Warriors Just Got MAJOR NEWS From Mike Dunleavy Press Conference + TRADE For Kristaps Porzingis?

[Music] on the eve of the 2025 NBA draft we have a ton of Warriors news and rumors to discuss as is Golden State trading for Chris Borzingis as the Bolton Celtics continue to move salary and make trades this offseason plus we got major news from Mike Dunley as he spoke to the media leading up to the 2025 NBA draft and talked all things Warriors offseason and then we’ll close out today’s show with why the Kevin Durant trade at the 2025 NBA trade deadline fell through need new details have emerged as he is now a member of the Houston Rockets all that and more in just a moment but make sure you are subscribed to the channel because if the any of these moves go down any speculative moves during the Warriors offseason we’re going to bring you them right here and break it all down we’ll also break down all the Warriors draft selections coming up in the 2025 NBA draft as they hold pick 41 so stay tuned for the best Warriors offseason content on YouTube go down below hit that big red sub button 100% free all right let’s talk about it chris has Porzingis trade as Warriors were listed on a list of teams that have been quote unquote in contact with the Boston Celtics on a Chris Porzingis trade obviously last night late Monday the uh Golden the Warriors the Celtics made a trade with the Portland Trailblazers sent Drew Holiday to the Pacific Northwest bringing back Anthony Simons shedding a little bit of salary but they are still trying to get underneath the NBA’s second luxury tax apron so there’s more moves that need to be made and Chris has Porzingis is at the top of their trade rumors at this point brett Seagull of Clutch Points saying the following the next business the next order of business for Boston is trading Chris Haps Porzingis as he enters the final year of his contract porzingis has drawn interest from several teams in both conferences the Pelicans Golden State Warriors Los Angeles Lakers Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors are a few of the 10 to 12 teams that have been in contact with the Celtics recently according to sources look man Porzingis would fit in awesomely but it seems like there’s a little bit of a bidding war going on right now for the Lian big man who is going to turn 30 this upcoming year he had the mystery illness in March and really did not perform at the Celtic the level the Celtics needed him to in the postseason but this is a really really good player who would fit right in to Golden State system and a 40% three-point shooter a guy who can give you 20 points any given night the issue we all know with Chris Esportzing though is the health and his availability played less than 100 games in his two regular seasons with the Boston Celtics and you know his best season really since his rookie year playing 65 games in 2022 23 so like again there’s real concerns with the you know especially with the Warriors who are you know led by a bunch of older older veteran talents you know guys who are going to miss time during the regular season and they really can’t afford to be in the position they were last year kind of fighting for playoff you know their playoff lives through the the home stretch of the NBA season ending back up in the NBA playin like I don’t think that’s a position that they want to be in next year so I think that they want players to improve this roster that are going to be able to improve the the roster and improve their standings in the Western Conference as the season goes on and be available night in and night out also Tim Kawakami did mention this as well as kind of a thing that might to me at least dispel the Chris Esportzing trade interest from Golden State he did say I I’ve said before that stretch five would be the free agent target but I don’t think it’s going to be a stretch five now so Golden State maybe isn’t prioritizing a major stretch five um I guess improvement this offseason as they do have Quinn Post waiting in the wings he got a ton of minutes down the stretch of last season and really showed some flashes that he can be that he can fill that role for the Golden State Warriors these next couple of seasons so they seem like they’re putting a lot of faith in Quinton Post i’m not so sure that a Chris Esportzing trade is all that likely at this point because it’s going to be crazy um difficult financially like the Celtics are a second apron team they can’t aggregate contracts and Golden State like they don’t have a ton of big contracts to be able to match Porzingis money we’ll talk more about that kind of you know restriction in Golden State’s area in just a moment but I want to ask you guys this question should the Warriors trade for Chris Sasporzingis you let me know in the comments section yes or no is that is that a player that you want on the Golden State Warriors or is it kind of a situation where you know his health kind of scares you guys a little bit you let me know what you guys think down in the comments yes or no should the Warriors trade for Chris Esport Porzingis or not look I would want to trade for Porzingis but it’s not going to necessarily be easy for Golden State it also would have to include probably a Jonathan Kamega signing trade and I don’t think the Celtics want anything to do with that so it would have to be a multi-team deal kamega would have to go somewhere like a Brooklyn or something we know there’s no interest there at this point so I I don’t think it’s all that likely that Porzingis ends up in the Bay Area however on the topic of Jonathan the Kaminga we’re not going to focus on him too much today cuz I know all my videos have been about him recently and I’m I’m the number one Jonathan Kamega hater in the whole wide world i get it whatever you can roast me in the comments but Mike Dunley did say in his press conference and we referenced this yesterday as well that the main focus is the Jonathan Kaminga free agency saga he said he wants to get that done sooner rather than later so if and when Golden State makes a deal for