Rajon Rondo on Realizing Kevin Garnett’s Greatness: A Celtics Story #nba #kevingarnett #podcast

how tough is it as a point guard guarding the ball right not knowing what’s behind you boy you see this so listen so I’m No no no i’m I’m I’m That’s a great question but but the day one when Kevin Garnett got to training camp uh this is my second year in the league so it’s completely different from like what I’ve ever experienced my first year you know not the bigs I had my rookie year but they didn’t know anything i got young Albertson perk they young right i didn’t use their voice like that man the first pickup game I’m at the top of the key kg’s like “Screen screen scream.” I’m like “Damn this nigga’s in I think he’s in the paint still.” Damn all right I know I know the ball’s coming i know I can get the ball now i can force him left or right by yourself by yourself though i’m like is this is perfect like it makes my job so much easier so for me that was a hell of a question like that’s so key and that’s why I teach my young kids in my AU program is like the bigs are the quarterbacks the bigs are the linebackers the bigs are the safety you have to talk as much as possible because you’re always in the back line of defense

  1. That's greatness right there. I always wondered how these people even put it together. But I guess that's why you need a team. Everyone has a unique understanding and they put their pride aside to compliment each other

  2. Louisville aka Da Ville has GREAT guards!! So much talent in the city, it's CRAZY!! Rondo will ALWAYS be one of my favorites.

    His house 🔥 btw

  3. KG had great defense from being vocal. Real world, Tim, Webber, Rasheed, used to bake him. If you think I’m lying, watch an old full game of KG guarding premier players at his position. And KG offense was shaky at best. Don’t watch a highlight, watch a full game.

  4. If that was really one of his first time hearing somebody on his team calling out screen behind u is crazyyyyy! How is niggas not calling out screens😂

  5. KG might be the best help defender ever. He coordinated the whole defense. Plus is a hell of on ball defender as well.

  6. Many don't remember, but when the Celtics got the Big 3 together there was a huge question mark on Rondo. The 5 was Perkins, so it was whatever, he'd barely touch the ball, but the point guard had to do good otherwise the big 3 wouldn't function right, so there was a lot of pressure on Rondo and a lot of discussion on whether he'd be up to the challenge, since he was only on his second year.

That mf rose to the challenge and exceeded any expectations, he looked and played much more mature and seasoned than he was, and he was a dawg. I loved watching that Celtics team play!

  7. Dawg Bhen might get his bball card revoked…dude be saying outlandish casual shit about this hoop shit that's nonsensical. Nigga said dont nobody care bout defense my dawg please stop.

  8. So their basically the Mic I never knew that if you know FB then yk who the mic is the Middle linebacker

  9. I wish kg had more help In his younger years he's way better than 1 chip and 1 mvp dude was legit all around monster

  10. Rondo is definitely a legend..he wasn’t just a Straggler on that Celtics team..he was a big key to that Celtics ring

  11. Playoff rondo those Celtics teams were my fav to watch man ..Rondo could impact a game in many different ways

  12. 🤔, not knowing what's behind you, as a point guard? Working the back court? If something is missing in front of you, better look🤷🏿‍♂️

  13. As a big (smaller but still, started @5, and had to learn to play 1 eventually once I realized I'm no bigger than a nba guard in hs and had to learn to play smaller going into college…. my PG is my quarter back, playing center is more like a cornerback or freesafety or middle linebacker in this analogy especialy on defense)

  14. As a very high level soccer player who LOVES basketball, completely agreed. The bigs in basketball are like the goalie in soccer. They control the field of play if they are elite

  15. This is so real, I do this myself and I teach the kids I coach the same thing. Defensive communication makes the biggest difference. Especially important to do for the ones who can see everything.

  16. KG is the Coach Rondo just a smart individual he hear Rajun he said he heard screen but KG was still in the paint ahead of his pg letting him know what he got on the blind side
