’s crazy that is crazy yeah you probably haven’t seen about to be an empty neester no they ain’t they ain’t ever leaving my oldest is like I’ll move out but I’m going to wait until September i’m like why he’s like because I want to be out on the lake the whole summer fair enough smart kid smart kid smart kid is this second Forest Gump trailer real or is that a work no I think it’s a work i thought so too wait is the trailer about his kid uh I can’t remember i saw it a long time ago but it just showed up on uh the you like YouTube i thought I vaguely remember seeing something about like the movie following his son maybe that was fake or something but no Forest Gump 2 is not coming up it’s a fan-made trailer thankfully movies are classic some of these fan-made trailers are well done mhm mhm you’ve seen Force Gump right Ben yeah yep okay let me see they said there is rumors of a Forest Gump 2 with Timothy Chamlet oh lord as about the Knicks we’re coming back hammer back with James Ham of the Insiders 10 to 12 here along with Kyle Matson on ESPN 1320 uh great question from our man Sa in the chatty house during the commercial break had to actually hit pause on the conversation because we wanted to make sure we brought this one to the radio what we we’ve as Jesse pointed out uh we have piled on quite a bit rightfully so on Monty McNair but no one’s ever asked what was what do you think Monty’s vision was for this roster like if he had seen this through what do you think his vision was uh for this team well it sucks because what we have is the remnants of what’s left right so you’re sitting here trying to rewind what exactly happened here and how it got to where it is um but I I think like his like on his gravestone is going to be the guy who almost acquired this guy this guy that this guy and that guy you know the guy that almost acquired OG Anobi that almost acquired Kyle Kosma that almost acquired Cam Johnson that almost acquired uh John Collins that almost acquired Pascal Seakum like even Ben Simmons almost acquired Ben Simmons flew to Philadelphia to close a deal with Daryl Mo and never got the deal done so like look I I think we see the vision for what he was trying to do i forgot about that i completely forgot about Ben Simmons and him flying out there to see him i completely forgot about that one or Toronto having Messiah Yuiri here in Sacramento and them negotiating that day um I believe that was for C negotiations ended before we even got to the arena yeah yeah well they ended because the question I think that was posed was “Well will you sign here?” And uh to Seakkum and the answer was “Well what’s your offer?” And their offer was below what he thought he was worth and so the answer became “No I won’t sign there.” And again like that’s like the price of business in the NBA is really expensive you know we we uh Kyle brought up a Cleveland Cavaliers like mock trade today where the Kings would send out Sabonis and um and Devin Carter for Darius Garland and Jared Allen and like and then the Kings would have to give up two or three first round picks right and the question is whether that’s fair or not like that’s one question but then you know they’re always like who would say yes and who would say no and your initial thought was there’s no way that Cleveland’s going to trade two starters off a 64- win team and then you look and they’re at $218 million in dedicated salary for next season without with only 10 players so they’re not only second apron they’re like a massive massive luxury team and so if you were to do a deal like what Kyle had like proposed I don’t know you could save them upwards of 50 or $60 million between salary and luxury tax and so a team might do something like that right um anyway like I I think that there uh there are a lot of different ways to look at where this team is today and where it it should have gone and where it was heading and then the detours that took that took them to where they are today but all of them are stunning like nothing feels like it had to go this way at all and that to me is I think probably will what be listed along with all the players that he didn’t trade for it’s it the idea was there you saw it you heard it you heard all the trade rumors you heard all the players that they were interested in and all almost all of those were legitimate so you can kind of piece together what this team was supposed to look like or what it could have looked like but in the end you don’t get paid for what you could have done you get paid for what you did do sneaky tidbit right there by James Ham is the reason why Pascal wouldn’t resign that doesn’t make money look any better that might not have been a money call though either that could have been a VC thing like “Hey I don’t want to go into the tag for this guy.” But that’s like it could have happened in fairness I recall after Seakum signed the deal asking the question broadly and and I don’t I I I do not remember what your answer was just broadly asking on the show knowing what it costs to keep Pascal Seakkum are you comfortable now obviously this feels different because he’s playing yeah he’s playing basketball right now but asking the question knowing what Pascal Seakkum cost are you comfortable with the Kings passing on this or should they have made every effort to pay him exactly what he wanted and and just invested fully in this being the group most people said no i said no most people said no i said no i also and like I this is where I will define defend uh Monty McNair at that particular time i’m not I’m not including Keegan Murray in the trade and I’m of the belief that that’s