Nike S.T. Flare | Outdoor Basketball Shoe

to all of my fellow outdoor basketball players this shoe right here is supposed to be made for you Hey what’s going on guys my name’s Chris Welcome back to the official wear testers.com YouTube channel Today we’ve got a detailed look and breakdown on these potential bad boys right here These got me super excited bro Like I’m serious These things are sick This is the Nike ST Flare It is an overseas release so they’re not supposed to be hitting state side It’s an outdoor specific basketball shoe Something that basketball players at least in the comment section have been asking for from Nike in particular for a really long time This is something where can this compete with say like a Chinese brand like a leaning or an ant where their products are just naturally like indoor and outdoor friendly I’m not sure but all I know is that like it’s about time Like what the hell took them so long you know what I mean people been saying this for what 15 years We’ve been on this channel for a long time man And it’s just now Just now I know that they’ve done outdoor specific shoes before There’s been outdoor specific Kobes There’s been outdoor specific LeBron but they all got cut Now this is the box This is what I’m talking about when I say that Nike does orange boxes as their performance boxes Like something that’s not fancy but it is made for performance not sportsear It comes in a box that’s just like this Now as far as the shoes are concerned I actually grabbed these from an eBay seller that I’ve used for a really long time They’re ID for shoes We’ll have a link down below in the description if you wanted a direct link I would just save the seller if you’re an avid eBay shopper or even if you’re not save the seller anyways because they always have like great stuff that’s exclusive to overseas that we usually don’t get here Sometimes they get product that we are getting but they’ll get it before us So it just kind of depends on what you’re looking for But yeah great seller always authentic They’ve been around for a long time You can trust them I guarantee it This also is an XDR labeled product So it will come with the XDR tag Now these guys like I was saying is is built for outdoors So hence the XDR tag that’s extra durable rubber at least in terms of Nike standard So when we are looking at the outsole it is really thick and it is really durable feeling On top of that like the herring bone is crazy Like this is stuff that like we used to see in the ’90s I don’t know if you guys remember the I don’t know exactly what to call the the series or the line but like it was the shake and whatever There was the shake and destructs and they all had DRC rubber which was very similar to this It had really thick herring bone on it Dennis Rodman used to wear those all the time Air Darwins had something similar too That was like kind of like a boot even though it was a basketball shoe So yeah So stuff like this just reminds me of stuff like that from the past which is uncommon nowadays from this particular brand But I do I do feel like I feel strongly about this Every brand should have at least one specific outdoor shoe Just one Now will these work indoors i’m sure of it The rubber feels hella grippy Like it feels tacky as So I think that this is going to be a model that you can use both indoor and outdoor I wouldn’t personally take them outdoor then indoor just because I don’t like bringing dirty stuff into the gym So I always like make sure that my indoor shoe is literally only worn on the basketball court I won’t even wear them to the gym I will put them in a bag and bring them with me If it’s an outdoor shoe though I’ll just wear it to the court and be fine But yeah the outsole here it looks and feels incredible Also it wraps up the medial and lateral side right here So uh this is really interesting It’s kind of cupping the forefoot and it also dips So like it’s cupping a lot of the midsole That midsole is Kushlon 3.0 And despite it being fairly caged primarily it feels really good Even in the forefoot the 4oot I thought would feel kind of like muted and it’s not And on top of that there is a 4ft Zoom Air unit And while I can’t see it perfectly it does feel like one of these It feels like one of the standard 4ft zoom units not the rectangle stick of gum unit A So so far I’m pretty impressed The traction feels great Cushion feels awesome This insole is a piece of but you can take that out and swap it out for anything else that you like if you need to The upper is pretty basic but also interesting at the same time It’s a lot of textiles so very modern as far as like modern day basketball is concerned There’s not a lot of hot melt stuff on there So the TPU plastic overlays are what you know Nike used to call fuse The fuse area is primarily isolated to the eye stay stuff So uh it’s keeping that area strong because that’s where a lot of the tension is going to be Like you’re you know yanking your laces and putting a lot of pressure with all your movements So if that wasn’t there you would tear right through this textile upper But it is layered in a way that almost reminds me of a skate shoe Like there’s this fold here at the midfoot Like it goes from the heel to the toe And it’s just this extra layer It’s thicker And on top of all of that stuff it’s literally got a graphic like overlay onto it that really reminds me of the scaling from the Nike Kobe 6 While it doesn’t feel as durable as those like this feels more like a screen print or whatever You know what I mean like like something that you like would screen print onto the product it is raised and it’s really weird feeling It’s like aggressive And with all of this textile it’s all like open- mesh And I know