Everything we Learned from the Denver Nuggets Front Office Introductory Presser

what there’s Oh cold open jeez uh Nuggets introduced their front office today let’s talk about it [Music] [Applause] [Music] you’re live again hey we’re live again let’s get this bird off the ground shall we you ready for this one i’m ready for it what is up everybody welcome to the DMV nuggets podcast live from the Toyota lounge driven by your front range Toyota stores toyota the official vehicle of DMVr i’m your host Adam Mes i’m joined today by Brennan vote man I took a trip found out the Nuggets are indeed constructing a new front office made it almost back in time for the presser but in time for the show and I’m excited to break down uh some actual Nuggets news with you today my friend there is some actual Nuggets news as the Denver Nuggets introduced their front office we’re going to spend a lot of time going over that uh including one quote that I’m not surprised is the one that grabbed headlines to be honest with you you kind of notice it when it happens we’ll we’ll break all of that down and we’ll go over the themes later on in the show we might head to a haters ball cuz we haven’t all this news keeps dropping we haven’t got to hate on the Oklahoma City Thunder yet can you find it in your heart can I find it in my heart to look no look I Katie got traded we got a lot to hate on think I would ever hate on a champion after they’ve won a title this year or the last never never in my life actually I should have said that a new empire begins and old one falls that’s right we’ll discuss both of them but our top story today and I’m very This is a great day to be in the Toyota chat by the way talking along with everybody else cuz I am curious anytime there’s these pressers they’re streamed online i’m always curious what people think of them and it’s kind of nice you know this vote when you’re at the uh facility they now do them in the club lounge which they’ve made a set and everything i actually like it i think it’s I think it’s much better than the old setup it looks more it’s just better in all ways but anytime you’re up there I like it because I’m tuned into what’s happening and it’s happening live so everybody’s commenting on it and I’m completely unaware of it and that’s more or less true even now i haven’t seen the general reaction to it and I kind of like that so I can just kind of give my take and I might I don’t even know if my take is the one that most people are seeing from it yeah i mean it’s there’s this stuff is all available back on television and I think also you know there there’s folks in our position who are ready to break it down and so I think what that’s cultivated is a fan base that’s on top of it and and uh wants to watch this live wants to form their their own opinions before they hear ours and I don’t even know if our opinions line up so we’ll find out i’d highly doubt it to be honest with you because because there’s a lot i mean this is not like to me this is not one of those things where it’s very obvious you know is this going to work is it a complete failure all these different things but let’s get into what was said today because that’s what we’re breaking down we did talk about the hirings yesterday john Wallace is coming from Tim Connley staff in Minnesota he was previously in Denver for a couple years i don’t know how many years he was here in Denver i don’t remember exactly i think it was three three years and then three away three and then three over there and I think he said it’s been eight years that he’s been in the league somewhere prior to that as well did play at Georgetown he’s very connected a lot of players like him love him i’d say he’s pretty charismatic guy to be honest with you um I think likable and has a good network he will take over the vice president of player personnel role which is as far as we can understand the GM role sure seems like it but not quite the GM well because there’s another one i don’t know if it’s because of that i think there’s a couple things here one I think there is like this is an entry level position you know you can grow into the GM like you might elevate yourself to the GM okay if you remember uh Calvin Booth was the GM and Tim Connley the president of basketball operations and then when Tim left he remained the GM right which what would have changed had he become the president of basketball I think it’s in that sense I think it was mostly title and probably salary and all these different things so to me that’s I think the onus of a lot of this And then Ben Tenzer who has elevated to vice president of basketball operations i think that’s how they did a vice president let me pull up the exact title yeah the exact title they’re both vice presidents but and you know one of the questions coming into this was how was it going to work with two people who are in what roles and that was obviously one of the big themes josh Concrete had this quote i think they have really complimentary skill sets they’re going to serve this organization incredibly well moving forward but complimentary skill sets complimentary was like in harmony and these words were the buzzwords of today and this is how I I really do think it’s this way i mean obviously it’s been 24 hours more than 24 hours since we had our last show i really do think they’re looking at this and saying John Wallace is a basketball mind and a basketball strategist and an upandcomer you know this is their perspective an upandcomer whatever what have you ben Tenzer has worked every job in kunky sports and every job in a front office every single one of them and you know he is going to be a very structure process project manager type and so they both even though I think the orchard is going to show Ben 10 or above this is viewed more as he’s good at this he’s good at this and they’re going to complete each other as opposed to work in a hierarchy in the aggregate the skill set of a president and a GM in the aggregate but maybe not delineated as black and white now we could start there with something you can understand and then go coming off of organizational dis misalignment disalignment misalignment misalignment does it do you need a pecking order do you need a more defined pecking order would just sort of be my first question off the bat we joked yesterday that it’s kind of like when if you’re in a relationship or you see this on sitcoms I guess I can’t really speak from experience you say you’re in a relationship your girlfriend never cooks but everything else is great and then you break up and then you start dating a chef and you’re like “Yeah cuz I always wanted someone to cook.” It’s like “Was that the most important thing?” No but it’s I without it for so long that now I have it as I’m like overvaluing it it almost feels a little bit like that you know the Nuggets front office had strengths and weaknesses under the old regime and under this new one it’s like “Yeah but they’re going to be harmonious like that’s not going to be like that last one that wasn’t.” What I will say on the John Wallace side of this because I’ve been thinking a lot more about why he was picked we heard Matt Lloyd which Matt Lloyd would have been a name you know he’s been