Explain: A complete guide to the 2025 Warriors off-season | with Perks GSWCBA

hello everybody This is Eric Apricot and I have special guest Perks from GSW Reddit He’s GSW CBA and a well-known fanatic about the Warriors salary cap and different trade and free agent possibilities Thank you for joining me Thank you for having me It’s a pleasure to be here So we have a very fraught off season now trying to figure out how to build around New Toy and the aging Steph Curry Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green Do you want to give us just an overview of what the roster situation is looking like going into the offseason Yeah absolutely It’s shaping up to be a pretty interesting offseason that feels like they’re at like a roadblock where they have to pick a path But in terms of where they’re currently standing so going into this next 202526 season they currently have nine players under contract including one two-way Right now they got about 170.5 million on the books That does include two team options in G Santos and Quinn and Post who I would expect both of those guys to get picked up just cuz they’re pretty cheap for their contract and the value they give on the court Pretty decent playable rotation guys And then Geese contract is also non-g guaranteed and Trace Jackson Davis is as well But again I would expect both of those guys to at least begin the season on the roster Moving on from that they do have a couple of free agents Obviously the biggest one is Jonathan Kaminga He’s going to have an $8 million qualifying offer The Warriors will obviously put that out there to make him restricted And then including Kaminga they actually have two more restricted free agents One of them is going to be Pat Spencer who was converted mid-season He has a 2.5 million qualifying offer I don’t know yet if they’re going to do that one just cuz it’s a little bit more expensive than signing a veteran at the minimum I do know they like Pat I don’t know if they like him enough to commit that much money to him but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Pat couldn’t be back on a min That’s something to keep in mind Do you have those numbers on one of these tabs Let me show those so people can see what I’m talking about Yeah If we head over here the cap holds This is going to be the free agent section So this is every single player that the Warriors have a cap hold on So basically anytime a player’s contract expires if they do not resign in the NBA they maintain a capold Like for example we see David West here 44 years old and he’s actually retired but Warriors still maintain his capold until they renounce it They haven’t renounced it cuz they’ve never had to make use of cap space So until they do he’s going to be on the books But yeah of these guys we got Jonathan Kaminga here That is his capold right there But his qualifying offer is actually going to be this 7.9 or I guess 8 million figure So once the qualifying offer has been submitted his caphold is going to go down to that number So this idea of caphold is as I understand it it’s to prevent any shenanigans where the order of operations matters So for instance let’s say you knew you were going to sign Jonathan Kiminga to $22 million but you want to somehow get another few players and shove them into your cap space and then put Jonathan Kiminga in at the top and overflow And so this is to prevent any kind of stuff like that You’re just going to say you’re probably going to resign him at this amount and that’s just going to be a block on your salary cap Is that about right Yeah exactly To go even further with that for example let’s say you have a fresh team you have no one under contract Let’s say everyone’s contract expired for some reason You can’t just go out use 150 million caspace on random free agents and then resign your guys The reason that cap exists is hey you have this player you have the rights to them We’re assuming you’re going to bring them back So we’re going to put this amount on the books as a placeholder for that player Now if you don’t want that player you can renounce those rights and that will free up that cap hold and create more cap space But yeah for a team like the Warriors who were already over the cap it’s not really relevant to them because they don’t have cap space But we saw it last year with the 76ers Tyrese Maxi had a very small cap hold because of the contract he had previously signed This is what allowed them to bring in Paul George into their cap space Had Tyrese Maxi been on like a I don’t know $20 million contract his capold would have been a lot higher and then they wouldn’t have had that cap space in order to bring in Paul George because that capold would have been on the books whether or not they had already signed Maxi Of course Daryl Nory was the one who figured out some way to finesse the capold So we didn’t talk about Cavon Looney and Gary Payton the second Yeah I think we should probably put a couple words on them Let me start off with you Are they back Are they gone And what kind of price point are you thinking They both seem like players that are worth more to the Warriors than to random teams that they both need a system that brings out their goodness And Looney just seems to have so much social capital on the team and leadership And the last time he tried the market he actually did not get very good offers why he’s he was on the pretty cheap contract he was at So I don’t really know how much he’s going to get So if it’s not that robust a market I imagine the Warriors will try to bring him back unless there’s issues with dodging the first tax apron or second tax apron And then Gary Payton the second is similar except the last time he hit the free agency market he did get an offer from Portland but then that didn’t work out all that well cuz he he just got injured That definitely hurts his value I think this perception that he can’t stay healthy So I’m not sure he’s going to get big offers either So I’m guessing that unless those two get really big offers that they’ll be in the mix with the Warriors to see if the Warriors can match and there’s going to be some dancing and waiting around to see what other dominoes fall That’s my impression Yeah I would agree with that for sure I feel like for both of them I think the Warriors would probably put out a standing offer at the minimum salary be like “Hey if you accept this you guys are welcome back.” I think anything more than that it gets a little more interesting I do think the Warriors will let them test the market just because I felt like Cavon was a minimum player last year and the Warriors ended up guaranteeing his contract at that 8 million figure and I thought that was a bit of an overpay but they did that because they wanted to be able to trade him as salary and because they felt his market was stronger than I think most of us thought They can still play the role as you said they know the system well They’re great cultural fits I think on a minimum contract I’d be more than happy to see both of them back I think once it starts getting a little bit higher than that I think it’s just a question of how does it make sense right If in terms of your roster building you have space either below the first or second apron to offer them more and you don’t need that money elsewhere because of how the roster shakes out then fair enough give it to them cuz why not But if becomes a numbers game in terms of trying to fit all the pieces together I don’t know how much you want to try to accommodate to fit those two guys in just cuz I as people they’re not replaceable But in terms of court production I think at this point in their careers it is a little more replaceable than we’d like to admit And then one small technical point is that on your spreadsheet you’ve got spots laid out for secondyear minimum salaries If we gave minimums to Gary Payton and Kavan Looney because they have many more years of service they’d be paid considerably more than that But for the purposes of the cap calculations they’d be counted just as a 2-year salary Yes And that’s only if it’s a one-year deal So if it’s a two-year deal then it’s the actual salary But for any minimum contract that is a one-year deal instead of their actual salary it is just the two years of service So that’s why I have that as a placeholder in there Oh but that’s an interesting twist because at this time in their life they probably are looking for multi-year deals potentially Yes And that’s where things might get complicated cuz if they’re like hey we’ll do the minimum but it has to be like a oneplus 1 with the player option The Warriors might not necessarily love that because that’s going to increase that salary in that first year to the actual amount which is I think for both their cases with the years of service it’s going to be upwards of three million So you were saying that we have as far as restricted free agents we have Jonathan Kinga who we’ll talk about extensively but I see Pat