Who Will New Orleans Pelicans Draft In 2025?
yo what’s going on guys And today we’ll be talking about who will the New Orleans Pelicans draft in this year’s 2025 NBA draft If you guys don’t know I do all the pre-draft coverage for USA Today’s Sports Hook.com so you can check out more of my coverage there Like and subscribe It’ll help out the channel a ton Now let’s break it down What could the Pelicans be doing their new head of basketball operations Dumars is going to be a guy who said they’re building around Zion So they’re going to be needing guys who can play without the ball in their hand give some defense and space the floor So I think the biggest thing here is if you look at somebody like I mean if Conanipple is available right here they’re taking Conanipple There’s no questions asked So I think that’s the first and most obvious thing This is a guy who I’ve compared him to a not as long a better three-point shooting little bit not as good defensively because he doesn’t have the length but he tries the hell out of it Legit Swiss Army knife version of DeAndre Hunter in Conanipple And I know he measured in 6’5 66 but he can play the two or the three I think he’ll be more effective at the two just being bigger He’s thick sturdy guy Coach’s dream You know the joke Scrappy Jim Matt will shoot the cuff off the ball Like really somebody that if your team like the Pelicans who believe like they’re they have the pieces to be a playoff team that’s the guy you draft But and that’s kind of what they need a big tough versatile scorer or shooter who can also provide some defense No offense to Jordan Hawkins He’s had his moments but he’s not timid but he’s he he’s a little skinny He’s a little small They need someone who can give him some size especially at the two Then the other options would be I think E Messi a guy I’ve spoken to and talked to and interviewed is their the big man of the future So you either sign or trade for somebody to be his backup or you draft somebody But I just think the the big man here you wouldn’t draft because they might just end up maybe like creating a log jam or stunting Eve’s development So I think Conanipple is the obvious choice Now Jeremiah Fierce Casper Yakunis are all reasonable options due to the fact that if you’re or Carter Bryant if you really want to take a swing on a wing or a forward with a little bit more athleticism stuff I just think Canipple is the the obvious answer right here Now they would like whoever they draft at whatever position to fit multiple roster directions either rebuilding or being a playoff team So that’s another reason why I think a nipple is perfect cuz he can develop into something more or just be like Luke Canard with defense to begin with So with that being said what what do I think is the biggest thing This is also the team that has the 34th pick And with the 34th pick I think that’s also where you can get your backup big like either Ryan Krener Momo Fay who Momo Fay is I another guy I interviewed and literally like two weeks ago in Italy is like a kind of like a little bit of a four but plays like a five in the body of a four but he’s ripped who can be a good rebounding shot blocking multi-positional defender with just like an interior game However with that 34th pick Colin could be there and he could be the perfect drop coverage rebounding corner shooting three big man Buglaj Marovich or Yanick Conan Neerhauser Buglaj Marovich is like the pass dribble shoot big man He’s in the four He’s got a little bit of a tweeter but I I think he’s a four can play small ball five and then even be a little bit of a three He’s going to have to put on like 15 or 20 pounds cuz he’s at like 213 But bro he he’s fun I think it’s a little too early to take Jai Broom and I’d rather just take the the sweetest man in Yanick Conanhouser as he might you know turn into like a a poor man’s Daniel Gaffford if it all pans out well So to me that’s the most interesting part right there is that if I’m them yeah let’s get Canipple or whoever if like for some reason Trey Johnson or somebody falls there obviously you would take that but you take Canipple or whoever you like I’m assuming Canipple right there at the the seven mark and then you turn around and you go down to 34 you just stay put there’s going to be big man options Like you can go on offensive big man like I said in Marovich he’s a little smaller who can pair up with Carlo Matakovich who I love who’s a good bouncy lot of threat athletic floor spacing rim running 6’10 big from Bosnia her hersia right correct me if I’m wrong I really think Yan Neerhouser Ryan Colbrrener would be the best another one’s Maxine Renault but I think he’s probably going to be gone but Colbrer or Neerhouser would just allow for you to stagger Matakovic Neerhouser and Eves Messi which will give you just constant floor running and interior presence that for a team like the Pelicans especially where they’re at would really benefit from having constant rim protection and size next and people who can run the floor with a Zion Williamson Now the biggest thing is Willie Green I think that’s another thing is that he’s going to love having guys like that just because he hasn’t had them yet either With all that being said I do think the Pelicans could also use their pick to trade back and then to gain capital and draft somebody else that’s going to help them later in the draft Like let’s say they feel like Sedra Coward will be able to give them the same output that Kong Canipple but they feel like they can get cowarded at 12 or later Maybe they collect assets and they go back And I think that’s definitely a possibility I wonder what’s going to be the long-term I don’t know not hold up but definitely what’s the long-term prognosis prognosis on CJ McCollum and obviously it seems like Bruce Brown’s not coming back Are you keeping Kelly Oolen I think Oolen works So I think you got to answer those questions and that’ll help give you a clear picture on what the future’s going to look like with this team I think you also could be secretly trading Zion Maybe not in the off season but mid-season or next off season where you basically spend this off season putting an incredible roster around him just to prop him up and rebuild his trade value So you then you can actually finally do a rebuild because you can’t rebuild truly with Zion on the team just cuz that’s going to be him healthy Big if a 30 win team So that’s it If you guys made it to the end of the video I want to hear you guys’ thoughts What do you think the Pelicans should do with their draft picks this year and what do you expect and want I definitely think they’re in a situation that is pretty interesting to say the least So ciao
