Knicks NEXT MOVE! NY Targeting Former NBA Champion To Build DYNAMIC Front Court w/ KAT | Knicks News

the knicks are looking to make their next move according to the latest reports new york is targeting a former nba champion to form an insane double big lineup with carl anthony towns we’re going to break down all of these latest reports today if you’re enjoying the content please go ahead and hit that subscribe button and make sure you have notifications on as well too if you want to support the channel the easiest way to do that is to hit that subscribe button and now let’s get started the knicks are targeting a former nba champion we have been talking about possible trades the knicks are going to make this off season for weeks now but that’s not the only way the knicks plan to improve this roster they plan on using free agency to do that as well too and according to the latest reports new york is targeting former nba champion with the boston celtics al horford and the main reason they’re doing that is to create a new and phenomenal double big lineup let’s break down all of these latest reports today shout out to james l edwards with the athletic for answering my following question that i asked him on his mailbag i asked him “what free agents are the knicks targeting this off season?” and here was his response to me unfortunately i’m not privy to their wish list and new york doesn’t have big money to go out and round out its roster the franchise will likely have the $5.7 million taxpayer mid-level exception to use before rounding out the roster with minimum deals however there are a couple of names i think the knicks should consider and have had rumblings about considering as well too a couple of the names to consider with the taxpayer mid-level exception are spencer denwitty trey lyles and al horford as for minimum players i wouldn’t be shocked if the knicks brought back delon wright and or landry shamut due to the knicks current salary and their cap limitations they just don’t have the big money to go out there and make the necessary free agent additions that they need to make for this roster so because of that they need to be very selective on who they add and as you saw there the knicks have a number of players that they can target with that taxpayer mid-level exception and one of those players is al horford and that’s not the only nba insider that’s suggesting that al horford could join the knicks this off seasonason espn’s tim bontemps also stated that the knicks could potentially target al horford this off season to help with more bench scoring shout out to yahoo sports for breaking down exactly what espn’s tim bonds had to say according to them the knicks could pursue al horford in the summer the knicks depth is particularly thin in both the front court and the scoring department they rank dead last in bench points per game this season and the lack of scoring depth showed during the postseason as well to fix those problems espn’s tim bontemps said on the hoop collective podcast that the new york knicks should pursue al horford in free agency to increase their depth and here’s exactly what he had to say if they go out there and get al horford this summer who i think would be an unbelievable fit on this knicks roster and they go get another perimeter player to deepen their rotation that’s a much better team that’s a team that could beat the pacers next year that’s a team that’ll be in the mix in the east next year i got to agree with tim bontemps here i understand al horford he’s 39 years old he’s a little bit on the older side but what he can give the knicks off the bench not only in the scoring department but in the defensive department as well too and then when it finally happens and we see al horford and carl anthony towns share the floor together forming that new and phenomenal double big lineup man i cannot wait to see that i would love al horford off the bench double big lineup three-point threat if towns is inside horford will be outside shooting the three and if horford is inside towns will be outside shooting the three that double big lineup it will be one of the hardest double big lineups to guard in the nba because of who towns is and who horford is their skill set and how they can play together and they already know how to play together they have that chemistry all they need to do is figure it out in new york with this current roster and i think they’ll be able to do that in regards to the knicks making a couple of these moves and maybe not making any trades but potentially still being a team in the east that’s a force next season i agree with bontemps i believe that can happen but they need to make the right moves the right coaching higher the right free agency moves and the right depth moves as well too we need more pieces on this team there’s no way to escape that and maybe we might need another big trade to happen the only reason i mention that is because of our salary and the cap space we have left we just do not have the money to add all of the significant players that we need in free agency that means maybe you’re able to add one but then after that you’re likely going to have to trade for the rest but as i mentioned with al horford i would definitely take a chance on him even though he’s older he can still shoot that three ball he can still get you rebounds and even at his age he can still give you defense a couple of block shots here and there and playing alongside carl anthony towns that might re-energize him might make him play even harder and i hope it does if new york is looking to make that notable upgrade in free agency look no further than al horford and shout out to sports illustrated for giving us this following information as well too horford could be a strong fit for the knicks despite his older age al horford is 39 years old and he will be entering his 19th nba season next year despite his advanced age he is still a productive big man who can help make an immediate impact in the second unit on both ends of the floor this past season with the celtics al horford averaged nine points and shot 36% from three he would be a strong floor spacer for new york’s offense while also having defensive versatility two things that the knicks could really use in their bench unit 36% from three from a player who’s 39 years old and he’s that tall getting older as well but can still have an impact sometimes an immediate impact if he’s coming off the bench and new york needs more players like that we need more players that when they come in they have instant offense or an instant impact deuce mcbride mitchell robinson and if we can sign him al horford will be able to do the exact same thing former nba champion veteran leader locker room voice what else could you want i would rather not bring back pj tucker because why do we need pj tucker and just sign al horford he gives you everything that you need and then some you want a former nba champion check you want somebody who can play defense and shoot the three check you want somebody who’s comfortable coming off the bench check you want a veteran leader and a locker room voice check he checks nearly all the boxes for new york and you don’t even have to trade to get him you may be able to get him in free agency that connection that he has with carl anthony towns if i’m new york if i’m leon rose i am making sure i’m maximizing that relationship if i bring him in i’m having town sit in as well too because having a former nba champion somebody that impactful off the bench like al horford sign me up every single night that’s impact that’s what we need and off the bench i’m not sure you can find another player in free agency that if you added them to the bench with the taxpayer mid-level exception they would have an impact like al horford that is a championship level move you add a player like that it helps you in every single area moving forward and that right there is a leon rose move and that’s why i believe it is going to happen in free agency this year now maybe the boston celtics are aggressive and they do everything possible to bring al horford back for their team and if that happens then maybe the knicks don’t get him but if the celtics don’t want to do that and they go in a different direction the knicks need to pounce on that opportunity because al horford in my opinion is the perfect piece for the knicks to have off the bench but what about you guys what do you think about the knicks targeting a number of different free agents with that taxpayer mid-level exception and one of those players being former nba champion al horford let me know how you feel about that in the comments section below guys because honestly i would love to hear from you but that’s going to do it for this episode i hope you enjoyed it and if you did go ahead and smash that like button leave a comment below and of course guys please subscribe to the channel until next time nick fans take care of yourself your families and each other peace and

