Miami Heat Reportedly Not Exploring DeRozan or Kuminga Yet | Kings Looking At Heat’s 1st Round Pick?

welcome on in guys Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel I hope you’re doing well out there I hope everybody is uh enjoying themselves off the weekend as we’re here in the midst of summer NBA offseason is officially here And of course uh we know that rang us in on Sunday I don’t really want to harp on it anymore I did another video on it tonight I’m sure you know there’ll be maybe some more fallout of it but I I I I think I’ve made all my points on uh on uh what went down on Sunday Now I guess the next question is genuinely what is is there a next move that’s out there for the Miami Heat Um it was interesting if you read the Miami Herald uh Anthony Chang Barry Jackson great job of reporting the deets Um but they did report also in that like at the end of the article so Anthony and Barry reported on a couple of players who have been linked to the Miami Heat One being Jonathan Kaminga and two Demar D Rozan Doesn’t appear so far like there’s been much uh traction on either one of those moves Uh they wrote two players who have been linked to the Miami Heat in publish report Sacramento Kings forward Demar De Rozan who is said to be available and Golden State impending restrictor agent Jonathan Kaminga had not been the focus of heat discussions as of Sunday afternoon Two sources said D Rozan is due 24.5 million next season and 25.7 and 2627 with only 10 million of that guaranteed So he’s got the old Duncan Robinson Um also was another interesting thing with the Duncan Robinson element is that he didn’t appear I guess in any of the trade talks which is was kind of interesting I thought that that one either the Heat are thinking of just using that magic elixir themselves um just to get themselves some cat relief or um I mean do they just want to ride it out with Duncan Robinson because they love him I just thought that was that was one other element of this with the whole trade saga this weekend But not being interested in Demar De Rozan as of uh as of Sunday or Kaminga Now it says as of doesn’t mean they can’t be the focus because maybe their focus was Kevin Durant and things pivot things focus There are Suns uh there are Kings reports out there excuse me um from Mike Scott of Hoops Hype Was it is he on the clutch points now I apologize Mike Scott but he had a report that had discussed that the Kings are still very gung-ho on getting into the first round and that apparently they are willing to part with Malik Monk and Devin Carter Now we talked last week a little bit about the Devin Carter thing Devin Carter son of former Miami Heat assistant former Miami Heat guard Anthony Carter uh played in Miami Dade was uh the la the first Miami Dade product drafted since Tim Hardaway Jr So a couple Legacy Heat players Um there was talk that he was actually going to be available which is uh you know which is interesting because you know they just drafted him and they’re already at a point where like they’re ready to move on But I think we’ve seen like sometimes you know you get a guy in doesn’t work out Could there be a you know HZ for Devin Carter flipperooi that goes on there Malik Monk is an interesting one Um because teammates with Bam So you have that he is uh he’s part of that crew where um you know him dear Fox Kentucky Days these guys uh this uh you know in the 201617 season Malik Monk would be a nice interesting piece of of offensive punch to come off the bench Um because if we talk about like all right you have Nico who’s going to provide some of that but Malik Monk just kind of being that bonafide go-to guy that they didn’t really get from Haime last year They certainly didn’t get from Terry in either role last year Like just it was a it was a missing element His contract um is not great not terrible It’s kind of in that that okay range of he’s making about 18.7 this year 20.2 the year after that and 21.6 the year after that So you do have some years committed to him That’s one of those where you could flip Duncan Robinson for him and it’s like hey you got the expiring deal or you could just wave Duncan and you get a player who you know you think of as productive and can bring a little punch to your team you know can certainly score a little bit Shooting’s kind of gone down over the last couple years but you can you know see the the kind of athleticism the kind of burst that he has Um you know an interesting player An interesting player was a sixman of the year can I think he was runner up to Nas Reed a couple of years ago So from my standpoint when I saw that I was like you know that’s it’s more in my it’s more in my my wheelhouse of what I’d like the Heat to do I mean like you’re talking about one of those fringe moves but I think can benefit Miami to certainly have just guys you could go to to to give you some kind of relief if something’s not there offensively Um you know Monk’s already been in that role I think like you’ve seen him have that role in Charlotte and I think everybody’s a little scared of like going for Charlotte guys but then did it for some pretty decent Kings teams that uh that that that um it see but it seems very much like the Kings are ready to kind of move on from that era which is like like if you want to go Heat Kings parallels and I would never say that the Heat Kings are one of the biggest dumpster fires in the NBA in history The Heat are whatever they are right now They are one of the class organizations in the league Okay So don’t mince my words here and be rat bastards about it I’m not calling the Heat the Kings but the Kings very much seem like hey we rode that Mike Brown like the Beam team It was a fun run See you Now should they have been more appreciative of some decent basketball because they haven’t had any of it Maybe And are they more used to being terrible Yes I think that there is a definitely an element of Miami that it just doesn’t feel right in their soul to take a step back There is part of me that respects that that that I that identity of we don’t tank we don’t suck we don’t want I get that dude I know that the Heat don’t love that I know that the Heat aren’t about that That’s not in the fiber they’re being But you know to a certain degree steps back it can have a benefit Now it can bite you in the ass like some of the teams that are really trying to do it that are soullessly trying to do it the Washingtons of the world Hey it didn’t pay off for him this year did it Um but from my standpoint you know Miami is really just in this in this strange no man’s land right now of the being this fringe East team That’s sure Look man in in your most optimistic views you could look and say Miami Heat had a Molotov cocktail thrown in their season yesterday Jimmy threw this thing into the wood chipper and a normal year wouldn’t go like that However you could also look at it and be like all right though it’s not even just that like we had I have seen stints of Bamaio Tyler Herro teams when Jimmy’s been out in regular season that didn’t go as poorly as what we saw last year Maybe that had to do with the guard being let down of all the stress Maybe a normal year does have Eric Spolstra more sharp in a better place And maybe they do just need fringe moves like this Let Haime Hakas get a fresh start You bring in a guy who I think that he’ll have a lot of care for because they have a relationship with the guy’s father Um maybe feel like this guy can you know with his wingspan be a great backcourt mate to Tyler Herro if they don’t especially if they don’t want to pay somebody Maybe they just feel like the investment on DaVon Mitchell is a little bit too much or maybe he’s going to be priced out and they feel like this is the way to go and they really do steer into more of a youth movement with that I I and I do think there’s an element to that that would be respected more by the Heat and and I’m I’m not kicking DaVon Mitchell out the door Lot of respect for Off Love the things that he’s about Um but maybe the Heat wonder like “All right well what what is our team with DaVon M?” Like because if you do that it’s like “All right we’re bringing in a guard who can score a little bit has the wingspan you think can uh can be a good defensive presence out there He gets to play next to Tyler Hero and uh we see where that goes or he can be coming off the bench in a in an ignitable role Um get a real chance that he didn’t last year because of injuries because of opportunities because it was a little screwy and squirrely in Sacramento They got Lavine they got they got D Rozan they got rid of De’Aran Fox So all of those things make uh make it a little bit strange but now we’re in a spot where okay you bring him in here and people are more excited about oh this pick and and mind you was a guy that a lot of Heat fans would have been excited for the Heat to draft last year They didn’t get the opportunity worked out great They got Kell Wear and this is a draft where look there’s nice candidates and I’ve probably done more homework over the weekend on the draft than I have this entire time and like there’s some nice guys in here Is there anybody I love as much as I would the Heat getting Devin Carter I can’t necessarily say that as of right now Maybe like a maybe like two but um you know we’ll see This is just some some FOD that’s out there right now But a deal that obviously would have to happen you would think in the next 48 hours if the Kings really do want to get in the first round So we’ll see

