Magic make SURPRISING moves… This has SERIOUS implications

the Orlando Magic stayed busy on Tuesday as they were able to make a couple of moves that finalized the Desmond Bane trade they obviously had him in a photo shoot as you are seeing here jeff Welman Jamal Mosley and multiple players ended up commenting on the trade including Desmond Bane himself so we’re going to get into exactly what they were able to do yesterday as well as some of the crazy rumors that are flying around such as Kevin O’Connor thinking that the Orlando Magic are in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes as well as who could potentially be next involving a trade for the Orlando Magic what is realistic we know Jonathan Isaac is potentially on the trade block and Nquille Alexander Walker is a name that I’m hearing a lot now coming around Magic Circle so we’re going to get into everything that is being talked about with the Orlando Magic and all of their moves but first guys make sure that you subscribe to the channel 30% of you guys are subscribed thank you so much thank you for the support now let’s get that 70% to come on in join subscribe and join this Orlando Magic basketball community that we have here on YouTube okay so the Orlando Magic needed a little bit of cap help we didn’t you I I know like we knew we they were going to a dangerous spot as far as the second apron was concerned this deal needed to uh be processed yesterday and to do that they had to decline both team options for Gary Harris at 7.5 million and Cory Joseph at 3.47 million for the 202526 season as they are as a part of the Desmond Bane trade now if you were curious as to whether they needed to do it to keep these teams on the roster well as far as current projections are concerned no they actually did not as far as next year’s current 2025 salary cap projections are concerned need to decline their uh their their salaries and their team options but because they are working since they it is before free agency with the 202425 salary cap they had to to make this deal uh occur and have it uh continue on i’m going to try to read out a little bit of what exactly is going on as far as why they had to uh deny or decline those trades um it was according to the new CBA rules the Magic triggered their second apron by aggregating the salaries of KCP and Cole Anthony for Bane uh teams trading away after the regular season ends and before the start of the free agency operate with the 202526 player salaries but under 202425 salary cap and apron figures so while the 2526 roster projects to be below the 2526 second apron we think after making this trade they actually need their 2025 26 roster stay under the much lower 2024 25 second apron following the trade um there’s a cap sheet and it does show uh some of the different things about this deal uh France Vagner counts as 35.1 million worth 25% of the 202425 salary cap since his actual 38.7 million maximum salary is technically still just a projection based on 25% of the 202526 salary cap the 25% max for 202425 is applied to this as well with all of that accounted for declining the team options of Harris and Joseph leaves them just under the second apron and on and this is the 2024 25 cap so uh they may very well decline Movagner’s option too eventually down the line if they are trying to make maybe other moves or something else happen but for now they’re below the second apron and can decide on him later uh and they’re obviously pretty far below um you know in 2025 26 even even as is um so they’re they’re below next year’s second apron um without declining those deals but uh so so they have more flexibility than maybe we would have thought but to do this trade and to make sure it happened they needed to do those different things uh one final kind of word on both of these players obviously Gary Harris was kind of the butt of the joke uh last season and he did play very good defense but it just simply wasn’t enough from him offensively there were too many games where he wasn’t able to produce anything i think it’s good that we see him go 7 and a half million is just too much money we can use that you know in a smarter way next year uh and Cory Joseph actually filled in late as the starting point guard and was very good but over time it just you just knew that he wasn’t going to be uh part of this team and their plan going forward and I personally like the move i think if there was two players that you decided to get rid of on top of KCP and Cole Anthony it was probably going to be these two guys so I think it’s a good thing i think we pretty much get Desmond Bane and he can replace anything that any of those players do combined uh so I think that this is a very positive trade overall um and that is where we are with that now looking ahead to exactly what is um new for Desmond Bane what is exactly uh you know what he’s going is he being welcomed in with open arms may you uh ask well yesterday he had his big photo shoot where everybody actually saw him in the Magic uniform he is wearing number three instead of number 22 obviously and Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Welman said a ton of different things about him i had a quote in yesterday’s or in the video a couple days ago and he was asked uh about the multiple future first round picks used to land Desmond Bane and their value to him and Jeff Welman spoke and said uh that’s a great question because we obviously don’t know what the value of those picks are right their future their their future picks um and then he goes into kind of just and and that’s up to us to determine what the value of those picks are obviously the one we do know is uh this year 16 clearly uh taking the temperature of this trade was our feelings about number 16 they didn’t feel like it was very high uh so we don’t so we have to bake that into how we look at the overall package and then going forward three of the remaining picks are under our control we feel that we’re betting on ourselves we feel like we’re going to be a good team we feel that the other unique thing about a guy like Dez being available to obtain in a trade is the fact that he’s just about to turn 27 so if we are a good team then we hope to be a good team for a while because our age profile is that our most highly paid core players are ages 23 to 27 hopefully we can come to an agreement with Paulo this summer and we’ll be having this conversation shortly and have this group together for a long time wearing magic uniforms so uh that essentially is to say that uh you have your future on your roster right now so f the picks let’s go we’re winning now and that is the direction of this franchise i mean they already see where the salary cap is going they had to you know offload two guys because they needed to stay below the the second apron of this year but they also kind kind of need to stay under the second apron they’re they’re pretty far under the second apron for next year as projected but they they still need to work salary cap so they’re in a win now mode whether almost you like it or not right so Jamal Mosley also said a couple things about what Desmond Bay could potentially do uh he offers space you see a lot of space his ability to shoot the basketball create his own shot handle the basketball in different areas just being able to have make quick plays quick decisions spacing on the floor for those guys to be able to allow us to get to the basket he’s he’s used to playing fast and that’s what we’ve talked about being able to speed up our game uh that so his ability to do that he’ll fit right in when it comes to that and that is kind of just opening up that game for Paulo Bancero and France Vagner desmond Bane was talking about Jamal Mosley i think that’s going to be another important relationship to make sure to watch coolcat that’s the best way to put it he’s going to empower us to be ourselves out there and that um just gave me the ultimate confidence that is uh this is going to be a great fit and a great spot for me obviously everybody’s singing each other’s praise very positive nature going forward and I think it’s an overall good thing uh to see what is going on and what is the hype about so okay so we need to move on to could Jonathan Isaac be end up being traded and also maybe potentially what’s going on with Mo Vagner well I would say that Mo Vagner right now is pretty safe being the brother of France Vagner I definitely think affects a lot of stuff plus he was the best scorer off the bench for this Magic team i think he’s the most adequate front court scorer and uh that this Magic team has on their roster so I think that they’re going to choose to keep him and then try to move the Jonathan Isaac contract which while it is descending is still something that is a little bit more pricey than you might you know end up assuming so I think they’re going to pick up the team option for Mo Vagner keep him on the roster for another year and then try to move that Jonathan Isaac deal maybe that does come after um in a sense like after the new league year is assessed you know something along those lines so they don’t have to do more gymnastics as far as the 2024 25 cap is concerned um but I think they’re going to try to offload him is Nquille Alexander Walker going to be that kind of person the reported Orlando uh interest in NAW looms pretty large right now the Magic can get the full mid-level exception by offloading Mo Vagner and Gary Harris in that case um neither are guaranteed sugane NW is like a perfect no allstars back court for Paul Frron’s uh team so obviously if they end up making uh you know Mo Vagner their guy as far as the uh the future of the front court is concerned maybe that denies Alexander Walker but also if they don’t have Jonathan Isaac in that sense maybe that’s where it comes from um last thing I wanted to touch on uh to give you guys uh Kevin O’ Conor said that the Orlando Magic what they would offer for KD Jonathan Isaac Anthony Black Jet Howard Gogaz and the 25th pick uh I saw this rolling around on Twitter a little bit too uh there were some Magic fans that were like “Guys you got to be honest with yourselves you would take this you would take this.” I mean at face value like the only player I’m really sad about giving up in that deal is Anthony Black i don’t even really care about the 25th pick cuz I don’t think Walter Clayton Jr is going to be available by that point um in the sense of giving it up for Kevin Durant so like it is what it is i mean I would do that trade if this was 2K but uh not exactly thinking that that’s even realistic because I the uh the I think Phoenix is going to need a lot more in return but uh let me know what you guys think not about the KD deal but about everything that’s going on and what are or what is a move that you think the Orlando Magic should do going forward after this Desmond Bane deal a lot of stuff going on a lot of a lot of hope a lot of optimism it’s good time to be an Orlando Magic fan but guys thank you so much for watching this video and I’ll see you guys next time with more Orlando Magic basketball content

