hey what’s up everybody this is Charles Sansson welcome you guys to another episode of the Dreamers Pro Show where we cover everything from sports hot topics classic debates entertainment and we’ll the NBA finals so that’s usually the talk of the town but I came across some sound here uh just a few moments ago from sideline sources uh and it features something that was said today on ESPN First Take between a panel of Stephen A smith Marke Marcus Moore senior uh and Molly Kum right they were talking about the NBA finals they were talking about Tyrese Halleurn they also spoke about the news of Kevin Durant uh essentially the Knicks not being interested in bringing in Kevin Durant right so this clip that I came across actually um I don’t know the context in terms of what they were discussing before uh but basically what the clip says is Stephen A smith says NBA players have told him they are afraid they they would feel unsafe playing in Memphis and I’m like wait a minute what which part of the league is this cuz I didn’t know nothing about this right and obviously we know about the trade that just went down with Desmond Baines being sent to the Orlando Magic who used to play with the Memphis Grizzlies and I’m like wait a minute uh this is new information to me um I knew that Memphis had his issues in terms of crime and all of that but I didn’t know that NBA players were afraid uh and felt unsafe to to to play there i’m like “Okay so this would be something interesting to report here today.” But before we even get into his comments today’s video is brought to you to it and I’m going to come back and continue on the show take a listen to what was said here listen I know y’all got to go you going to tell folks why nobody wants to be in Memphis or you want me to do it oh no for for a player like me I just I just don’t think that the the the league like for guys like me I love to be in Memphis i embrace it but you got to identify those guys right and it’s not that simple especially a younger guy to identify that wants to be in Memphis i want to hear you say “Oh why why they don’t why why you think the pe the people the people in Memphis is a great sports town great fans great people but there’s an element there where cats like Jimmy Butler and others don’t feel it’s the safest environment i’m talking to the local authorities in Memphis you got to clean some of that stuff up because it’s dissuasive to NBA players they have talked about it i know they’ve told me.” All right excellent so you heard what they had to say okay let’s get into this topic here marcus Morris obviously and these guys said they would have no issue with it i think those guys from Philly i don’t know what part of Philly those guys are from a Philly also has some rough air everywhere has rough areas but so does Philly um so they said they would have no issue with it but apparently what I’m hearing is that some NBA players are petrified to play in Memphis over you know safety concerns what are my thoughts about this well I have a lot okay um as you know there are places everywhere in the world that’s unsafe if you look at the the United States there are a lot of beautiful places in the United States but they’re also very dangerous places in these same areas give you guys a perfect perfect example of this los Angeles los Angeles has very beautiful areas very safe areas like Brentwood Beverly Hills and all those other places but then they also got some pretty rough places that you need to pay attention to and we all know some of these areas you look at Miami miami is very beautiful but they got some parts of Miami that’s very very dangerous you look at uh New York very very beautiful state cool state they got the Memphis not the Memphis they got the Brooklyn Nets that play out there in Brooklyn i just recently went there for the first time right so it’s in Brooklyn it’s a metropolitan area but Brooklyn is still Brooklyn and son don’t mess around and end up in the wrong parts of Brooklyn why am I saying all of this i’m saying all of this to say that there are dangerous parts everywhere you go in the United States so to hear this and I went to look up some numbers uh about the city of Memphis in terms of crime at one point uh it says in 2014 Memphis was ranked 11 in violent crimes in major cities around the US in 2006 Memphis led the nation in a number of violent crimes so Memphis has a lot of issues uh you just put Memphis crime all kind of story crazy stories are coming up just within the last day or two so Memphis has had his issues but for me to hear that NBA players are afraid to play there i now have to think about okay how are you moving around right because I hate to bring it up and I’m not trying to be funny look at John john looked like he blended in perfectly to me john Morant look like he and Bro I ain’t never heard nobody meant Jama don’t want to stay in Memphis because it doesn’t save J just blended in but I’m bringing that up to say like how are you moving around right how are you moving around that you would feel unsafe because it goes back to my original thought everywhere has dangerous places I don’t care what state you’re in what country you’re in wherever you go there’s going to be good and safe places and there will also be bad places the only place I can think of a country that doesn’t have dangerous places is Monaco and the population of Monaco I mean the square footage of Mon who knows like is super small right but everywhere has his issues everywhere so it then makes me begin to believe these guys must be moving in a way that could put themselves in harm’s way because I I I don’t understand why it would be an issue to the point where you don’t even feel safe playing in that city because there people that live there right and to me I’m like if you’re playing in a particular city and you’re moving the right way and you’re not going to the rough areas and most importantly let’s not forget this one not making yourself a bloody target then I think you should be fine if you go around with a piece of meat hanging around your neck around a bunch of wolves they going they’re coming for that piece of meat what am I talking about if you’re driving around in all of these unsafe area areas and you running around with hundreds and thousands of jewelry on your neck bro you asking for it i’m sorry they will try you you are asking for it if you living a flashy life and you’re clubbing and there’s a reputation of you blowing money all over the town and d bro you making yourself a target you can also choose to live under the radar but for the po part that they are afraid to play in Memphis I think some of it may have to do with the places you go to right because there are people that are living in these places and they’re doing just fine not to discredit the crime and all of that i’m sure crime uh is an issue but you got to know how to move around bro you got And the And the craziest part is of this is this to me these guys earn millions of dollars so hiring highpowered security shouldn’t even be a problem but if you’re making yourself a target walking around with jewelry and all of that other stuff and letting people know that you got money and blah blah blah bro you asking for it bro you going to be somebody lunch they going to turn you into food bro they going to turn you into food and also the type of energy you move around with if you move around with this energy like I’m the illst gorilla in in the jungle they gonna test you oh yes they gonna test you but if you’re just like “Hey man I’m just out here minding my business man i’m not looking for no problems with nobody i’m just doing my thing son i’m not I’m cool i’m living my I’m living low-key or whatever.” Not to say you can’t have nice things but you understand how to move then you should be all right but if you on that other stuff don’t be surprised when it come to you these are my thoughts so the question to the audience is this are you guys surprised that NBA players are afraid to play in Memphis because of safety issues um does that surprise you in any way because to me I’m not discounting what’s going on in Memphis i’m sure Memphis has a lot of rugged areas but to hear that it would now make some of these guys shy away from the city is pretty pretty surprising to me let me know what you think in the comments catch you later peace

