every video and episode of the its cavalere podcast is made possible by my supporters over on patreon if you enjoy the show here today consider signing up you’ll get early access exclusive videos podcast member shoutouts and more and as always thank you for watching hey what’s going on guys a bit of news coming our way as it’s being reported that jawad williams will be joining the cleveland cavaliers coaching staff alongside kenny atinson for the upcoming 202526 season now this is pretty cool to me because if you don’t recall jawad williams actually played for the cleveland cavaliers it’s the only nba franchise that he actually suited up for in in a regular capacity appeared in over 90 games with the franchise from the 20089 season through the 20101 season some tumultuous times there at the end of the day but always nice to bring in a familiar face and if you weren’t aware jawad williams is actually a native of cleveland he attended st edward in lakewood ohio so he played high school ball in ohio and while he did not play collegiate ball in ohio playing at unc he did make his way back to cleveland via the cavaliers the only franchise to ever truly give him a shot now he also played a ton of overseas ball he played some ball in the d-league that’s right before it was the g- league and he eventually became a player development coach for the sacramento kings as recent as last season so it’s always cool to bring in a familiar face and the crazy thing about jawat williams is that he functioned as a small forward and a point guard at other times or one of the uh point forwards of that era and you know what that’s that’s insane to me to think cuz at 69 he kind of just he he’s built like a small forward now this does leave at least one additional opportunity for another coach to be brought in because as we know deari carol and jordan left to phoenix so it’ll be really really interesting to see what the cavaliers do to fill the other void but it is always awesome to bring in a familiar face and jawad williams certainly should be able to bring something to the table as he’s he’s a worldly guy at this point played all over the world he has now gotten experience at the nba coaching level and maybe this will be another branch on kenny atinson’s coaching tree after the next season and beyond we’ll have to see now it’s not a big or flashy names like some of the candidates that are currently on the market and hell who knows what some of these former head coaches will end up doing this season but it is always nice to bring in a former player what do you guys think was jawad williams the right man for the job i certainly think so i think that’s pretty awesome i’d love to hear what you have to say in the comments below go cavs