Spencer is there for $2.3 million capold Yeah And then his qualifying offer is a bit higher It’s going to be about 2.5 million And again that’s why I’m not sure if the Warriors will submit that just cuz that’s about 300,000 more than the 2-year standard vet minimum So I don’t know if Pat is necessarily worth that to them But again that doesn’t mean that they can’t just potentially resign Pat on like a standard minimum contract If they do submit the qualifying offer then it’ll qualify them to make him a restricted free agent So he can now no matter what contract he signs the Warriors have the right to match that contract Yeah that’s correct They basically give him a standing offer to come back at that 2.5 million and then if any other team in the league would like to try to sign him they would have to submit an offer sheet instead of just offering a straightup contract So it’s going to be important with Kaminga submitting this $8 million qualifying offer because this doesn’t allow any other team to sign JK without the Warriors having the option to either counter or not Okay so we’ll get to JK in a minute And then we have Taran Armstrong who is the legendary Australian who’s a clever passer and a real hot prospect So the Warriors can make him a qualifying offer of a 2-way Yes that’s correct I actually like Taran I’ve watched him a little bit with Santa Cruz He’s got a good feel for the game And I think it was Mike Dunley who said that they actually already have plans for him to be in summer league So that kind of gives an indication that they will be extending that qualifying offer and bringing him back for another two-way And again it’s only a two-way offer with only slightly guarantee that it doesn’t count against the cap so it doesn’t really mean a ton to them So I would expect that one for sure to happen Yeah that’s a two-way is essentially no money to the Warriors but it does take up a two-way slot Yeah Yes it does And they have Jackson in one of those spots as well So that’s two spots likely locked up heading into the season Are the free agents you were talking about Kobaloney GP2 Kevin Knox and Braxton Key Yeah So those four guys going to be unrestricted That means any other team can simply sign them without the Warriors having any say So with Looney and Payton they both the Warriors both have both of their full bird rights So they can sign them to any contract up to their max It is worth noting that as we’ll get into later with Kaminga Looney and Peyton would also be subject to something called basier compensation More about that later but just something to footnote and remember And then Knox has number rights and Kina has number rights as well So both of those guys I think maybe they could bring the summer league see if they can earn their way back onto the roster during training camp be what I would look at for those two guys What else do you want to tell us about the state of the roster going into the offseason Yeah I mean I think the very last thing to look at is just the draft pick situation in this upcoming draft The Warriors do not own their first round pick but they do have that second round pick from Miami That’s pick number 41 That’s going to be something they’re going to mostly draft Maybe they do a little yo-yoing like last year with the whole Lindy Waters and Quinn and Post situation but I would expect him to make a draft there and then use that player to sign to a second round pick exception likely at this $1.3 million rookie salary which is about half of what the veteran salary is So it would be a good way for them to fill out that roster spot on a pretty cheap contract I will say you know I do the draft tournament every year and I usually love looking into who’s going to be in the second round They’re often the most interesting prospects because they’re usually super talented but older So the NBA tends to devalue them since they don’t have that apparent upside And so that’s how you get players like Trace Jackson Davis and Quinton Post coming to the Warriors on super cheap deals This year there are still good players but it’s just an extra down year for structural reasons So the NIL money the name image likeness money that colleges pay players now is huge It’s in the millions So there’s not a financial reason to go to the pros as early as possible And then there’s also there’s also a new ruling that if you played in the junior colleges and you transferred to division 1 then you get an extra year of eligibility So there’s going to be more players than usual who are staying in college And then finally this is more or less I think the last year that the COVID extra year of eligibility is going to apply to players That happened about 5 years ago So the upshot is that the second round is looking extra extra thin because a lot of players that would have been in the second round in the past are are going back to college So I’m not as excited as usual this year I would be most years I think the Warriors definitely want to cash in that that second round pick for a good cheap player But this year I’m feeling like it might be a trade sweetener Yeah possible I do always keep in mind that I think for the second round it matters less what pick number I have compared to how much you’re willing to offer the player Trace Jackson Davis a great example The reason he fell to 57 was the Warriors were offering him that full second round pick contract A lot of teams wanted him in the 30s and the 40s but they were only offering two ways So even if it’s slim pickings if there’s a guy they really like and they’re willing to pay for it it’s possible they can still snag him at that spot But I guess we’ll see how that shakes out That’s true All right So I feel encouraged again So what do you want to say about how the Warriors are looking at the offseason Yeah So just thinking about how they’re approaching it If you look here they got nine players under contract They have one two three four five about six open spots that they need to fill They’re already about 170.5 million They’re currently 60 million above the projected cap It’s not really realistic to think of them as a cap space team cuz even if you somehow dump a contract it would probably have to be Draymond to even create any cap space It’s just not really realistic for them I also don’t really think they’re going to be a team that’s going to be spending above the second apron just because all of the harsh tax penalties that are involved and the limiting of their ability to build out the roster So this is a team I would peg somewhere between under the first apron and under the second apron So there’s going to be a bit of cushion there If they want to stay under the second apron they can actually add about 36 million more to the roster So just in the big picture teams now seem to be really respecting the salary cap in a way that they haven’t before because of these extra penalties attached to the second apron In the past you could say “Hey I don’t care if there’s a luxury tax That’s not my money Joe Leob can spend some money on the team.” But now the penalties attached to the second apron affect how you can actually build the team and add good players Yeah absolutely Not only is the luxury tax just more punitive but in terms of the roster building each apron you cross is just slashes the amount of different ways you have to actually improve your team So that was a big reason why the Warriors last off season chose to go the route of being an under first apron team cuz it allowed them more flexibility It allowed them to sign and trade Klay Thompson and bring in Kyle Anderson and bring in Buddy Heel and then use that non-t taxpayer on Melton So it is definitely something they’re keeping in mind as a way to effectively build out the roster So I would not expect the Warriors to cross the second apron threshold I think they ideally try to even stay below the first but again that’s going to depend on how this offseason shakes out in terms of salary If they want to stay under the first apron that’s going to be a little less closer to 24 million But there’s definitely some different avenues in terms of what they can do If they’re under first apron they will have access to the non-taxpayer mid-level That’s a pretty nice tool to bring in free agents It’s projected to be about 4.1 million They would also have access to the bannual exception as well So that’s going to be about 5.1 million And then the last thing also that is very important to keep in mind is if you are under the first apron you’re allowed to make trades where you get back more than 100% of what you’re sending out If you do take back more than 100% you actually then effectively hardcap at the first apron But that is definitely something very important to keep in mind as well as the ability to aggregate salary and trades which they can do as long as they are under the second apron And if they do operate above the first but under the second that bannual exception would be eliminated