that’s hard to see cuz of all of the like the color and stuff like that but there are a lot of ventilation points here So they should be fairly breathable for an outdoor surface as well which is going to be fantastic The tongue is really interesting cuz they made it thick but breathable So the main base layer right here at the midfoot it’s open- mesh The top section reminds me of ’90s dude Like it’s a real tongue It’s not like a thin piece of plastic It’s awesome There’s even a cool graphic on there Like it really reminds me of the ’90s Like who was in charge of this this is cool Now in addition to that we’ve got some thick ass laces which is pretty cool We’ve got 4ft flywire cables that go down into the footed So you got additional 4-foot lock down right there It’s going to help keep you on the footed and all of that stuff with all of your shippiness especially in the heat when you’re going to be a little bit more sweaty than you would be inside One of the coolest parts about the lacing though is right here at the top you’ve got two metal grommets And yes I said metal Why do these get them but they can’t do them again on the 12s Like they’re literally grommets too This is dope Now as far as fit is concerned that’s where I’m going to really critique the shoe because they’re using that last again dude Like what the This is a bunion waiting to happen Nobody’s foot is straight like that Nobody Why are we keeping doing this like why why why do we still use this despite like you can you can take the insole out put your foot on it You’ll see where the spillage is I don’t like it I really wish that Nike would go back to their last that they used to use Uh I don’t know why they started changing them into this one but they have really been just sticking to their guns with it man And it’s annoying But with all of that being said what is today’s user submitted question of the day today’s user submitted question is being hijacked by me You do this too often No I haven’t done it in several weeks It feels often Well anyways it’s summer time and I want to hear everybody’s favorite amusement park memory Okay take a minute Oh you want me to go you just said everybody Yeah So I thought that wasn’t I thought that was all of them not me including you My favorite amusement park memory You already look like you’ve got one I do Can you go first sure I’m gonna take you back to the summer of 2005 Okay It’s you me and my two younger sisters getting on the Pixar swinging ferris wheel for the very first time That ride was scary And we didn’t know that it moved Exactly Until it did its very first and to paint a better picture my middle sister weighs next to nothing And then my baby sister was like seven at the time And I want to say she sat with me and so our thing was very much offbalance And that’s how you have to get on that ride if you want to get a good rocking I thought I was going to fall on you guys Yeah And we loved it so much We were like laughing hysterically up there that we went and got my parents afterwards and then we found out oh if you distribute the weight too much or if the weight’s like more like a heavier heavier one Yeah It doesn’t and we were just like “Oh this isn’t as great.” But still like that that memory makes that ride my favorite ride And we’ve replicated it with our kids as they’ve grown up but still that was the first one gets you though That was peak for me Okay I don’t know if I have like a favorite favorite but I will say that the first time that me and our son went on the Incredic Coaster was just funny cuz this kid he was small too And he was excited He was all about it And I didn’t tell him I told him to hold on but like I didn’t tell him to put his head back You know what I mean and so he as soon as the ride started he put his head down but the ride goes so fast Yeah That he couldn’t lift his head back up So I thought he passed out And like he’s just right And he’s like jostling I’m laughing I’m just like “Bro are you okay?” And we finally stop and he just looks at me like “What the was that?” And like I was just like “You got to put your head back like to enjoy it.” And he was like “I couldn’t.” And uh so we hopped back on it and he’s he wouldn’t go on it like Oh he did not go on it for a while It took him like 2 days to get back on it but he did get back on it and then he sat up straight and he loved it after that but like that first one though was funny And then this one’s more of like a selfish one I I don’t even remember what trip it was It’s your own memory It’s not selfish It’s selfish in a in a little way One of the theme park like crew members or whatever and that we were at Disney I think we were at Disney California and I Oh it was Saurin I know what story you’re going to tell cuz Laura was with us Was it Saurin i thought it was the swing ride Maybe it happened twice I did cuz you guys got multiple little passes out there Oh yeah And so like some of the cast members like they they knew who I was from the channel and they gave us Fastpass things or something like that I can’t remember what they’re called I don’t think they do them anymore but like you don’t you have to do everything through the app Yeah But it was super cool though and like it was like really like a nice gesture and it made the trip like more time friendly you know what I mean because of how long you could wait in those lines And so yeah so like I thought that that was really cool Not necessarily that I got recognized but just that they were so nice and were just like appreciative of the content that they were like here can like let me help you out Yeah And make your trip more fun And so like I thought that that was really cool I think it did happen twice I think it happened on each ride But
