Celtics Trade Talks ESCALATING… Report Reveals SURPRISING Report | Celtics News
celtic trade reports are really starting to pick up as a brand new report has dropped surrounding Drew Holiday and his future in Boston this is particularly surrounding one interesting team we’re going to break down this report and discuss what this means going forward as things are really starting to heat up for the Celtics and across the NBA but before you do it all if you’re part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel your guys support has been absolutely fantastic so make sure to hit that subscribe button and thank you guys again for your continued support you guys have been be ladies and gentlemen a lot to go over today and obviously the big conversation and talking point right now is the Celtics in the trade market chris Rozing there’s been some rumblings lately about Jaylen Brown after some interesting posts on social media from the Celtics social media team yesterday but we’re going to be focusing on Drew Holiday today as some new reports from ESPN insider Bobby Marks came out as well as just some new reports and rumblings in general surrounding the future of Drew Holiday as he is arguably the most likely player to be traded away this off seasonason along with of course Chris’s Porzingis but you can see this here celtics rumors two teams lead the race according to Bobby Marks to land Drew Holiday and the Celtics could trading Drew could end up sorry trading Drew Holiday to one of these teams now this is a very interesting one now let’s dive into the teams and there’s one in particular that we’re going to kind of dive into more but we’ll go over both to begin with that being said there are teams that are interested in holiday services as long as there are options to help the Celtics get out of his salary Boston is open to making a move and while few teams have indicated interest in Holiday two teams seem to have emerged as favorites to land him in a trade both the Mavericks and the Clippers have emerged as top candidates according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks both teams could explore holiday trade depending on what happens with star players already on their roster and here’s the exact quote i don’t think a pick both of the teams you mentioned the two teams Chris are interesting to me with Dallas and the Clippers Mark said they’re interesting to me because they have two players who have player options with Kyrie Irving and James Harden what happens with those players or both those players rather I think will play a significant role as far as the flexibility that the Clippers will have and the Dallas will have even if Irving returns to Dallas the Mavs need a guard to help carry the load and of course the Mavericks have been interested in a lot of different guards whether that be Colin Ston things like that drew Holiday would fit the Dallas Mavericks perfectly and we’re going to dive into why here in a minute but before we get into the Dallas Mavericks side of things let’s dive quickly into the Clippers side let me know down below is there anything from you know would you be willing to trade Drew Holiday to the Clippers and at this point the amount of assets you’re going to have to get back for Drew Holiday is not going to be very much because his contract although he’s a fantastic player a champion here in Boston he is on a hefty contract right and that’s the biggest issue for him he’s on a big contract he has some years left on his deal he’s in his mid to going to be approaching his mid to late 30s by the end of the deal all these different things didn’t have a great year last year either and as a result and teams also know that the Celtics are a little bit desperate like no team is going to run out of their way to you know help the Boston Celtics out a team that had just won a championship all these different things especially given the fact that they know that they have to because of their new ownership the luxury tax they have to go under that luxury tax meaning you have to trade one of those guys and of course Chris is on an expiring i think you could probably you know find a couple teams that are interested in him and there are a lot of teams that are interested in Drew Holiday as well and I think the Clippers would be an interesting fit though I don’t see it as likely as the team we’re going to talk about now which is the Dallas Mavericks drew Holiday and Dallas here’s why the Celtics Mavericks would work as trade partners and this was another article that dropped this is on the New York Times this one is extremely intriguing to me because again the Mavericks they are trying to win despite the Luca Don trade despite all the you know Tom Foolery that happened with Nico Harrison they’re in a very good position right now they have Kyrie Irving they have uh Anthony Davis who is going to be very good and they have Cooper Flag and of course they have Klay Thompson Daniel Gaffford which we’ll dive into all this here regarding a trade if they can get Drew Holiday they really need help defensively they have the paint defense locked down in AD one of if not the best paint defenders in basketball and then of course you have Kyrie Irving who can be explosive offensively they don’t have a point of attack defender right now to the level that Drew Holiday is now if you bring in Drew Holiday it would make a lot of sense and you can see here they kind of did a roundup from a few different reporters we’ll start with King it’s no secret the Celtics hope to cut salary we know that they need to cut and shed around 20 to$25 million in salary moving Drew Holidayiday in the second paragraph here could make sense for them financially per though he remains one of the NBA’s best defenders he turned 35 last week and it’s interesting you see this here they basically ask another reporter do you agree with that the Bucks traded for holiday and immediately won the championship the same goes for the Celtics this could happen for the Mavericks and I think you know the teams that want are going to be interested in Drew