Taylor Jenkins IMPRESSES During Interview! Knicks REVEAL When Next Coach Will Be Hired | Knicks News

the Knicks coaching search is in its final stages reports indicate that the Knicks will be making a decision very soon and may already know who the favorite to land the job is going to be we’re going with different head coach candidates but since the beginning of this there have been three names surrounding this search jason Kidd Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins and thankfully we have updates on all of those prospects shout out to New York basketball NBA insider Mark Stein and NBA insider Ian Begley for giving us all of this following information here according to them source briefed on the Knicks coach process hiring is not expected until after the draft just want to go ahead and mention that again the Knicks right now are taking their time they’re interviewing a number of different head coach candidates but they are not rushing to make this decision a decision about the next head coach of this team will likely be made after draft night and that’s important to understand here as well regarding the interviews that the Knicks conducted this week they interviewed Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins with Mike Brown he’s said to have a strong relationship with Worldwide West also known as William Wesley regarding Taylor Jenkins we heard that Taylor Jenkins made a positive impression during his interview process and according to Begley Jenkins and Brown have been the focus they’re in that top tier of the options jason Kid is more of a wild card because he is under contract with Dallas but you guys know me once I find one report I have to look into it a little bit deeper to see if there’s any more details and I’m so happy I did that because looking into this a little bit further we now have found out why the Knicks are taking their time to find their next head coach shout out to Bleacher Report for giving us the following information here according to them even though the Knicks fired Tom Thibido on June 3rd they didn’t start formally interviewing candidates until this week some of that was because of their initial plan involving trying to speak with currently employed head coaches whose teams did not let the Knicks speak to any one of them at least not at this point bleacher report continues here by stating Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins had interview scheduled with the Knicks this week and Jake Fischer reported that Brown’s interview took place on Wednesday so there you have it the top three options to be the next head coach of the Knicks is Taylor Jenkins Mike Brown and the wild card himself Jason Kidd but going back to that initial report as we heard from Mark Stein Taylor Jenkins made a positive impression during his interview that means he impressed Leon Rose and this Knicks front office i said it a couple of videos again but I need to say it one more time taylor Jenkins his age his ability to hold players accountable defensive mindset and he can also grow with this team this team is relatively young and still trying to figure it out taylor Jenkins being 40 years old he is one of the youngest prospects that the Knicks are looking at in terms of their next head coach because look at Mike Brown he’s almost 15 years older than Taylor Jenkins and he has a lot of experience and the one factor that could make Mike Brown just a little bit more desirable than Taylor Jenkins is his relationship his strong relationship with Worldwide West we already know when it comes to Leon Rose he has a couple of people around him that he really trusts and one of those men is Worldwide West so if William Wesley says “I think he’s a good candidate i think he should be the next head coach.” I’m sure it’s not going to take that much convincing because Leon Rose he’s a good friend of Mike Brown as well too he understands him he knows him and if New York wants that experience factor if you want a head coach coming in here who already knows what to do and just needs to bring in his staff having somebody like Mike Brown is an amazing fit but Taylor Jenkins he’s also a good fit as well too these guys are available and I would rather the Knicks go after one of these guys not Jason Kid how many coaches do the Knicks have to get paid we already got Eay Udoka a contract extension Billy Donovan a contract extension are we really going to continue to pursue Jason Kid until the Mavs make it official and give him a contract extension listen I’m happy New York is getting people paid even if they are not part of the organization but we need to think about ourselves think about what we need and right now the draft is slowly approaching we need to focus on that we need a head coach we need to make roster additions roster changes potentially we need to make trades but we can’t do any of that without a leader at the helm we need a new head coach taylor Jenkins Mike Brown either one of them i am happy with either option because they both represent change something new a new era for this Knicks team and that’s what I want all due respect to Jason Kid who I’m sure if he was actually available he would be the top of the list right now for New York but he’s not available if anything he’s probably trying to leverage the situation into a contract extension more power to him new York cannot be fixated on that taylor Jenkins is available mike Brown is available johnny Bryant is available so many other coaches around the league right now are available let’s focus on the interviewing process let’s continue to get these head coach candidates in the door have them speak to Leon Rose and this Knicks front office and then figure out who the finalists are because the finalists are going to be the most important list to look at because those head coaches will have the best chance to be the next head coach of this Knicks team we do need experience but on top of experience the head coach I want coming in needs to hold players accountable superstars stars role players I don’t care i want the next head coach of this team to be defensive minded holding players accountable being able to utilize the bench and the starters and also throwing different lineups out there based on the matchups i can’t tell you how many times I was almost this close to pulling out all of the here on top of my head whatever is left of it because there were certain situations that Tom Thiro refused to play the matchups and sometimes if you don’t play the matchups you are destined to lose and that’s what happened to New York it wasn’t the only reason that we lost but it was a big factor that led to us losing that’s why the next head coach of this team cannot fall into that same trap they need to be themselves they need to bring in their own coaching staff but they need to have the independence to do whatever they want run whatever they want and utilize whoever they want to even if I don’t like it you don’t like it or the front office doesn’t like it we cannot step in and control what they’re going to do because the second we do that we’ve already lost do not bring in a new voice for this team if you don’t plan on listening to that new voice and that new voice has a say unless you plan on listening to that new voice and by the way that new voice has a say in nearly everything you do draft picks what trades you’re making free agents how to utilize certain players minutes distributions and everything else along those lines exactly what you want your head coach involved in you want him involved in player development you want him involved in free agency in potential trades because guess what after you make any of those moves who is it left up to the coach the coaching staff and the rest of the team since that’s the case they need a say tom Pivot had a say the next head coach of this team they’re going to have a say as well too and I understand New York is waiting until after the draft in order to get that new head coach and I understand it i agree with it no problem with it but if they could do it before the draft that could be even better because then you know for sure who your head coach is and what rookie or rookies you’re bringing into this organization for that new head coach it kind of fits in hand by hand but either way New York is very close in making that decision and it seems like Mike Brown or Taylor Jenkins might be the favorite to land that job with Jenkins just a little
