we have a massive Celtic trade update to go over today as it’s officially happening Reports have really started to pick up surrounding Chris Alzingis and his future in Boston We have one new report in particular that has fans fired up to break down exactly what that is and discuss what it means going forward as well as a few other updates Folks before we get into it all if you’re part of the as we’re on the road to the big goal of 10,000 subscribers Folks there’s a lot to go over today We’re going to be talking about a bunch of different things and obviously the NBA finals are about to conclude Thunder are absolute beasts All those things are true but also the Celtics now are really gearing up to make some moves ahead of the draft to clear up some of their cap space Of course could have the luxury tax all these different things And it just got real for Christopheringis leaving Boston You can see this report here from Evan Cidi The prevailing thought among league executives is that the Celtics will need to include draft capital in a trade to offload Kristoffs’s $30.7 million expiring contract Boston is very open to moving Porzingis as their top goal will be to dodge the second apron this off seasonason Obviously there’s been a lot of talks about Jaylen Brown There’s been talks about you know trading some guys like that I think the most likely outcome here is moving off of both Drew Holiday and Chris Porzingis But the unfortunate part now here for the Boston Celtics is that Christophs Porzingis according to reports you’re going to need to actually give up assets to draft capital to get rid of the contract And that’s of course because of his health and things like that And this is very interesting because it’s a pretty bad you know turn of events here for this team because at this point you know I’m not sure that Brad Stevens will necessarily want to give up a guy like Christopher Rosing if you have to give up assets for him Now of course you’re looking at it from the perspective of you know maybe this will promote a trade for Jaylen Brown to get under it without having to give up assets of course in the Christo Ring trade Maybe they hold on to Christopher Rozingis but regardless it’s taken a bit of a bad turn here in the sense of they have to you know get rid of a couple guys and they might actually have to give up draft capital in order to do that Now I do think there is a chance where they won’t have to do that There will be a team who needs a center can take a flyer I mean teams like the Lakers things like that The problem is a lot of these competitive teams that would be willing to take a flyer on a guy like Chris Rozingis don’t have the you know room They don’t have the salary cap room in order to do that With 30.7 million it’s not like it’s a cheap deal This is a hefty hefty contract but there’s been a few different reports and articles that have dropped linking a few teams to him Now Brooklyn Nets are probably the clearest one Um it’s you know because of the cap space they have in terms of clearing salary Presing us to the Nets is arguably the most seamless way for the Celtics to get under the luxury um second luxury tax apron this summer Brooklyn is the only team with a sizable amount of cap space being able to absorb the cap hit without having to give anything up However there would have to be a reason for the Nets to take on Porzingis in most trades Uh you know salary of course I mean there is picks involved and if you’re trading the Nets the Nets would be purely I mean the Celtics would have to obviously include an asset here right if you’re trading him to the Brooklyn Nets simply because the Nets don’t need to be competitive right now and they don’t really need a center Now they’re probably going to trade Nick Claxton So maybe they take on Christophs and a pick in order to open up room for Nick Claxton to you know to trade Nick Claxton So you have you know starting center spot and then you get his value up and trade him again at the deadline I think there’s enough um you know interest though you would assume around the league for them not to have to uh to give up Chris for and give up picks in that which isn’t ideal However it is what it is and I’m very curious to see what your guys’ thoughts are on this because of course the big conversation is who they’re going to trade Chrisops Drew Jaylen Brown I think Chris and Andrew Holidayiday are the number you know one and two options for Brad Stevens as it pertains to getting rid of a player Now on the flip side of that they’re also at a juncture where they don’t necessar like they can go different avenues about this They’re going to let Luke Cornet walk in theory Sam Hower guys like that Like they could keep Chris Alzingis but that $30.7 million expiring contract is an interesting one Now it’s also one that you could hold on to the trade deadline and then move but of course that doesn’t affect the luxury t tax and things like that But there’s also been some other teams linked to him like the Utah Jazz So either you know they would want to take on the salary or it would be interesting because in this deal you would have to have salary going both ways Maybe get a guy like Jordan Clarkson back John Collins who you