What if Cooper Flagg refuses to play for the Dallas Mavericks?

a different kind of ball going to be taking place next week thursday and f no wednesday and thursday is it wednesday and thursday 25th 25th yes a week from now nba yeah the nba draft round one night one wednesday round two night two thursday i miss the days when the nba draft went like 12 rounds well it made it yeah dude it was so awesome um yeah it’s been a hot second since they went that deep too because i’m like you’re not stacking another full team with 12 players but it made the fact that if you were really paying attention to college basketball you could have discussions with your friends and just wow them like crazy like i think this is how like uh seth greenberg and some of those international draft guys made their made their nut cuz it was like dude yeah we know this uh this 10th round pick from slovenia you know ivon zubaja you know i’m just making that up but clearly from johnson’s and wales college yeah i like you know dude yeah he’s 27 points a game you know scored 82 against queens i know it’s d3 athletics but he’s a versatile player exactly could play any position cuz he had to play every position that kind of deal that that anyway the fun is there so next week nba draft one full week cooper flag is in dallas 48 hour visit uh landed yesterday afternoon and going through not necessarily a workout but more like a a meet and greet he’s going to talk with players he’s going to talk with coaches talk with the organization about their vision for him and i can’t imagine what that vision would be cuz dallas you know found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow by getting the number one pick in the upcoming draft in which they get generational talent like cooper flag and a lot of people are saying it’s destiny it’s destiny that flag ended up in dallas well unlike most draft prospects flag did not schedule any visits or workouts with any other team besides the dallas mavericks the fact that the mavericks are the only team flag will meet with i think builds that strong indication that he will hear his name called out at number one so we know we know cooper flag is very clearly going to be the number one pick i mean he knows it they all know it this is what he’s been working for his entire life his parents know it his family his friends everybody in banger personal trainer yeah his personal trainer back in maine knows it yeah this this is not some big secret but what if and this is the best part about sports what if cooper flag decides to hold out that he doesn’t get the answers that he is looking for on his visit to dallas what if cooper flag ends up with charlotte hornet it would have to be a monster package of draft pick epic proportions for cooper flag to not end up in dallas but what if he doesn’t hear it like this is the this is the 99 you know the one in a billion uh things you remember from avengers endgame like i’ve ran this doctor strange i’ve ran the simulation you know a billion times and in every instance we lose except one and only he knows the answer because he could change the path if he says something so this is the one in a billion that cooper flag at the ripe veteran age of 18 years old rolls into dallas texas in the next 24 hours here and he’s already i’m sure been taken out for a nice big steak dinner and he’s probably been line dancing already like if you’re going to whine and dine an 18-y old what are you going to do yeah like that’s the that’s the other that’s the other thing about this going to a texas rangers game already what do you i mean you know he’s dialed into basketball you know he likes old school whatever it is do you drag in dirk nitzky do you drag in ronaldo blackman do you drag in alex english and roy tar maybe not roy tarpley not even that derek lively derrick lively sit down with him do you roll in all the the new faces and old faces and go “dude you are walking into dallas we have a championship that is 15 years old sitting on the mantle over there we’re ready to go we’re ready we have a legend coaching our team right now we we’d shut down the big three of the heat at one point is it possible that even after all that and i know it’s the longest of long shots but what if he doesn’t like it what if like you have no choice like he’s not going to hold out he can’t i mean sitting doesn’t do him any good otherwise he would just go back to duke and run it back right i’m running it back we all knew he wasn’t going to say anything but he’s an 18-year-old and you’re trying to tell this 18-year-old of all these things that we’re going to do in the next 20 years of your nba career i mean next up on the board would be the san antonio spurs and maybe it’s just something that maybe it’s just a gripe that he has against texas so he would want to go to the spurs and then that leaves the philadelphia 76ers um me personally i wouldn’t want to live in philly sorry to anybody that moved out here from from pennsylvania delicious cheese steak and then that gives us the charlotte hornets the charlotte hornets as next step on the