and that non- taxpayer mid level would actually drop down to the taxpayer mid level which would be about 5.7 million as a way for them to free agent The Warriors actually were under the first apron this previous season right That is correct Yes So it’s not impossible No And in terms of having optionality it is a best course of action And additionally they actually have a traded player exception worth about 8.7 million from the trade they executed for Jimmy Butler as Cal Anderson’s salary that was outgoing I think me and almost all of the world is confused about exactly how you create a trade exception and how you can use it in that whole mess of trades for Jimmy Butler Some piece of it was a trade where the Warriors sent out $8.7 million more than they took in And if they had been really clever they could have actually traded for $8.7 million approximately of player if they did it simultaneously But the NBA lets you timeshift that amount of money into the future to complete the trade So if you can find one or more players to fit into that 8.7 million then we’ll just pretend it was part of the original trade a long time ago Yeah exactly It gets really complicated You see these five player for five player trades and think it’s oh it’s pretty simple right you added the five salaries for the five salaries but the way those trades actually get broken down tends to be pretty different Like one team will look at it completely differently than another team in order to try to maximize the trade matching and the TPEs Let’s focus in on the Kyle Anderson one cuz that’s actually relevant So we have an $ 8.7 million trade exception We have one year to use it and we could use it for more than one player but we can’t add on other players on our side Correct Yes So it has to be either for one player making that 8.7 or you can use it for a player making four and then a player making 3.7 Just whatever combination adds up to that And you can just use part of it right And keep some of it for later Yeah All of it rolls over until it expires And I believe the expiration for this one is going to be February 6th 2026 So there’s some funny thing about the first apron if you’re using an exception from the previous season right Correct Yes So because this was generated during the prior season if the Warriors do make use of it they would be effectively hardcaped at the first apron They would have to make use of this while staying under the first apron Is that true right this minute or is there like a June 30th kind of thing we can finesse It gets a little confusing The way it’s written in the CBA is if an exception is used following the last day of the regular season it is then hard caps at the first a So yes I don’t believe there’s any sort of loophole for them to work around in that Let’s ask Daryl my he would know for sure Some people have been asking me if we signed and traded Kaminga for a trade exception So we found some team that could accept his salary in without returning that amount of salary Then we would get a trade exception But would it count for the base year compensation that his salary is counting at or would it count for the actual salary that his team will be paying him It would count at the base year compensation amount So for the way it works for trading it they don’t use the actual salary It’s whatever the salary is used for the actual trade itself That would be the same thing if the Warriors say we’ll get into what BYC is and how that matters but let’s say the Warriors sign and trade JK at 30 million So he counts at 15 million outgoing They bring in a player worth$6 million That now hardcaps him at the first apron cuz they brought in 100% more than they sent out So that’s how that works in terms of the outgoing salary in a train So what about the Warriors getting I understand he might be on the market Yeah I mean there’s some big names that are being floated right now Giannis we’ve hearing a lot about KD we’ve been hearing a lot about I feel like LeBron every year is posturing with his player option and we know the Warriors would love to have him paired up with Steph I’d be curious if someone like Kawawaii or PG or Sabonis as you said would be available The real issue with all of these guys is just the salary They just make a lot and even like figuring out a way of matching it Even if you use like Draymond JK in a sign and trade like Moody healed it’s just building a roster around three guys who make 50 million plus is just not very feasible in the current CBA climate of the NBA So I think in any case with any of these players not to say that it’s not possible I think you have to realistically look at it with Jimmy being used as a trade matching just cuz Jimmy’s a high salary and it makes it a lot easier Especially cuz a lot of these teams are second apron teams so they can’t take in more salary than they send out It’s just what makes most sense is you trade Jimmy with some sort of draft compensation for a Giannis or one of these bigger names So that’s the cost of doing business is Jimmy Butler If Giannis really were available I think it’s reasonable to trade from the Butler for him Yeah Every pick possible attached Yeah But my sense around the league is that people think even if the Warriors put in their absolute best offer then it won’t be enough compared to what other teams can offer Yeah I mean it’s one thing to give every pick and Jimmy even a salary matching that’s still a solid player I think the problem there is it makes the Bucks too good right If you’re moving on from Giannis you’re probably just going to hit the reset button if you get Jimmy that doesn’t really let you do that But at the same time maybe you want to just continue like at least being a playoff team and then holding out hope that the Warriors crumble and you can use those picks But I do think it makes more sense that a team Toronto has been talked about They have some young pieces like Scotty Barnes they can package with their picks That does seem like the more attractive option than what the worries would And the tricky thing about Jimmy Butler is that his his estimated plus minus is awesome but I don’t think you’re gonna have that many teams pony enough to get Jimmy Butler on just cuz it’s so unpredictable what you’re going to get from it Yep Okay And then you also mentioned something about the Boston Fire sale Yeah I mean there has been a lot of noise that Boston is trying to get out of Taxel and that they’re going to offload one of their pieces And I mean they got some nice pieces Drew Holiday Derek White Chris Porzingis Those are all guys I think would be really solid additions It’s just hard to make the math work just cuz Boston’s a second apron team and the Warriors they’re going to want to shed salary and the Warriors don’t have that much room to add additional salary So I think a 13 would have to be involved for one of those players but it is doable It is something to think about I think Steve Kerr would love to have any of those three on his roster What about things like the Warriors adding free agents Looking at what the Warriors need I think it’s been obvious We’re always going to say they need a center They’ve even said the exit interviews They don’t want to keep starting Draymond at center So you want someone who’s playable They’ve also been looking for more scoring off the bench The non-staff lineups have always been a pretty brutal watch So be nice to have someone out there who could get a bucket or two Maybe some maybe someone who can also control the ball a little better as a backup point guard And then I think the last thing I have on this list is just three indie wings cuz we can never have enough of those guys Any other thoughts on what you think the Warriors kind of need I think it’s definitely true that if they can get size in all positions then that’s something they’ve said they want and then they know they need more shooting They just don’t have enough shooting to make Jimmy Butler work at his best Bench scoring I think might just come along for the ride because I think with Jimmy if he can stay healthy the bench is actually doing pretty well A lot of that is going to depend on what happens with Kaminga right Because if you resign him for example if we look over here if you resign JK to let’s say 25 million right That’s going to put you into the second apron and then you only really have that 5.7 million taxpayer to use It really depends on a what do you do with Kaminga Do you bring him back or do you turn him into something If the answer is no or if you turn him into something very small then that does create the possibility of using that tax pyramid level which is a lot higher That’s going to be about 14 million So with that you can actually go out and maybe bring in a nice big fish In order to use the non- taxpayer midlevel we’d pretty much have to sign and trade JK right Yeah So I mean if we want to use the full amount which is 14.1 let me throw it in here So four So yeah we