what is going on everyone welcome back to another edition of BKMY Hoops if you are new to the channel I’m your host as always Rasheed White all right let’s get into it over here you guys see the graphics you actually see the title can a backcourt of Cam Thomas and Jeremiah Fierce really electrify the Brooklyn Nets um make the team much more interesting to watch make the team much more interesting to talk about uh we’re going to actually dive into it there’s a couple of guys out there that doesn’t really believe that this can actually work um maybe it actually could but let’s get into the actual article here man so we’re not going to try to be too long tonight man um it’s been a minute since I actually been on so I doubt that people will actually really um shouldn’t be that many people here today which is good for me all right so it says um it talks about um about Jeremiah Fears over here and can this back court actually really truly work together and the Brooklyn Netcast over here is saying a Jeremiah fears and Cam Thomas backcourt does not work if their plan is to draft Jeremiah fears it must mean they are clearly not investing long-term into Cam Thomas so if the Nets select a player who doesn’t need to score in isolation to be effective like Canipple or Kaspar Kasparis then Thomas can continue to thrive in Brooklyn next to his lottery pick however picking a score first point guard in the draft means the Nets need to decide who they want to have the balls in his hands Thomas or the number eight pick so yeah I mean right now is is going to actually be Thomas right we seen him really kind of improve on his decision making um like we don’t know what Jeremiah Fears is actually really going to be man so um you know and we’re going to get into into the whole scouting report um so let me start from the top of the actual article over here man it says players projected in Brooklyn’s range included Jeremiah Fierce Trey Johnson Kenipo these prospects certainly have the potential to lead the franchise into the future well again potential is the key word over here man potential potential so we don’t know man um we seen guys like uh well actually we’ve seen number one picks number two picks you know not really pan out they they actually turned out to be bust but then we can see picks at the number you know 12 or you know 10 eight you know turn out to actually be really good players man all right so it says the reasons Brooklyn faces a a potential dilemma is because who is projected in that pick range it creates a crossroads for the Nets centered around Cam Thomas their star scorer as much as Thomas has been elite for the Brooklyn Nets over the last two seasons putting up incredible scoring numbers the team has the team has stayed stagnant the Nets have suffered seasons in which they aren’t uh uh uh in which they aren’t at the very bottom of the NBA but rather just go outside the playing tournament just sitting in the mid lottery well we can’t put that all on Cam Thomas man i mean uh there there’s a lot of deficiencies on like in terms of offense and defense that’s really on a roster man like you look at Nick Clark Nick Claxton sorry um I mean he he he he has like serious serious defensive limitations right and offensive limitations and he can’t shoot and he causes like a lot of spacing issues so um that will definitely like impact like Cam Thomas’s efficiency right there all right so all right let’s get back into this over here all right so the fact of the matter that is that although the roster isn’t great Thomas doesn’t impact winning with his style of play he puts up incredible surface level scoring numbers on uh subpar efficiency while his playmaking and defense still lacks for him to be considered among the league’s best and I’ve actually mentioned this i I said this before um when you actually look at all the other two guards around the NBA especially like let’s say combo guards because a lot of these two guards really do average like four and a half to 5.5 assists per game um if I was to take Cam Thomas and put him on Minnesota right now uh well he’s going to have to come off the bench but if I take uh if I take um K Cahan and put him on Minnesota with with Anthony Edwards we could have a serious serious three-hour debate four-hour debate on who offense is actually going to be ran through and who’s actually really really the best player right there man um but like I said we haven’t really seen a large sample size of Cam Thomas and I’mma put that all on Shawn Marx and and those uh previous coaches for not really allowing him to really develop you know I don’t want to hear the fact that oh there was KD and Kyrie on the team because like you know those those guys were veterans at the time and you can always um like put like like like you know have a player like Cam Thomas come in and really kind of give you some minutes and give you some scoring and take some pressure you know off those guys so they don’t really have to carry um and I already went into this already so the Brooklyn Netcast they don’t feel that this back court is not going to work um so we’re going to get into the actual um scouting reports over here on uh Jeremiah Fierce because I don’t know man could he actually really get better let’s get into this over here one second