talking top 25 prospects under 25 in Philly sports number 24 Justin Crawford Crawford combines great athleticism double plus speed potential elite outfield defense with above average bat speed to make an exciting prospect with the top of the order potential He needs to get stronger but he turned just 21 and there is still plenty of time If his ceiling ends up close to that of his dad Philly fans are going to be really happy about this prospect There has been some buzz about Crawford joining the bigs in recent weeks due to the struggles of Brandon Marsh On the field Crawford has not played since June 5th due to a quad injury Before being sidelined he was riding a six-game hitting streak at AAA Lehigh Valley During this stint he posted a strong 542 577 and 583 line with a double and seven stolen bases through 52 total games with Triple A this season Crawford has looked really comfortable holding up 349 416 and 448 line with 12 doubles three triples one home run and 23 stolen bases Diving deeper into Crawford’s numbers he’s hitting 313 against right-handers and an impressive 478 against lefties Crawford has also shown an ability to spoil off pitches until he can handle one He leads all of Triple A with 225 pitches fouled off He has also posted his third highest walk rate of his career at 10.4% making pitchers work every single at bat While he does not possess high power upside Crawford has consistently shown elite contact skills with speed upside He needs to work on his launch angle due to that lack of power especially in the majors Pitchers won’t be afraid to attack him head-on at the next level due to this I expect Crawford should be in the mix to reach the majors sometime during the second half of the season with a September callup as the most likely scenario as it will save a season of service time