want to use this full amount right Using the non taxpayer hard caps you at the first apron So if we want to bring back JK I don’t even know what realistically would make sense here Yeah even that doesn’t work So I’m going to have to bring this down probably like five It it it looks impossible There you go So if you want to use the whole non- tax pyramid level that’s the room you have there Now obviously if you trade a buddy healed or a Moses Moody that’s going to open up some salary If you trade a buddy that creates about like 14 million you could use on a single player So there is some optionality but if you’re using a non- taxpayer it’s going to make it difficult Although if we sign and trade JK we’ll be bringing in salary Yeah So you would likely have to throw in Buddy or Moses just to open up some space in there to make it work So it sounds really unlikely that we’ll be able to use the non-T taxpayer MLE Yeah unless you open up enough salary or you just or JK just doesn’t come back and then that’s how you would do that So the only way to use the non-T taxpayer MLE is JK just straight up walks for nothing or we trade a bunch of players essentially Yes Okay What if we only have the taxpayer mid-level exception Yeah that makes things a little easier I think I had JK here at 25 So again that’s 25 Plus if you throw in Moses and Buddy that’s 20 That’s 45 million that you can use as a slot for a couple of players But again if you are going to be into the second apron you have to make trades that bring in 100% or less than what you send out So that is something to keep in mind with the trades But it is more doable In terms of targets yeah it’s a bit hard to say I think the end of the free agency like the lower totem pole it’s always harder to gauge but some names I had in mind Al Horford if he leaves the Celtics I think he’s a bit old and wash this might even be his final year but as a little stop gap center I think he’d be a nice fit he can still have some good games and he boards he can step out the three-point line it’s a pretty solid fit in my opinion if he can still play at the level he’s playing at which is useful in a similar vein Chris Buchet another former Warrior is another guy who I think would be a good fit even as a starter or a backup He can also step out to the three-point line Has really great size and length And then looking at some point guards the Jones brothers Taius and Trey I think would both are they brothers I don’t even know if they are brothers I think they’re but they would be I think some nice backup point guard help that the Warriors could definitely use And Trey Laau another guy I feel like I always like Trey Low every year He’s just a solid backup power forward who can hit a three-point shot So that’s the guys I’m looking at for the TMLE range We would also have access to the bianuals That’s only if they stay under the first apron Yeah So by annual is about the same amount as the taxpayer mid-level but some guys in the lower end of the TML range maybe even minimum level Dean Anthony Melton is in my mansions every day People love Melton He was a great fit here and the limited amount of games he played If you can bring him back for the minimum I think that’s a steal If Melton’s healthy he was great here But we know he’s not healthy It’s just that we’re hoping he will be healthy by the beginning of the year Or listen Rick Rick Cerbrini works his magic So if there’s some if there’s any person in the NBA I trust to reloate a player it’s going to be Magic Silver Okay Yeah Just a couple other names to round things off Amir Kofi very solid wing from the Clippers Always been impressed by him when he plays Jont Tate really solid allaround power forward coming in as a backup The great Lindy Waters I thought was really solid when he was here as a backup wing I’d be very happy with him on a minimum Similarly with Javvante Green who I watched a lot in Santa Cruz another solid 3ND guy Gary Harris getting up there in age can also still do some stuff And then Markeel Footz and a nice bounceback here with Sacramento Jordan Mclofflin I’ve always been a fan of two point guards who can handle the second unit And then just to round things off if we want if we lose JK and we want a little bit of youth a little bit of athleticism Trendan Watford is a nice big power forward who can put the ball on the floor Okay So shall we talk about Jonathan Kinga Yeah I think we should He’s the number one domino this off seasonason So I think a lot depends on what kind of shakes out with him What do you think the options are and what do you think will happen The easiest one we can start with is simply resigning him Obviously there’s a lot of question marks there Number one in terms of fit we know JK he has high hopes for himself He wants to be a focal point He thinks he can be an all-star whether or not that’s possible for him Who’s to say I think the star is the limit but depends on the environment And that’s juxtaposed with the fact that the dubs don’t really need him to be that They need him more of as a nice little third banana behind Steph and Jimmy And they’ve talked a lot about him doing that Shawn Marion role I don’t know how Kuminga necessarily feels about that but obviously along with that kind of the question marks of his relationship with the team specifically Kerr I think it was not last season but the season before where we heard some noise about JK not being necessarily happy with the way he was being managed And obviously this year there was a number of DMPs he had to stomach plus how does he fit culturally with the big three and how does the organization feel about him I think it’s obvious how Joe Leop feels but how does the rest of the or kind of view him So that’s I think to me the biggest question And then obviously after that it’d be what does the contract situation look like As we know he reportedly turned down I believe it was five for 150 million in last offseason because he was looking to get closer to his max So I don’t know I don’t even think if that offer might even be on the table at this point So what is a number that he’s happy with and the Dubs are happy with and is there a way to make this a happy marriage Steve Kerr did mention Shawn Marian and I don’t know if people think that’s insulting but Shawn Marian was a great player and he was really important to the 7 seconds or less Phoenix Suns and who probably they could have won a championship They were that good And Shawn Marian was a kind of do everything great defender an efficient shot maker even though his shot form probably made people cry It would be great if Jonathan Kaminga ended up as good as Shawn Marion But I am remembering also there was this book 7 seconds or less that I read about the Danton Suns Steve Nash sons And as I remember Shawn Marion actually was not happy with his role either There was a lot of drama Makes sense But from a basketball perspective he was super important and super good and effective So the Warriors are going to offer Jonathan Kaminga a qualifying offer right That is correct And you told me the qualifying offer was about $8 million Yep And that will qualify the Warriors to have Jonathan Kaminga’s restricted free agent rights So Jonathan Kaminga doesn’t sign this $8 million contract It’s just this offer that’s on the table And now anyone who wants to sign Jonathan Kaminga has to instead make an offer sheet which the Warriors can now match Yep Unless Kamingo wants to go to Erland’s Noel route and forgo a big contract to sign the qualifying offer and then become unrestricted the next year but I don’t think the agents would advise that So yeah it’s mostly just oh let’s talk that this scenario out briefly So Jonathan Kaminga let’s say the Warriors say we don’t want to offer you more than $10 million a year Good luck getting someone to pay you more on the open market We don’t think you can get that as an offer sheet so haha you’re doomed But JK could actually just say “I’m going to sign this qualifying offer of $8 million and just take my chances The next year I’ll be completely free and I’m just going to be a free agent and I’ll leave.” Yeah I mean it’s a plausible scenario We have seen it happen in the past as I just described with Norans Noel I think in his case he was offered something like 4 years 80 million from Dallas and he turned that down to sign his qualifying offer and that that allowed them to become an unrestricted free agent the next year But obviously I think Noel got hurt and I think the contract he ended up signing for the following season was a lot less than that offer from Dallas originally was So if JK truly is unhappy with the offers from the Warriors and he doesn’t get the type of offer sheet that he is interested in that is an option for him But I believe his agent will likely advise him to just take the best deal possible because contract security is very important especially on their profession So there is a little bit of counter leverage that JK has like