Kevin Durant to the Spurs? San Antonio Pairing Wemby + KD? πŸ‘€

we learned over the weekend that KD wants the Heat the Rockets or the Spurs and then The Athletic on Monday night during the finals dropped the story saying specifically he most wants the San Antonio Spurs okay so ESPN also said over the weekend that the Suns are unexcited that’s the word Windhorse used unexited about the offers from the Heat the Rockets and the Spurs okay so that’s that’s that’s some facts another fact Sean Shirania added that Kevin Durant has no interest in the Minnesota Timberwolves and that and and the Timberwolves have been the team that’s been most heavily in pursuit for Kevin Durant the Athletic reported tonight that the T-Wolves don’t want to make a seismic change to the roster if Durant is not on board with the move team sources told them that it seems like Minnesota wants KD to want to go there it seems like Phoenix is hoping KD warms up to it so Minnesota would end up wanting to do the deal my impression from conversations I’ve had is the Suns would be ready to do that deal but KD is not and Minnesota is not without KD wanting to go there and so the window is open for some team out of nowhere to just make an offer the Suns find acceptable and they say yes even if Kevin Durant doesn’t want to go there but until then the Heat the Rockets and Spurs could have to step up at this point or the window is open for some random team to come out of nowhere and get a deal done where do you think he actually ends up pair Dan do you have a favorite situation should KD just suck it up and say “Yes I’ll play for a team that played in the Western Conference Finals in two consecutive years and I could be the final piece there.” Should he be just put on a happy face and be happy he’s going to a contender or should he get just get what he wants again what should he do kd’s the king of petty man i feel like he’s probably a little bit I think he’s probably a little pissed that Ant sent him home so I don’t know that he wants to team up with him right now and usually KD’s the first person to team up um I’m curious about what the Suns compensation would be because I would be asking for Nas Reed and I don’t know if they’re going to give him up even though he’s up for an extension um I feel like Gobear would probably be the the filler go bear um oh don’t be filler don’t Don’t go is better than filler better than filler he’s better than filler but do you do you think Go bear filler go to the full Go to the full screen look at this over my shoulder go to my full screen right here over my shoulder there he is oair over my shoulder rudy Oair right there but like but I’m if I’m Deon Booker and you’re you’re mortgaging your future you you’re committed to Phoenix you’re not going to be sold on oh yeah go bring me uh the defensive three time four time defensive player of the year um I don’t know if he gets excited by that so if I’m KD and I’m looking at and if I’m the Suns and I’m looking at the the whole landscape of who has what to offer I’m intrigued by what San Antonio has to offer and I want what Houston has to offer because they got picks and they got players and I think Devin Booker if if he’s helping have a part of this conversation of where to take this franchise I think the players that they could extract from those two teams specifically can actually make them at least compete i don’t know if they’re gonna really be you know maybe we’re talking playing team or bottom tiered you know Western Conference uh playoffs contender here but at least compete i don’t see where you’re gonna get that from the Heat i don’t want Tyler Hero or whatever andrew Wiggins that’s not the deal that I’m looking for give me I would ask for Stefon Castle if you don’t get him maybe you get Devin Bell Kell Johnson why would Jeremy Soan Why would the Spurs give up Castle he just wanted You just got to ask i’m not saying you’re gonna get him you gotta have That’s how you start the negotiation that That’s my thing why would the Spurs give him up i mean is he better than Kevin Durant no i get the future but if you’re trying to win now he’s in his second year upcoming and he is an incredibly talented young guard who it wasn’t a great class let’s be honest like it wasn’t like he was he was a he was a very good rookie but let’s not get into it like if I’m not giving them up for KD I’m just saying if I’m the Suns I would ask for it and if they say no then I’d be like “All right well I’m not walking away from here without Devin Bell Kell Johnson and Jeremy So like that that’s three players that and picks and picks and picks those are three players I can plug into my lineup right now and actually have a for a formidable team.” Um well one thing on that one thing on that is John Gamadoro I’ve mentioned him on the most recent podcast we did after game four I think it was where he reported that he doesn’t think the Spurs will get KD unless they give up Castle or number two so Gambo’s been on top of everything he’s been ahead of the curve on all this reporting about Durant and that would mean that the Rockets or the Wolves are giving up a good young player in the deal that would mean the the Tim Timber Tim Wolves could be giving up Rob Dillingham andor Terrence Shannon like even like a Leonard Miller somebody like that who’s had a really good two years in the league even