The Knicks are looking to make more roster moves soon! But NY doesn’t have to make multiple trades to do that. The Knicks can also address the roster via Free Agency. The Knicks have been linked to a number of different FAs over the last few weeks but possibly the best free agent of the bunch, Al Horford is one of the targets for the Knicks. NY wants to create a NEW and phenomenal double big lineup and this one could be a GAME CHANGER for the Knicks in the postseason as well… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

  1. Im not going to take care of myself, and screw the family, why would i take care of other when i dont even take care of my family? Hell no, i thank god everyday wolves send kat to ny so ny can stink another 50y.

  2. Anything not obtaining KD will be a failure. Al Horford retired already , if the Knicks don’t get KD they will not just not win a championship in the next 2 years but will take a step back.

  3. Bro that is not insane, insane as in bad yes he not what we need if u talking bench depth that's it but that is not it,we would still be to slow I hope u know this,we must get faster with Youth non of that old guy shit,he looked great because he was a plus they didn't count on him like we seem to do on our team,Bench help that's all that would be bro u hyping him up Y???

  4. How about developing and counting on the younger guys, u mean to tell me it's no progress with the younger guys they just holding a roster spot? Come on all that is old ,let's start growing in house wtf bro, stop with the old guys

  5. And you think his defense is better than Mitch you are tripping bro,we don't need no more defense that can't play above the rim, just like offense we are slow and behind on athleticism, and he scores but defending in the paint he is not better than Mitch u dreaming and talking about Boston we are not Boston bro

  6. How about we elevate Ariel Hukporti and bring up MosesBrown from the G League. Maybe get KAT to workout with PatEw33 on defense. We had no bench production because Thibbs refused to play the bench or develop the G-League talent. Let PJ go or become an assistant coach. We don't need to replace an old player with another old player. Especially if it means losing MitchRob23 or pushing him to the bench. Send all centers to Pat for schooling..

  7. I’m not too concerned with focusing on matching up with Indiana. We need to have teams adjust to us. Just improve on the issues we have: BIGs, PG and a wing (3&D).. I would like a more interior threat for a Big..

  8. All those checks made a whole lot of sense bcuz PJ Tucker was a wasted uniform. Just put him on the coaching staff but Al might be so so solid. And he can mentor Kat and how to maximize his versatility.. Make the call ☎️

  9. Stupid morons will trade mitch watch. They have young kid. Mitch is gone. I hope not. He 1 fav players. The real reason they got so far

  10. wtf are you talking about did your eyes just not see horford relegated to useless vs us or how about the fact pacers ran Mitch off the floor wtf you think they gonna do to horford? As usual no thought given just a bunch of here say

  11. Horford coming off the bench isn't such a bad option. If they do sign him, they should immediately release PJ Tucker who is a useless player at htis point taking up a roster sspot

  12. Al Horford would be an outstanding pickup. Sign him along with a good backup PG & hire a better coach & this offseason is a major W.