the offer that the Warriors make him It it has to be better than JK taking the qualifying offer and taking his chances on the open market Yes Okay So do you have an opinion about what will happen as far as the Warriors contract offer It’s hard to say because I I just feel like Jonathan did no favors for himself this year and obviously the injury was a big part of that because he was playing great before it and then that kind of derailed things and when we did see them after it it wasn’t really great other than when Steph was out and they were leaning on JK to to make some things happen during the that late stage of the playoffs But but it’s been 4 years and we still can’t answer the question of can JK and Steph play together And that’s a really hard thing to try to navigate at this point because we’re in Steph’s twilight years and we’re at the point where we need to maximize his time And I’ve always been pretty bullish on JK as a player I think he can be really good in this league I think he’s allstar level I just I’m concerned that this isn’t the right environment and team for him to achieve that in So in terms of looking at what numbers would make sense I think a lot’s just going to depend on what the market looks like I don’t know if JK is going to have a very strong one which will obviously give the Warriors more leverage in terms of the offer they can give him That 5150 that was on reportedly on the table last year I think it’s going to be below that If I had to guess maybe like 25 million a year and maybe even that is generous I honestly couldn’t say I think Bobby Marx was ballparking Kaminga in a in a neutral setting at something like 15 to 20 million which seems a little low to me but Bobby Marks is a somewhat neutral source Yeah there’s a question of how people value him and then how much they can actually offer him And so as far as the valuing part I was really grateful that JK stacked up the points in the playoffs after Steph went out if only just to build up his trade value A team that takes JK on is going to be banking on the idea that the Warriors were the wrong situation the wrong role the wrong development for JK and they can do better Yeah absolutely It’s entirely possible that is the case I think JK has shown that he’s he’s a good scorer I think he would probably work better in more of a P&R setting where he’s working a lot downhill and he’s got some shooters to kick out to It’s a lot it’s a lot more difficult for a player of his type to work within the Steve Ker offense moving without the ball being in the right places Not to say that there isn’t a world where he can excel in that but so far it’s been a challenge And we’ve seen players before who’ve come into the system not had a great time Kelly Hub is an example and then go off to teams that play a little bit different style and it works better for them So it’s entirely possible that JK can become the version of himself he believes he is in a new environment So now thinking about teams that can actually make an offer for him So any team could try to arrange some kind of sign and trade and we’ll talk about that later But what teams in the NBA could actually just straight up offer him a big contract Yeah Kind of looking at the NBA landscape there isn’t really many teams who project to have space I think really the only team realistically that does is the Brooklyn Nets And so far from what we’ve seen the Nets haven’t shown a ton of interest in JK so far They have Cam Thomas who they need to resign And then I think Brooklyn probably wants to be a destination to dump as a dumping ground for contracts There’s a lot of teams who are in second apron territory Boston we’ve heard a lot of rumors about who are trying to escape that and are going to look to offload contracts So it looks like Brooklyn is more interested in doing that They I think would obviously be the only realistic halfpace team and I feel like it would not be the worst fit for JK just because Brooklyn doesn’t have a ton of talent on that team So have a focal point like JK would make some sense But so far it just hasn’t really seen they’re interested in him so far And I do know that Dub Nation loves Cam Johnson and he’s in my mentions constantly as a possible trade target But to not dampen hopes I just don’t see why Brooklyn does that Even if they wanted JK they can sign him out right with an offer sheet So I don’t think a Cam Johnson trade is in the books unfortunately I did see a quote from the Nets that they weren’t interested in JK but they were very willing to rent out their cap space In this time of the year of course there’s all kinds of posturing that teams are doing So we can’t take everything that teams say at face value but it’s not looking good for JK just getting a straight up big contract from Brooklyn Yeah I mean it is worth noting Shawn Marks is known for throwing out offer sheets to annoy teams He’s done it in the past with Allen Crab and Tyler Johnson So I don’t even if that’s what we’re hearing I don’t know if it’s completely off the table I do feel like Brooklyn would be maybe more interested in Quinn and Grimes or Josh Giddy or something of that nature but yeah I think at this point I wouldn’t really look at Brooklyn as a likely destination And that kind of crosses off the terms of Cav space teams There’s a couple others who could maybe open up some space but I don’t think then it’s realistic enough to really think about So that’s why the sign and trade option has been so much discussed because Kaminga’s future in Golden State is tenuous and it makes sense for him to wind up somewhere else and if a caps based team like Brooklyn doesn’t come out then sign and trade is going to be really the avenue for him to achieve that Okay So how so I’m a team now that’s over the cap so I can’t sign Jonathan How can I get him from the Warriors If we move into sign and trade it’s going to work a little bit differently The way sign and trade works is the Warriors would sign the player and then trade him to the team that is interested in him For example let’s say I don’t know Chicago wants Kaminga So the Warriors would sign him to a contract It has to be three to four years in length only 5% raises and it can be up to his max So if Kaminga would resign with the Warriors he could get 8% raises and he could also get a fifth year But they the Warriors couldn’t do that and then trade him So for the sign and trade specifically it has to be three to four years has to be 5% raises But yeah the Warriors would sign him and then they would immediately trade him to the team of his choosing And then what’s what’s the max for Kaminga It’s 38 million Okay So then there’d be a trade Yes But we Yeah Well we’ve been hearing about this legendary baseear compensation where in a normal trade Jonathan Kaminga is making 38 million more or less You look for $38 million worth of players to match the salary There’s actually it’s more complicated than that but and then you make the trade But for some reason Jonathan fits into a certain category where his salary doesn’t count as say 38 million but would only count as half of it Yeah So this is where base year compensation comes into play which I normally refer to as BYC This is only applicable in signin trades and it only happens if the player is a bird-free agent They’re signing for above a minimum salary They’re signing for more than 20% of their previous salary and the team that is signed and trading them is over the cap So in the case of the Warriors coming as a bird free agent he’s getting above the minim He’s getting above 20% of his 9.2 million from last year and the Warriors are going to be over the cap though BYC comes into play and then the way this complicates things is as you said it’s going to lower his salary to 50% or previous but in this case he’s going to be 50% for what he signs for So just to play out that this weird situation like Jonathan Kiming is making 9.2 2 million if he only gets a 20% raise of that’s like a little under 2 million So he’s at 11ish million like in theory the Warrior he could sign and trade for his full salary at below 12 20% of his previous salary Yeah So they could sign and trade him at that 11 million and he could come back for whatever the applicable salary matching is for that 11 million I think it’d be close to 19ish Obviously in Kaminga’s case if you’re being offered 11 or you can just take your qualifying offer at eight and then test free agency next year I think that’s makes the decision easier for him to go that route I think that’s more relevant if we look at Cavant Looney or Gary Peyton They would both also be subject to BYC So I think it’s more relevant in their case If you want to use those guys to pump up the salary in a big deal you would definitely sign them to something that is below that 120% to make sure Bassier doesn’t come into play And and actually that brings up so my understanding of the whole reason for basier compensation is that they the NBA was trying to