though he hasn’t got much of a chance in the NBA it could mean that the Rockets are giving up not just Jaylen Green but maybe they’re open to giving up Reed Shepard it’s possible like the Rockets also have a ton of draft capital too a lot of highly valuable picks including the Suns first round picks so look if if that’s true if that’s what is on the table for 37year-old Kevin Durant with one year remaining on his contract then yeah maybe the Spurs would have to give up Castle and ultimately maybe they deem the price too high because it’d be too much in the now and not enough in the future and I’d be perfectly understanding of that i I think you could argue the Spurs never should have traded for Fox i understand why they did i think it was the right decision to trade for Fox he came at a low cost i’m just saying there’s an argument to be made that Dear Fox is like the 30th best player in the NBA he’s 35th best player in the NBA something along those lines and is not a clear-cut star for Victor who’s still not in his prime like the Spurs most need to be ready to build when Victor is 25 26 27 years old he just happens to be so special that they’re trying to also accelerate things a little bit now and I get it and they should get KD if the price is right but to me the price is not right if it means giving up Stfan Castle it is right if it means giving up Dear Fox but not Stfan Castle with a number two pick because you need to retain some future assets alongside Victor Wmanyama man you do not like Darren Fox i like I like Fox i like Fox this is coming from your Sacramento hate i think it’s carried over into your San Antonio um he got away from sack man we should be happy we should be This is good this is good things are moving the right direction um it’s no Sacramento hate it’s just honestly about about the state of their players that’s all um you said that um it’s Castle and or Castle or the second pick or or or that’s what Gambo had said i mean the second pick that’s worthy right i mean Dylan Har you’re either going to draft Dylan Harper or you’re gonna take a flyer on upside with like a Ace Bailey or BJ Edgecom or something like I I mean I would give up the number two pick for Durant no no no no 37 years old no no no no you can’t do it you can’t give up the number two pick for 37 a different tier really you can’t You can’t do it you can’t do it dylan Harper look I’ve been as critical of Dylan Harper as anybody in this pre-draft cycle i’ve knocked the jumper i’ve written a 2,000 3,000word article about how the Spurs should split up the core that doesn’t even exist yet like I’m I don’t think Castle Fox and Harper is the right way to build around Victor Womanyama with that said if Cooper Flag never reclassifies Dylan Harper is very clearly the number one pick in this draft class he is a great downhill attacker he’s 6’5 versatile defender a very good playmaker he’s able to create his own shot he lives at the free throw line get finishes at elite level he plays with pace that’s beyond his age i I I think Dylan Harper is going to be a really good player for a long time and maybe a truly great player if he becomes a reliable shooter in time and we’ll see if that happens that’s the big question with him he never has been a good shooter but I don’t think you can give that up for the Spurs for Kevin Durant unless you’re getting other young pieces back like if you’re giving up two but you’re also able to draft seventh then man maybe you you give up KD but I’m not just giving up two straight up in a in a Kevin Durant deal that’s that’s too much for me i’d rather give up Castle than give up Harper but I’m not giving up either of them oh I don’t know that I’d rather give up Castle for Harper but but I Yeah I don’t want to get it misconstrued i wouldn’t trade Durant straight up for number two it obviously there’d be other pieces involved in that um but I don’t think that Dylan Harper is a good fit for the Spurs just because like he needs the ball in his hands and if De’Arren Fox is there not gonna have your ball in your hands and Stefon Castle is also a capable ball handler so like I I struggle to see the fit there that’s why I feel like they would be more open to moving that if they could get a piece to accelerate that timeline like you suggested because they I don’t know that you have that like I feel like Wii is is pacing to be like a Giannis where I think he would be devoted loyal but you got to show me something that this is going somewhere and getting Darren Fox is the first step to that and you draft the the the rookie of the year and Stefon Castle things are going the right direction i don’t think I don’t think it’s a bad idea to put some fuel on that and get one of the best scorers of this generation and by the way he’s a guy that’s still very efficient doesn’t need the ball in his hands to create and score he raises their floor so to me I think it’s a it’s a decision that I think the Spurs seriously need to consider if they’re trying to actually win and appease not only their fan base but Victor Webbyama who’s could be one of the generational talents that we see ultimately I think of the teams that have all been publicly mentioned the Rockets and T-Wolves have the most incentive to make a significant offer for Katie and we’ll see how this all plays out in the coming days who knows it could happen in 20