hold on let me just All right here we go right here all right so Jeremiah fears they NBA draft net projects to h have him drafted at number five and to the Utah Jazz and so we already know what the strengths are his NBA comparisons is John Wall or Doc Rivers i never seen Doc Rivers really play i seen some highlights but I never really watched Doc you know uh Doc Rivers play so yeah so basically he’s like a score first point guard um and that’s something that has to change like on the NBA level because if he if he’s just going to go out there and just look to score and I mean his his his game is going to really become too predictable you know so um so again so it seems like yeah solid pick and roll uh operator but let’s get into the actual weaknesses cuz we know what his strengths are and they have him measured at 6’4 but at the NBA combine it seems like without the sneakers he’s 6’2 barefoot right 179 lbs and his three-point shooting I think what I read was at let me see something 25% 28% now there’s no guarantee that Jeremiah Fears cuz look at Ben Simmons we look at other guys like um uh what’s his name um Dennis Smith Jr right i mean those guys never really worked on their three-point shot russell Westbrook so I rather like the Nets really kind of get somebody in here that can actually shoot it’s more of a guarantee but it’s yeah 28.4% on three-point shooters and that’s not you know that’s not good um it says shooting shooting shot mechanics are sound but he can be streaky from deep needs to grow uh uh uh needs to show greater consistency from a three-point especially off the dribble to um and that’s going to take time you know he can get he can get better than that but again we just don’t know if these guys are going to get better you know it’s a it’s a serious gamble all right so um he says at times can settle for contested mid-range shots instead of working for better looks or drawing contact and that’s going to be hard for him to really do because of his size 6’2 179 pounds man i mean you have guys like like uh the like a lot of your um like Jaylen Brown um uh Bam out of bio like you know a lot of these guys can move laterally man and it’s going to be hard for him like I was showing the la in the last stream for him to like really kind of get that bump you know and and create separation and to and to really get a good high percentage shot off so that’s another thing he has to get stronger um it says has a tendency to dribble into traffic and where was it hold on where was I okay and force tough looks when help defenses collapse um yeah that’s that’s see that’s that’s another thing right there man um it’s just like IQwise is like h solid vision and passing skills but does not create offense for others at the same level that he actually looks to score so you he you definitely want to really kind of find that balance right because at the the defense knows you’re going to really score is this going to be easy for them to keen in on you if you look to pass more um like defenses to start playing for the pass and then you can actually go look to actually score it’s really going to help him um but again we’ll see um okay and then he says should develop into a better spotup shooter in order to become a more effective floor spacer uh defensively he has potential but can lose focus off the ball and must continue improving his screen navigation and uh staying disciplined and rotations so the good thing over here says is um is is is he’s actually described as a gym rat so that’s good i mean he’s actually constantly looking to work on his game um and again so it says over here he’s measured at 6’2 250 lbs 179 um let me see what it says about his vertical uh 32 no step vertical and 30 all right i mean um the good thing about him is that let me see do they got any highlights over of him over here they usually do um but it looks like the other the other kid over here let me see trey not Trey Trey Johnson um this is actually a Cam Thomas replacement and that’s who they actually compare him to so he’s actually taller than Cam Thomas 66 190 lbs um he was you know in terms of being a an a willing passer at this level it was just better than what what Cam Thomas is actually doing uh more athletic so um Oh yeah let me get the link in for you guys over here man let me see what you guys are saying i haven’t I haven’t spoken yeah well at least at least the exact same player he was when he came when he got drafted well he’s small too though man you know like you you get him in a half court set man like it’s I mean he’s great on the fast break but you start putting him in a half court set and you got these long trees in there um I mean yeah you know his roster after that trade bro i’m not going to lie well Contavius Clawwell Pope does play defense man he guards you sure about that yeah man well well he probably wasn’t he’s not he’s washed up bro that’s not helping him at all he ain’t played no defense on the Magic how is he going to help yeah yeah i don’t know if they lie he lost his three ball i don’t know what happened to his three ball yeah yeah i don’t know maybe i like I like the Magic bro the Magic got better yeah oh they did they did man cuz we were I was on the locker room show last night and uh we were talking about how the East is