what they were asking and that’s what it would have cost to get Pascal Seakum or OG and Obi maybe maybe they could have got it done another way you know Harrison Barnes and some other stuff but from everything we had heard they were asking for Keegan and at that point coming off that rookie season I wasn’t I wasn’t trying to trade Keegan Murray for for one of those two guys so uh I would have not had Seakum as well or at the very least not for that that price tag maybe I would have tried to trade some other things and work some other deals but uh maybe had a draft pick or something but if Keegan Murray was in the in the deal I wouldn’t have wanted to trade him either yeah I don’t believe that Keegan was in either of those deals it’s possible that he was because we never saw the full-fledged like the the final trade right but I do know that Malik Monk was brought into the trade at the last minute or at least Toronto tried to bring him into the trade at the last minute and again I believe the Kings were more interested in a combination of like Kevin Herder and um Harrison Barnes and multiple first round picks in exchange for Seakum and in exchange for um OG it was it was even less than that because OG was at like 18.6 6 million salary and so it was it was much like it was more picks or it was similar amount of picks but it wasn’t as many players of all of the deals we think he was close on which one should he have which one do you think he should have gone all out to execute i’m guessing it’s not Ben Simmons uh but there’s Seakkum obviously we we we think there’s OG there might be a few others that uh you’re a little more privy to than I am oh there it is the Kings landed their point guard james isn’t saying anything no Ball is on his way to Sacramento that’s why that’s why that’s why James looks so upset i I definitely um like if there was a deal that I think you know we always saw OG was like the perfect fit but OG typically can’t stay healthy um and and I also think like if you have OG and Anobi like De’aran Fox has to be the scorer that he is still keegan Murray would his points per game would still bump up like OG’s not a natural just scorer i think with hindsight we see just how good Seakum is and how that could have really worked and you know maybe it would have not worked the same alongside Sabonis but I don’t know like two really really good players so that’s the player I think that I would have gone and got uh at this point like with hindsight but again it’s just been so long you know i certainly wouldn’t have like I I think the one thing I’ve learned about o over the course of like the last what is it 13 years or 12 years with VC VC is willing to listen and can be talked into plenty of things and if it came down to like paying a luxury tax or or taking a big jump in salary like you you’ve got to be smart about your money on the on the back end of it but maybe that meant that you couldn’t have signed you know a guy like Trey Lyles or something maybe it meant that you know again you couldn’t go get a Jonas Valentunis at the trade deadline because of the $10 million in salary but I do think that there was a point where you easily could have fit Seakum into your into your salary structure it wouldn’t have been easy especially having three top tier players um but you could have done it and you would have just had to be really smart all the way around and you know the Kings just didn’t go down that road the question now becomes will there be any almost this off season I think Scott gets the job done kings almost landed dot dot dot dot dot let’s hope not yeah I’m certainly hoping that that that’s we don’t deal with the same exact uh you know sort of thinking this summer that that everything gets exposed everything’s out in the public and then they miss they miss out on this guy or that guy but I do think they’re going to be aggressive i think they’ve got a list of names of players that they they want to acquire and I’d also say this like look Keon Ellis or Keegan Murray or you know Devin Carter name that king um the new management is going to have an opinion of those players that is completely independent of what ownership or what previous management had for those same players and you know some of these guys that people love they’re probably not going to make the cut you know in the end they’re they’re going to be casualties of of a retool here by Scott Perry and his group and you know it does take talent to get talent in the NBA and that means that some of your favorite players whether it be Malik or whether it be Keon or Keegan they could be on a different roster next season uh or at the deadline or next the season after just because that’s that’s the game you got to constantly be building and manipulating your roster to to create something that that like strikes a chord with everybody and and find success and I’m sure there are a lot of people in Boston that were very very uncomfortable with the offseason they had two summers ago and then when it yielded a championship they stopped complaining but before that you know giving away a Marcus Smart giving away some of the players that they gave away that you know you thought were part of the core it’s never easy but that’s that’s a risk of basketball james do you just in your thought just reading the tea leaves do you think some of those players that they realistically have on their list the Scott Perry and and Doug Christie have on our list do you think there’s some some heavy hitters some some some guys on there that um are looked at as all stars or potential all-star players would hope so you know again I I don’t