the Dallas Mavericks are making huge mistakes and this could lead to their head coach and Jason Kidd leaving their franchise this is great news for the Knicks who continue and just won’t stop pursuing they’ve done since that point has been a mistake all the Mavericks need to do is extend Jason Kidd that would have ended this conversation at that point in time almost immediately but they didn’t do that instead they look extremely content watching Jason Kid staff leave one by one shout out to NBA insider with ESPN Sham Shirania for giving us this following information here according to him Dallas Mavericks assistant head coach Shawn Sweeney has agreed on a deal to leave the Mavericks and join the San Antonio Spurs as an associate head coach under their new head coach Mitch Johnson and shout out to New York basketball on the app X for giving us this following information as well too the Knicks did inquire about Shawn Sweeney before Sweeney left the Mavs coaching staff this weekend to become associate head coach of the San Antonio Spurs shawn Sweeney has coached under Jason Kidd in his time in Brooklyn Milwaukee and now in Dallas and I think one of the main reasons the Knicks tried to target Sweeney is because they knew if they got Sweeney part of this team part of this organization that could potentially lead Jason Kid to want to join the Knicks even more there’s a plan in place here and for the Knicks that plan is to do everything possible to entice Jason Kid to join this Knicks team and if you need more proof that the Knicks will do whatever it takes to get Jason Kidd on this team just take a look at the following information here right to left if you’re looking at the picture on the bottom left corner of the screen mavs trainer Casey Smith who joined the Knicks one year ago casey Smith with the Knicks right now then Mavs coach Jason Kidd who Dallas says is not available even though the Mavs denied the Knicks request to interview Jason Kidd it doesn’t look like they’re doing much to keep Kid happy they’re watching one by one his coaching staff leave the Dallas Mavericks and I don’t know about you guys but if I’m Jason Kid I’m not too happy about this i don’t like seeing people on my staff people who have been with me since the beginning one by one start to leave it started with Casey Smith and now it’s reached Shawn Sweeney a Mavs assistant who has been on every one of Jason Kid staff across three teams and nine seasons until now until he joined the San Antonio Spurs his contract by the way was up on June 30th and it didn’t seem like the Mavs had any incentive to try to bring him back and that’s why he’s joined the San Antonio Spurs but that begs the question how is Jason Kid feeling right now and where is his head at is he still waiting for that contract extension from the Dallas Mavericks or maybe just maybe given everything going on internally with the Dallas Mavericks right now could Kid be frustrated with the way things are going well if he’s frustrated now he’s about to get even more frustrated because there are other people on his coaching staff that potentially could leave the Dallas Mavericks come June 30th shout out to Brad Townson an NBA insider for giving us this following information here according to him in the end I’m told that Sweeney viewed the Spurs job as taking on more responsibility another step to becoming a head coach jason Kidd is an established coach with a finals and two conference finals appearances in that sense though he loves Dallas Sweeney had a glass ceiling it’s more about that associate head coach title and we have another NBA insider with Sports Illustrated Chris Manx giving us this following information as well too according to him there could be more turnover on Dallas’s bench jared Dudley is getting heavy interest from multiple teams at least according to NBA insider Mark Stein i’m told that Sham God could move as well both Sweeney and Dudley are viewed as future NBA head coaches so clearly their time in Dallas could be coming to an end for one major reason there’s a glass ceiling over there and they don’t want a glass ceiling they want the ability to be able to move up the ranks and potentially one day become a future head coach of an NBA team for the Knicks and their coaching search Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown are still the favorites to land the job however if Jason Kid is even remotely available the Knicks will shift all of their efforts to Jason Kid and try to get him on this team because even though Jenkins and Mike Brown are still currently the top favorites the top candidates to be the next head coach of this Knicks team if Jason Kid is even remotely available the Knicks will abandon all of that and focus solely on Jason Kid they have made it clear since the beginning of their search there is one man they want to be the next head coach of this Knicks team if he’s available and that person is Jason Kidd and even right now at this very moment that has not changed for this Knicks team shout out to James L edwards of The Athletic for giving us this following information here according to him something else to continue to monitor is the Knicks interest in Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd while a long shot to join New York Jason Kidd who is under contract for two more years and the Mavericks per League sources have shown no interest to this point in allowing their coach to leave they still haven’t agreed to an extension like other currently employed head coaches who the Knicks showed interest in during their first stage of their search edwards continues here by stating there has been nothing regarding Jason Kidd and an extension at this point in Dallas furthermore Dallas did not extend the contracts of kids assistant coaches after the franchise made it to the Western Conference Finals last year kid is going to lose his longtime assistant Sha Sweeney to the San Antonio Spurs other top Mavericks assistants like Jared Dudley and God Sham God have received interest from rival ball clubs and have contracts that will expire on June 30th which is also when Sweeny’s deal is up with the Mavericks as well these all factor into why the Knicks have not stopped pursuing Jason Kid because that chatter will never go away as long as Jason Kid has not received an extension and clearly with Kid’s coaching staff leaving one by one while it’s not ideal that the Knicks don’t necessarily have a head coach by the NBA draft they may not need one as well too new York holds the number 50th pick having a head coach in place by the start of free agency looks like it’s more beneficial for the Knicks versus having one at the start of the NBA draft new York holds the number 50th pick in this year’s draft having a head coach in place by the start of free agency and having those negotiations go on next week would be beneficial for the Knicks however until further notice not having a head coach right now signals that the franchise could be keeping its core players on the roster intact we know the Knicks are not going to rush this process and we already knew that New York was not going to make a decision by the NBA draft it was likely that they could make a decision before free agency began because clearly they do want a head coach in place who can give them some input on players they want part of this Knicks team for next season and maybe some other players that they don’t want to see return and again you need a head coach in place in order to make those decisions so I’m sure the Knicks are going to utilize this week as well too to interview some more head coach candidates and then make a final decision very very soon if it’s not going to be Jason Kid then it’s either going to be Taylor Jenkins or Mike Brown but if Jason Kidd does not receive an extension from Dallas if he feels very slighted by the Dallas Mavericks after watching one by one everyone on his coaching staff potentially leave it might push him over the edge to get out of Dallas and look for a new opportunity and that new opportunity will definitely be with the New York Knicks but as of right now the Dallas Mavericks are making a lot of mistakes i understand they denied the Knicks request to interview Jason Kidd but what are they doing right now to keep Kid happy to keep him motivated to keep him wanting to stay in Dallas because from where I’m sitting it looks like slowly one by one they’re giving him reasons to leave the Mavericks and every time the Knicks see that I’m sure they’re smiling because they know it’s only a matter of time before that dam breaks kid leaves the Mavs and potentially comes to New York and becomes our next head coach i’m not going to take it off the table and why because the Dallas Mavericks continue to make mistakes and until they make a correct decision Jason Kidd is firmly still on the table for the Knicks as potentially their next head coach but what about you guys