actually really wide open but now um this changes a lot of cuz Boston is looking to break up their team i don’t you know uh because of you know this whole second second apron thing but um I’m not moving off of Jaylen Brown or or Jason Tatum yeah I know i know i know everyone else can go but I’m not moving off them two he says those stats are deflated coming off uh his hammy BK well you mean Cam Thomas um Oh yeah cam Thomas with the hamstring injury it was a 26 game 46 but you talking about you’re talking about scoring though no with the the article oh this this actually Let me show you who talking about i think he’s talking about Yeah let me show you this article so the Brooklyn Netcast was actually saying that um Yeah when did Cam Cam Cam get hurt cam got hurt at like beginning part of the season I think yeah yeah so Cam Thomas over here they Brooklyn Netcast over here saying that um a Jeremiah Fears and Cam Thomas backcourt does not work um if their plan is to draft Jeremiah fears it must mean they are clearly not investing long-term into Cam Thomas but Dwabi typically you don’t see players like Cam actually like become like three and D type guys or like three three and guard three and D guard type guys like Yeah i mean see my thing my thing with Camp Thomas is really more the defensive end of things though so like he’s I just want him at least a I just want him to at least be a better like a defensive player i don’t think he can though man i just don’t think he has a gen like it’s not in his genetics man he doesn’t have the the the foot speed like the fast twitch muscles the because the wobbie there’s other things you have to do in basketball to be scoring like than just scoring you have to when you want to be successful in the league you don’t you got to do more stuff than scoring bro yeah and if you playoff these players bro they got more things to them in their game than scoring yeah no before you got before you came on I was mentioning how a lot of the shooting guards have average like about 5.5 assists if you look at a guy like Jaylen Williams off the OKC Thunder um he averages almost 5.5 assists a game you know and then you look at the explosiveness his ability to finish explode through contact um like Cam Thomas doesn’t really give you that you know but I would What do you think about Cam Thomas at point guard i’d rather put him at point guard right now um no horrible i’m not putting him at point guard you cannot play the point guard we’ve seen him play point guard a couple times it’s horrible no but I mean his his his uh playmaking has gotten better man i mean not enough to play the point guard spot nah I don’t want I don’t want him at the point guard i I don’t want him at the point guard at all yeah i guess yeah he has to do that’s the thing is the defense right are you looking at Well you’re looking at more for like offensively or defensively um or both defensively because I I think if he plays the point guard then he’s going to be his scoring is going to have to go down a little bit because he’s going to have to play the point guard role he’s going to have to be playmaking and stuff so if he plays I don’t know bro i just don’t like I don’t like because he has he has enough he has enough like uh status in the league to have like a scout and report like really kind of be generated on him like so if you get like a guy like Jeremiah fears you know especially like in the regular season they’re going to really like care about him that much in terms of like scouting him but like Cam Thomas you already know like he can score in isolation so you probably got to run like probably a second defender on him depending on the matchup and it’s also like switches you can get him involved in like if you can get like a bigger slower like center or power forward get switched on to him you know maybe that’ll actually start creating a secondary defender when he gets those um you know those those uh isolations right there but I I don’t know he said Kyrie first of all Kyrie and Jamal Murray are better defenders than Cam Thomas and they’re better playmakers that’s number one and Kyrie and them dudes is better than Cam Thomas in the pick and roll yeah that’s true yeah I mean Kyrie can even like when he was a rookie like Kyrie can actually run the P&R you know like when he was in his first second year you know it’s like it’s like Cam how tall is Cam cam is like 63 i mean 62 so Drock I mean I don’t know i don’t know what happened i gota get I got to find him um but Drock said he stood next to Cam Thomas and Cam Thomas was really more like 61 well however tall he is 6’1 he he his frame says he’s a point guard but his skills is not point guard like it’s not point guard ready yeah yeah and if he struggles with shooting shooting guards guarding shooting guards he’s going to struggle even more with guarding point guards yeah yeah and that’s the thing with Cam Thomas especially like on the defensive end like you got to look at the foot speed in terms of like running guys off the three-point line man because we’ve seen like you know teams like go hot like get hot from three and the and the game could be over like in the second quarter man you know I’ve been I’ve been seeing a lot of Nets fans saying the Jeremiah Fears and Cam Thomas back court won’t