Kaminga whether they bring him back or they end up trading him they know kind of where they are financially to be able to make the other marginal moves to improve their roster now with the reports coming out that it’s likely that Kaminga ends up staying in Golden State and they you know come to terms on a contract extension where else do the Golden State Warriors look to add talent at this point because there aren’t that many other avenues to go out there and do so they’re tied up with the Jimmy Butler and the Steph Curry max deals and you’re tied up with a Draymond Green $25 million a season so it it’s not going to be easy for them to make a ton of external moves but they do have some exceptions at their disposal that they can work with they have the non-taxpayer mid-level exception now I’m not so sure how much access they will have to this given what happens with Jonathan Kaminga like if they resign him are they going to use the non-t taxpayer mid-level beforehand and then make the the deal for Kaminga to come back like that that’s probably how they would have to do it i think once they if they made the Kaminga resigning I think they they would probably not be available uh to use this anymore so I I I’d say that they go after that early this off seasonason also they get the bannual exception a player can sign up to $5.1 million teams get that every two seasons they also have two trade exceptions $8.8 million i would love to see if Golden State can make something happen with that with with the $8.8 million trade exception as well as they got a $2.2 million one that’s really nothing they also have a second round uh draft exception and then they have veteran at minimum which all teams have as well so some free agency targets for Golden State to go out there and pursue eh I mean look the these guys are any of them going to be ultra needle movers i mean maybe Bobby Poris Nikki Alexander Walker could do that for you but look Golden State has their their superstars like Mike Don Levia said that they’re probably not going to be in the market for a superstar added or superstar level salaried player this offseason so you look at Bobby Portoris or Nikil Alexander Walker two legit off thebench like rotation pieces that Golden State would thrive with i think they both fit in awesome as well as Santi Alama stretch big and be physical as well i like Aldama’s game caris Levert as an off-bench you know scoring guard golden State does not have a ton of shot creation i would I wouldn’t mind him at all maybe if you could get on the bannual that would be insane larry Nash Jr is a name you could get for a little bit cheaper though in my opinion and hey he’s been solid but has not been available over the past season or so so I would take a flyer on him as a cheap addition for Golden State look man it’s not going to be easy uh but Dunley did say on tra on on trades this offseason they will be in the mix but it takes two to tango and and and Golden State doesn’t have a lot of desirable assets for a lot of these teams you got to think about the trade assets they have like Jonathan can make a signing trade there’s that’s a huge one moses Moody like $11 million you can make something work there I guess a little bit buddy healed like outside of that they really don’t have many trade chips that you know make make sense financially to to part with in order to get new talent so it’s going to be interesting to see how Golden State navigates this offseason no doubt about it more from Mike Dunlevy here from his press conference about the salary restrictions in Golden State and how how trades will kind of look this off season this is only because of our salary structure and the way it works with the amount of money you can use underneath the second apron that probably restricts it more than anything for us in terms of pursuing the best roster we can i think we’ll look at a lot of stuff we’ll look at players that we really like that maybe we’re just got to be h he’s kind of tripping over his words there probably not able to get those kinds of guys it’s almost impossible for us to add a player in the salary range of guys we were looking at last summer since we’ve added Jimmy Butler that would be the only limiter but in terms of finding talent improving the team we’re going to look under every rock to try and do that look one thing is certain Warriors fans this roster needs to improve the war the Rockets went out there and got Kevin Durant the Spurs are going to have hopefully a healthy Wemby and who knows what they’ll add after adding Dylan Harper the number two overall pick this off seasonason the Thunder are still going to be as good as can be the Lakers are going to be a better version of themselves the Timberwolves will probably get a little bit better as well the the West is as good as it could possibly be right now and Golden State is kind of falling by the wayside in a way uh if they don’t end up getting more talent on the roster this offseason I’m not asking for a superstar level guy i’m not asking for a multi-time all-star to join the roster what I’m asking for is just basketball players guys who can I’m not embarrassed that that are out there on the floor in down the home stretch of playoff games that that Golden State desperately needs to win so they can get their injured star back in for a game six yeah look I’m sorry i I don’t want Gary Payton and Kevin Kavon Looney playing down the stretch of big time playoff games anymore i just don’t need it there the the Warriors are better than that and Steph deserves more than that who’s your guy who name a player the Warriors should add this off seasonason whether it’s via trade whether it’s via free agency you let me know who you want wearing blue and gold next season quickly before we move on to the Kevin Durant stuff could Golden State move up into round one of the NBA draft mike Dunley was asked how Golden State’s going to navigate their draft selections this year if you remember last season they ended up trading away their second round pick ended up trading back for it and getting Quinn