Should The Suns Reconsider Trading Devin Booker After The Desmond Bane Trade? | Ben Garcia Show
so I’ve been vehemently against trading Devin Booker and honestly not much has changed when it comes to that sort of topic because I don’t just want to trade Devin Booker i like Devin Booker devin Booker is the potentially the greatest Phoenix Suns player of all time i know some people just hop on and say immediately he is but Steve Nash won two MVPs you know Kevin Johnson was really good charles Barkley won an MVP like Booker is not far away from those guys and if he stays here for a long time he’s going to dwarf those guys but I don’t know if he’s the greatest Phoenix Suns player yet that feels very 2021 Suns fan whether than or rather than someone like myself who grew up with Steve Nash who was like objectively awesome outside of defense and Booker is not a great defender either but I gotta tell you seeing that Desmond Bane package on Sunday all you could think to yourself was damn what could Devin Booker go for i mean you see that Desmond Bane package on Sunday and you say well what is Devin Booker worth and then you think to yourself well should the Suns reconsider a Devin Booker trade no one wants to trade Devin Booker and that’s not what I’m advocating for all I’m doing is pointing out what you could potentially get for Devin Booker because Rudy Gobear went for five first round picks four first round picks and a pick swap desmond Bane went for four first round picks and a pick swap and Devin Booker is miles better than both those guys booker is at his best the best number two in the NBA desmond Bane’s probably a high three go Bear as well high three there there’s there’s not a ton of worry for me that the Suns rebuild is going to take a decade unless Matt Ishbia is just hellbent on trading all the picks that they have for players so that they can at least be a playoff team and just be the modern-day basketball version of the Pittsburgh Steelers where they win a lot of games where they make the playoffs but they never have a chance of actually being a threat in the playoffs year in and year out reconsidering trading Devin Booker should be on the table even if I don’t want to trade Devin Booker even if the Suns don’t want to trade Deon Booker but you look at the Desmond Bane package four first round picks and a pick swap plus Contavius Caldwell Pope that is a hall for the Memphis Grizzlies and I get why the Orlando Magic did it people will sometimes go after the Magic because they gave up a lot in that deal for Desmond Bane but my response is what what else were you supposed to do it’s Orlando when was the last time When was the last time Orlando had a big market player come to them and choose Orlando shaq left mcgrady was traded away they haven’t had a star pick Orlando in ever really dwight Howard was drafted there shaq was drafted there mcgrady if I’m not mistaken was drafted there they have no ability to go get a bigname player they have to swing for the fences so I get it if you’re if you’re an Orlando Magic fan if you’re a part of the Orlando Magic organization you have to swing for the fences when it comes to bigname players because they needed someone that can add to that team’s ability to score paulo Ben Carroll France Vagner good players and fine defenders paulo probably even more so than France but that team without a shadow of a doubt needs more scoring that’s what they went out and got Cavius Caldwell Pope for but he just he didn’t stand up to that task kind of an expensive three-point shooter not the same defender he used to be so I get it from an Orlando Magic perspective but if you’re a Suns fan you have no problem attracting free agents the Suns were an awful organization in November and Jimmy Butler still wanted to come to Phoenix partially because the he knew he knew the Suns would have paid him but also because who doesn’t want to be in Phoenix in a winter sport it’s why Kevin Durant doesn’t want to go to Minnesota i’ve been to Minnesota in December it is so cold it hurts so I get it if you’re a Magic fan but if you’re a Suns fan if you’re a part of the Phoenix Suns organization if you see that Desmond Bane deal four first round picks a pick swap and Contavius Caldwell Pope I don’t know how you don’t reconsider trading Deon Booker even if you really don’t want to even if I don’t want to and I don’t want to he’s the franchise cornerstone but if Desmond Bane is worth that all I can think about is what is Devin Booker worth and the Sun should still keep Deon Booker around for another year but then you run the chance of Giannis getting traded next year and potentially affecting the package that Devin Booker could fetch because teams are too busy going after Giannis but when Suns fans say trade Devin Booker I don’t think they’re insane because it is practical but for the amount of picks that they got back and the amount of assets the Memphis Grizzlies got back and that’s just Desmond Bane he’s a good player a fringe all-star player a 25 and five player almost almost a 50 40 90 player