work i don’t know i think it could h That’s what I’m saying i think it could yeah yeah yeah but I see a lot of Nets fans I see a lot of Nets fans saying it won’t work because of Cam Thomas really yeah but I mean Cam Thomas is a more Well am I wrong why why do they not i don’t know i mean because if you look at Jeremiah Fierce they have him without shoes on um where was it over here 6’2 well I don’t think it was defensively yeah i mean yeah it it’s I guess even when like Jeremiah Fear is at 180 lbs or 179 pounds that’s like te that’s like teetering around like Dennis Shuda right there in terms of his weight i mean like Dennis Shooter is like a little bit lighter than that 165 pounds but um like guys like Jaylen Brown Donovan Mitchell um Tatum you know they always hunt like certain matchups like that so I don’t know man um you know I guess for now I mean the Nets is putting themsel they put themselves in this position right where they just don’t really have much of a choice man oh I don’t know what type of All right let me see what the what the Twitter replies are let me see i think I think I have it right here hold on let me see something here let’s see well that’s not true when you was when Kyrie was playing with Luca he was more of a pass first type of guy he wasn’t If you actually saw him play with Luca he was actually pass first oh I got a signing ah all right i got All right let me see i mean no i mean he’s I mean yeah Kyrie is not the greatest defender but he’s a he I’m not going to say I’m not going to say this bro i’m going to say this he’s a willing defender i’m going to say that no Kyrie is a willing defender he is man and that’s a good that’s a good thing to do that’s what that’s what we saying with Cam he has to be a willing defender and he’s really not half the time he don’t look to play defense yeah he he does try like he’ll he’ll get a little physical like you saw what he did to Steph bro he’s not doing that every game who’s that kyrie uh Cam Thomas oh no no no no no no no no no he might have a few games here and there where he might try to play defense but it’s not good it’s still bad all right so this this article was actually saying that um knock the can bro it’s just he’s not what y’all think he is like y saying he’s like what what do Dame Lillard i’m just nameing the East Guards jaylen Brunson uh Garland yeah garland yeah yeah tyler Herro hero some people Some people actually really think uh that Cam Thomas is better than Tyler Herro tyler Herro though man but no Tyler Herro had a he had I this probably was this probably was like his best season yeah and you look at the assist numbers 5.5 assists 5.5 rebounds those went up from like Yeah two three to like five like Yeah so now you got Evan Moy no I don’t think Cam Thomas will ever make a um not even the East or West bro he’s not making it who he making it dwabi um but yeah Dane made it too he average actually maybe he could many minutes Bruss was playing his first year wasn’t even playing that much so Tatum is going to be out front bro like come on now yeah tatum Tatum is going to be out right so Tam was scoring 10 cam was scoring like 10 points too his first year um yeah I don’t think he’ll it it’s possible i don’t know over who begin no I’m just saying cuz Jeremiah Fierce he can’t shoot he is shooting 28% from three right almost like let’s say let’s round it off 29 29 i think he’s a decent mid-range shooter though yeah but he I don’t know because these the league right and and and were very poor shooters and you figure like in the off season that’s the least they can actually do and it’s not hard um you just get a bunch of guys right get two or three guys to rebound the ball for you and just work on your three-point shot right and pay those guys like you like Ben Simmons got like 170 something million dollars man you telling me you can’t pay three guys and get like a really good shooting coach to actually um uh work on your three you know in the offseason so if they if these guys can’t do it you know I’m not saying Jeremiah Fears won’t but I mean I rather get somebody in here that can actually make it three especially at at 6’2 and you can’t shoot better off drafting Jagor uh I don’t know man i mean 68 what what is he 6’8 69 68 69 whatever listen in order for you to be and you know this DJ in order for you to be a really really really efficient passer you got to be a scoring threat man you know like you have to be like a real scoring threat what are you doing with another Ben Simmons maybe yeah and he was averaging like I think 10 points a game in college oh no that that that really kind of scares me i mean he’s really like a backup right now plus he has to get stronger um I don’t know we’ll see if his shooting his jump shot actually really translates into the NBA um but if he if he he’s struggling to score against like college guys you can imagine like the guys in the pros man well whoever what about Malawatch um I mean yeah I’m going do a video on him cuz I was looking at him in the Olympics um they said he’s better than Joel Embiid now than with you know than I I don’t know i don’t know cuz like I think I think he did himself a disservice by going to Duke man if I was him I I would have went to a college where like the offense is like centered around