Indiana Pacers Postgame Media Availability at Oklahoma City Thunder (Game 5) | June 16, 2025
he’s not 100% it’s pretty clear um but I don’t think he’s going to miss the next game and you know we were concerned at halftime and u he insisted on playing and I thought I thought he made a lot of really good things happen in the second half but he’s he’s not he’s not 100% you know and there’s a lot of guys in this series that aren’t so um Hi Coach Leandro Sanp in Brazil uh seemed like Jaylen Williams attacked the rim a whole lot today and you guys weren’t able to stop him uh what can you do differently uh in game six to try and contain him get in front of him keep him from driving communicate better have help when necessary um you know in today’s game the drives to the rim you know most of them happen at the point of attack and we can do better we got nobody’s asking about turnovers we had 23 turnovers for 32 points i mean that’s the game so you know um we got to we got to do a heck of a lot better there second row middle dan Devine Yahoo Sports was going to ask you guys get it down to two on that Seakum three with about eight and a half minutes to go just what turned from there in terms of what happened they got a they got a second chance opportunity and scored um and then we had a we had an uncharacteristically bad turnover that turned into a dunk and um we called timeout came out um I think Miles got fouled got it back to five but then I don’t remember you know I just looked at part of that sequence to see what happened um didn’t make enough plays pretty clearly uh front row middle scott Agnes Fieldhouse Files can you take us back to that third quarter tj McConnell was such an engine to get things going there and get you back in the game and what did you like there and then secondly did you consider maybe coming back to him earlier there in the fourth quarter well he was great in the in the third put him in earlier than normal um he was very tired that’s why we got him out and I think there was a a play early in the fourth that um where it looked like fatigue had had set in there and then you know Tai was back in and then and then that group went on a good run there so yeah it’s always it’s always a consideration um but I haven’t gone through the entire game and completely analyzed the whole thing um so front row left Tim rick knowing it’s the NBA finals and guys are going to try to play unless they absolutely can’t what what does it say about Tai that he was willing to play 34 tonight kind of on one leg yeah I mean I got him out um early in toward the end of the first half for two or three minutes because you know it just he just wasn’t moving well was fatigue it was tired too um you know he got back in and and seemed okay and then halftime we talked about it I went through this whole thing already but um yeah I mean all these all these guys playing in this series on both sides I mean I think it’s pretty clear now that we’re you know going into the sixth game and you know all the attention and the crowd noise in both arenas everything um you know this is this is a lifetime opportunity and not many guys are going going to sit um you know even if they’re a little banged up you know if you’re injured that’s a different story you know um but we’ll we’ll evaluate evaluate everything with uh with Tyrese and you know see how he wakes up tomorrow yeah i mean yeah it’s unfortunate i think you know we even with the game that we had you know we we still put ourselves in a position at that point um we got to take care of that um rebounding or you know just those those 50/50 balls like just we got to we got to we got to come up come up with it um and and yeah like just that fast it kind of like went away from us but um I thought you know the fight was there we continue to fight no matter what um and we gave ourselves a chance until you know like we made some mistakes there third row on the right hi Pascal Lea from ESPN Brazil uh this game felt pretty similar to game one uh where you guys just hung around as you said and uh what do you feel like you guys weren’t able to do to get over the hump this time uh I mean yeah I think we we didn’t we didn’t make the necessary plays at you know at the right time you know again like we said there was like some rebounding or turnovers there and there that um they converted into buckets and and they made some tough shots like um tough shots after tough shots you know in those moments and we weren’t able to get anything really going offensively at that point second row Sam sam Am the Athletic uh Coach Carile just said that the turnovers were the game you know 23 uh how much of it was that defense doing what they do versus you guys just not being sharp enough uh I mean I think well I think it it starts with me i mean I got to I got to be better um especially in that first quarter like taking care of the ball and um I think it it just kind of sets like a a trend a little bit um with just the turnovers that we had in critical parts of the game but I got to be better with that um but I mean I also think that they do get away with a lot of you know like reaching and and you know like a they probably testament to the defense but I think they do get away with a lot i mean some of those turnovers I felt like yeah I did the fouls but I got to I got to be better like it’s it’s it’s not I can’t have that many turnovers and you know so especially in that first quarter first on the left Tim Pascal tim Reynolds with the AP uh everybody can see that Tyrese is playing through something with the leg what’s it say that he was able to be out there and try to cut out 34 minutes for Yeah no he’s a fighter um I mean I think um he’s been our rock you know all year and um you know he’s a big reason why we here um and and you know we know he’s you know again I don’t know exactly what’s wrong but I know he’s fighting and and and he’s going to give us everything he got um and we are 100% behind him and we support him and um and I think you know one thing he showed like is is resiliency like he showed that all year and um and I think that you know we can continue to count on him to to keep fighting and um and I admire that you know from him and and just cuz I know that you know it’s it’s hard um but so yeah we just got to you know we got a couple of days you know take care take care of our bodies you know rest well and um be ready for game six second row in the middle dan Dan Devine Yahoo Sports uh you guys get down pretty big at the end of the first half and then you have that major third quarter run tj McConnell really fueled it what did you see from TJ being able to get downhill in that third quarter yeah he was aggressive um that’s TJ um that that’s what he does and and I thought you know he he caught a good momentum just getting to his spots um playing the way that he does and that that really really helped us and and and put us in a position to even fight for this game and um so yeah there just just a big game from him uh I miss the NBA finals it’s the finals man uh I’ve worked my whole life to be here and I want to be out there to compete um you know help my teammates any way I can um you know I was not great tonight by any means but uh you know it’s not really a thought of mine to to to not play here you know if I if I can uh you know walk then then I want to play so um you know they understand that and uh you know is what it is and uh you know got to be ready to go for game six first on the right jamal how