SURPRISING Celtics Trade Update… This has MAJOR implications

we have a surprising Celtics trade update to get into today as Brad Stevens is working those phones and trying to help the Celtics shed some salary but with one team getting into the mix revolving around one of those pieces what could that mean for the Boston Celtics plus we’ll dive in and looking at a new update from insider Michael A scott diving in on the other two bigs in Al Horford and Luke Cornet looking ahead of their future in free agency building this Boston Celtics team to really figure out who is going to be here in this front court going into next season we’re going to be diving in and exploring all of that and more on this episode of Celtics Digest i am Bruce and you guys have been absolutely fantastic showing your love and support on the channel letting us know your thoughts down below in the comment section on these videos for Patrick Nick and I and we really do appreciate what you guys have been contributing so let us know your thoughts on today’s video down below in the comment section on your takes revolving around this potential piece getting moved out for the Celtics and who they could get in return and then also revolving around these other two bigs that the Celtics are keeping an eye on in the free agency market without further ado though let’s dive in let’s get into this video at hand today make sure to grab that snack and let’s get into it as this is very interesting to really dive into and there’s many more updates revolving around the Celtics team as well that I failed to mention that we’ll definitely dive into as well revolving around the trade front and revolving around some more updates from Michael E.cardo but the first thing that I really want to dive into and explore with you guys today is something coming out of Jake Fischer’s new Substack with Mark Stein and this is relating to the Phoenix Suns a team that I also cover here on Digest Media but also in the NBA media space and the Suns have been doing their homework on Big Kristoff’s Porzingis as Jake Fischer has also heard that Phoenix has done some background work on Porzingis with Boston known to be exploring its trade options and down the roster sources say you can likewise add Phoenix to the list of teams that have been hoping to elbow its way into my Turner’s free agency this summer and one thing I can say to that regarding the Suns and they had that opportunity with DeAndre Aton when they could have traded for him but ultimately messed that up when they had him signing that offer sheet and then had to bring back DeAndre Aton but regardless of the fact of that diving back into the Christophs Porzingis thing this is kind kind of known between the Celtics right they could put a player like Christoph Porzingis out there on the market with them trying to set shed salary like we’ve mentioned in multiple videos in the past guys like Christophing Drew Holiday and Sam Hower kind of on that chopping block i do know the Celtics are taking calls on Jaylen Brown and guys like Derek White but ultimately I do not see them moving them even after this Desmond Bane trade because I genuinely do not see the Boston Celtics going out and trying to get this big lengthy haul for one of these guys and then a team actually going out and doing it i realistically don’t see it i see the Celtics keeping the score and keeping it intact but with one guy to really keep an eye on is Porzingis now for the Suns this kind of makes sense they obviously do need a center that’s been one of their main uh areas gray areas in their team roster building since trading DeAndre Eaton and they haven’t had a really solid center since and Porzingis could obviously bring that for this Suns team the one problem is with Porzingis obviously is his injury concerns here right and obviously for the Suns a team that dealt with injuries those last couple seasons that’s a little bit weary in my opinion if you are a Suns team trying to trade for a guy in Porzingis but on a one-year deal at $30 million if you feel like this can be your filler center for this season and potentially could even work a long-term extension with him on a cheaper end then this is the time to invest low and or to buy low and hopefully invest high in a guy in Christophs Poisoning to really turn it around with a guy in Deon Booker but ultimately when seeing a guy like Christophs Poisonus being involved in this what could the Celtics get back now the Suns obviously are rumored to be in Kevin Durant trades but I don’t see them doing a deal revolving around Kevin Durant and Christoph Porzingis unless they’re a third team and obviously Durant is going somewhere else maybe it’s a deal revolving around some of those smaller contracts in a Grayson Allen or Royce O’Neal but for the Celtics I don’t necessarily know if those are guys you really want to buy into maybe a Royce O’Neal as he can play that 3 and D wing role and can and can start as he showed with the Phoenix Suns last season so we could fo that role in for Jason Datam here for this season and then going into the next couple seasons is on a $10 million contract so it’s a little bit cheaper but a guy like Grayson Allen is basically what the Celtics have in Sam Hower with Sam Hower in my opinion being a better perimeter offender and also being on a cheaper contract so trading for a guy like Grayson Allen doesn’t make the most sense to me