Post in that deal so Golden State is no stranger to moving around in the draft but I’m not so sure it will be all the way up into round one unless they were willing to give some uh future draft capital i don’t think they’re in the business of doing that don Levy said this i think most likely in the second round it’s probably looking at moving up or back within that round is there a possibility we can move into the first round sure i wouldn’t put it highly likely but you never know on draft night you get calls you explore things you look at stuff and we’ll continue to do that look it’d be cool it’d be really cool if the Warriors could move into round one if they really liked the player who they think they could contribute immediately because look if Golden State takes a project player with their draft selection this year that that is a legitimate problem and Mike Dybe I’d be very upset with him i’m not I’m just not so sure that Golden State has the right ammo to move up like I was talking about generally trading for players earlier like are teams going to be willing to move you know part with a first round pick for Moses Moody Buddy Healed or Jonath Kaminga like I highly highly highly highly doubt it so I’m not so sure that Golden State has the right ammo to move up in this draft unless they’d be willing to give away future draft capital like talking 27 28 29 30 draft picks um and I don’t think they’re in the business of doing that with Stephen Curry’s career in the spot that it’s in right now and the uncertainty of his future past his current contract we’ll talk more in just a moment but make sure you guys get hooked up with this fresh Warriors Fourth of July gear the holiday is coming up soon and if you’re cooking out you’re going want to be looking fresh as well you can rock this tea with this link right here chatforce.com/dubsforth i put that link in the comment section and description of today’s video as well so go get yourself some fresh Golden State Warriors 4th of July gear i love the pattern there usa flag behind the logo all right now let’s talk about it why the Kevin Durant trade to the Golden State Warriors fell through it was widely speculated that Durant and Draymond Green they had their issues especially in in the home stretch of Durant’s career in Golden State they had a falling out all that stuff and kind of when this trade was being discussed and was essentially in place right before the trade deadline before the Warriors went out and made the Jimmy Butler move um it was said that Durant pulled out of the trade because and many people thought Draymond Green but ever since he was traded to the Houston Rockets Logan Murdoch wrote a piece up on the ringer and explained why Durant ended up having cold feet about coming back to the Bay Area murdoch saying Durant’s exit from the Bay Area arguably had more to do with his issues with Steve Kerr than any shouting match with Draymond Green durant repeatedly complained both publicly and privately about Kerr’s offensive principles during his final season with the Warriors and he continued to do so even after he left for Brooklyn i mean look there Steve Kerr wasn’t getting fired so the the Durant trade clearly wasn’t going to happen i guess they had a falling out and Durant didn’t like his offensive philosophy i I wonder if he didn’t love playing for him in the Olympics when USA took home gold lasts offseason but regardless I I I guess things worked out for everyone durant got what he wanted went to a team that he was willing to sign an extension with in the Houston Rockets and the Warriors ended up getting Jimmy Butler and they’re a very entertaining basketball team now and they made a real big push this past season to to get into the postseason won a series against the number two seed and ended up falling short after Steph went down i think this team is in a solid spot but there are definitely some moves that need to be made around the margins in order for them to reach their ceiling and really compete with the top teams in the Western Conference in 2026 that will do it for today’s edition of Warriors Today by Chat Sports Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. On Golden State Warriors Trade Rumors:
“Only because just of our salary structure and the way it works with the amount of money you can use underneath the second apron. That probably restricts it more than anything for us in terms of pursuing the best roster we can. I think we’ll look at stuff. We’ll look at players that we really like that may — we’ve just got to be — it’s just almost impossible for us to add players in the salary range of guys we were looking at last summer since we’ve added Jimmy. That would be the only limiter, but in terms of finding talent, improving this team, we’re going to look under every rock to try and do that”

NBA Insider Brett Siegel On Kristaps Porzingis Trade Rumors:

  1. Warriors always have a lot of rumors about a star player but in the end they will get nothing or just some another role players 😂😂

  2. I know media needs to just throw names out there to keep people watching videos. Until Mike Dunleavy grows a pair and takes a chance we will probably have the same team we had last year. If you have NO plans to get better this offseason, trade Curry and start your rebuild now. Dunleavy and Lacob owe that much to Curry and Draymond for the last 10+ years they gave to this organization. You could get a Kings ransom for Curry that will set you up for the future. Look at Boston when they traded garnett and company to the Nets. They got multiple first round picks and then some.

  3. The warriors should trade buddy hield for Russell Westbrook then they should trade Jonathan Kuminga for jarret Allen then they should trade kevon looney for Naz Reid if they do that they are a title contender

  4. If they do that the line in will be steph at the Point gaurd jimmy at the shooting gaurd draymond green at the small foward jarret Allen at the power forward and at the center it can either be santos TJD or Quintet post I will do post for more hieght and shooting