Tobin reacts to Miami Herald’s report that the Heat have not pursued DeMar DeRozan or Jonathan Kuminga, but will they? Plus more reports about the Kings wanting to deal Devin Carter and potentially Malik Monk. Does that tickle the Heat’s fancy?

  1. Good! It doesn't make sense. Stop getting washed up players miami. Oladipo, lowry, PJ tucker, trevor ariza, jae crowder, etc. Tired of those big off-season moves

  2. Northern California Kings and Phins fan here. Both seem to always make the wrong choices. 👑 🐬 🤞

  3. I like wiggins, rozier, jacquez for derozen and monk. And if they want a pick give them the 20 but have sac include a future pick down the road. Need to start making moves to build better assets for the future if heat aren't going for the whales

  4. If we passed on KD, we either (1)have bigger moves in mind, (2)we’re trading Bam and Tyler and hitting a reset or (3)running it back. If it’s option 3, we need to overthrow management. That’s what a lost, mismanaged and delusional FO would do. Option 1 I don’t think we’re going to make a deal for a superstar. We’re going option 2 and having a fire sale.

  5. Boston just traded Holiday to Portland for Anfernee Simons and two second rounders. Miami just standing still again smh

  6. Heat should get Demar Derozan, Malik Monk, and Jalen Carter for a Duncan,Terry, pick 20 type deal. Add wiggins in Duncan or Terry spot if needed. Try that. Thats cheap and could possibly work.
