14 but you know what we’re going to save those for the next coming days we’re going to talk be talking about today is it is official according to ESPN Kevin Durant is going to the Houston Rockets yeah we’re going to be discussing whether or not the Spurs missed out on that opportunity maybe they dodged a bullet and more also too is that’s kind of puts the Spurs further behind the pack in the West uniform uh there’s multiple reports my head was spinning every day like okay they’re saying this they’re saying that oh now he’s in it they’re not in the mix anymore but finally we have a res resolution it’s over the saga is over but did the Spurs miss out or did they dodge a bullet let’s talk about that with our guest he is back everybody mr raul Dominguez of the AP Sports follow him on X at Dominguez make sure to do that ASAP i will never miss out on trading for you Raul if you’re on the table I’m making a deal for you immediately i will overpay for you Raul that’s a a Was it a seventh round draft pick in the NBA like in the Yes that’s right i remember when it was multiple rounds man i remember that how long did it last i can’t remember was it uh but I remember the you know teams like the Spurs would pick up like players from other sports you know like Yeah some players they they thought might be a good NBA player because they were just they didn’t know who else to draft like I know this the new modified draft now is two days long as first round one day second round next day but I kind of wish it’s still in one day i don’t think you necessarily need a second round like a full day day dedicated to the second round so is and um I thought the NBA does a good job too they they kind of fly by the second round it goes quick yeah I think it was first round was made you know did that more for TV just first round kind of build up the hype and interview you know pick after pick and little stories so it’s definitely done for TV yeah we’ll have to wait till the Spurs second round pick the following day at what on Thursday I guess so uh we’ll see what happens there Raul so you heard the news i think everybody knows what happened kevin Durant is going to Houston according to ESPN and you know according to multiple reports I mean seriously there was so many out there you know the Spurs were one of the last standing i think it was them and the Rockets and the Heat but Kevin Durant goes to Houston raul did the Spurs dodge a bullet um I don’t know so much they dodged the bullet but I I think uh I think the Spurs did well by not giving away a lot i think the package that that the Rockies gave up to me just seemed seemed a little bit much to me you know not no offense to Katie one of my favorite players and you know great player you know great shooter great teammate great big leader i think he’s as well but uh you got to factor in his age the contract you know the fact that he’s you know final year of his contract I think he’s making 54 million this year I think you know and then he’s going to want an extension so uh then you give up a 23-y old scorer who I think is going to be an all-star dream oh yeah gave up Dylan Brooks who uh I know I know a lot of fans aren’t too high on him a lot of Spurs fans aren’t too high on them but to me Dylan really set the tone for the Rockets you know it’s just sort of how they became more of a defensive-minded sort of a gritty gritty team um you know and as well as a number 10 pick and then all those set up five second round picks uh to me that’s a lot so uh I think the Spurs maybe kind of dodged the bullet in terms of they didn’t give up uh all those ass all the asses that they have yeah yeah it would have been a similar hall would have been a hall yeah yeah i I think it probably would have been a steeper hall too because I think if if the Spurs were dangling number 14 I don’t think the the Suns would bite if they’re dangling number two I think it’s all but over i think Kevin Durant is a Spur you know you give the number two pick yeah here you go gift wrap them but it was quite the the package now in a bit we’ll get into maybe the Spurs should have uh brought him in but more on that in just a few minutes but as far as the Spurs not getting him to um uniform or that’s a good thing too and I think it’s just the long term because he will likely want an extension i think according to multiple reports San Antonio Miami and Houston were the teams that he was willing to do an extension with and that means the Spurs would have to pay out money with a lot of contracts that are going to be due soon wimi Sohan I think Sohan’s like the most immediate right now be a cell there was going to be Castle and I think that would have eaten into the Spurs pocketbooks and the Spurs you there are small market they they don’t have the pockets like New York or Chicago or LA so I think that would have hampered them as well another thing too why I think the Spurs are going to be okay is because they still got their young core