  1. This is stupid. Have we forgotten about some of the cities that several other NBA teams are in and what's going on there? This is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. The idea of players not wanting to go a some cities is crap. There are more 30 NBA teams. There are at most 5 cities that would be considered exciting cities. How much are players out in the city now? When was the last time you heard anyone who had played for the Grizzlies complain. We all know SAS is an undercover MAGA. He has something to say. about anything that involves black people in the majority. Memphis is like any other medium to large city. You just have to move right. He wss one of the people pushing the BS that Deion's kids weren't safe in Jackson after he left JSU, when they were there all the time. His daughter was constantly throwing parties there before she told her lies

  2. I stay and live in Memphis but you NEVER hear that GRIZZ players have been robbed or had their car stolen Stephen A all CAP!!

  3. My brother played for the grizzlies for two years, I lived with him there and we went everywhere did everything kicked it with a lot of different people never had any problems.

  4. I disagree with Stephen Smith whole hardly! I am deal directly with every NBA team Security that comes to Memphis and that is simply not true at all!

NBA teams, GM's, Players,, etc get full security by Hotel Security, Hotel Security Officers, and MPD every time they visit our great city.

Teams Security have stated to the hotel Security Directors that they rank Memphis within their top 5 cites that they visit and they haven't had any issues during my tenure at the hotel.

The work is being done by the city, MPD, FedEx Forum, and Hotel Security for sure to keep everybody safe!

I have been in this Security Director role for 3 years and we haven't had one issue and the hotel and FedEx Forum does get evaluated by the NBA Security Regional Director during the NBA season often!

If there was any issue you all would have heard about them and enhanced the truth like you all are doing right now!

Several of NBA teams Security detail do come back to Memphis during the off season to socialize, attend downtown events, special occasions, and even spend time with the hotel Security Director because of the faith and trust in the relationship that is being built by each NBA team Security , the city of Memphis , and the hotel Security Director.

Let's be careful with our words, because they do hurt especially when they are not true!

