Wizards “Suprising Offer” For Spurs Number 2 Pick

Wizards “Suprising Offer” For Spurs Number 2 Pick

[Music] what’s going on everyone so there have been several reports of teams trying to acquire the number two pick from the San Antonio Spurs uh Houston is one of the teams that is still based on reports active in trying to work out a path uh to land the number two pick dylan Harper seems to be the clear-cut kind of number two option uh for most teams right the San Antonio Spurs are also expected to take Dylan Harper with the number two pick right teams are kind of lining up and trying to pony up but question is is like is there a deal out there that maybe makes sense for the San Antonio Spurs to where they would trade the number two pick or is it something where it’s like yeah absolutely not we’re we’re drafting and keeping Dylan Harper no matter what uh we’ll see right you know most people myself included I think that they’ll just draft Dylan Harper with the number two pick and kind of take it from there um but again stranger things have happened you never know a teen comes and offers a Godfather package where they’re just like man even if this guy is a superstar you know we’ll we’ll take our chances with this return you never know what somebody’s going to offer right people overpay for things all the time especially if they think like you know Dylan Harper is that franchise guy uh but one of the teams that is active in trying to acquire the number two pick from the San Antonio Spurs and also is willing to include uh names that we don’t know but it was listed as surprising names are the Washington Wizards um so per reports the Washington Wizards are uh active in trying to acquire the number two pick and are willing to give up um multiple picks as well as uh players that are on their roster and part of their young core so this report uh comes from Grant Seth uh the Washington Wizards are reportedly willing to trade some surprising names in an effort to move up uh to the number two pick per Grant AF uh Seth uh holding picks number six and 18 in the first round uh the Wizards have explored trading up scenarios uh in hopes of securing one of the top backcourt prospects league sources told RG Washington uh has made multiple offers to teams in the top five in an effort to land either Dylan Harper or Jeremiah Fierce uh even uh being willing to part with surprising names to move up to the number two overall thus far those attempts have been rebuffed now obviously again doesn’t tell you who those surprising names are which is a little frustrating right like are they willing to give up you know last year’s rookie uh and Alexander Sar or is it just like you know random guys that you’re like oh you know didn’t see that coming right like again there’s there’s is it like a bal right like who who is it I I imagine it’s probably somebody like that right I’m sure it’s you know maybe a you know Bud Carrington um you know some of the the younger guys on this roster maybe it is even a a potential Alexander Sar right which I don’t know if they would do that because he’s kind of he kind of showed some real signs towards the end of the season came onto the scene was just not very good at all um and then kind of started getting more and more comfortable out there and actually showed some signs and glimpses from what you wanted from a you know top prospect like that but again I don’t I don’t think the Spurs are going to trade the number two pick right like again maybe if it’s something crazy right like I talked about like the the Sixers right if they gave Maxi and the number three pick maybe right the Spurs might go like ah you know Maxi is still young enough he’s still you know he’s more he’s proven right he come in plus we could still go get a top prospect right something like that i don’t think the Sixers would do something like that i want to be clear about that like I don’t necessarily think the Sixers would do something like that but maybe that would be the type of thing that would incentivize them because again they’re not in a position where they have to trade the number two pick um now there are genuine questions about kind of Dylan Harper’s fit with De’Aran Fox as well as Stefan Castle as well as just his potential development over the the especially earlier parts of his career right because he’s coming into a team that has an allstar point guard all-star caliber point guard and dearen Fox and a guy in Stefon Castle who pre-Daren Fox was supposed to be the point guard right and they kind of trained in condition this year to be the point guard and now is going to have to slot in and play the two guard yes he’s you know 66 in size so could he slide and play the three sure right but like Dylan Harper is looked at as your kind of point guard you know SGA James Harden type right combo guard but the guy you want to put the ball in his in his hands and kind of let him go to work and make the decisions so you know there are some genuine questions there so could this be something where the Spurs are just kind of trying to jack up his price like this is our guy this we’re not trading him for nothing right like don’t even try you know we we’re not we don’t even want to hear your offers right and then next thing you know it’s like with the number two pick the you know San Antonio Spurs select Dylan Harper uh oh we got a trade right like who knows again I I my guess you know would be that they’re going to keep him right that they’re going to take and draft Dylan Harper and he will end up being um on the roster and it kind of figure it out right take the best player available and figure it out from there and and look again you look at teams like a a Oklahoma City Thunder like an Indiana Pacers i mean these teams are running three sometimes four guard lineups i I mean against Denver the Oklahoma City Thunder had Jason or uh sorry Jaylen Williams not Jason Williams um Jaylen Williams uh in at the center position and then four guards around him and it was like essentially a five guard lineup and it was successful and it worked in those minutes and gave them positive minutes right and you know again you look at a team like Indiana and they’ve kind of you know same thing they’re running three four guard lineups uh at times with you know Obi Toppin at the five and and all this stuff so to me I look at kind of that that situation and I’m like okay well maybe you can do something like that where you are going a D’Arren Fox Dylan Harper Stefon Castle you know if you get Kevin Durant Kevin Durant if it’s not Kevin Durant then whoever you know Harrison Barnes maybe this year and then uh Victor Wimyama right maybe that’s kind of your your fiveman rotation as far as your starters go um now I I do imagine ine Dylan Harper will kind of be kind of eased in you saw it with Victor Wmanyama you saw that with um even uh Stavon Castle earlier in the season and then you saw him kind of progress some of that was due to injury but just in general uh but you know I to me I mean look it two things can happen either A they’re going to trade the pick or B they’re going to keep the pick right there’s not really this in between it’s just would what would a team be willing and how far would a team be willing to go in order to pull that off right like you know and because again the Spurs are they looking at it as like we don’t we don’t really need more assets right like you know unless a Giannis or something like that becomes available and that’s the play we’re going to make we don’t really need we might as well might as well start drafting these guys developing these and getting ready like how many young every year you can’t bring in three four five six new players right at at some point you’re going to have to start paying guys and building guys and doing all the things that you know that get these guys to grow so it’s kind of like well let’s get these guys now get this over with you got what many believe is a can’tmiss prospect in Dylan Harper again you never know right but is that something that you’re so willing to to trade and give up again you know a team like hey we’ll give you like the Wizards we’ll give you the the number six pick the number 18 pick we’ll give you blah we’ll give you Alexander Sar and it’s like you kind of get your running mate alongside Victor Womenyama you get a nice kind of you solve your wing depth and you know blow like and you get the number six and 18 pick for Dylan Harper right like I don’t think the Wizards would do that again I think that would be a hefty overpay but stranger things happen right teams do crazy things sometimes you could be looking at it like hey we’re not giving up any future picks right like and how high are they on on these guys where they might be looking as like hey Dylan Harper that’s our franchise guy and you know you look at a team like the Spurs they could be looking at it like okay we get we now have basically our you know our guard our forward our center and our power forward for the next eight years right maybe something like that happens and develops we’ll see time will tell um but again I think we’ll draft Dylan Harper and that’ll be that right like that’s that’s probably how this is going to go but anyway as always this is a discussion pass question on you let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments that being said if you haven’t liked this The San Antonio Spurs have the coveted number 2 pick in the 2025 NBA draft and many teams want Dylan Harper. The Washington Wizards are offering an interesting package in order to try to land the Spurs pick.

