The Kevin Durant Trade Is PERFECT…

The Kevin Durant Trade Is PERFECT…

the Kevin Durant trade has finally happened he is headed to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks the 10th overall pick in the draft and a handful of second round picks and this is a trade construction that had been rumored for a while as we were getting reports about San Antonio Miami Minnesota Toronto changing around their offers or potentially you know what was on the table for them this Houston deal was always something that was there for Phoenix jaylen Green the 10th pick in the draft and some contracts and ultimately Houston didn’t have to add anything else to that package and that was what the Suns were waiting for this is why it’s taken so long as the Suns were waiting for some team to increase their offer some team to figure out some other piece that would take them over the finish line and ultimately they just decided that this Houston trade package was the best one out there houston is on Kevin Durant’s list of teams that he would like to go to he has a previous relationship with Imu Yodoka who was on staff when Durant was in Brooklyn and of course Durant’s fit with this Houston roster works really really well with their needs and I want to start with the Rocket side of this first and then we’ll get to Phoenix coming into the offseason everybody knew the Houston was going to be going after some kind of star it was clear that their roster was ready for the next step after getting the second seed in the West but then struggling at times in the postseason especially offensively and it was clear that they needed that focal point offensive guy at the center of their team and so we’re looking at Giannis we’re looking at of course Kevin Durant and KD is ultimately the guy that they land and the important part of this for Houston and the really interesting part to me is that they didn’t give up any of the future Phoenix picks one of the reasons that Houston was so heavily connected to Durant other than the Udoka connection and the obvious need on the roster was that they own the future first round picks that Phoenix would want in exchange for KD that they got via the the Brooklyn previous offseason trade and the assumption was that if KD ended up in Houston more than likely it would be as a result of the Suns wanting to get their own future first round picks back that didn’t happen and this deal for Phoenix we’re going to talk about it from their side later but it’s not like this deal all of a sudden makes them much better and so Houston not only gets KD but they’ve also made at least in an immediate sense the Suns pretty much worse so then that increases the value of their picks it is an unbelievable win for the Rockets that they were able to make this deal happen and keep those future Phoenix picks losing Dylan Brooks is going to hurt them in some ways but they’ve got plenty of guys in the rotation like Reed Shepard Cam Whitmore that they’re ready to step up jabari Smith Tory E all these guys will be able to play much much more without Dylan Brooks there and Jaylen Green although it’s definitely a loss and a young player that you would have liked to see develop if Jaylen Green had developed into the guy that they wanted him to be and needed him to be when they drafted him this deal wouldn’t have happened in the first place he hasn’t gotten to where they need him to be and they’re accelerating their timeline by trading for Kevin Durant there’s obvious concerns here in terms of the impending contract extension and because KD is on the list and wanted to go to Houston I would assume that it’s going to be pretty easy they’re going to sign him to the 2-year $112 million extension and he’s going to play his next couple of seasons with Houston you’re concerned about injury stuff if you’re concerned about age but for me if I’m the Rockets this is always a trade that I make happen you draw this line in the sand at Jaylen Green the 10th pick and some contracts and you let the Suns come back to you and say “Okay this is a deal that we’ll take.” And that’s exactly what happened the other side of this now for Phoenix this is a a more complex deal than it appears at first you get the 10th overall pick in this draft they’re going to be able to get a nice player for that and a young player that they desperately need to have be good they have got to nail that pick because like I said they owe some of their future first- round picks just going to be the best draft asset they’re going to have for a while and so it’s an incredibly important selection for them now and one of the reasons why it maybe seemed like Houston was the team that was going to end up with KD over the last week or so is because they’ve been doing a lot of work on guys right around this range in the draft and so obviously now they have that 10th overall pick the Jaylen Green part of this is going to get pretty interesting because one of the reasons I think this also took a little bit longer than people expected is because they weren’t really all that interested in Jaylen Green and more so were trying to find a third team to send him to and that hasn’t been reported as part of this trade so Jaylen Green’s going to be a Houston Rocket but the understanding is that they are definitely going to explore the trade market to some of these teams around the league