    Regards,

    Carl Bonner

  5. People in the comments down playing the violence….i live in memphis…robberies, carjackings, homicides, and so much more. Just look through just this months past news or the rest of the year. Mf just got popped running up on someone trying to jack theyre challenger at the gas station the other night. Hell last week someone carjacked the wreg news reporters vehicle. Yea if you broke and dont have shit its rare something may happen to you. Sayso p, sauce walkas rapper got dropped yds from the fedex forum in broad daylight. You got a nice whip or look like money you can be a victim. FBI director cash just said last month he wasnt aware that memphis had gotten so bad, that he is sending a task force here. Google the shit..all facts no lies. And detroit dont got shit on memphis. We #1 and have a way smaller population than the majority of the cities nationwide. Stop it. Its us killing us. And it will never change because the delusion that memphis doesnt have a problem….like blacks aint killing blacks

  6. Not suprised, but also think these young dudes live there lifes on social media and make themselves targets. Those of us born in the early 90s / 80s or earlier know what real life is. And we can adjust to any environment and navigate better. Your not safe anywhere, esp if ur worth millions.

  7. Lmfao that’s their culture. Blacks want to glamorize that lifestyle. But don’t want to play there😂😂. They should try visiting Sinaloa, Juarez or Tijuana! They wouldnt last an hour seeing headless bodies or bodies hanging from bridges! There’s level to ruthlessness! 😅
Edit: I don’t glamorize the lifestyle, seeing that shxt for so long makes you insensitive to certain things. I don’t bat an eye to crime

  8. he's pissed alot of people off with this crap, no player has never resigned or opted out of Memphis because of Memphis people outside of Pau gasol.

For him to say that hurt and pissed people off, Jimmy Butler said I don't want Memphis but yet never contested gangland Chicago. When will Espn fire this guy like they have so many of their analysts who have said things just like this on other topics and been terminated, I'm beginning to think he's treated special, can say anything he wants regardless of hurt or intent that anyone else gets fired over. He's said anti white crap, now's deep in politics which I'm sure is a breach of ESPN contract, will someone tell me what the truth is here or tell story of this guy so I can understand why:and how???? Is it money/ratings because noone gets more tgan Trump but gets arraigned, mock, slandered, protested, etc. Man, talk about hypocrisy, this guy proves their really is regardless of color.

  9. Yes Memphis is tough, no, innocent people arent gangs targets meaning most of the trouble is drug gang related like Chicago against each other. As far as regular Memphians, some of the best people youll ever meet, but are real and stand their ground basically meaning you cant bully them, theur set on their ways, dont like outdiders telling them how to live and will get down for theirs regardless. I happen to respect that, ride a city bus in Memphis and see, they are real as leather. And you mock that on your ivory towers? Yall some h o s

  10. Philly Chicago Atlanta Miami LA San Francisco has teams Stephen Ssa Smith isn’t a sports analyst he’s a shock jock paid to entertain, Ja Maront called him out on this out of pocket comment

  11. Oh I almost forgot Hollywood Steve h8tes small market cities that’s why he’s trying to get Giannis out of Milwaukee dudes a professional 🤡

  12. It is easy to speak on something that one doesn’t know. Dude (Smith) doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

  13. All I know is when I was in Memphis beautiful City but that Transition Hub for the buses such as Greyhound. It is the Worst Part of Town extremely Scary. I remember here in New York Times Square was one of the most DANGEROUS parts of Manhattan let alone Harlem back in the day.

  14. Hi Charles blessings please don't pay attention to LeBron and his usually bullshit , every NBA Finals he comes with his shit to make the narrative about him and off the finals and folks keep giving him energy Lebrinze is a perennial loser straight up!!

  15. Los Angeles, Miami, or NYC isn't nearly as dangerous as Memphis…
    It's not the 80s
Those cities are tame compared to Memphis now, it's one of the most dangerous in the world

  16. I think you missed the point on the this. It’s not the community danger that players are concerned about. This whole video is based on the dangers of bad neighborhoods and NBA players would not be there. It’s the corruption in law enforcement he was referring to.

  17. SAS is clearly starting a smear campaign against small market sports cities. I live in Philadelphia, and I guarantee you the worst parts of Philly are as bad as the worst parts of Memphis. But SAS is quiet about Philly, NY, Miami, LA, etc. The fact that he was playing solitaire during a finals game between two really good small market teams says all.

  18. there's crime everywhere, it just comes in different shapes and flavors depending on where you are..
