Kevin Durant Will FINISH His Career With The Spurs

the future of kevin durant next year i see kevin durant in san antonio allow me to explain now as you might know kevin has blasted me for this opinion and i have repeatedly offered him the opportunity come on this show refute me which he’s afraid to try because he knows deep down i am right about all i’m about to repeat i believe he’s mentally psychologically and emotionally semi-retired when it comes to prioritizing goals he wants to continue to work hard on his craft as a shooter but he no longer has as his primary goal leading a team to a championship he was back-to-back finals mvp he led golden state to back-to-back championships on the court even though he really wasn’t much of an intangible leader for the warriors whose real leaders of course were steph and steve kerr and to some extent draymond green kd was no leader in brooklyn and and he’s been no leader in phoenix so it’s no coincidence his playoff record of 6 and3 over the last four years is the worst postseason winning percentage of any player over that time span the worst remember the celtics swept him in his nets in his last playoff series in brooklyn and then he and his new team the suns did manage to beat the westbrook led clippers who were mostly without kai and completely without paul george that was six games and once cp3 pulled his hamstring again kd and company lost to denver in six remember that then kd and company got swept by minnesota last year and fell three games short of the playin this season even though kd did play 62 games this past season this year’s suns went 36 and 46 what kevin durant will turn 37 in september but give him this kevin durant did average 276 and four this season what’s more he has averaged at least 25 points on 50% shooting and 40% on three-pointers in three straight seasons that’s the longest streak ever in the nba this season he did shoot an nba best on jumpers he was 49.7% on jump shots and on mid-range shots he shot 53.1% it’s extraordinary that was the best he also had the best shooting percentage on off the dribble jumpers that was 50.9% so bottom line he doesn’t really care much about playing defense like he used to he doesn’t have a burning desire to win championships like he used to but does this 7footer ever remain dedicated to a craft he has come as close to mastering as any player ever that craft is jumping that will still sell so now have gun will travel that’s a reference to a tv show that’s probably way before your time but kevin durant wants out of phoenix as he knows that there’s still a pretty robust market remaining for him out there yet when i first saw his wish list i immediately crossed off three teams new york knicks minnesota t-wolves houston those guys down there the rockets no way he wants to be viewed as the savior for any of those three teams viewed as on the verge of winning their conference now i know mark stein reported that the knicks just aren’t interested in kevin durant probably because they they just don’t have the cap flexibility or the trade assets to acquire and then sign him to a new two-year deal at i don’t know 50 60 million and maybe the knicks are smart enough in one capacity to see what i’m seeing in kevin durant semi-retired desire to win championships but i also say there is no way kevin durant wants to inflict the pressure and expectations of the new york media on himself as the difference maker as the game changer for the knicks as the best player on a team it’s close no way too smart for that he’s too ky if i can use a basketball term he already did new york he did brooklyn he did the nets now maybe he would consider miami just because he wouldn’t mind basing in south beach miami would be the perfect place to semi-retire wouldn’t it expectations probably wouldn’t be too high with the heat certainly nothing like with the knicks in new york city mecca basketball msg but the ideal last couple of seasons for kevin durant would be with the spurs with the spurs very credible team on the rise without an immediate expectation of championships in victor wimbeyama’s first two seasons the spurs were were shockingly no factor at all even though he was making an mvp case both times really and even though stefon castle was their second straight rookie of the year this past year 22 and 60 in wimy’s first year i kept saying why isn’t he impacting the scoreboard more 34 and 48 last year even though they they traded for de’aran fox and even though they had cp3 mentoring quarterbacking could have chris paul back again next season at age 40 they could have but even if they do trade for kd as i believe they will would anyone out there pick the san antonio spurs to win a loaded west this coming season this next season no way i mean think about it okc minnesota denver golden state houston dallas lakers clippers i think i just gave you the playoffs i mean would the spurs even be picked to make the playoffs even with kd next season seriously i asked you that question so this is the perfect semi-retirement spot for kevin durant semi-retired he can be a big brother to wimi and he can pretty quietly work on his craft in small market offraar san antonio with much of the focus on wimi with some of the focus on de’aran fox i mean kevin could sort of go along for a ride there for a couple of quiet nice pleasant peaceful years san anton i love san antonio great place to live and do the spurs ever have the assets to trade for kevin durant beginning this year with the number two overall pick and the number 14 pick in the first round would the seriously would the suns take this year’s 14th overall straight up for kevin i don’t know maybe they would the spurs also have a couple of more in draft they have a couple of more and then a couple more they just they’re loaded with picks this deal can easily get done so semi-retired kevin durant will be making historically efficient jump shots next season for the san antonio spurs you heard it here first tell me i’m wrong kevin Skip predicts that Kevin Durant, who has no more drive and refuses to be any team’s “savior”, will end up riding the coattails of Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio.