know you know if you can trade a guy like uh like Zack Lavine and I don’t think they’re going to trade a guy like De Manus Sabonis doesn’t mean they won’t you know there’s always a possibility that a deal comes up that just is too good or or makes too much sense for the franchise um but those are your allstars and when people want to trade one of their allstars they usually want one of yours in return you know and that’s even like the the idea that Kyle had with you know the Cavs trade like both Jared Allen and and Darius Garland have been allstars you know I wouldn’t consider them all-star players right now but they’re both really really good like fringe allars the Kings need more of those guys and I don’t know if you can acquire more of those guys without giving up one of yours and you know of course that would mean Sabonis or or Zack Lavine and you know again maybe again Demar De Rozan but Demar de Rozan I just put in like a different bucket of player at this point just because of his age and everything else uh Hammer uh maybe just end of last week there were some moves that your buddy over at the Kings Sean Cunningham was reporting on some additions to the front office staff some additions to Doug Christie staff uh any of those names uh from the report get your attention um anyone you’re fond of remember anything like that um yeah I mean I have the coaching staff in front of me at this point so we’ve got Mike Woodson we’ve got Bobby Jackson we’ve got Leandro Barbosa Chris Darnell uh they brought in um he is uh if I’m not mistaken was the G-League coach for the Cavs last season uh Mike Miller is uh and just so you know I broke some of these not not my friend Sean Cunningham but well I was actually I I was referencing Scott Leaden Greg Stranton some of the guys who are joining the department uh Gary well those guys left if if you broke those I apologize no no no i’m just I’m just messing with you so Mike uh Mike Miller is is a big name for the Kings uh like super seasoned um NBA veteran assistant coach not Mike Miller the player um that played for you know Orlando and Memphis and uh Miami and those teams um yeah the other guys uh like look um I I think Scott Perry wanted to switch up his scouting department which is why Scott Leaden and I can’t remember the other guy who have left um but uh the other guy had been around for a while um so those guys are gone and and they definitely have replaced them with two new like scouting directors uh and with most NBA teams you might have a West Coast scout you might have a East Coast scout and then you might have a European scout uh I think they’re still filling some of those roles and you know they did keep Phil Jabbor uh and Paul Johnson from the previous staff uh I think Paul Johnson is a guy who’s been a lot more like visible you’ve seen a lot of him phil Jabbor has been he’s he’s again scouts are more behind the scenes guys and uh so you don’t see like photos of those guys very often um but I think both of them are reasonable uh guys to have in the front office uh they fit the you know what’s going on here and sort of the build uh the Kings also hired a new director of um of analytics and I don’t know that name uh I’ll try to reach out and get that name but they also did hire a uh a director of analytics um so yeah they’re they’re busy you know BJ Armstrong is is not just a a guy who’s been around the league for you know three decades um but he’s also a guy that uh Scott Perry has a really good relationship with and trusts um he’s a guy who has all kinds of ties because of his uh his role the last decade as an agent and so you know that’s those are good ties to have around the league you know guys that are uh like wildly respected around the league and who have uh who bring something different to the table um I think the Kings already have somebody who does all of their um like their salary cap and stuff like that uh but again that’s a behind-the-scenes person that people don’t typically know james any thoughts on the the guys that came in for the pre-draft workouts they finally got to some guys that I think might be realistic targets and I’m looking at two guys in particular Tyresese Proctor the point guard out of Duke and R.J lewis the uh small forward I guess you would call him out of St john’s um I know I think RJ maybe Tyrese too talked to the media and everything did Did anything stick out with any of these guys that just came through for workouts though um I will say this I put out the tweet yesterday with those guys coming through Sacramento and Proctor has a lot of fans like there are a lot of people who jumped all over that yeah um I I think I think that would be a good if he falls to the Kings of 42 i know that’s where like Tenathon has him sort of listed uh the stats look good you know he’s a like a game manager point guard um you know I think he like 6’4 and a quarter without shoes 67 and a quarter wingspan so a good like plus three uh height to wingspan um shot the three ball well at the college level didn’t turn the ball over a ton at the college level um not like a super dynamic athlete i I think I looked up his vert and it was like a 30 and a half inch like standing vert and a 36 inch max vert um but definitely a dude who you know looks like he can handle himself uh and has come through a very good program where you know learning the game of basketball is is you know at a premium um but also he played a lot of shooting guard played a lot of offguard and I don’t think he’s a true point guard but I wouldn’t mind if the Kings were able to get him and have him be a backup point guard for the next year or two