Kevin Durant reportedly wants to be traded β€” but his preferred teams might not have the best offers. On this episode of The Kevin O’Connor Show, KOC and Dan Titus break down the latest KD trade rumors, including reports from ESPN, The Athletic, and Shams. They dive into why KD prefers the Spurs, Rockets, or Heat, why the Timberwolves may be out, and what players (like Stephon Castle, De’Aaron Fox, and Dylan Harper) could be involved in a deal.

  1. Suns asking for Castle is gonna get a hang up from the Spurs. The Spurs are not giving up Castle or #2 for 37 year old Durant.

  2. Who’s this other guy with some bone-headed takes? Pushing the Suns ask of Castle or #2 for 37yo KD is absurd. Keep him for the year then and get nothing. Dumba$$!

  3. Dan, with all due respect β€” we're talking about a 37-year-old Durant. The guy’s probably retiring in two years (and already smoking blunts rn on Santa Barbara's beach). Why would you give up Dylan Harper, a player who could be a No. 1 pick in other draft classes, for him? I'm a lifelong Spurs fan, born in 1991, and trust me: there’s no way the Spurs are giving up Castle or the No. 2 pick. Sure, they'd love to pair Wemby with his idol and have him learn KD’s habits to help unlock his full potential β€” but they’re not about to get irrational on the trade market. Durant is just the cherry on top. If the Suns are okay to get some Vassell & co plus picks, okay let's do it. Otherwise, meh, e'll think about other ways to continue our improvement.

  4. The only way they would pull the trigger is a 3rd team like the bulls or Vassel barns and 14…

No way they give up more than that. SA are risk adverse sn like to fleece other teams or be fair atleast in trades.

  5. Is KD to the Spurs back on? He is years past his prime and an injury away from retirement. Give 'em Vassell and Keldon (and Pick 14 if you must). But don't give up Barnes and don't extend KD more than $40mill/year. Spurs have other max extensions coming due soon.

  6. KD doesn't have to be The Man with the Spurs. All he needs to be is a scoring machine…a 3rd option behind Wemby and Fox. Everyone else will be hauling the water. A healthy Wemby-Sochan-KD-Castle-Fox lineup is a top 4 seed in WC and a title contender.

  7. Spurs won't be giving up Castle and/or Sochan for someone who is years past his prime and an injury away from retirement. I don't see the Spurs giving up anything more than Vassell and Keldon (and Pick 14 if you must).

  8. Fox's career is going to be resurrected with Wemby and Castle. It's too bad Pop bit the dust. Why do you think Fox and Harper need to play together? He is going to gain experience running the second unit for a couple years.

  9. I don't understand equating asking for casrle with asking for Dillingham or Sheppard. It really should be asking for Amen. Why would Castle be more expendable?

  10. Been some bad takes by KOC recently when it comes to the spurs and how they should handle the 2nd pick in the draft. The only thing I can I agree with him on is that Fox is the odd man out when it comes to the spurs timeline. Don't really understand this misconception they have saying Harper is not a good fit for the team long term. Did they miss the previous spurs dynasty built around a transcendent big man and two all nba level guards. It's like they completely forgot Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili won multiple championships together. Adding to that point neither Parker nor Ginobili were great three point shooters. They both excelled at getting to the rim and creating havoc on the defense. Castle and Harper have games similar to Parker and Ginobili in that they both excel at getting to the rim plus Wemby can actually shoot threes unlike Duncan. Wemby, Castle, and Harper are a perfect fit long term just need to continue to build out the roster. With that said, I would take Durant if I could get him for a package centered around Vassell.

  11. i feel sick to the core hearing their takes about trading castle and harper just because they are not all star this year.