stop questionable moves where you’re trying to make a trade work You can’t find the salary to match So you say “Hey Gary Payton I’m going to sign you to $38 million and you can now be part of this trade and it’s to discourage that kind of thing.” Is that your impression Yeah that’s exactly why it’s there It’s just not allow teams a loophole to scrunch together some salary to make it work So it basically limit the way they can think of how we can build a salary structure that allows us to get this player Okay So then for sign and trade do you think there are actually teams who would want to sign and trade for JK You know it’s a good question It’s tough to really gauge what the market is I think the last couple of years we’ve heard rumors that the Warriors that there have been interest in Kaminga and the Warriors have been we’re okay we like him and they’re holding out trying to trade him Going through all the themes I feel like what makes more sense to me is a team maybe a younger team that doesn’t really have a star and they would just want kind of someone to not necessarily build around but someone to give them a little juice So JK is still young athletic he has a good skill set Maybe he can at least put up some points in the right environment Some teams I’m looking at to start I think Chicago they traded off Zack Lavine This is the first kind of offseason that they seem to really actually look at potentially rebuilding They do have Josh Giddy restricted free agent himself and they’re likely going to try to bring him back So that’s one domino there If you look at that roster it’s lacking some sort of juice So maybe Kaminga could make some sense as a sign and trade option there just to get a guy next to Giddy I mean Giddy’s a passers guy You know Kuminga can kind of be your primary scorer You can put some guys around them Plus Chicago has some pieces I think the Warriors would find pretty interesting Kobe White is a name a lot of Warriors fans talk about The Warriors have had issues with ball handling in their second unit White could come in play that role maybe even start some games in that back court with Steph Jaylen Smith another guy I think would be interesting as a rotational center option Would probably even start on this team especially given that you know he can hop out to the three-point line banks him in there Lonzo Ball again as a secondary ball handle and then we’ve heard the Vousvich rumors for years I don’t know if the Warriors necessarily would want him at the 22 millionish salary figure to be their starting center I think Chicago has some interesting rotation level lower starter level pieces that if you’re losing JK getting in one or two rotation guys isn’t the worst way of doing it So if the Warriors wanted Kobe White what would JK have to be signed for to make that work If we come over here to my trade machine I’m going to put this to 1288 So that’s Kobe White If we come over here to the Kaminga extensions this kind of shows you how things work right So this is the BYC and then this is what JK’s actual salary is So I don’t know what figure did you say 25 I was just guessing twice 13 million So 26 Yeah Yeah Let’s do 26 in there So outgoing salary is 13 which means that his allowable incoming they can trade JK for a player making up to 21.5 which is actually funnily enough Lucish’s number So we don’t necessarily need JK at 26 Maybe let’s bring him down to Bobby Mark said 15 to 20 Maybe 18 is a nice little sweet spot there And yeah that’s still enough for Kobe JK’s outgoing salary is going to be 9 million I’m going to put that in here So yeah that’s enough to bring in Kobe White and then he’d occupy one of those slots and then you kind of have to figure out the rest of the roster So you can theoretically do that It just depends on how much JK signs were I don’t know if I’m just used to old rules or whether they’re rules for really large contracts but I feel like like within 25% used to be the thing but this is way more than 25% Yeah So the CBA actually changed the way siren matching is So if I click on here you can see how the breakdown is The way it works is it actually increases every year based on the cap change But for any salary that’s going to be less than this amount the most you can bring back is going to be 200% of that plus a 250k buffer Now if you’re sending out more salaries so in this case we’re sending out this 9 million which is more than that It’s going to hop over to this next one which is as long as it’s under 29 million you can bring back what you’re sending out plus 8.5 million on top of it So that’s what allows us to bring in Kobe White And then the bigger salary right If it’s over 29 million that’s when that 125% comes in with the 250k buffer Still it’s complicated for us trade machine fanatics because it’s not just half of JK’s salary that we’re looking for Then also with signing trades you can put in more players than JK right Yeah So the Warriors are more than free to add anyone from here Why don’t we just do a quick hit around and you throw some names at me and teams that maybe could be targeted for a sign and trade for JK Sure All right Moving off of Chicago another team in the same realm of needing like some more juice on their roster I was looking at Portland as an option I don’t necessarily love the type of pieces they have available Robert Williams I’ve always been interested in but that’s a big held question mark Denny Abdia maybe would make sense as a rotational player Anyone there you think would be interesting I think Avia would be really interesting but I think Portland sees him as a building block of the future I’ve always loved Robert Williams but yeah the guy just cannot stay on the court But for AIA you think even if they throw in JK and a little pick sweetener they wouldn’t think about it I don’t know I know some Portland fans and they really think Aia is like a mini LeBron So I don’t know about that Yeah All right I did not know Portland valued him like that but you know that’s just my impression You know you never know Utah is another team Obviously they have Lii They could use a second guy there So far none of their draft picks have really shown a ton of promise Again similarly to Portland I don’t necessarily love what Utah has on the roster John Collins I think makes too much for what he’s worth Same with Colin Ston Jordan Clarkson’s kind of old but they do have a couple of younger pieces I would be interested in Kenyan Martin pretty solid role player Walker Kesler could be a good starting center and then Kee George has shown some promise So maybe you could turn JK into a combination of those younger guys again Maybe Utah would want some draft compensation in there knowing Danny A but that’s something I was looking at Yeah the whole Age thing I’m so tired of thinking about trading with Danny A That whole market in thing was just too much Yeah very fair In hindsight I mean I think they should have taken the Li trade that we were offering but it is what it is Yeah Utah missed a chance to rip us off there Okay who else we got possible Last but not least I think in terms of the needing another piece I like Washington example Now I have Jordan Pull on my list here I don’t think that’s reasonable for a couple of reasons but um yeah we’d have to move at least one more player I think before that happen Yeah not to name names but there’s a specific person who would have to be departing for that to work But P has worked before in the Warriors uniform So just putting that out there But another name I think would be interesting is Marcus Smart He’s been quiet since he left from Boston but that’s a proven winner right there I think he’d be a pretty seamless fit And Cory Kispert is a guy I remember the Warriors were interested in in the pregab cycle and he’d be a pretty solid role player So I think there’s some pieces on Washington while not the most glamorous but would be interesting at some level Yeah Kisser was a dead eyee shooter in college And I think actually I don’t know what he’s shooting in the pose but if he’s shooting something reasonable the Warriors desperately need shooting Moving on from that category I have what I’m calling the need a second banana category My first team in this is Detroit Obviously you have Cade who is a superstar He got some nice young pieces in Ivy and Duran but I feel like Detroit could use a guy like JK there as a second banana Tobias Harris he’s their starting power forward but he’s on the older side He’s more of a role player I think at this point I don’t know if the Warriors would be interested in that He does make like almost 27 million Tobias Harris over me That we’ll see if how Jimmy feels about that one Someone like Isaiah Stewart who’s only a rotation player in Detroit maybe could even start in Golden State as a solid center And then I’ve always been a huge fan of Simone and Techio Just a really solid role player Again two more not the most glamorous but like interesting role players that