for the Boston Celtics maybe trading a guy for Royce O’Neal and or potentially getting involved in a Kevin Durant something else from a third or fourth team could be the way the that the Celtics get this done here but I want to know your thoughts do you guys think Porzingis would help out the Phoenix Suns obviously it is nice to see teams are interested in Porzingis we have heard the rumors of you know Sam Hower being easily be dumped in we have heard Drew Holiday had some connections to the Kings the Clippers and the Mavericks but with Porzingis there hasn’t been any solidary uh solidarity committed team so far so hearing Porzingis being kind of linked to Phoenix is definitely a good sign if you’re the Boston Celtics and trying to offload this contract and try to get something at least in return or maybe even get involved in that Kevin Durant mega deal but let’s dive into the other news revolving around this Celtics team as there’s a lot more going on with this squad and I ultimately think that all of this makes sense for the Boston Celtics so let’s dive into it and let’s explore these multiple updates here the first one that we’re going to be breaking down comes from uh Grant Absth but it it was reposted by GRD Green Runs Deep one of the biggest Boston Celtics super fans out there and he said that the Celtics Thunder and the Nets are reportedly among the teams looking to trade up in the draft boston has picks 28 and 32 and can be looking to combine those to move up now this is something that Patrick and I have discussed this is something that Patrick Nick MBA and I discussed over on our stream last week as well so if you missed that go check it out but it’s definitely something to consider with the Celtics team like we’ve mentioned multiple times with them being in the second apron and having to shed salary it would make sense for the Celtics to take two selections here to have two roster spots to kind of really fill in along guys like Baylor Sherman and Jordan Walsh to really ultimately bring out the competition for the Celtics to see who have these best young rookies or younger scale players can really make an impact for the Celtics secondary rotation next season but ultimately the Celtics could package some of those could package both those picks to move up if they do feel like a guy that they truly do want is slipping we did see them do this in reverse order trading back to get a guy like Jordan Walsh but in plenty of guys that we’ve talked about with the Boston Celtics maybe a Cedric Coward like Patrick’s talked about who they’ve worked out maybe it’s a guy like a Danny Wolf Maxim Ray Nod if they feel like one of those guys isn’t going to be available at their uh initial pick at pick 28 and they feel like by packing between pick 28 and pick 32 to move up to 22 or 24 can get that selection that they truly need then I sure um fit that B that Boston and Brad Stevens will make the right move to do so so that’s very interesting to hear regarding around that truly I’m 50/50 on that because I would like to have both players but to kind of fill in those roster spots for the Celtics they do desperately need it but this could be something key as well the Thunder have multiple picks the Nets have multiple picks they’re also kind of linking which makes sense we also did see this from the Michael Scott update as well but I did see it on a tweet from Jack Simone courtesy of how the Celtics and Hardwood Houdini letting us know that main Celtics head coach Tyler Lashbrook who was their head coach last season will be moving up and staying with the Celtics organization now going into the Boston Celtics we all heard about Phil Prey as well we did not make a video on this but Phil Prey someone who did play for the Celtics and a little bit of their gutter years is now going to be the main Celtics head coach so good things for a guy in Phil Pressie great things for a guy in Tyler Lashbrook who’s moving up in the ranks and who knows potentially could find himself sitting as one of those assistant coaches alongside Joe Misoula down those pipelines in a couple years similar in a Sam Cassell position but we’re going to dive in and look at the other updates regarding Michael A scott’s article talking about multiple things around the NBA but we’re going to be diving in and looking at the Phoenix Suns or not excuse me the Boston Celtics in today’s where we dive in and look at the Celtics looking to trim their books while being $22 million over the second apron and 34 over the first apron and 42 million over the luxury tax with the loss of franchise star Jason Tatum to a torn Achilles looking for center depth and monitoring centers Al Horford and Luke Cornet is definitely something to be considered horford who recently turned 39 has remained still an impactful player and Horford has remained a switchable defender on the perimeter as he’s averaged 8.8 points on 37% shooting from beyond the arc with 6.3 rebounds in just 27 minutes per game while splitting the starting and coming minutes and coming off the bench for the past two seasons predominantly highlevel playoff contenders are monitoring Al Horford to see if it potentially leave Boston with the spell with the Celtics expected to take a step back without the Tatum without Tatum next season and in a financial crunch regarding their salary books but that general sense around the league and those close to Horford is saying