Holiday Services are obviously teams that are going to have the ability to just go ahead and make a move that will put them in a position to and obviously it’s a very interesting scenario for a team like I mentioned there the Dallas Mavericks they obviously have a bunch of different options going forward for how they can compete you know Luca Donuch got traded away and then from there everyone thought they weren’t going to compete but now according to these new reports they’re going to be very much involved in a Drew Holiday trade but also in a bunch of other deals like I mentioned they’re interested in guys like Colin Ston they’re interested in maybe even trading away one of their centers in Daniel Gaffford and you can see this here this was from I believe Yahoo or MSN they came up with a mock trade now do I think this mock trade is super likely or super doable i don’t know this one’s a little bit you know ridiculous here however because of Holiday’s expensive contract it isn’t as easy as you know it might seem i don’t think that this deal is going to happen but let me know in the comments section right now do you think a deal like this could make sense do you think it’s in the works if they want to trade him and essentially the deal would be Daniel Gaffer Klay Thompson and Oliver Maximus Prosper who is a prospect to the uh obviously going to the Celtics and then the Celtics straight away Drew Holiday and a first round pick so in this deal you’d be giving up a first round pick which is a little bit absurd and I guess the in theory thing here like this doesn’t really make sense to me because you’re getting back players who are win now to a degree Daniel Gaffford Klay Thompson and you’re giving up Drew Holiday which is fine you’re not really trying to win next season anyway but then you’re also giving up a lottery protected first round pick like I don’t think this is going to be the deal they’re basically but even then because Klay Thompson’s deal has another two years in it so let me know what your thoughts are on this trade in particular i want to bring it up because I think it’s a little bit ridiculous i will they have to give up Will teams have to give up a pick to get Drew Holiday i’m not entirely sure because again his contract is long there’s teams out there that you know can take on that salary and I think anyone who would want Drew Holiday at 35 years old want them to put their team over the top maybe add some veteran leadership i think both is true for the Mavericks though again they have a lot of veterans there already now in AD and Kyrie to build around Cooper Flag and Cooper Flag is a very very good defender um so obviously we’ve yet to see how it translates to the NBA level but at college he was one of the best defenders if not the best defender in college as a wing at least so now you have Cooper Flag there you add Drew Holiday it makes all the sense in the world right and I think that’s ultimately what’s going to be the difference here you look at his stats last year trailed off a little bit uh you know 35% from three 11 points a game still one of the better defenders in basketball and a very interesting point is that every team like I mentioned earlier that he’s gotten traded to the year he’s traded there they’ve won a championship so you think back to Boston in his first year they won a championship milwaukee with him on the team they win a championship in 2021 so you know he is clearly contributes he’s a contributor to winning and not just winning games but winning a championship and I think we know Nico Harrison said that the Mavericks want to win a championship and for the Boston Celtics you need to hope that you get enough back in a deal to make it worth it now are you giving up like this deal i don’t think it’s going to happen unless they have you know faith that Klay Thompson’s going to fix their issues and you have him under contract for the year after with Jason Tatum i don’t see this as necessarily a likely deal however you know it would be I think for a deal with you know Drew Holiday it’s going to be interesting to see what they have to give up because will they will the Celtics be willing to give up assets to get off of the contract to get under or would they rather just make a trade because you can do the same thing without giving up Drew Holidayiday if you need to shed 20 to 25 million of course Drew Holidayiday is making more for longer uh or making longer at least kristoff’s making around 30 million just one more year left on his deal there’s teams out there that you would assume would take a flyer on them that want to win i mean teams like even to the degree of you know not the Mavericks cuz of course they I mean the Lakers or some teams like that now I don’t think the Lakers are going to go after Christophs but teams out there that aren’t just going to be eating the salary and are going to want assets in return like the Brooklyn Nets like the Utah Jazz there will be teams out there who are going to be willing to take some of these guys it’s just a matter of figuring out who and when because otherwise you’re going to be stuck giving up a ton of assets let me know down below what your thoughts are here seems like your holiday the Mavericks is Plz Don’t Trade Anyone From The Roster Plz.
If I had to pick one or the other I'd rather see Holiday stay here and KP go if it's purely a salary dump. But either way I'd also prefer gaining draft assets over giving them up. This years draft class is looking really good. I'd even be ok with KP and Holiday both being traded if they could move up high enough to grab Knueppel or Bailey. Or maybe even Maluach
I'd move Jrue to Dallas if we were able to find a way to get dereck lively instead of gafford. Lively's 21 with high upside and a low contract, which is why it wont happen…gafford's just a very uninteresting player.
Jrue is worth more than Gafford, Klay and Prosper…and no damn way are the Celtics including a pick
Jrue Holiday is a true team player. He is an extremely valuable asset.
And add Sam Hauser, Xavier Tillman to create more cap space