you could turn JK into Oh okay So then I see the Heat are on your list here Reunion with Andrew People have been talking about it I mean it’s that there’s reportedly the Heat do have some interest in JK so it’s not completely off the table We know Wiggins has worked in a Warriors uniform before I actually feel like he’d be a better fit with Jimmy than JK is So it does make some sense Yeah definitely Well okay Dub Nation certainly will love Wiggins coming back People were in mourning when he was traded for Jimmy Butler which is just a sign of how much he had developed and how much he meant to the team given that when he was traded to the Warriors Dub Nation was in shock They felt like uh this is all we can get for D’Angelo Russell’s an all-star Wiggins is the worst contract in the league but how times have changed Duncan Robinson also has a pretty decent contract I He’s a bit of a streaky shooter but could make sense in this roster as well And I’ve always liked Haywood Heismith Again another player I think would be a good role player So he’d have some interesting pieces I don’t know how real their Kaminga interest is and how workable it is but I I know Dub Nation loves their returns So I think Wiggins would be welcomed for sure And Duncan Robinson we know he’s worked with Jimmy Butler in the past I don’t know how many more years he has on his contract but if the Heat are willing to play ball I could see that as a possibility Duncan also makes sense because his contract is partially guaranteed So it’s a 20 million contract $20 million contract but only 9 million is guaranteed And because only the guaranteed portion of contracts count for trades it would actually make matching with Kaminga and BYC pretty easy So something worth considering Intriguing So that’s the main teams I was looking at in terms of fit and interest in JK shaking things up a little bit looking at some more mystery teams in the course of this research There’s actually one name that really stood out to me that I think would be really interesting Now I don’t know how realistic it is but Norman Powell and the reason I bring up Pal is he’s 32 years old It’s on the final year of his deal Obviously he had a really good season with the Clippers but we know the Clippers have shown interest in JK in the past and I feel like JK on a long-term deal for them next to Kawhai next to Harden I think that roster shakes up a little bit better with the fit than with Norman in there And plus the Warriors have been looking for a starting two guard a guy who can score take off some load from Steph So I don’t know how realistic it is but I feel like it’s a pretty good match for the two teams I don’t know What do you think I would love that Norman Powell is a really good player That would be great You think the Clippers would go for it though I don’t know I don’t you get the sense that they’re win now right now that Harden and Kawaii like how many more games do they have left in them and given that they’re not always available particularly thinking about Kawaii just having Powell there to move up to the number two option feels like a real good part of their team So I it does but at the same time I do feel like the Clippers don’t just want to bottom out And I mean considering Norman’s age and the fact that he only has one year left on his deal if you can turn him into a young player like JK on a multi-year deal that kind of gives you the ability to maybe extend your title window if JK develops the way that he does And I do feel like next to a guy like Harden who you know in his older age has become more of a setup guy than a go-to guy And someone like Kawawaii who doesn’t necessarily always need the ball in his hands maybe that’s a more optimal fit for JK All right I’m sold Yeah Another one I was looking at was Cleveland They’ve been running this too big thing for a while They had a phenomenal season this year but they flamed out of the playoffs and maybe that is a wakeup call that they should try maybe changing things around Jared Allen has been a name that’s always been on the trade block even when Cleveland has been good and the Warriors have been crying out loud for a center So I don’t know if maybe Kaminga Evan Moy back front court makes a little more sense than the current configuration but just an idea to throw out there It’s part of the team DNA of the Warriors We will always be looking for a big man and we’ll always be disappointed That is the team DNA So yeah Doug Nation loves any big man unless they do any idea or concept of one I honestly don’t really know what the Kings ever are really doing So I feel like they’re always good to throw in there as an option They have this committed core right now of Lavine D Roz and Sabonis It very clearly was not I think working to the point that they want to Now I don’t know if throwing Kaminga in there is going to fix things but it definitely makes it more interesting and it gives them someone a little younger more athletic some more upside So again I don’t know straight up for D Rozan if that works if the Warriors even would want to add D Rozan to next to Jimmy and Dre how that would look Malik Monk I think is a guy every team in the league covets but there’s some pieces that I just don’t know how much it really makes sense for any team involved So does Sabonus work in the trade machine Sonus makes a little too much money So we’ll get into it more when we look at some bigger pieces but there comes to a certain point where if a player makes like I was looking at like above 35 it makes it too hard to really figure out a trade unless you start involving Draymond or even Jimmy Sabonis doesn’t work I think Okay just from a basketball point of view he can shoot it He is a big his decent defense He did get into it with Draymond but that’s describing a lot of people in the league And as I understand it politically Sabonis was not happy with the firing of Mike Brown There’s been this whole dramatic takeover of the leadership inside Sacramento by Vivic’s daughter And so it’s getting really weird in Sacramento So I wouldn’t be surprised if Sabonis was asking out but it sounds like it’s too hard to get him It It’s a challenge for sure So I can’t say I’m all that excited by the list Some of them were Norman Pal baby Let’s do it Come on Clippers Okay Yeah I’d go for that That’s the only one honestly going through this that I’m like I like that Like the other ones I’m like okay with but none of these are that exciting I think so So what other possibilities are there for JK from that point on if they don’t love any of these sign and trade options and no offer sheets come in from Brooklyn or whoever else The last real thing they can really do is just resign him either to keep him or with the idea of trading him in the future Obviously if they resign him January 15th is going to be the day that the trade restriction lifts on JK and it’s going to be easier to do trade matching since BYC at that point will not no longer be relevant So it opens up more optionality in that way Plus as the season goes we tend to see that things can change pretty quickly in the NBA players who weren’t available in the offseason can become available So plus we saw the Warriors did it this last year There was rumors of Paul George and Larry Markin and they didn’t pull the trigger on anything They just waited until the deadline and that’s when they brought in Jimmy I do feel like kind of looking through it this is where things are headed Just hold on to JK like a decent tradable salary figure See if you can’t make it work Maybe there’s a way that this doesn’t blow up in their face and coming actually adapts to their play style and they can get the best out of him And if not hopefully you can at least get that value up a little bit Maybe be like a tradable asset in terms of getting something getting some help with the deadline I guess we’ll just have to see how that part unfolds When are we going to know as far as JK’s decision Yeah the Warriors have to submit the qualifying offer by June 29th So that’s the end of this month And then from there free agency opens up start of July So that’s when you know all these generally within the first couple days all these things get ironed out It might be a little more interesting with JK just cuz he might be holding out for an offer but I feel like the longer you wait the worse offers tend to get So I would expect this situation to be resolved within the first week of free agency but you never know Sometimes there’s surprises The first week of July then Yeah Perks thank you so much for digging into this and trying to explain the very complicated situation with 1. The thing about JK is we'll never have the best Kuminga because the offense is built around Curry, so there's no reason to keep him here and continue to hold him back. I love having him on the team, but he's just better off somewhere else where he can be the guy — we'd be better off getting a 7' rotation center to pair with TJD.