that he will continue to play next season and this is something that I’ve said here multiple times on this channel i did not see Al Worford retiring i don’t know why everybody on social media and in these comments section was saying he was going to last offseason he made it pretty clear that he had some run in him throughout this season in interviews with press people he made it known that he had still some run in him and he is one of Jason Tatum’s closest friends on the team we know how dynamic that relationship is between these guys and I don’t see Al Horford jumping ships similar to how he did in those Philly days he’s learned from his mistake he’s come back to Boston he’s older now i don’t see him doing that once again to go and push for a championship he’s already won that championship in Boston he doesn’t need another one to cement his legacy he stays in Boston for this season and comes back on a team relative relatively cheap contract i think for one or two seasons the Boston Celtics can still utilize Al Warford to some ability as a solid defender in the paint and like I said as a nice switchable outside scorer as a four slash5 i really like what Al Warford can truly bring and he’s one of those guys that if he’s not retiring if you’re the Boston Celtics you’re bringing him back regardless but the other player that we got to dive in and talk about as well is Luke Cornett as Luke Cornett among players who ran appeared in 50 or more regular season games cornette ranked fourth in net rating and eighth in true shooting percentage ninth in offensive rating and in offensive rebounding percentage and effective field goal percentage and a defensive rating so great stats from Luke Cornet after thoroughly outplaying his current contract of $2 million cornet is expected to earn a substantial pay raise and have a robust market this se this summer among various teams who have the non non-t taxpayer mid-level exception to spend and that’s where it gets weary when looking at a guy like Luke Cornet like we mentioned Nick made a video a little bit a couple days ago kind of talking about how it’s kind of not certain but basically that the writing is on the wall for Luke Cornet to leave unless the Celtics can shut enough salary once again it all depends on what the Celtics also get back in these trades right we do know that they’re gonna be looking to trade Drew Holidayiday looking to trade Christophs Borzingis and if they can get a center in return or someone that can fill in that role maybe it does mean the door is out on the way for a Luke Cornet or an Al Horford out here for the Boston Celtics and not returning because they already have enough bigs on this roster but we could see the Celtics as well not get a big in return and save that money so they can bring back both of these guys to really fill in and supplement that role for the Boston Celtics at that center position and that’s where I think you got to keep your eyes on with this team nothing is locked in stone yet brad Stevens is still working behind the scenes trying to get trying to figure out what’s going to be the best deals and what’s going to set this Boston Celtics up for the best success this season and we’re all going to see it unfold in a couple days weeks and it’s going to be absolutely brilliant so let me know your thoughts down below in the comment section like I said really really solid news regarding the Celtics potentially trading up in the draft hiring Tyer Lashbrook from the main Celtics into their coaching staff and promoting Phil Pressie to being the head coach of the main Celtics so congrats to him news revolving around the Suns having some interest in Porzingis potentially in a separate deal or in a three-team deal revolving around Kevin Durant and also we also had some news regarding around Al Horford most likely not retiring like I’ve said 90% of the time and staying in the NBA and Luke Cornet gaining a little bit of a robust market out there on the on out there in free agency so it may be difficult for the Celtics to bring him back once again thank you guys so much for tuning in showing your support hanging out here listening to this video i really do appreciate all the support you guys have been giving us on the channel once again and it’s really appreciated so thank you so much and I’ll catch you guys in the next one once again let me know your thoughts and peace out have a great rest of your day and go Celtics

  1. imagine if when al retires he can be some form of coaching staff for us if the opportunity arises?

  2. I think if AH wanted to retire he'd have announced it already.

The Suns/KP thing is good news. KD is probably going to a Texas team which means in a 3-team deal the Cs will likely get good young player[s] or pick 10 or 14. KP to Suns, KD to Rocs, and Jabari Smith a/o Tari Eason a/o pick 10, works for me. Probably more picks/players involved but if we are involved in the KD trade that is a gift from the hoop god.

  3. I see us running it back with the starting core after all the trade rumor smoke clears we’ll still have the {core7} of this team together.. I don’t think any major changes to this elite roster will quickly happen unless Brad can get another star player to pair with JB and it’s KD or Zion 🤔.?

  4. I think some team will offer more for white/brown than what Memphis got. If a team calls and says 5 firsts and a young player for either, you gotta do it