you didn’t mess that up you still kept that look what Houston had to give up they gave up Jaylen Green which I I think kind of made him the face of the Rockets a bit you know I know it was him and Son but he was kind of out there i mean he’s he’s in Wing Stop commercials so but I think the Rockets would have wanted you know you since the Spurs don’t have a Jaylen Green they probably would have wanted multiple of the young guys likeel or Kell or Sohan or a combo of that so in in a way it’s a good the Spurs don’t mess with the chemistry that this team has been developing over the last few seasons ro your thoughts yeah I mean it it’s just um you know like you were saying I’m sorry uh you know ju just to me the young cord with the Spurs i mean you just uh um you know I I think the Spurs are really building something here you know and I just I don’t know how obviously uh KD would have been a great addition but look at it long term i just don’t see how how he would sort of fit in with that because I think the the timetable for for the NBA title was maybe you know couple years away maybe uh and I don’t think that Durant would have sped that up i I think uh they would have gone possibly gone farther in the playoffs but I just I still think they’re you know at least a couple years away with this young group uh jelling and sort of blending in there so you know I just uh you know uh I’m sorry and you I was looking at the contract kell’s contract is up he’s got this season and then next season and then he’s due contract as well so uh to me he’s to me Kell’s like the the heart of this team mhm you got you got to sign him you know keep him intact like with the team so uh you know that’s just uh you know too many pieces I think would would have shifted if they had gotten KD yeah yeah i mean you look at what Houston gave up i mean Dylan Brooks they mentioned too you know Rockets fans are saying man you know that guy was their glue he was their guy that kept them together he was that dog on the court for them and you would have lost something like that with Kell Johnson like obviously you know he doesn’t get all crazy like Brooks does on the court but Kell was that clue even if it wasn’t Kell you would have lost maybe a so of a cell I know there’s some Spurs fans out there like so what so what you know you’re bringing in KD more in that in a bit but this just reaffirms to me R that those are really committed to you that what Spurs fans always say you know we like the team we have and they definitely like the young core they have i mean just just this just further cements that they’re not skipping steps yeah i mean I I wouldn’t rule out a trade i’m not trying to start any Yeah rumors don’t aggregate Raul don’t aggate yeah you know get people hyped about uh Yeah you know uh but Giannis is still out there you know that’s true um but um man it just uh you know I think there’s still possibly out there but uh you know you you look at uh the core that they have i think you know right now I always talk about Oklahoma City oklahoma City is so deep right now they’ve got all this great young players they got all these draft picks coming in so they can either you know replace a player that they have or they could package somebody so there is no uh to me you got to build a deep team and you trade for a superstar and trade away you know three four uh you know good young players and one or two draft draft picks to me that’s putting you farther behind Oklahoma City because to me right now Oklahoma City is a standard and you know if you don’t have the the pieces to match up with them not just their starting five but their their bench as well yeah to me you know you’re in trouble and so so that’s why I I like what the Spurs are doing and the Spurs are are keeping their ass just to keep building just same way that Oklahoma City is yeah yeah exactly yeah they’re definitely letting this team cook and Houston not San Antonio and ask if they missed out or maybe they didn’t miss out so in the first segment we talked about hey everything’s fine to Houston Spurs are good they’re keeping with the rebuild forward all is fine we’re not talk about how maybe the Spurs did miss out and right off the bat Raul you can say you’re missing out in a basketball hall of fame a guy who despise H puts up numbers as we saw last year in Phoenix 20 plus points he would have given the Spurs an additional offensive threat where maybe Wimi won’t have to carry that much as well as Fox you’re also missing out on maybe pushing the Spurs at least speeding them up in the rebuild and maybe making them a playoff contending team versus a play in contending team look I know Houston overpaid and I get that but you can’t tell me the Spurs could have been maybe given up the sale 14 multiple second round picks that they have and you know just more filler to let the deal go through and I think the Spurs could have matched that price tag and they could have had another guy that would have