  1. Did skip forget that the Spurs this season won 14 more games than the previous year, even though Wemby only played half this season?

If wemby played all of this season, the Spurs easily would have won 40+ games

  2. People forget that the Suns Tribe owner screwed up the team. They are liars and jerks. So seeing a Tribe member getting screwed is sweet. All KD is going to be on the Spurs is a scoring machine. Everyone else will be hauling the water. A healthy Wemby-Sochan-KD-Castle-Fox lineup is a top 4 see in WC and a title contender.

  3. Ouch. Skip isn't shy about expressing his disdain for KD.

I don't think it's necessary KD to be a leader for the Spurs. I figure that Wembanyama learned plenty about being a leader from CP3 last season, besides which he can also get advice from David Robinson and Tim Duncan, as they still are around the team.

All I would need and expect from KD is for him to be an efficient scorer and to be a credible threat on offense, so as to make it risky for other teams to let the man guarding him double-team Wembanyama or Fox. That should be easy for KD.

Of course, it comes down to price. What players and picks the Spurs would have to trade to get him, and what contract terms KD would accept to sign an extension. I don't want the Spurs to become an apron team when they have to pay KD's last year and sign Wembanyama's max rookie extension. Some sort of front-loaded deal for KD might work, as long as it still gives San Antonio flexibility to make other moves.

The other factor that works in favor of the Spurs is that KD still has a loyal following in central Texas, from his UT days. There are plenty of KD fans in the area who would fill the seats, and having a local fan base from day one might make San Antonio be the most comfortable city for him to play in (other than perhaps Austin, lol). I think the Spurs were very smart to honor KD with a tribute when the Suns came to play them in Austin. It probably made him think, "Yeah, I could see myself playing for this team and these fans."

  4. This guy doesn’t understand context… yea, they traded for fox, then sat him after a few weeks to get him healthy for next year…. If you’re seriously asking if kd would help this roster get to the playoffs, then you didn’t watch them this year. They’d be in the playoffs if they could close games out better… and were healthy for a full year. We had Sochan go down for a while(when he was on an absolute tear), we had wemby and fox both sit out, we lost so many games with a margin of 10 and under, and that just comes with experience. People thinking the spurs have to be WIN NOW is a huge problem. We still hold insane draft capital, still got everyone on rookie/extension contracts. The teams is in an amazing position to compete, even make the play in/playoffs and still have lottery picks via hawks. Trust the process, kd or not.

  5. If Kevin Durant becomes a Spur his already phenomenal 3-point percentage will increase. He's had to carry a heavy load with other teams and won't have to do that with the Spurs.

  6. OF COURSE they're potentially a Playoff team if you add (a healthy) Durant. Spurs were a likely Play-IN team if Wemby had stayed healthy — they were finding their groove. Not saying they're a contender for the 3rd round, but make the playoffs? Yeah! But as a Spurs fan I'd still be totally opposed to giving up either #2 pick OR Castle for KD. It's gotta happen with some combo of #14 pick, Vassell, Johnson, Branham, or Sochan.

  7. What you have to say to Kevin doesn't matter. You are not gonna change his life at all. There's no reason for him to say anything to you.

  8. You're great Skip but Durant's camp literally tried to get with NYC but they don't want to do it.He said he wants to do Spurs but they have to be willing to offer a package that competes. I don't think Spurs will be willing to give up #2, Castle….and maybe not even Sohan. Video misses the actual point….Durant does not decide.