me they really used him as a role player you know like just like a guy that just like really set screens and and and and that’s his strength right there man oh you got John i don’t see I don’t see Cam making it in five years n because yeah you’re right that the dudes who are all star right now they will be out the league or drop off they’ll be older but they’ll still be better players than game like you have Kade Tyrese them dudes not going nowhere um Garland like them dudes is not going nowhere bro uh well again Desmond Bane is damn like like when he’s on he’s like borderline like an allstar caliber player man yeah um that’s the reason why he got the five first round picks for him now not every player can make the All-Star team but like he’s there on Desmond y’all forget Desmond is really nice bro desmond good to be honest in the playoffs he he really the only him and uh JJ are like the only two role players that actually like step up in the playoffs yeah yeah j he kind of stays stagnant he doesn’t really I mean I don’t know what they gonna do with job Jonathan thinks that is an overpay so what all right all right so if Desmond Bri’s got worse though thinking that’s a future that’s their only like they got better in the future with you i didn’t even read I didn’t read the details of the trade cuz like I just I just woke up like about an hour ago like I I saw it uh the trade but I didn’t really read the full details you know it depends on like what picks these guys actually get but um Cam since I’m overrating Garland i said one thing about Garland you over here in the comments glazing Cams right now i mean I don’t know about Zenobay man like Orlando is going to be like really at the top right now man you know cuz that like like Desmond Bane can actually give you between 20 and 25 points per game and you got Paulo Ben Carroll then you have um what the was it Wagner what’s what’s his first name uh you talking about Mo Wagner yeah moagna yeah yeah yeah yeah that’s a that’s a that’s a good you know big three right there man um and Jonathan’s actually saying “Is this a good risk downfall?” Yeah man cuz like Boston’s not going to be there man boston doesn’t want to get into the second apron and they don’t want to like they don’t want to pay it’s a new ownership group man they Oh wait bk because he said provide why is Brooklyn not making any of these moves man they just staying like I don’t know they stay in pack what What assets do we have no we got pick outside of picks i mean we got we got give players too nobody wants our players our players trash [Laughter] and and Orin that works perfectly for them because he plays well in that role yeah man yeah Shawn Marks really kind of decimated this team well Jonathan they could still You never know bro m the Magic I always said this bro the Magic they they can always they always had something up their sleeve bro so they could still make a move they could still move off wait wait if you look at this Magic roster now with Desmond Bane are they better than better than the Knicks i think they got more depth but I don’t think they’re better okay i think they could take I think now they could definitely take them because like they got way more depth than the Knicks right now and you seen that depth can just kill the Knicks i mean outside of the the Knicks starters they don’t got nobody bro so yeah the Orlando Magic can give them a run for their money and the Cavs first of all I’m gonna be real the Magic’s gonna beat the Cavs if they ever face each other again in the playoffs magic is nice bro like what what is what’s wrong with the Grizzlies like now you about to pay uh Jiren Jackson Jr on this money you still got J on this team like they roster got worse yeah I don’t know i mean I like Jiren Jackson Jr though man um yeah but you overpay for him i think they talking about 300 million 200 million something like that i’m not I don’t think but he hasn’t really shown any kind of like and but you know like he has to get the ball man i mean there’s certain scenarios where like if you go into the playoffs um like in half court sets I just think that like they should run their offense to Jiren Jackson Jr man like and you know he can overpower guys where Jo can’t you know um hey Jonathan come up here bro all right let me get the those dudes that you’re naming are not going to go for that all maybe KD will he says do I think Memphis wants to build around J at the moment man well at least I mean can if Contab is club will Pope can actually hit threes i guess they’re looking more for like a guy who could spot up and not create as much you know like I I don’t know but then you’re asking J to do more well I mean you if you going to pay $300 million to Jam Jackson Jr man like he has to step up man you know I was in the West that’s not enough yeah yeah that’s the I had Memphis i actually had Memphis heading into next season better than what they was now i don’t think they going to even make it out the play i think that the city got to I mean that team got to move out of Memphis man uh go to Vegas maybe Seattle or something like that memphis is like I don’t know man it’s just like I’mma be real bro i don’t think you can win with a championship or even get deep into the playoffs with John like I’mma be real bro
