guys something really exciting is brewing with Modis Buselis and the Chicago Bulls this is something that is worth paying close attention to because here’s the thing modus isn’t the lanky rookie we saw last season anymore oh no no no this guy looks like a different animal leaner stronger and he has clearly been spending some serious time in the gym you know it’s that kind of offseason transformation that makes you sit up and say “Okay who is this now welcome everybody my name is Troy and this is the Halfcore Report be sure you click that thumbs up button and subscribe for some of the best NBA content that you’re going to find on YouTube and that’s exactly what caught my attention even his teammates are saying the same thing bulls guard Audumu said that Buzzelas had a great showing in LA during their offseason workouts and trust me that is an understatement so let’s talk about these offseason workouts bulls veterans Au Dunmu Kobe White Patrick Williams they didn’t wait for training camp they got together early June for an intense week of scrimmages weightlifting and some good bonding buzzel though he dominated those sessions showing real progress and making it clear he’s on the rise he showed so much progress that I is setting high expectations for his 20-year-old teammate in fact he even went as far as comparing him to Giannis yeah Giannis and I know comparing a young player to a former MVP and NBA champion is a huge claim but Bzelis’s teammates they know basketball he called Modus a hard worker who loves the grind and praised his growing strength and ability to dominate he believes that Modis is just scratching the surface getting bigger stronger and more capable of finishing rebounding and controlling the game on offense Bzelis is already showing a well-rounded skill set and he’s not just a shooter knocking down 36% from three he’s got a smooth handle for a big man which allows him to attack the rim quickly and finish with authority his free throw shooting is solid too above 80% that’s a key for any forward looking to expand his scoring and his game what’s exciting is how Modus combines shooting with the ability to put the ball on the floor and that makes defenders pause because he’s becoming a true scoring threat who can stretch the floor to get downhill when needed defensively Bzelis is a rising star too he led the Bulls in blocks as a rookie with 75 and he’s shown impressive timing and instincts on the defensive end he’s a natural rim protector but what’s even more promising is his mobility that lets him switch onto smaller players so with his length athleticism and growing strength he’s got the tools to guard multiple positions effectively so if Modus continues to develop his defensive IQ and physicality he could become a true anchor someone who changes shots grabs boards and disrupts offenses back to Giannis though remember when he came into the league as a skinny 15th overall pick he averaged just 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds a game but by year four he broke out and by year six he was an absolute nightmare for every defense bzelis meanwhile he just finished his rookie season averaging 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds knocking down threes at a 36% rate and showing glimpses of rim protection arguably he’s ahead of where Giannis was at this stage especially with his ball handling and ability to attack the basket here’s the kicker though modis’s teammates like I Dunumu don’t make these comparisons lightly with Modis’s natural talent and new muscle he is shaping up to be a legit problem for opposing teams io said Bazllis was the guy he wanted the Bulls to draft last year and he is genuinely impressed by how much his body is transforming he’s becoming more powerful finishing stronger at the rim and gaining confidence because he’s realizing very few players can stop him and once that confidence is fully locked in paired with his shooting ability and his drive it’s going to be a gamecher for the Bulls and it’s going to be game over for opponents so let’s recap modest Bzelis had a strong rookie year drafted 11th overall he struggled for minutes early but he earned 31 starts showing he can score defend and block shots at a high rate he even made history by competing in the slam dunk contest the first Bulls player to do so in almost 20 years but then after the All-Star break things really clicked he took a clear leap increasing his scoring rebounding assists and blocks while maintaining his three-point accuracy on higher volume looking ahead with Zack Lavine at the door and Josh Giddy a cornerstone to this team the Bulls are clearly focusing on youth buselis’s versatility and athleticism make him a perfect fit for this new direction he’s ready to be another piece a go-to player on a rebuilding team and he is set to get more minutes and responsibility add in a number 12 draft pick and the Bulls are going to be super exciting this upcoming season so here’s a hot take for everybody i think that Modest Buzzel is going to average over 15 points in his sophomore season and become a front runner for most improved player the Bull’s youth movement means he’s in prime position to break out long-term the kid’s got all-star potential his upside is incredible with his size mobility shooting and defensive fundamentals they all fit the mold of a modern two-way wing who can anchor a playoff team if he tightens his handle and grows as a playmaker don’t be surprised if he becomes the face of a franchise rebuild i’m thinking low-end Michael Porter Jr and high-end maybe a more complete Fron Vagner so if you’re tracking the NBA’s next wave of stars keep your eyes on Modest Buselis he’s coming up fast and this could be the start of something truly special for Boozelis