instantly impacted the team in a good way and not to mention make Victor happy kevin Durant is his idol so what about that argument and I’m not the only one who sees that too there’s other Spurs fans out there to flip a table saying you could have done that Spurs what are you doing you’re not bringing in a guy that is just instant office a situation the Spurs often struggled with over the last few years uh just getting those points going a deep threat a three-point threat and Katie would have solved a lot of that wouldn’t he yeah I think he definitely would have uh you know like I said I had said I think on the one of the last episodes was Yeah if you can get KD you know that’s great he’s he’s going to help your team but I I’ll go and just you know say something a little different as far as like uh I I think Katie obviously would help but at the same time I think uh not having him I think also helps because you know you already have Harper Fox Castle WBY uh you know you have a lot of scorers already uh I I think KD would have taken away some shots from Wimby and his development uh taking the ball out of you know Castle or um Harper’s you know depending on who’s the point guard whether it’s you know more more of the the playmaker whether it’s Harper or Fox you know maybe Castle um but I think you know he would have taken the ball away from them out of their hands I I think I would like to see WBY develop to be that player that that Katie is where a guy that you just you know rely on to um you know make that last shot or to make the tough shot uh you know to to sort of uh dominate a game you know maybe you’re down by 10 points and there’s always one player on the other team you know you’re down by 10 points and that one guy just takes takes it on himself uh to have his own little run you know LeBron does that uh quite often uh you know I I think without KD I think uh as much as KD would have helped Wim and the team I think it helps uh Spurs not to have him in terms of I think this uh helps uh Wimi to be able to grow more because Spurs are going to rely on him more uh you know uh as as a big scorer for them yeah and and to further prove or at least talk to the other side about why the Spurs missed out and kind of leads into the other uh segment you see on your screen right now everybody is did this move push the Spurs back of the pack in the West that’s the other con perhaps there’s Houston you know getting a guy like KD that’s going to push them up well we’ll see what happens but on paper should push them up uh that is something they needed they needed another a potent dependable score they got it now do you think a con of the Spurs not getting Durant is seeing Houston get Durant pushing them further in the pack while the Spurs fall back a bit yeah you know I um like I said I’m I’m huge Katie fan but but if you look at his his postseason run you know other than with the Warriors you know he’s he’s struggling it’s not on him cuz he’s had some some big playoff games but for whatever reason it just doesn’t quite mesh well with with whoever whatever team he’s been with i think uh first he I think second round I think is the furthest he got with the Suns i think with the Nets I think first round I think they’re out so that you know there there’s no guarantee that that having them on that squad is going to lead to an NBA title um I think this definitely makes Houston better uh but how much better uh you know I still think Oklahoma City’s the the uh you know standard standard bearer in the West uh Minnesota is still a really good squad uh you know you look at uh uh Denver you know anytime you have Yokic you know that’s going to be a squad uh Spurs are getting better so uh I don’t know uh I think this makes Houston better but I don’t know how much better it makes them uh you know I I don’t know if this gets him past the second round you know yeah and then there’s that that’s a good point too is that in recent history uh Kevin Durant hasn’t really been the punch that a team needed to get him over the hump phoenix we all know what happened it was disaster brooklyn that was a complete disaster you know you went to a loaded Warriors team that was pretty much still in the peak powers but even then that fell apart in year two and he wanted out so there is that history there of just being you know falling out if things don’t work out so maybe the Spurs did avoid that blade if some reason it didn’t work out in San Antonio but hey look there are you know even even before it settled on Houston Rebel I was still struggling with Katie in San Antonio or not i mean I I could get why you bring him in and I can get why you don’t i was always like 50/50 if if we woke up today and oh Spurs had traded for him and Phoenix Sun said yes I wouldn’t be mad at that you know but now that he’s going to Houston I’m not mad at that either because they’re going to get an injection of at least on paper some power if the Spurs draft Dylan Harper in a