actually like that’s how efficient he was this year not super close but not insane i don’t know how you don’t think about or reconsider trading Deon Booker you could restart your franchise yesterday it would just all be up to Matt Ishbia to be willing to be the guy that finally hits the reset button now you’re probably not trading Devin Booker this year you’re probably giving it another year because let’s say you do the trade with the Rockets and you get Een and Jabari Smith and the 10 pick and you hit the and you hit on the 10 pick you’re like well okay this team showed some promises here they won 42 games they were the six seed or whatever right they won 45 games in a down year in the West they were the six seed or they made the play in tournament and they were frisky and they were fun then you don’t trade Devin Booker because then you have assets you have the ability to lure free agents or bigname players to Phoenix i think it would be a mistake to trade Devin Booker this year for all those reasons let’s see how it pans out for one season post Kevin Durant trade because there’s there is a world where they get the right role players back they get the right picks back and Devin Booker leads a team to a six seed or a playin team that makes the playoffs and gives a one or two seed a very small run for their money but if you don’t think the Suns front office isn’t seeing that hall back for Desmond Bane and saying to themselves well what is Devin Booker worth eight first round picks seven first round picks six first round picks and a bunch of pick swaps plus a player or two that is not out of the ordinary so I get it i love Devin Booker too dude’s awesome but he’s better than Desmond Bane i don’t think it’s particularly close we’ve seen Devin Booker have back-to-back 40point games in the finals so I get not trading him i get falling in love with Booker but seeing that Desmond Bane trade all you can think about is wow the Suns if it ever comes to it are going to get a massive hall for Devin Booker and I see my guy King uh King Bryant in the chat in all fairness Magic got fleeced on that trade um I disagree i I just wholeheartedly disagree and I mentioned this a second ago what was the last big free agent like an actual a free agent as big as Desmond Bane went to Orlando they have to overpay to bring stars there it isn’t Phoenix it’s a small market no one has chosen to go there in the last ever and they had to go get a player and they needed scoring paulo Ben Carro like I like the trade if you’re the magic because Paulo Beno has to be a more efficient and more consistent score and same with Fron Va Vagner desmond Bane is that score so I like that and I disagree again with Aaron in the chat it doesn’t do anything for anyone yep i I just would disagree i would immediately say that it makes the Orlando Magic contenders in the East but a championship no but you have to remember the East is terrible the East is terrible the Pacers might win the finals this year granted they lost last night but still if you’re the Suns you’re licking your chops absolutely licking your chops with a after seeing what the Orlando Magic traded for Desmond Bane because immediately you’re saying to yourself Booker is worth at minimum six first round picks now and three pick swaps and a player or two and that’s when you think about really kickstarting the rebuild but I wouldn’t just do it right away because the Nets got a lot back for Kevin Durant and a fine amount back for Kyrie Irving when his value was in the toilet and they’re still rebuilding so it doesn’t mean just because you get picks that you’re not rebuilding anymore but it does help and after seeing that deal if you’re the Sunsman you have to really consider what you can get back for Deon Booker okay that was interesting didn’t think I’d be doing a think about trade Devin Booker segment but let’s start off here or I guess I should say let’s go here
Desmond Bane was moved to the Orlando Magic from the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. After seeing the details of the deal it got Benjamin thinking what Devin Booker’s market could drum up?
Should the Suns think about trading Booker again if the Kevin Durant deals fall apart?

Surprised Bane got moved for so much i think the magic jumped the gun but maybe they know something i dont lol
3:40 tmac went there via a sign and trade from raptors
I like book but idk if he’s even worth enough in the trade to trade him. Hes worth more here. What we gonna do with picks? I don’t trust the front office to pick good players nor do I trust our luck in the lottery. We can have all the odds to get the first pick and we end up like 8.
You can’t fall in love with players . When they’re good enjoy the moment. When they’re good but not complete needle movers move on . If you all wait two years is value could most likely go down . I would cash in
No. If Bane gets traded for five first round picks could what the hell could a team offer that would make the Suns bite and who would even have those assets.
Phoenix is a big market.