that might want a young guard like Jaylen Green because obviously doesn’t play super well alongside Deon Booker doesn’t really fit their timeline as a 23-year-old and this is a franchise that wants to keep Deon Booker happy over the next couple of seasons so that he doesn’t request a trade and so ultimately I would be surprised if Jaylen Green was on the Rockets roster when the season starts but even if he was I still think it’s a pretty good piece to have depending on how he performs in a new situation it’s there’s there’s a possibility here where that contract looks really really tough over the next couple years but ultimately I think it’s a positive asset and they’re going to be able to either get something out of him or he’s going to be a nice piece for Phoenix the Dylan Brooks part of this is interesting as well it’s going to help them in an immediate sense alongside Deon Booker also a guy that if things go really poorly and Booker asks out or something Dylan Brooks is going to be worth something to some of these teams around the league that need that competitiveness and that 3 and D role player type guy and so ultimately it’s not terrible compensation in exchange for 36 37y old Kevin Durant with some injury issues over the last couple of seasons and an expiring contract ultimately this is the position that Phoenix put themselves in when they went all in with this group and it didn’t work out and then they tried to trade Katie at the trade deadline and then that didn’t work they just put themselves in a position where they didn’t have basically any leverage in these trade conversations durant could dictate where he wanted to go and ultimately that’s why teams like Houston didn’t feel the need to raise their offer in any kind of meaningful way and that’s how he ends up in Houston so now we keep an eye on what happens with Jaylen Green what happens with Kevin Durant’s extension and then obviously what the Rockets are going to look like going into next season if you’re going to grade this deal for me personally for the Rockets it’s an A+ the fact that you get Kevin Durant who is a perfect fit on this roster they have every other piece they have these exciting guys in the front court in men Thompson outshen great defensive player in Thompson great offensive player in Shangun you’ve got a a backcourt guy in Fred Van Fleet that’s going to be able to set up KD you’ve got shooting and spacing in Reed Shepard you’ve got all these other picks as well that you’re able to continue to use to improve the roster and you still keep those Phoenix picks that to me is the craziest part of all this i just would have assumed that the Suns would not trade with Houston unless they were getting one of their picks back and ultimately that’s probably the biggest part of the deal apart from you know literally adding Kevin Durant to a team that was the two seed in a very tough Western Conference last year it’s an A+ for the Rockets for Phoenix I’m going to give them like a C+ grade i can understand the value of the 10th pick and Jaylen Green like I said even someone like Dylan Brooks I’m sure is going to have value but it’s more so how they handled the trade situation as a whole not understanding where they were at obviously comparing this to what they traded away in exchange for KD a handful of years ago and really just misplaying the Kevin Durant situation for basically the entirety of his career in Phoenix and really misplaying it over the last year or so just strictly from a trade compensation standpoint this is not enough in exchange for Kevin Durant but this is a situation that they kind of forced themselves into they back themselves into a corner and this is a deal that they just kind of accepted that they had to take rather than a deal that they were really excited about now they could get a really great player with the 10th overall pick dylan Brooks could be really good for them they could get something really cool in exchange for Jaylen Green and maybe this is the trade that really turns things around but as of right now it’s a pretty messy roster in Phoenix next year if they keep Brooks and Green to add to Beal and Booker that’s a lot of like two three guards kind of just running around out there not doing a whole lot they’ve got a new head coach there’s a lot of things still to figure out in Phoenix and so I would give them pretty much a C plus grade here but the bottom line is we finally know where Kevin Durant’s going to be next year he’s going to be a Houston Rocket and I cannot wait to see what that team looks like with all these crazy athletic wings and defensive guys they’ve got all the shooting they’ve got like a really strong nine or 10 man rotation it opens up the possibility of more Reed Shepard minutes next year this is going to be a really really fun team in Houston next year they’ve got the coach they’ve got their star player and importantly if down the road they want to revisit the Giannis thing or someone else becomes available they have more assets to continue to make moves this was always the appeal whether it be for Houston or San Antonio this was always the appeal of a Kevin Durant trade is he’s really really good but his value is pretty low so you can trade for him and have stuff left over and that’s exactly the position that the Rockets have put themselves in by trading for Kevin Arant