couple days so perhaps that is their kind of big offseason acquisition ro your thoughts yeah you know Spurs is very very you know tight lipped you know just uh um I don’t know if they’re going to make any more moves i I still don’t think they they they keep the number 14 pick just because of style cap reasons and also because of what they want to do i still think they trade uh you know I wouldn’t or excuse me I wouldn’t be surprised if they create the number 14 pick maybe they moved down maybe they they stashed away for a draft pick in 200 you know 52 or something you know you never know with the Spurs but uh I still think there’s moves coming i think it’s a free agent uh you know Nas Reed would be a heck of an addition uh you know maybe some other big man um you know but I still think there’s another move for them coming whether it’s through free agency or small trade or big trade uh you know so I still think there’s more coming so uh but either way uh I think the Spurs did well this off seasonason even if they just draft Harper you know and say they keep their number 14 pick and don’t uh go after free agent you know which which again I I highly doubt I believe they will sign a free agent but even if they don’t do the other stuff I still think they had a great off seasonason in terms of not giving up too much uh you know like you’re saying you know if Spurs had gotten KD I would have said that’s great but I would have said well what did you you know would have Yeah my call to media would have been like what did you give up room so yeah you know uh I just I I think this is going to be a really good offseason regardless of what they do uh but I still think there’s some moves that that that Brian Wright and the Spurs for office are going to make that’s going to make the Spurs fans really happy i still think there’s a trade coming another trade coming we shall see by the way don’t aggregate Raul on that all right everybody he said he thinks a trade is on the way he’s not saying there is all right Raul well yeah we’ll see what the offseason is still unfold we got the draft coming up and remember the Spurs still haven’t addressed the big man spot and there’s is mentor and now there’s pretty good big man out there that the Spurs wasn’t Castle it was still kind of a lengthy wait remember mhm yeah we still waited yeah why Why did they take so long i mean they make the pick they make it official just done i think they want to wait till the end of the first round in case they want to make a move but uh yeah you just kind of relax probably afterwards and Spurs are draft night is like I I just picture this this war room you know where they’re all just you know talking about different things and different scenarios i’m I’m sure there’s a lot of uh you know uh you know talking amongst themselves you know as far as their picks and what somebody else picked and so you know I I would love to be a fly on the wall me chairs right yeah i I always wanted to be in a in a just an NBA draft war room just I don’t care if it’s the Rockets or the Celtics or whoever just I want to see what that’s like but now it’s time to play by or sell Ra Dominguez look at that getting all fancy here in lockdown Spurs look at that look how generic that is man like my nephew made that for me or something we’re going to play a game of buy or sell with Ro Dominguez he ask everybody we’re going to find out press the blue button and buy a question or is he going to sell a question when it comes to the silver and black impress with that fancy graphic there everybody all right the first buy or sell question mar doesn’t have any idea and he kind of saw my thunder already i got to ask this on my notes here buy or sell dispersal keep number 14 oh I I I sell that i I don’t you know I I I don’t think uh it would shock me if the Spurs kept the number 14 pick uh they didn’t keep this number seven pick last year um got a great you know uh asset for that uh in that trade with the the 10 rules but I I just don’t see them doing that at number 14 i think at 14 uh it’s not I think if the Spurs you know were kind of like where they were before where you know 14 to 20 is what they normally would pick i think they you know do everything to the best player looks good at that point but I think that they that since they have the number two pick I think 14 is kind of a luxury that I think that they need that they don’t they need as far as you know uh being able to trade that pick absolutely buy or sell that Devin Bell will become a bench player next season uh I I buy that i I Okay i I don’t um I don’t see how he where he fits in that starting lineup if you have Harper Castle and Fox um I think Castle needs to start uh his defense his playmaking ability his his sort of that fire he brings um you know then you know uh thinking maybe Jeremy Sohan starts if not then you still have Harrison Barnes uh I just think that Devin I I don’t see how Deon fits into that starting lineup with