board where if the mavericks don’t impress him in the next day or two that he plays for that rookie contract and he plays his plays his tail off right just bust his butt rookie of the year allstar whatever it is but you know they’re still not do they didn’t say the right things the first time is cooper flag the guy that’s going to hold the grudge like nah you didn’t really impress me but i know i don’t really have a choice because this is how i have to get achieve my dreams is i have to let you pick me number one what if somehow he ended up with the utah jazz who are the fifth overall pick and then you have cooper flag and kyle filipowski play with each other the two most hated white guys to come out of duke and most recent recent season as as teammates what is it about duke and trying to find villains grayson allen i mean reic you know i don’t think anyone hated grant hill bobby hurley like like dude i don’t like you looking at you i don’t like you don’t like you at all no there’s no way there’s no way dallas is uh has given this up yeah um i i appreciate the banter though so uh the nba has gone the way of the nhl in dragging out the goat uh the nhl put wayne gretzky on all their coverage this year yep wayne gretzky was unavoidable tnt coverage i think he crossed over to espn a few times he was yep feature on the pat mcafee show a few times wayne gretzky and again listen if i could get time with wayne gretzky five minutes i would totally take it never had the opportunity but they put him out there front and center made him say a few things but he wasn’t an outspoken kind of guy he said a few things but it wasn’t memorable very very levelheaded that’s why it was the perfect perfect mixture like it was the perfect scenario to have him up there on the panel but have him seated right beside paul beset yeah bis bisette carried the the freight with saying the the crazy junk and and the whatever it was even get into that argument with commissioner baitman at one point about the uh not paying uh state income tax in florida the goat of hockey was on the tnt coverage the goat of basketball is also coming to nba coverage michael jordan is going to do analysis for the nba this year and he’s going to be out there but he hasn’t said anything at this point they’re borrowing a page from the nhl playbook in bringing out michael jordan when he’s ready or when he needs to say something and i think it’s a huge mistake i think it’s a huge mistake because if you are going to introduce your audience to michael jordan who we all know michael jordan it’s not it’s it’s not a secret about michael jordan right about michael jordan the basketball player but michael jordan the commentator is a much different bit and are we asking mj to do the same things that wayne gretzky did be the foil for somebody else or is jordan confident or comfortable enough to go out and call his own shots out there and actually make a few waves which is the one thing that wayne gretzky didn’t do we were all in reverence of wayne gretzky like mr handshakes at the at the four nations cup and and showing up at in in locker postgame locker rooms and whatnot is mj supposed to be that guy do i need mj to be an ambassador for the sport or do i want him to come out guns blazing i and criticize the current state of the nba i i think mj can hold up his own in terms of standing his ground and believe in what he says after all he did make a whole documentary series on netflix to talk about how great he was and how much people pissed him off so i i i’m i’m personally looking forward to the first time he has to give analysis on a a game featuring lebron james because i want to hear that’s it’s the one the one thing that’s missing from the announcement is is it anticipation because i’m not sure that’s the right play i think i want him to be out in front of whatever’s happening and i mean even with tom brady and tom brady you know as an analyst is okay on football but even fox drug his butt out for uffl games in the season just to give him a little taste of what we were going to see and you know he didn’t say anything magical by any means and brady’s not meant to be that way he’s an in-game analyst he he does the things in the moment mj’s not being asked to do that mj is not going to sit next to mike breen or or um uh dave pash and call games that’s not what they want him to they want him to be a commentator and so i want him to come out firing and be that commentator but so far he’s been hidden from us and i think that’s a mistake i think we just need to get him out there and just let him squatchch and let him scream and let him pontificate about whatever it is and then let’s figure it out figure it out moving from there i think hiding him right now and not debuting him right away it it tantalizes and and makes us eager for the anticipation but i don’t want that anticipation to come with that first appearance and he just falls flat that will do mj no good and he won’t want to come back he’ll have no reason to guy’s a billionaire guy’s fishing he owns a mansion and a yacht as elmer fud would