  1. And we traded Cole Anthony. We better have a good plan here to get some effective guards, cause we have zero guard depth right now and Suggs is frankly injury prone.

  2. If they trade Jonathan, Isaac I’m done as a magic fan.The man blocked more shots and covered up for all your forwards changed more shots in 10 minutes a night. But you will keep a Goga or magner who doesn’t play any type of defense that Jonathan displays. Yeah I will be done as a fan and you are trying to tell me that Palo and France is going to be your defensive stoppers get the F##$ out here. You wouldn’t make it to the finals in this weak eastern conference. And you letting eaten and Parker dip the team . The only reason that mo stays on this team is because of his brother.

  3. Sorry for the miss spelling but this app changes what you type to what they want but I was trying to to say Weltmen and Wagner

  4. w all the hype + focus on the Bane trade, nobody is even mentioning that CoJo and Harris were just waived. it completely slipped under the radar.

  5. I've always felt that if Franz and Jalen were as good as they're supposed to be, then we don't need shooting!

Orlando is paying Franz $38 m next season and he's still a poor shooter, while Suggs isn't a real player maker/ injury prone 😢

  6. Jon Isaac shouldn't be moving… besides being the longest tenured player, he adds too much versatility on defense in a league with more more taller talents being able to "do it all" on offense.

  7. Why no one is talking about getting rid off Houston, the kid is no good, I will trade him with Carter for a draft pick, even De Silva is better than Houston

  8. Getting rid of Isaac would be a fatal mistake. His defense and rebounding give Orlando the best bench in the east, not something you want to give away.
Gary Harris and Corey Joseph were the right people to cut. They might decline Mo Wagner to negotiate something better than $11 million a year if it gets them under the apron. They don't have money and they don't want to break up the depth strength, so they might sign an available PG at the veteran minimum, like an Austin Rivers, for the bench and locker room. There aren't a lot of great centers available out there, so the three headed monster of WCJ, Mo and Goga is probably their answer as odd as it seems. With Bane and Suggs starting in the backcourt, we can't get a starting playmaker, plus we use our two point forwards as ball dominators, so they are the table setters. Bane was the big answer. Don't blow it by getting desperate.