  2. Do either of the teams currently in the finals blow 70-80% of their payroll on two players? Feels like GS is still operating on an old paradigm and will not be able to compete with younger, deeper teams that aren't nearly so top heavy.

  3. Dump the guys over 35 yrs old. 100 million. Keep the 22-25 year olds and free agent, + fire the coach. Next gen.

  4. thats crazy cus steph is getting older and you would want a young star going at his defender to constantly take the pressure off of stephs legs all season long but idk alot of ya fans look at the situation so wrongly like no steph needs the ball all the team every play for steph how abt we have someone create smt for steph out of nothing isnt tht y we got jimmy and all this jk cant play with steph all started this year idk where those rumors came up prolly around the time he got benched for looking off steph in a portland trailblazer game lol in which u would want steph to do less heavy lifting but maybe thats just me

  5. 3 reliable: curry, kuminga, butler. 2 sometimes ok but you can't count on them, fall apart at crunch time: buddy, brandin. needed: real dominating center, not just some tall guy who wimps out. wish we had back: KD, chris paul, donte

  6. For Coby White, JK's contract would have to be 18-21 mil per. Any more, the deal fails on the Chi side because they don't have the room to absorb a 26 mil contract, as first proposed in the video. I use the Spotrac's trade machine which factors in the CBA rules.

  7. the warriors have how many coaches ??????????????????? sitting there on da bench all dressed alike like in STAR TREK …trekkies ! o.k. So u'd think the trekkys with super I.Q.'s could put there Starship gallactia super brains with pointed ears together and figure out how to incorporate KUMINGA into the BIG PICTURE like they did with old man duranto. Currio accomodated duranto ,he can not only do that but also help make KUMINGA ALL STAR and take the pressure off curio's legs and minutes and extend hiz CAREER to match le blondys and then break more scoring records and more rings!

  8. Andrew Bogut spoke highly of Taran Armstrong on a podcast episode I came across…πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’›

  9. ngl, this was boring AF. I guess you gottta do better next time for once. lol Off season sux.

  10. 19:50 Wth happened there and how long does it last!? πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Can't hear a word you guys are saying now… 😒😭

  11. kuminga's probably better than any options presented so far. so yes, sign him and look for trades at the deadline. Or keep him if he develops his game.

  12. We have to trade Moses Moody no matter what. He is the only contract that can bring back a better fit player. We have too many wings and we need a better balanced roster

  13. Deni I have to think is almost totally untradeable in a conversation for JK. He's on one of the best 5 contracts in the league (basically 3 years/$39 million and declining every year) and he averaged 23/10/5 after the all-star break. I don't see them moving him at all.

  14. I dont get why the warriors want to build around 3 old guys they ran out of gas w out curry nobody except jk could get to the rim team should go thru jk and curry

  15. hello everybody, sorry about the audio mistake lasting from 19:42 to 20:52. YouTube doesn't give me an easy way to fix it, so I hope you can work around it. Thanks.

  16. 🀯 super educational and interesting conversation. However, I bet your vid on JK's shooting issues brought down his value about $10mil sooooooo😏

  17. Maybe a third team would have to be involved but my instincts tell me what at least makes the most sense psychologically as to which team the Warriors Sign and Trade with JK to is Washington.

Don't think Dubs want much of what The Wiz have, but if they could receive player(s) from another team i could see Washington being interested in seeing what they had with a Poole-Kuminga and their other young pieces such as Sarr, etc.

Both for that's just very Washington-y. And position-wise for the Wiz it fits. And it creates on the Wiz a young core that they can aim to "rise up and become better than the Dubs" energy, using "discarded Warriors dynasty era players"…not that they are all trippin on that, it's very subtle in that way GMs try to vision fits and realistic ones they can trade for.

I'm not predicting this. But from the teams you guys talked about as being possible landing spots for JK in a sign and trade…yeah, seems from here that the Wiz could be a trade partner.

I just don't think the Warriors can keep experimenting with JK, for JKs sake and the teams and it's almost certain in my mind…been wrong before though. Sure seems likely though. Maybe a team nobody mentions, happens all the time. But Washington has a raw young nucleus with Gs and Sarr, JK could fit there, Sarr shoots (too many) 3s.
