Sacramento Kings Might Trade Malik Monk, Devin Carter?

Sacramento Kings Might Trade Malik Monk, Devin Carter?

yo what’s going on guys And today of course we got to talk about these rumors or reports that are coming from my colleague Michael Scott at hoopship.com Link will be in the description of the latest intel report that he just put out I’d like to hear what you guys have to say down below in the comment section And yes Malik Monk and Devin Carter supposedly being shopped by the Kings The Kings now being run by Scott Perry aka kind of like the former GM of the Knicks but like I don’t want to give him too much credit there However the replacement to Monty McNair Doug Christie is the head coach And this is a team that went 40 and 42 was ninth in the Western Conference Look this is a team that dreadful on defense a squad that needs to improve overall as a defensive unit I think one of the things that really plagued the Kings was the Kings this year they didn’t have a roster meant to play defense And obviously I do believe that was part of the downfall for the the Mike Brown because Mike Brown started basically getting super pissed off at his players But it he was given a roster that wasn’t good in terms of defense They basically took the Bulls and mashed them with a bunch of non-spacers and they ended up being the 19th ranked defense 10th ranked I guess Well my apology right there Yeah 23rd in defensive rating 19th in opponent points per game 10th in points per game while being seventh in offensive rating And look the offense is great and all dandy and it like works well for them But the thing I don’t understand is how does one go ahead and make sure that they So with all that being said let me read you the report that’s coming from Mr Michael Scott They’re allegedly looking to shop looking to improve What does this all mean So the report goes a little like this The Sacramento Kings have been active in trade talks around the league with Scott Perry having replaced Monty McNair The Kings have expressed a desire to acquire a first round pick in this year’s draft They’ve gauged the trade markets of Malik Monk and Deon Carter Monk started 45 65 games this year average careerhighs in points 17 assists just under six in minutes just under 32 a game The 27year-old guards owed almost $39 million combined over the next two seasons and has a $21.58 million player option for the 2027-28 season Now Carter was last year’s 13th overall pick He had this shoulder injury if I’m remember correctly that really plagued him to start the year as it was something that he had surgery in the off season And when the Kings and Nets were talking trade with Cam Johnson the Kings refused to include Devin Carter So since taking over Scott Perry has pursued a veteran point guard to replace De’arren Fox is outside of their defense The biggest thing with this team is they have no true you know point guard And I know Sabonis and Demar D Rozan and Zack Lavine all can be facilitators in their own right but they’re not true floor generals But on June 4th Michael Scott also also previously reported that oops hype sources told them that Deontis Sabonis and Zack Lavine and Demar De Rozan could potentially be somebody that gets traded Now what does this all mean Is this just a bunch of hoopla Is there any value or players that you could get I think the Nets maybe could be a team in a three team type deal or the Utah Jazz straight up could be someone that maybe a Malik Monk for a and we’ll go to Fanso right here which I think Fanso can help paint a nice little picture for us as a nice illustration tool So let me just pull that up for us And I want to hear your opinions Who’s a player that you would like to see join the roster or be targeted by this team I think it’s it’s a very interesting market and it’s not like personally I don’t think it’s anything special The opportunities that are available is kind of what I want to say the market is shallow and it’s all going to be shallow probably till next off seasonason So with that being said I’d like to think that a team so we just talked about the Nets I don’t I mean the Bucks could be a dark horse and it could involve Kyle Kosma maybe a Monk who they just don’t have any draft assets to give you So that’s where I go to the Utah Jazz And it just makes way too much sense for a team like Utah to go out and maybe try to actually start winning now And I think if you look at I think Jordan Clarkson could be the offensive guy that they rather have than Monk just from a money standpoint I believe they should be able to just eat it And right there I know people could argue well the Kings probably want a bit more compensation And from there is it his fe Because you don’t want a young guy You want someone who might be able to help impact winning And this is where someone maybe a John Collins comes into play Yes he’s making a bit much on the contract side of things However could this be And this is where I get confused how Jonas Valentunis and Sabonis work Like yeah like it wasn’t terrible but at the same time I’m not a huge fan of it I’d rather Could you turn Monk and Valenunis into Collins I think that could be a bit more valuable Next up and that’s the thing is that’s kind of what I like right there when and I doubt that that would be able to be done straight up because of you need to cut $282,000 only which could be then throwing in Terrence Davis as he’s a minimum contract that would be able to get you over the edge Does that help you I think yes Now they would probably have to do a sub subsequent move as I don’t think that’s going to be enough in my opinion I think you still are looking for that point guard And then we go around the league and we look who’s a facilitator that’s available and there are aren’t that many Are you going to go down to Orlando or Memphis I don’t think Cole Anthony is the guy Orlando’s probably not going to give up Suggs or Anthony Black So I look around the league and I think nobody on the Celtics is going to be available You really go out and try to get a Darius Garland which in this case it have to be Malik Monk I do not think they’d be able to stomach And also I I took the wrong guy Darius Garland making 39 And right here this gets you about a $16 million difference And you would still have to include a Jonas Valentunis and maybe even a Terrence Davis to get this deal across because right now you’re sending 34 million And I think you should be able cuz you’re within reach Yeah Would a Malik Monk Yonas Valentunis and Deon Carter interest a Cavaliier squad You get to replace Tai Jerome with Malik Monk Donovan Mitchell and Monk could be your starters Also you could probably maybe try to resign Tyome while Garland gets to be the floor spacing guard that a team like the Kings would need and they have been linked to them before Outside of that do you go after a Kobe White which in this case you would probably do a Kobe White Malik Monk maybe try to they’re about probably similar value And the argument would be here the Kings extend white wild monks or extended and that could be a way that interests either team But I think it’s going to be harder to move Carter I’d rather keep Carter I think just trying to build up that value will make more sense And again I know we didn’t talk picks but a lot of these deals could involve the missing piece to these deals being said pick So let me hear your thoughts on that [Music]

Per Michael Scotto, the Sacramento Kings have been active in trade talks since Scott Perry took over as general manager from Monte McNair. The Kings are reportedly looking to acquire a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and have gauged the market for guards Malik Monk and Devin Carter. Monk posted career-highs last season and is under contract for two more years, while Carter, the 13th overall pick in 2024, was held out of trade talks during the year but now could be in play.

Perry is also pursuing a veteran point guard to replace De’Aaron Fox, who was traded to the Spurs. Rival NBA executives are closely watching the futures of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan, as Sacramento could look to move at least one of them before the deadline.

Stay tuned for the latest on the Kings’ offseason moves, draft ambitions, and possible blockbuster trades.