with with that much young talent yeah something’s got to give because let’s just say forces the Spurs to really think that as well about him you know like he’s balling out you know we’re months into the season and you know every time he comes in the plus negative numbers plus minus excuse me or high you know all that good stuff so it’s going to be interesting to see what the Spurs do with Deon Vel moving forward um you it’s just we’re just speculating here everybody do you think he would have been in the package though to Phoenix like Phoenix would have wanted him i I think I think Phoenix uh would would definitely want Devin i think Deon’s a great player uh you know I think he’s he’s going to be whether he’s starting or off the or coming off the bench I think he’s going to have a really good year you know 15 20 points a game i think Phoenix definitely won him but I think Phoenix also probably wanted Devin Kell and probably along with draft picks so um uh I I I I don’t know if the Spurs actually made or what offer they made but uh I would be shocked if Phoenix didn’t want Deon part of it yeah absolutely all right la well not last but we’re nearing the end of the buy and sell buy or sell sohan will have an improved shooting season next year yeah I I I buy that i was watching his his uh the videos of him shooting um it looks a lot smoother because you remember he had that shot where he kind of he kind of just sort of stopped like twitched it or something yeah a little hitch to his shot now he’s now it’s a little bit it’s almost the same motion but it’s more fluid um so I think he’s definitely going to have a better shooting uh year better field goal percentage better three-point percentage uh I don’t think people realize how how much work Jeremy puts in jeremy puts in tons of work you know I think um I think he he thought that he shot was a little bit better than it was and then once you know kind of got into the season I think you know he realized that hey you know I still need to work on it right uh I think he sort of touched it up and the other thing people need to realize is he’s still young i mean you know we drafted him right i can’t remember if he was 18 or 19 when we initially drafted him but you know I I think he just turned you know legal to drink in the you know states uh so you know he he’s uh he’s you know he’s still young he’s still going to improve but uh he’s definitely putting in the work and and I think he’s definitely going to have a really good uh uh season as far as percentage wise in the shooting yeah and your final buy or sell question buy or sell that you will have your own San Antonio mural soon that I’m sorry what was that you will have your own San Antonio mural soon i’ll be the little guy on the side you know the stick figure like that’s me that’s me yeah can you believe it Harper i mean you you showed it to all Spurs fans on social media harper is getting his mural he’s not even a Spur afficion yeah because I I actually know the the owner from Rudy’s you know from the time I the other murals and he was asking me he goes “Hey what do you think of uh putting Harper up?” And I said “That’d be great.” I said you know uh I said “They haven’t drafted me.” And he sort of chuckled i hadn’t stopped me before because you know he put up one of Victor i think I think it was month it wasn’t only like you know before he got drafted he put a picture before Spurs even won the number one pick you know awarded the number one pick so uh you know he had talked about that and and I think he’s he’s looking at adding another one uh so he’s kind of he’s kind of waiting to see if the Spurs make any trades or any free agent signing he said he’s looking to to add another one i you know I think it’s going to be replace the uh Chris Paul one that he has up now have to yeah yeah if the Spurs fans go out there you know maybe suggest someone else to him you know uh cuz I know he’s looking uh trying to figure out who else uh to put up there i don’t know maybe maybe he uh does kind of a Victor thing maybe he puts up a a mural of Yiannis oh you imagine oh my goodness man that would What do they know what Rudy Seah know them coming to San Antonio that’d be crazy because when he put up the wimby one you know the fans went crazy and they thought like he need something as well so you know yeah so you know yeah i nothing else it it would attract a lot of uh business yeah would I I um I live closeish to that restaurant i drove by the other day and it at least couple days well no yesterday yeah cuz it’s coming out today um it was still like a white silhouette like you could tell like but you see the pencil drawing for his eyes and his nose and his mouth and um yeah that’s finished yeah it’s going to be fun uh but yeah they got to Chris Paul one Spurs get all upset remember when Barlo got his Barlo get one or McDermott got his why McDerm getting one but it’s all for it’s just all for fun he is Raul Dominguez of the AP sports