did you try to affect you even being limited how did you try to affect the game in the second half and then uh just you know you guys got it down to two in the third or fourth quarter there just what do you think got away from you after that yeah um you know just trying to keep pace in the game you know impact whatever in whatever way I can just you know trying to get P the ball in the right spots trying to get guys the ball in the right spots if I can um you know and then as far as what happened there I you know I got to really we got to watch film to to to see it you know uh we feel like we did a good job in the second half of you know putting pace in the game and um you know really getting out and running we thought we did a better job of that in the second half uh but we really got to cut down on those turnovers you know the turnovers are really killing us right now uh especially in that first half so uh we know we can be better there um you know got to be ready to go for game six first row Scott Agnes fieldhouse files tyrese uh first of all do you believe this is kind of a continuation of that injury you had at game two uh that we saw and then secondly what about those turnovers stood out what were they doing that made things awfully difficult um yeah I mean it’s the same same area you know uh so you know I I don’t know if it if they’re related but yeah it’s the same area um as far as uh you know the turnovers uh again that’s a thing you really got to watch film on you know I feel like um some of them were self-inflicted um you know obviously they’re a great defensive team they really swarm the ball but we got to do a better job to take care of the ball um you know all three of our losses uh in this series have have you know turnovers have been a big reason why so uh you know watch the film see if we can get better um we got to do a better job taking care of the ball you know if we want to have a chance in uh you know on game six third row on the right Mark uh Mark Spears ESPN the beginning of the whole finals you spoke on the history of the franchise um the generations of people ticketwise how it’s gone through families just the pride of the city with this team when you think about that going into a game like that knowing that this franchise has not won an NBA championship in its history does that bring motivation does that bring pressure combination of both do you even think about that um when you go home and you walk into that crowd yeah I mean um the thought is if you lose the season’s over you know so our backs are against the wall um you know we we uh take pride in in playing at home in front of our fans and our fans are amazing so you know we know they’re going to come out with a ton of energy you know in game six um you know so we’re going to have to be able to respond be better um and uh look forward to you know the challenge you know we got to take this a day at a time our backs are against the wall i I mean you got to look at game six like it’s a like it’s a game seven you know losing is uh you know if you lose your season’s over so you know we got to go in and and um you know take care of business just approach the game the right way see where we can get better in film and um you know be ready to compete have you felt the weight of the city um at all in their dreams of having this um yeah i I mean I think that our city our fans are you know as hungry for this as we are as players you know and and uh you know that’s a lot of fun you know competing and playing at the highest level is uh you know is a lot of fun you know we we have fun you know with this challenge and um you know nobody said this was going to be easy so you you know we got to be ready to go for game six first row middle just I guess kind of keeping going on this point you guys have talked a lot about all the comebacks you’ve had in this season not only in this playoffs but before that I mean how much does all that kind of give you guys muscle memory for a situation like this when you are facing elimination yeah I mean we’ve had our backs against the wall many times uh over the last two years um had to figure out different ways to win so um you know the way that this year has gone you know nobody said that this was going to be sweet you know um you know it’s it’s uh kind of poetic that we’re here you know and um you know we got to be ready to go for game six our backs are against the wall it’s a really tough team we’re going to go home and um you know have to get ready on a couple days and um you know there shouldn’t even be a conversation about game seven or anything like that like you know this is this is the game and so everybody’s got to be prepared and um starts with me and uh you know we all got to be better you know that’s just you know point blank period first on the right ty this is the first time I felt like I’ve seen you guys in this playoffs get sped up by defense did you feel that way and what in what ways do you fight that contributed to your turnovers yeah um it’s a good point i think uh we just we got to be better um you know got to I I honestly want to watch the film you know see where you know different different areas i feel like especially there in the fourth we had some really bad turnovers me myself personally um you know so uh we just got to do a better job of getting spaced you know getting downhill i think that’s the most important thing keeping pace in the game uh we really you know got after in that second half cut the lead down and they just made you know shot after shot and you know we didn’t make enough plays that that we needed to down the stretch so um you know watch the film see get better but 22 turnovers against a team like this is a recipe you know for disaster so um I think that should be the main area that we focus on going into you know the next game and obviously we can be better on you know many many um points on the court but I I I think taking care of the ball is our you know is our biggest thing last question in the middle Dan uh Dan Devanyahu Sports kind of along those lines as frustrating as this outcome is I think you know to have gotten down so big and come back what are the positives that you can take away from this as you go into game six um you know I think uh the fight is always going to be there from this group you know and uh we’ve shown that when our backs are against the wall um you know we have many different guys that can chip in and and uh you know we have shown that you know we’re always going to fight so you know going home there’s not a better opportunity than to fight you know on your home floor so um you know that’s that’s going to be a lot of fun it’s going to be a lot of fun um playing a you know a win or go home game in uh at our home you know that’s going to be it’s going to be a lot of fun i look forward to competing and um you know we’ll we’ll we’ll we’ll be ready to

That's what happens when you're so f*cking one dimensional in your offense. You're a great passer but the ball movement offense cannot be activated if you only know how to shoot threes. Bro's do not have the upper body strength to shoot mid range and finish at the rim against good defensive teams. I'm a Pacers fan and have been rooting for them to win it all but god damn, they've made the Conference Finals last year and there's not a single one in his camp that advised him to put on at least 10-15 pounds before the start of the season to be able to finish at the rim and also work on the middy.