know multiple teams have been linked to in the past And I mean you’re looking at Kristoff’s stats He’s still a very serviceable player He started like every single game that he’s played in for almost in majority of his career He’s only not started one game in his entire career He’s never played off of the bench He’s a starting center in this league Is he a starting center worth $31 million that’s up for debate But you can see this year still averaging 1.5 blocks 20 points a game Of course you know a handful of rebounds seven rebounds a game It’s it’d be a tough sell Of course you know the Celtics put themselves in the position They won the championship It is what it is I think we’re all happy about that But we had to the Celtics and Brad Stevens they have to make a decision now about who they’re going to get rid of And Chris is obviously the number one probably the number one priority because he has an expiring deal But at the same time like if I’m Brad Stevens I wouldn’t want to give up a ton of assets in especially only after acquiring him a couple years ago in order to give up a guy that is an expiring contract And again this is all it all turns back to the fact that they need to get under the second luxury tax apron There’s not a lot of teams out there who have $30.7 million that either they can eat an open salary or u you know give give out that way in order to make their team better Like I mean the Utah Jazz you know Jordan Clarkson John Collins a pairing of that could get pretty close to you know the money because Clarkson makes I believe $14 million and then John Collins makes 26.5 which is crazy Like then you’re kind of talking and you can work it out But it’s going to be interesting But there is some new reports that have dropped You see this here the Suns are exploring trade options involving the Christos Porzingis So the Suns are the number one option here I think at this point for Chris Sporzingis Now would this be in a three-team deal would this be in a Durant type deal i mean I covered on the channel I believe it was yesterday Like Durant is a very possible option for the Celtics though I don’t think it’s likely at all It’s you know it’s the very low percentile outcome here just given the fact that you know the the cap horrible spot that the Celtics are in However the Suns reportedly have explored the um Christophering sweep stakes So Kasa Celtics big man be traded to the Phoenix Suns Jake Fischer hints that such a move might be in the works with two teams reportedly talking about a trade for Latian center Per the Stein reporter Phoenix has done some background work on Chris Porzingis and Porzingis with Boston is known to be exploring trade options up and down the roster with both ball clubs currently well over the second apron incurring all the harsh team building penalties that bring with it a third team would need to be involved for this sort of deal to work But the Suns need big man depth and hope to remain competitive while reshaping their roster making Christois an interesting option with low risk as an expiring contract And that’s what I’ve been talking about you know when we’re talking about the Brooklyn Nets when we’re talking about the Utah Jazz those are teams that aren’t necessarily immediately you know competing right now for anything Whereas the Suns we know they’re going to be trading Kevin Durant at some point They want to remain competitive around Devin Booker and in theory I guess Bradley Beal But you know is a Booker Beal and Chrisops team good enough to win no But if they want to remain competitive and they can get Chris stopps for very very cheap if like not nothing because of course in most of these deals including the report from Evan Cury the Boston Celtics have to give up assets Now if the Suns want to take it on without having to give up assets then that would be good for the Celtics of course but it could make sense where you know it’s a three- team deal and because this interesting situation the Suns are in they want to take a flyer on a guy like Christophs and maybe help them win next year or at least win some games So they won’t you know necessarily need draft capital back and they’ll just kind of get rid of some of their players The Celtics will obviously take on some to you know make the salary work But then you’re at an interesting spot then because you’re not giving up any salary And I think that’s the biggest and most likely option right now is that the Celtics do trade into the Phoenix Suns Now whether that’s a part of a three-team deal in the KD deal whether that’s just a part of a you know one for I mean you couldn’t really do one for one probably need to have a third team involved in this because of both teams being over the second apron being in the sec second luxury tax threshold and being in that second luxury tax threshold is why the Celtics are in this you know spot in the first place trying to clear off some of these players Let me know down below what your thoughts are A lot of new reports are coming out here Things have taken an interesting turns surrounding the Boston Celtics and the end of the day it’s uh it’s a very interesting time to be a Celtics fan but we’ll keep you up to date with everything Celtics
