🚨Knicks INTERVIEWING Micah Nori To Be Next Knicks Head Coach | New York Knicks News

we got some breaking news to talk about here on New York Knicks now as Leon Rose continue his search to find the next head coach of the New York Knicks and it starts today with an interview for Micah Nory the lead assistant of the Minnesota Timberwolves and I absolutely love this we’ll talk about that later but first make sure you are subscribed it’s going to be a big off season for the New York interviewed to be the next head coach of the New York Knicks is Micah Nory the lead assistant for the Minnesota Timberwolves and I like this interview process and really I like the Knicks interviewing Nory a lot and for a lot of different reasons and we’ll break that down on today’s show but first piece I love is even though he hasn’t been a head coach in the National Basketball Association he got some prime time reps last year he was the acting head coach for the Timberwolves when Finch went down with that leg injury so he was in the playoffs he was coaching a team that got to the Western Conference Finals and most importantly he has a relationship and he knows how Carl Anthony Towns ticks and if you’re going to roll with a duo of Brunson and Towns you need to bring in a coach that can maximize that duo and what a better guy to bring in than Nory who has spent a lot of time with towns in Minnesota sham Shirania broke the news this morning saying the New York Knicks are interviewing Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nory for the team’s head coaching job nory and two former head coaches Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins have done formal interviews for the Knicks vacancy james L edwards saying Nory has been a longtime respected assistant at several stops i covered him while he was with Dwayne Casey in Detroit a great basketball mind and better personality edwards also adding “Nory also ran the offense at Minnesota while Carl Anthony Towns was there.” There isn’t a player who will say a bad word about him and to be honest with you I didn’t know much about Nory before really this head coaching search started and I’ve started to do some background research on him and I haven’t seen one player or one former coach have anything negative to say about him who is he as a coach though got his start in the NBA as a Toronto Raptor assistant and he had been there for a while from 2009 2013 started as an intern actually became an advanced scout and later an assistant coach under Jay Triano and Dwayne Casey he then joined the Sacramento Kings and their coaching staff from 2013 to 2015 under Michael Malone he then followed Malone to Denver when Malone became the head coach and he coached alongside Prince Finch and forming a close bond with Nola Joic so he coached Joic he’s coached Carl Anthony Towns then he went from the Nuggets to the Pistons served as a head assistant and offensive coordinator under Dwayne Casey and most recently 2021 to now joined the Minnesota Timberwolves over Finch due to their prior relationship when he worked with him in Denver nori is considered Finch’s right-hand man handling strategy rotations and sideline duties he gained attention for stepping in as the acting head coach during those 2024 playoffs when Finch suffered a torn Patel attendant he also has made the rounds as a potential head coach in this league he interviewed for the Cleveland Cavaliers job last year um when they fire JB Picker staff he’s also interviewed to be the Detroit Pistons head coach last year and the Phoenix Suns this year so there are teams around the NBA that look at Nory as one of those next guys up in line to be a head coach in this league i found this clip on Twitter where Nory talked about his role on the Minnesota Timberwolves staff and it was great stuff he said “My job is more game management substitution patterns and helping that type of thing and anything I see on either side of the ball and just as an overview and then also special situations down the stretch of the game would be I guess my endgame duties for the most part.” I then also found Chris Finch talking about Mike Nory and Finch said “Nory he’s at a whole other level at being really really good.” thinking through all the small pieces through the game from subbing end of quarters maximizing defensive possessions at the end of the game when to foul when not to foul all of those things and Finch not just in that quote has been very complimentary of Nory as a person as a coach and I think he knows that it’s going to be sooner rather than later that he leaves that staff to be a head coach and he’s got a great relationship with the players as well i couldn’t find anything directly correlated to Carl Anthony Towns but shout out to the best Knicks account on Twitter New York Basketball they are awesome found this quote they pulled it micah is a genius that’s what Anthony Edwards said about Nory who is now interviewing for the Knicks head coaching spot look and of all the candidates that have gotten an interview for the Knicks none of them know Carl Anthony Towns better than Mica Nori does and like I kind of alluded to early on in the video if you’re going to roll with Towns as a piece of the puzzle that you’re going to try to put together to win an NBA championship you need a guy that can get the most out of Carl Anthony Towns and we saw Towns in Minnesota be a really good player took it to another level with the New York Knicks but Nory saw Towns play starting center before they got Rudy Gobear and he’s seen him play the power forward spot next to Towns so whether Nory thinks he’s a power forward or a center I do not know but Nory is most likely going to know who and what Carl Anthony Towns needs to be to get the most out of his potential and I’m a big fan of that like get a guy that can maximize the players on the roster i think that Towns is going to be here unless a major trade happens that I just don’t foresee right now so let’s maximize the player of who Towns is and Nory like we saw talked about he saw him play next to Rudy Gobear and he had a lot of success and there’s other videos on Twitter where Nory’s on the whiteboard you could probably find him we can’t show him unfortunately on today’s show where he’s talking about using Carl Anthony Towns as a shooter off the ball next to Rudy Gobear so he knows how to use him as the four and he obviously knows how to use him as the five i think the thing that speaks loudest about who Nory is as a person as a coach is you go through Minnesota Timberwolves Twitter today and they’re upset they don’t want him to leave they do not want him to move away from the bench of Chris Finch and become the head coach of the New York Knicks they want him to stay a part of that organization and I think when you can get the pulse of a fan base on a coach potentially leaving that’s going to paint the picture in a way that I think is very digestible to understand who that coach is and it sounds like he’s really liked and respected inside the building with the Timberwolves but also amongst the fan base i got a couple more thoughts on Nory as a head coach candidate for the New York Knicks but you should go to chatsports.comnicksusa chatports.comnicksusa get your Knicks t-shirt as the Fourth of July is right around the corner so the Knicks have interviewed Taylor Jenkins Mike Brown and now Micah Nory so three head coach candidates have gone through the interview process at least stage one of the interview process to our knowledge and look we’re coming up on I think three weeks since Tom Tibido was fired we may even be past three weeks and I think it’s safe to say the Knicks are not in a rush and they don’t seem to be in a rush and they shouldn’t be in a rush there’s only one head coaching job open in the NBA and it’s to be the head coach of the New York Knicks they don’t need to go out and hurry and hire someone to make sure that that candidate doesn’t leave to go coach somewhere out and with the NBA draft tomorrow and on Thursday like this could drag out i kind of thought that was the first soft deadline thinking just logically that you’d want a head coach in before the draft gets there but obviously Leon Rose worldwide West and the New York Knicks have different thoughts and I thought of this as well a key piece of the Knicks front office is Gerson Rosas and the Knicks hired him away from the Timberwolves so I’m sure Rosas has a really good relationship with Nory as well and maybe he might be the guy pounding the table for him to be the next head coach when it comes to is it going to drag out like I don’t really care at this point um take your time cast a wide net leave no stone unturned find the best coach possible identify who that is and go and get him we know that it took seven weeks for Leon Rose to hire Tom Tibido he always had Tibs in his back pocket as most likely the favorite but he interviewed candidate after candidate after candidate and I want that same thing to happen i want this to be a long list of people that were interviewed and then narrow it down and then narrow it down again identify the right coach hire him and let’s go win a championship who do you want the Knicks to hire as their next head coach is it Nory is it Brown is it Taylor Jenkins i’d be fine with any three of those guys they all feel a little safe which isn’t a bad thing but a little bit against the grain of what the