  1. I already said this last week. Sarr for the second pick . But if we can get both bilal and sarr is perfect

  2. The Spurs will regret it if they trade Dylan to the Wizards. The Wizards saw Gilbert Arenas in Harper when it comes to offense, that’s why they acted fast. He’s a perfect fit next to Sarr. I keep saying this Castle is all hype, nothing special, overrated. They should invest in Harper, a scoring guard, not a "defender" guard. LMAO 🤣

  3. If Sarr is one of the players the Spurs would be fools to trade number 2 pick for him to pair with Wemby. Dude is allergic to contact. Pass

  4. #2 for Sarr is a hard "No." We might consider #8, Bilal and two future 1st round unprotected picks for our coveted #2. Nothing less than that.

  5. i cant see a trade between the rockets and the spurs being on the same division ….i wonder what the rockets can offer the spurs probably guessing reed sheppard +cam whitmore + jabari smith +10 pick and 2 future suns picks for the second pick and salary match and i believed is still better for the spurs to keep the second pick is worth more …even if the wizards offer sarr + coulibaly + 6 pick i still think the second pick is worth more for the spurs to just keep it.

  6. …i wanted sarr and the wizards 6th pick for our 2nd…but there's all this teams wanting our 2nd pick do they vould draft Harper… there's a reason teams want Harper he might be the real deal…i would keep the pick and draft Dylan Harper…

  7. There are certain teams that agents and teams REPEATEDLY use to "drive up" demand for their players. The Wizards are one while the Sacramento Kings are always another. Don't believe the hype.

  8. It would have to be a stupidly amazing trade deal for the Spurs for me to accept it, otherwise laugh at every offer and hang up. Harper is is a REALLY good player and would be the clear #1 pick if Cooper wasn't there.

  9. Yeah unless it was the Mavs trying to trade back a spot, or a Giannis type situation then there is absolutely no reason to trade the #2 pick hell even in the Giannis situation you probably protect the #2 pick given you have a billion other assets you could move to make that trade work. If the Spurs are going to trade a pick it'd make more sense to move the #14 I think it is? pick and maybe kick that can down the road for some future picks. Or move that pick to get a role player or some cap relief if they wanted to move on from Keldon Johnson.