The Kevin Durant trade just FINALLY happened. The Phoenix Suns traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and some 2nd round picks.

  1. As a suns fan. We are right back to being shitty. Why tf would we trade for ANOTHER sg
Jesus we traded our entire future for KD and got nothing back
Holy shit I can’t believe how awful our office has been.

  2. The Rockets made a TWO seed without KD and they were impatient to trade for a 37 year old player? Nah D+ trade only 2K would allow

  3. The Suns won this trade.. The Suns got to unload a 37 year old all star in his Twilight while getting an All Star (Green) before he hit his prime. Green had a bad playoff run buT THAT WAS HIS FIRST TIME IN THE PLAYOFFS.. HE NEED EXPERIENCE AND HE GOT IT THIS YEAR..

I would have to see what the rockets do to consider them a winner. make more trades etc. but on this day

    The SUNS won this trade.

  4. I wouldn't be surprised if they included the 10 pick to trade beal away just to get him off the roster for the next 2 years.

  5. A great trade for Houston. About as good a return as Phoenix could hope for. Any trade that gets Jalen Green off of the roster probably helps Houston. They can't find enough playing time for their rookies the way it is. So, they lost nothing.

  6. A+ is delusional

Kevin Durant 10 years ago, yes
    KD 5 years ago, as a 2 or a 3 okay
    KD today, no way.

And I'm a huge KD fan but he hasnt affected winning on a nightly basis in several years. This is a huge waste of resource's

  7. 0:25 Calling All Defensive Team, and a 14 ppg while shooting 40% from 3 Dillon Brooks contract filler is wild.
I think this trade is nearly perfect for both teams except Houston should have included FVV contract for Brad Beal since we know Beal dont fit in Phoenix with Green and Booker, and Houston needs a SG now. FVV has a team option for $40 mil. But I think Ime love Fred.

I also think adding Green, Brooks and the 10th pick makes the Suns better.
Suns can now have a starting 5 of Booker, Green, Brooks, Derik Queen/Sorber/Fleming, Nik Richard’s with Beal off bench.

  8. From Warriors fan. A+ on the trade for Rockets. They needed offense. They had good inside game. Now they have a great shooter. As long as they keep their defense, should be tittle contender.

  9. Houston got fleeced. Injury prone Durant on the downside of his career who will play maybe 3 more years. Suns with players and 6 first or second round draft choices.

  10. How Beals agent was able to finesse a no-trade clause into his contract needs to be studied

  11. Suns should try to call the mavericks and negotiate maybe a Jalen green for lively swap. Dallas gets guard help that they need desperately until Kyrie comes back. And Jalen green can play beside Kyrie when he comes back. Lively is a good young center for the suns to develop. I think that would be a win win trade

  12. this trade is a disaster and shows a complete misunderstanding of what the rockets actually need they didn’t need another get a bucket guy they needed a leader kevin durant for all his talent has never been that he’s not the vocal presence or emotional anchor you rally behind in tough moments by trading away dillon brooks the heart and soul of this young rockets team they gave up their defensive backbone and emotional leader for someone who disappears when it matters most they didn’t just lose toughness and identity they traded it away for empty scoring

  13. the fact that they gave up nothing for a flyer on a very still productive Durant is astounding. and the fact that it only helps their future former phoenix picks is unbelievable. Even if Durant gets hurt it wont affect them long. Hell watch them land Boozer/Dyanbantsa

  14. IMO this trade is pretty good value from the Suns perspective.

Durant’s value is at an all-time low.
    – Last year of contract
    – (as currently reported no extension signed)
    – was injured again last season
    – has given up on both of his last two teams
    – while his game should age beautifully he is up there in age.

I hope for the sake of the young guys the Rockets have that him being a threat to score can help them develop more than his threat to keep the ball out of their hands.

Thompson, Eason, Smith Jr, Whitmore, Reed and of course Sengun – all 23 or under and showing great signs.

  15. Calling this an A+ move is ridiculous. KD is past his prime, and he’s starting to look like a franchise killer. This year’s Final’s proves that adding aging superstars to a good young team is not the way to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if Houston’s record next season will be poorer than this season. They should have kept their flexibility for a better long term solution.

JA MORANT (GUARD)FROM MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES TO BROOKLYN NETS

JRUE HOLIDAY (GUARD) FROM BOSTON CELTICS TO NEW YORK KNICKS OR BROOKLYN NETS

KEVIN DURANT (FORWARD) FROM PHOENIX SUNS TO HOUSTON ROCKETS (FINAL !!!)

DEANDRE AYTON (CENTER)FROM PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS TO SAN ANTONIO SPURS

NICOLAS BATUM (FORWARD) FROM LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS TO SAN ANTONIO SPURS

ALEX CARUSO (PG) FROM OKLAHOMA THUNDER TO MIAMI HEAT.

DUNCAN ROBINSON (SG/SF) FROM MIAMI HEAT TO BOSTON CELTICS.

