tim Leggler alongside the touchscreen is all yours It’s been high level basketball We’ve really been entertained What stood out tonight at late so after that horrific offensive night by OKC most of the night their def and they finally take the lead Their defense then closes the deal And I’m going to get right to this cuz I’ve stopped it a few times cuz I wanted you to see elite level defense So let’s play it here And it starts really often right here Where are you picking the ball up i mean we got face guarding You’ve already forced Hallebertton to give it up You force Shakum this far out on the floor So that’s where you’re initiating your possession Let’s play it Get the dribble hand off This is really important Watch this close out here by Jaylen Williams Like his his left leg is already planting Why is that so important if he overextends to Seakkum because he’s worried about the three Pascal Seakum is going to end up being downhill but he’s not able to do that because he’s already shifting his weight to cut him off Here we go Now the dribble handoff and the weak side Shay Gil just Alexander Now it’s his turn He fights through the screen which is important because now there’s no downhill turn into the paint So he cuts off here But here’s what I want you to look on the backside Chad Homegood Look what he’s doing right now He’s pointing at Alex Caruso He’s so aware He’s telling Caruso I want you to close out on the perimeter because Miles Turner is coming out here looking for a three and he wants to stay in the lane to protect against any drive It’s great communication great execution Here we go Alex Caruso now is the one that closes out on Turner forces him off the line and it ends here Of course Lou Dort is the guy that shoots the gap and is able to blow this play up gets the steal We go the other way It was a one-point game He gets the breakaway gets fouled Oklahoma City’s defense taking over one more time Now I want you to watch Scott This is what I was raving about Chad Homegrren and his footwork And it starts right here Point of attack There’s the ball screen You could take a look at Chad Hongren right here Watch him now on this possession as we play it He switched on to Hellbrin Watch how many different times he cuts him off There’s one There’s two There’s three Gets a little help on a pinch out of the corner for Wiggins but cuts him off Cuts him off right there in his lap So he can’t get to the corner Now we play it Back it back out Gets it to the other side Continue to contest Contest Fights him all the way down the lane One close out here by Dort gets one Watch Alex Caruso get the second close out right here So you get two different guys on a contest on Miles Turner There’s one There’s a second effort at the end of this possession They end up not getting the ball There’s a foul called on the play They get a stop though at the end of that Chad Hongren single-handedly defensively blew up three possessions with his ability to guard perimeter players and his length at the rim That’s the OKC defense that I saw all year long It showed itself when it absolutely had to Pacers were two for 12 when they were contested by Chad tonight And they’ve got 13 games with 10 or more steals in the playoffs the most in the playoffs since steals became official That was 74 That’s 50 plus years ago Did the Pacers lose their chance to win the series tonight i don’t believe they necessarily lost their chance These games have been too close I agree And they and and Indiana has done some really incredible things some improbable things throughout this postseason run So to think that they couldn’t win another road game in this series I I think is foolish I think what Oklahoma City did was they gave themselves a chance now to win the series cuz I think they’re down 3-1 I don’t think they’re digging themselves out of that hole They did what they had to They gave up home court in game one They just stole it back It’s a best of three Two of those will be at the number one seed in the league Oklahoma City if he goes to a seventh game but there’s no doubt in my mind Indiana is going to give them all they can handle And I expect these to be close games No argument We totally agree I that’s exactly the way I saw it It’s just the Pacers can still win this series The Thunder I don’t think there was a path to winning if they didn’t come back and erase this deficit tonight to even it And they did