while they figure out who it is going to be their their you know starter and if you were going to say trade for Drew Holiday that would be a perfect guy to bring in and have him work behind Drew Holiday for you know two or three years and hope that he works into something better and develops why do you think Drew Drew Holidayiday is the perfect guy here um well I mean I don’t think he’s a perfect guy here because of his age and because of the salary that he’s owed i think it’s 104.4 million over the next three years and that’s a lot for a 35year-old um but I do appreciate Drew Holiday and all that he brings and I’ll say this like if you were going to tell me that you’re walking in the next season and your starting shooting guard is Zack Lavine I want a guy like Drew Holiday next to Zack Lavine i don’t love the fact that your your guards are over 30 and that’s not a good way to to build a sustainable winner um but uh there’s something I learned about the holidays and they’re just really good people you know like Justin was here in Sacramento um their their parents are great like those are good people they’re good human beings uh they’re smart uh they give back to the communi community uh in like an incredible way they’re also really they they change the culture in the locker room um in the same way that you know again like a Harrison Barnes changes the culture so if uh Drew Holiday was the guy I understand it i just know that you know you might be limiting whatever window that you have which I think is already kind of limited at this point and I would hope that if you were to do that it would you know you wouldn’t have two 35 year olds on your roster 35 36 year olds i mean I think Demard Rosen Drew Holiday and then you know a draft pick uh makes quite a bit of sense for everybody would you rather have Drew Holiday or Kristoff Bzingis oh no no doubt i’d rather have Drew Holiday yeah because um I I’ll say first of all Porzingis has never been able to stay healthy at all um secondly whatever I said about Drew Holiday uh you hear the absolute opposite about Porzingis like just just off the court and so um you know like I’m not saying he’s a horrible human being um but there like you got to remember it wasn’t that long ago that there was a New York situation and all that stuff with Porzingis i guess it was a long time ago now because he’s um you know he’s he’s not a young kid anymore uh but it was enough noise that made you feel uncomfortable and you know that and family stuff around and all that like they’re just really polar opposites about what you hear about what they mean to a franchise as much as anything james doesn’t want you bringing your baggage to Sacramento we got We got enough baggage of our own don’t Don’t pack yours and bring it here with us well that Go ahead sorry i was gonna say the other thing is like if True Holiday came here he would come here and work he He wouldn’t be like “Oh I’m in Sacramento.” Like I guess that means that I’ve got to just waste away the end of my career that’s not every player in the league i I think you know Drew Holiday could get to Sacramento get settled and start building something very quickly like I I think he would establish himself establish help establish a culture and all that stuff plus he plays wonderful defense even at an advanced age uh he can knock down a three-point shot even though it was a little shady this year and I I just think that he’s he’s a player that would fit alongside uh Zack Lavine in that scenario yes I’d rather have Drew than KP well you wouldn’t rather have Porzingis in any scenario would you not really i like Porzingis too but like can’t stay healthy and then this was just We don’t know if the man is alive well that’s what I was about to say literally the last thing we heard is “Yeah he can’t breathe.” This play guys that’s a problem like get him help well someone as a matter of fact will someone just check on him hey hey how’s the whole breathing thing you okay like do we help like something brother I just want you to be okay i don’t care if you play basketball anymore the fact that this is mysterious upper respiratory illness is a problem oh yeah let’s take Christoph’s Porzingis off of any trade discussions moving forward i’m with you okay no more no more Porzingis we’ll just focus that’s a done deal all right we’ll focus on Drew Holiday and uh whatever else might be out there for us uh James what do you guys got going on on the insiders tomorrow there’s no game tonight kyle doesn’t have to write about a draft or an NFL trade like what are we going to do we going to bring the Tyrese Dearan deate debate back we going to find more trade targets i think a lot of people are starting to lean on getting rid of Deontis i know James isn’t yeah I’m not uh I do think tomorrow we’ll spend a lot of time on uh trade ideas like I think I’ll bring a couple of trade ideas tomorrow um some of them will be older trade ideas that I’m just rehashing and some of them will be maybe something interesting that I I look around the league and say “Hey this might make some sense.” All right James was awfully active today but he won’t break any news here on the show with us so I guess who’s the new point guard we’ll just have to wait till tomorrow or whenever James decides to let us in on his little secrets uh James we appreciate you as always we’re going to head over to 1025 for those who want to join us uh if not make sure you join James Kyle Matson beginning at 10:00 a.m tomorrow here on Sacramento Sports Leader ESPN 1320 vamos I don’t know who’s playing tonight i didn’t want to say Padres’s even though I want them to win
