Boston Celtics TRADE Jrue Holiday to Portland for Anfernee Simons, picks

the Boston Celtics have traded Drew Holiday to the Portland Trailblazers for Anthony Simons and two second round picks it’s an incredible haul for Holiday because they are looking to salary dump him and they end up getting a really good young player in Simons who’s 26 who’s been shooting really really well as a career 38% three-point shooter he’s going to have a spot in that lineup right away he’s going to get a chance to thrive and obviously flex that three-point shooting in Boston’s offense so my immediate reaction is what a great hall for Brad Stevens the Portland Trailblazers wanted to increase their defense the Celtics wanted to cut some salary they immediately get 40 million dollars in tax savings just from this trade alone there’s still work to do to get under the second apron but that’s a job that’s going to take all year for now they cut salary they get a really good offensive player in return and if Simons can stay healthy it looks like he’ll be a really good fit for the Celtics who now have a strong offensive player to go along with Jaylen Brown and Derek White as they try to navigate this nonJason Tatum time as he recovers from his Achilles injury so uh a really just good trade by Brad Stevens the holiday era is over and funny enough he goes back to the team that traded him to Boston it’s almost like they borrowed him from the Trailblazers i’ll have much more reaction on the Locked On Celtics podcast

    I like Anfernee he’s a 3-level scorer. Jrue is getting old so this trade makes sense. I don’t know wtf Portland is doing tho😂

    The East is in such disarray that the could end up back in the 2026 ECF at worst-case! If Tatum comes back in time for the 2026 Playoffs, all bets would be off at that rate. He would be the freshest player out of the bunch!

    That’s too bad… but makes total sense. Holiday was a transcendent defensive player, especially against the Mavs, but something was just not right with him the second half of this season.

    I had hopes that jrue would net back more cap savings.. like a lot more, but I always knew that was unlikely. It’s a bitter sweet trade because now we know at least one more key player has to go too… was really hoping to save 15 mil. That said Simon’s is a great fit and will fit in well.

    Wow no way. I always liked Simons. I think he'll be great with us and he'll have a chance to show how good he is on a good team that maximizes his talents.
