Could Noa Essengue Be the Rim Protector the Washington Wizards Need? | 2025 NBA Draft

another French forward uh Noah Essen Gay another young you know will be 18 on draft night and to start the NBA season i I will just profess right now I have watched almost no actual film of him so I don’t feel qualified to give like a really full deep dive the very few clips I watched I kind of don’t get it um so I would be curious to know Kevin how how you’re seeing uh him in the numbers so far so number one I do I I like him i’ve got him rated 11th overall okay and I don’t know where he’s mocked i don’t think he’s in the top 10 unless it’s it’s about actually that he is 11th on the the rookie scale consensus big board so okay so that’s cool so he played in a let me see a decent let me come across here yeah he played for M a team in Germany they’re Yeah the German BBL is a solid league um you know it’s it’s the level of like a good college team playing in a in a good strong conference um you know so things that I like 64% on twos uh 8.2 rebounds per 40 that’s solid some decent um offensive rebounding which is also pretty good decent steals for for a forward you know 1.7 steals per 40 and then if you want to talk about some things to be concerned about the assists are on the low side just about two per 40 and only 25% on threes so that would be I would say the the the overall concern i don’t have um you know the tools stuff i don’t think he did the combine he’s going to do the European combine yeah he’s going to do the Euro one i keep hearing he’s a crazy athlete and and that’s the thing I haven’t really seen so far like there’s a lot of oh he’s a 6 foot10 wing and he’s so mobile to me he just looks like a four yeah I would say wings have to shoot and he’s he’s not a good shooter so or at least he wasn’t this season right um and then I certainly would love to see you know what what the tools are physically um again he’s a guy I’d be very interested and willing to take he’s also young he’s only 18 and will be only 18 on draft day so you know like I say he’s he’s young he’s got I see a lot of things that I like i don’t think I would want to pick him sixth i think there’s other guys Yeah that I would rather pick there but if he’s sitting there at 18 yeah I’d pick him yeah that’d be fine with me uh you know depending on who’s there maybe there’s a guy like Moore or whatever but that range of the draft I don’t really care all that much who you want to take a swing on uh there’s been a I said I would say a slightly growing contingent of people proposing him with the sixth pick uh to me recently which that that’s the one where again I need to do like a deeper dive here still but I kind of like really this is the the sixth pick you guys want um so I haven’t seen that yet but makes me feel a little better that you’ve got you know him somewhere kind of in in between the range of of their picks uh anyone else that you want to talk about in this I would I would lobby strongly for this guy with the sixth pick range

Noa Essengue is one of the most promising defensive prospects in the 2025 NBA Draft, bringing size, length, and shot-blocking instincts from France. Kevin Broom and Matt Modderno break down what makes Essengue a potential rim protector and key piece for a rebuilding Wizards team. Could he be the defensive anchor Washington needs? Tune in for a full scouting report and fit analysis.

  1. Dude, you can't open the video by saying, you watched almost zero film on this player. That really makes me want to click back. How about you introduce your guest as someone who can explain this player to you, the viewer. Super Lame!
