Mavericks sign Daniel Gafford for 60 MILLION
so the Dallas Mavericks are signing Daniel Gaffford danny Gaffford three years 60 mil and I’m seeing some people online saying that this is a bit of an overpay and stuff like that but honestly I think with the way the NBA is going 20 million a year for a guy as solid as Daniel Gaffford that was a starting center for you like just a season ago the season before this past one on a team that made the finals he was very solid he was great in that finals run uh I feel like that’s a very solid move to make and I think that is easily justifiable i mean just looking at my books with Kyle Kosma getting paid over $20 million a year i mean 20 million at this point it’s just not that much money and when you look at their roster um I think that there’s probably going to have to be some moves that are made um salary-wise to keep them afloat but I think Daniel Gaffford at 20 million even comparison to other contracts they have is still a good move like when I look through their salaries I mean you got Klay Thompson making over 15 million i think Daniel Gaffford is significantly more important than Klay Thompson at this point of his career and so if I were the Mavericks and we could potentially see this I’d be looking around to see does anyone want a little shooter want a little Klay Thompson and see if you could like get a little bit cheaper by moving off of Clay um as he you know seen as how you have just a lot of defensive wings that are just better defensively than him and can also knock down a three like Anagi Marshall a Caleb Martin um a uh Cooper Flag’s going to be coming in Max Christie so when you look at the Mavericks I think that they should be looking to move off of Clay at this point um but I think I think that signing is a good one for them and the other thing I’d be looking to do is trade Derrick Lively i think they should have been done this but I was talk I was arguing with a Mavericks fan a lot this past year that was always on my Bucks channel hyping up Derrick Lively and he’s to me he’s just Claxton 2.0 like if you look at Claxton he was a guy that like two years ago the discourse around him was crazy like he was seen as a super extremely valuable guy swiss Army knife like he could guard everybody he’s a great defender as time goes on it’s just like man once you lose a little bit of that young energy and you just don’t really have any skills to fall back on not that he’s not young still but like as you get older you just don’t improve that much those guy type of guys that are just rim runners and I think that I I think Derrick Lively fits that he’s a skillless big man that’s just kind of based off athleticism and I think you would have been better off trading him a year ago but I still think that there’s good value that you could get for him now um and I think that that value would be um would still be worth moving off of him rather than having to pay him a couple years for a guy that I don’t see developing much um and improving very much so um when you have Anthony Davis there you’ve got Gaffford you’ve got Cooper Flag who could play the four i would say trade Derek Lively for a cheaper center and a pick like go get just a veteran solid center to that you could play backup minutes to get like a couple second round picks and then call it a day um and that way you’ll be able to continue to pay guys like Daniel Gaffford for the next three years um and not have too much of an issue there but overall I think the Mavericks are very well set up because of the lottery or Adam Silva helping them whatever way you want to look at it um and I think that uh this is a good signing let me know what you all think drop a comment hit that like and subscribe if you want
