two time Finals MVP as well kevin Durant traded to the Houston Rockets for Jaylen Green dylan Brooks the 10th pick in this week’s draft and five second round picks but here’s the thing katie was on a panel when he heard the news live let’s check it out you’re headed to Houston how does that sound [Music] all right so let’s view this from the prism of the Houston Rockets because we saw a team maudoka the last couple of years really turned them around smitty now so close does this put them over into being true contenders for an NBA championship well there was there was contenders last year i I think if if I’m looking from the outside in if you’re the Houston Rockets I I would say they wanted to get off Jaylen Green they got a chance to do that um Dylan Brooks is a 3 and D guy but they have the the unbelievable new age 3 and D guy with the Thompson Twin so and you you look at what they gave up yes the 10th pick but I think if I’m the Houston Rockets I achieved everything I wanted to achieve in this trade and then I acquired a guy that can get you 25 on two or three dribbles and he’s a guy that can finish games and he’s been through it so if I’m the Houston Rockets I got to be extremely happy channing when I hear what Smitty said and watching the Houston Rockets in this postseason a guy that can finish games that seemed like the missing piece for them it sure did there’s two things I like about this trade is you’re adding a a stone cold killer in KD and two I believe in Eay right i’ve known Eay a long time since we’re on the Knicks portland State guy his teams compete every single year from and and this is no disrespect to what the Houston Rockets were he came in there and and shut that stuff down and made that team number two in the West and now you added KD to me they need one or two more things couple vets on the bench and some height and size right now you think about how big the West is but Sangu Sanguini is not that tall kd is not that big so but remember you still got to go through Joker you still got to go through Minnesota you still got to go through San Antonio and some of these other team dallas is big for me these are great steps moving forward but Katie has to understand that this is not his team this is him to help them go to that next level i I actually love the move uh for Houston i mean when you look at Eay and you look at KD these are two of my favorite people so uh and Channing as you talked about with Eay I I was the one who told him “Hey look basketball in the NBA may not be your thing but you need to go into coaching right?” Cuz I thought he would be a great coach he and KD getting together in Phoenix I mean in uh in Houston let me tell you what that does okay houston now becomes one of the bigger teams in the West kd can go back to his natural position which is small forward where he dominates at and then they sign Steven Adams so you got your you got your your big people lined up now they’ll go out and they’ll find maybe another guard or so to come off the bench another vet i really like what they got but now they got championship experience over there you know I mean KD as a champion right vanblele and then you got Van Fleet i mean the these two guys you know have been champions in the NBA and then you have a championship coach even though he didn’t win in Boston but he’s coached in the NBA finals so when you look at what Houston has put together they got all the pieces they got everything to make it right i love the deal but I also love it for KD and I also love it for Eay again these are two of my favorite people you know from the Phoenix side of it obviously you still have Devin Booker who’s coming into his prime who’s one of the best basketball players in this league no doubt about that right Smitty but now Jaylen Green Bradley Beal doesn’t seem like those pieces fit perfectly around him do you imagine that the Suns will be making more moves before this NBA draft well I hope so i mean when you start talking about Bradley Beal you know a good player great player and rightfully so jaylen Green is young a good player and I’m a huge fan of Devin Booker i I I think if you look at this team if it stays the same it’s not great for Devin Booker but I think if you’re the Phoenix Suns you had to make a deal hopefully somebody else is still on the way moving out because Devin Booker what he’s done in this league in my opinion Isaiah Channing he’s given everything he’s had to that organization he’s been through coaches he’s been through general managers he’s been through owners he deserves again to have a chance and I like that he hasn’t really outwardly complained but I think he he deserves to have another chance and Zeke when we look at the Phoenix Suns with Kevin Durant there was like okay they’re going after a championship is that still the case for Phoenix post Kevin Durant you you can say that but when you look at the team that’s presently constructed as it is today and changes could be made over the summer but presently constructed today you have to say that this team probably is not ready to compete in the West for a championship now things will change and I and I echo what Steve said you know we we love Devin Booker but we know his father better Melvin right i mean that that’s all generations so Melvin is like “Okay.” And Devon is his son and so we always look out and we all show love for the Booker family right but we hope that there’s more to come because as you asked me the question is this team presently constructed to win the championship i think all of us would have to say no however of the no but but moving forward hopefully there’s more moves yeah well we have a lot more moves to be made on this show as we get you ready for the first game seven The trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat is still possible but has restrictions due to Salary Cap. If the deal for Miami Heat will not push thru, Giannis Antetokounmpo might move to another team. Another issue: Since Kel’el Ware, a young 7’-0” rookie Center is already dominating in the Miami Heat big man position, a deal for acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat might NOT push through.
Therefore, Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to New York Knicks instead as additional firepower for the Power Forward Position. In this case, Karl-Anthony Towns must play the Center Position.
Another option is Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to Los Angeles Lakers to play as the Power Forward Position. In this case, Power Forward Rui Hachimura might be traded somewhere else since he will be replaced by Giannis Antetokounmpo.
On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama must be acquired by the LA Lakers so he can play the center position and Lebron James will play as the number 3 position/Point Forward. If a deal will push thru for Giannis Antetokounmpo to be at LA Lakers, I suggest that Rui Hachimura will be traded to Miami Heat to play the Power Forward position to partner with Miami Heat Center Kel’el Ware.
If in case, there is a Salary Cap Issue in Los Angeles Lakers, they will be limited to options.
The LA Lakers will do the option of acquiring just 1 big man and that is either Victor Wembanyama or Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Case 1: If LA Lakers will acquire Victor Wembanyama, the LA Lakers might not push to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo due to Salary Cap Issue. Giannis Antetokounmpo might find some other NBA team to settle down. He might go to New York Knicks or any other team or he can still stay at Milwaukee Bucks.
Case 2: If LA Lakers will acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, The LA Lakers might not push to acquire Victor Wembanyama again due to Salary Cap issue. Victor Wembanyama might find another NBA team if he wants to be traded. He also has the option to go back in France or in Europe to play for any French Team or any Euroleague Team.