I have full confidence that next season, whether they win it all or lose this Finals, if he can put on more weight and develop his middy, this team will be at least a 58 win team and mark my words they will go to the Finals again.😉
Coach I respect you and love the fact that your experienced, but this was a game that you should have shutdown Haliburton totally, and ride on the other guys who did tremendous job. This game I could sense that you wanted to rest him just like the way OKC was resting Shai, until the point where Hali got hurt and all. But credit to the Pacers players, they are doggs, they fight, because in the 4th you reduced the deficit to 8 or 6 points, but rushed passes, more turnovers than we can count. It looked like some players had not recovered from the game 4 loss, Siakam in particular and his turnovers were shocking. This was a game that Pacers got beat real bad by the OKC guys, and that's fine, it's just one game. Now bounce back, heal, and whoop them as well because Jaylen got to the basket and bullied everyone. All the best, go Pacers.
I think the Pacers can win game 6, they are really close to actually being 4-1 and being the champions already, so they should have the confidence to win the series.
pacers had more turnovers than a pizza oven defensively poor rebounding terrible.. nembhard last two games has been a all flop and tyrese haliburton the miracle kid wonder..4 points wont get you a W
On the out-take, we probably won’t win this championship, but we have the potential to win one in the future.
Take game 6 ! And win 7 !! I don’t see them loosing 3 in a Row !! 👍👏🏀🏆
That's excuse is other guys playing true hurr
I really want to support the pacers but at the same time i dont want to support the NBA…
Omg! Nembhard was a turnover machine!! Wow! I’m not a coach but maybe he should have been benched!!!
Omg! Nembhard was a turnover machine!! Wow! I’m not a coach but maybe he should have been benched!!!
So who is the real MVP, I expected Pascal to step up and get a win like the MVP that he is, despite Tyrese low points
This game was full of horrible officiating. Go back to when Obi had a wide open dunk and they called a foul on Bradley when Hartenstein just flopped. Dort flops, Caruso flops, SGA flops. Chet has moving screens all game. Our guys have resorted to trying to sell calls because they’ve got nothing more they can do at this point.
Despite all that, we still should have won this game. Not having TJ in the game for 7-8min left might have been the worst coaching decision I’ve ever seen. He had 18 points and got the game down to 2 for us in the 3rd. Put him in. Nembhard and Hali weren’t doing anything for us
Man pacers passing are so lazy like okc can see the pass coming and jumps. Pass faster or fake it but dont pass 10 times in half court calls they waiting to jump the pass. Pacers show them with their body motion then passes with some slow pass. I can see steal coming soon as they pass
Nesmith can’t defend shit. He can’t guard JDub, can’t guard SGA on switch, and can’t even guard Caruso. He’s been awful to watch in the defensive end. He lets the foul calls get in his head.
THAT GAME 4 WAS RIGGED SMH
Please, someone tell Rick Carlisle we are two games away from winning a fucking championship, so there is absolutely no fucking reason to bench Siakam and the players who are playing well There's no fucking excuse for it It’s always the same story.
In Game 5, we had the lead. Pascal had a great start to the fourth quarter he was playing the best defense and the best offense on the team so why was he benched for three or four minutes just giving OKC a chance to come back and to cold him and don't run any play for him when you put him back
Same thing in Game 6 we finally cut the lead down to four points with Pascal again playing elite defense and offense, alongside Mathurin and TJ So TF why were they benched and why were Nembhard and Toppin brought back in when they clearly weren’t getting it done?
We’re two games away. You ride the hot hands. That’s how you win championships
TJ needed to play in the 4th.
Pacing my depression this morning.