JONAS VALANCIUNAS (CENTER) FROM SACRAMENTO KINGS TO ORLANDO MAGIC

ANDREW WIGGINS (SG/SF) FROM MIAMI HEAT TO CHICAGO BULLS

NICHOLAS CLAXTON (CENTER) FROM BROOKLYN NETS TO CHICAGO BULLS

STEVEN ADAMS (CENTER) FROM HOUSTON ROCKETS TO CHICAGO BULLS

NIKOLA VUCEVIC (CENTER) FROM CHICAGO BULLS TO MILWAUKEE BUCKS

DeAndre JORDAN (CENTER) FROM DENVER NUGGETS TO BROOKLYN NETS

IVICA ZUBAC (CENTER) From LA Clippers to New York Knicks if Giannis Antetokounmpo will NOT be acquired by the New York Knicks.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (FORWARD/CENTER) FROM MILWAUKEE BUCKS TO NEW YORK KNICKS OR LOS ANGELES LAKERS OR MIAMI HEAT.

The trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat is still possible but has restrictions due to Salary Cap. If the deal for Miami Heat will not push thru, Giannis Antetokounmpo might move to another team. Another issue: Since Kel’el Ware, a young 7’-0” rookie Center is already dominating in the Miami Heat big man position, a deal for acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat might NOT push through.

Therefore, Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to New York Knicks instead as additional firepower for the Power Forward Position. In this case, Karl-Anthony Towns must play the Center Position.

Another option is Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to Los Angeles Lakers to play as the Power Forward Position. In this case, Power Forward Rui Hachimura might be traded somewhere else since he will be replaced by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama must be acquired by the LA Lakers so he can play the center position and Lebron James will play as the number 3 position/Point Forward. If a deal will push thru for Giannis Antetokounmpo to be at LA Lakers, I suggest that Rui Hachimura will be traded to Miami Heat to play the Power Forward position to partner with Miami Heat Center Kel’el Ware.

If in case, there is a Salary Cap Issue in Los Angeles Lakers, they will be limited to options.

The LA Lakers will do the option of acquiring just 1 big man and that is either Victor Wembanyama or Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Case 1: If LA Lakers will acquire Victor Wembanyama, the LA Lakers might not push to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo due to Salary Cap Issue. Giannis Antetokounmpo might find some other NBA team to settle down. He might go to New York Knicks or any other team or he can still stay at Milwaukee Bucks.

Case 2: If LA Lakers will acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, The LA Lakers might not push to acquire Victor Wembanyama again due to Salary Cap issue. Victor Wembanyama might find another NBA team if he wants to be traded. He also has the option to go back in France or in Europe to play for any French Team or any Euroleague Team.

  17. Jaylen Brown BREAKDOWN you're next video Sporting Logically 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤

  18. Couple inaccuracies here … @ 3:52 – Jalen Green IS NOT going to be a Houston Rocket, he'll be on the Phoenix Suns (unless they trade him) as he is one of the main players being traded for Kevin Durant; @ 4:11 – he meant to say he'd be surprised if Jalen Green was still on the Phoenix Suns … we know Jalen Green will not be on the Houston Rockets, he's part of the trade; @ 5:51 – Not sure why he keeps saying that it's crazy that Phoenix didn't get any of their picks back as the #10 pick is the Phoenix Suns pick. The Houston Rockets finished as a #2 seed in the West which means their own 2025 Pick is #27 (which they traded to Brooklyn).

  19. Phoenix just positioned itself to trade for Giannis. They are flush with picks, something the Bucks need. Not saying it will happen, but it crossed my mind.

  20. I think another major win for the rockets is not throwing in any more of the young core. The Suns reported wanted smith, Tari, or Sheppard on top of Jalen and the rockets did not budge. I even was sure whitmore would be thrown in and the suns didn’t even get that

  21. Funny to hear KD in Houston has always been the trade making the most sense when, not 10 days ago you said it was Giannis 😉

  22. I told you so. It is not to spurs as you predicted. Also KD will be missed most of 2025-26 season as he is prone to injuries. Rockets are going nowhere

  23. I LOVE this trade for both teams, Houston get a needed go to guy and the suns get young again

  24. I couldn't disagree more with this take. Rockets was a soft #2 seed. Could have very easily been anything between 2-8. They had a good start, and mid-season, but then faded. Adding an old Durant is good, but not if they lose two big contributors for him. With a shitload of other assets.

They're going all in on an aging vet, who is a good scorer, but that's about it. I don't think they improve with this trade.

  25. PHX literally got worst every year Durant was there. We need to stop talking like this is 2013 Durant or like the Rockets have a Curry/Thompson or many vet leaders either like the Warriors did. Them young dudes have to make a leap now cause KD is 37. So if things start poorly, you think these young players are going to get them same patience?! So all them 23 and under dudes have pressure now to take the the next step instead of mesh organically like OKC did, and KD ain't the leader type to get them there.