tossed around john Wallace kind of off the radar i think it actually fits the Kronkey’s MO over the last several years whether that’s a good thing or bad thing I don’t know but John Wallace as who do you look to hire you look to hire a young front office person not a Matt Lloyd who’s like the next guy up everybody kind of knows but find somebody who is young obviously I think there’s something of like price consideration here young means cheap but also somebody who’s like a really good eye for talent because that’s what the Cronies have identified messiah Jerry was a wellrespected young scout that everyone thought could be a great exec tim Connley was a scout young and everyone’s like he probably could be john Wallace I think was hired because he has thought of at least in behind the scenes as a very bright mind that is like “Hey this guy is the guy everyone’s going to talk about in a couple years and we’re going to get him cuz we only need half of his brain at the moment right and on the ground level in terms of the financial commitment meaning if you’re right on who he is or who he will be rather than than paying the established price right for a GM you’re sort of like a a draft pick kind of betting on the way he will develop into just that now I use the word develop it also does mean going with someone with less experience totally mystery box right uh so like just for for sake of argument you could have like confidence in his ability to maybe grow into the job and then go I just use the word grow do they have time for that yeah so that’s an interesting way of looking at it as well um but yes John Wallace fits the bill josh talked about wanting to consult outside of the organization to identify people like this and of course as you mentioned at the top of the show Wallace is a mix of two things they mentioned maybe needing he has gone to Minnesota developed new relationships in some sense can return with a set of fresh eyes he’s also been here before so when they talk about continuity of relationships which seems important to them Jon is not necessarily a brand new face to the likes of Jokic and Murray and many of the people still working there so you could look at him in as an attempt to find the best of both worlds in that way i think they’re betting on him being somebody that is like yeah the next big thing and that’s why they’re they’re going here is there considerations that the Cronis don’t like paying a lot of money for front offices i there’s no question they’ve done this too many times for it to be like hey that is clearly how they go now I will say that over time I think they have paid their front office guys more but it’s almost like we get a guy on cheap early on prove it deal prove it deal and then we’ll raise you know I think that Josh Kroni does is a type of guy who will be far too often too slow to fire a coach or a front office than too quick and I think a lot of that has to do with he looks at this position as stability is more as as important as anything else and so if we’re turning over all the time that’s bad so you get a young guy on a cheap deal but it’s like yes but we’re hoping he’s the guy for the next 10 years right we hope this is the guy that finishes out the Jokic era and even starts the next era you know after that so we’re making a long-term play now you contrast that with the fact that you do have Jokic in a ticking clock and so I understand the concern but that is long term i think that is part of what’s going on here and then on top of that they’re looking at him as saying likely he is not ready to be a typical Pobo or GM but we’re going to pair him with somebody who does have the other half of that equation i don’t think Ben Tanzer is a brilliant basketball mind but I do think that he is a good project manager knows everybody and so now it’s like okay we’re going to combine those two people into one person and now we have them working in harmony right and Ben who grew up in the organization has worked in every facet um almost every job you could have in this organization on the front office path which he talked about today has some which he also addressed law school experience particularly with the cap which is something that every front office needs to have a very keen set of eyes on right now right in in this environment uh and then you know also we talked about relationships and and you know Ben Tender is a guy who does have some agent relationships actually a ton of them a ton of them and I don’t know you could probably Yeah so some of this is his dad was an agent so this is part of it his dad was a CIA agent not an MEA but in in talent and he worked for I believe William Morris for before working for uh KSE and then on top of that obviously all the deals and different things he’s really close with the Telm family and it’s you know just grew up with different people who now work in front offices and work in agencies so I think that you know that was one of the things that I had brought up about concern is how connected are they and I think you know after kind of poking around a little bit more there’s at least some connection there now I’m not trying to sell anybody on this just real quick i’m trying to explain the rationale and then we’ll get into our critiques and our visions of it but at the moment I’m trying to tell you that I think John Wallace they view as a guy who 5 years from now will be considered one of the great like “Oh that guy knows basketball.” Ben Tenzer is a guy who has been through every part of the organization so he knows how everything works from top to bottom how everything works and you pair those guys together and you find harmony now I would call that unorthodox well actually I’d call it abnormal but Josh Cranky would call it unorthodox which I don’t know if that’s better by the way he interrupted a question and said “I don’t know if it’s abnormal maybe unorthodox.” Didn’t it feel like he had written the unorthodox line down and the question was close enough that he was like “Ah yeah let me pull.” You’re right you might also say “Yeah kind of means the same thing.” So the full quote abnormal it’s an interesting word i think that unorthodox could be another another word but I think that really most everything that has got us to this point has been unorthodox we have hired firsttime guys before and our best player is the 41st pick in a very unorthodox manner of the way he plays the game everything about us is unorthodox yeah um about that quote by the way here’s another perspective that I have heard or or at least that I believe some people might be considering the new CBA is different enough from the old ones and previous ones that is anybody actually experienced in this that is not currently a GM because I think that it’s so new that if you have assembled different team I’ll even use Bob Myers as an example he didn’t assemble a team under the CBA now it’s up to your own interpretation whether yeah but the differences don’t mean anything there’s a skill set that’s malleable enough that if they did it 10 years ago they could do it do it now but I think there’s another thing that’s like hey all the things that were true about roster building 10 years ago are no longer true and every team is dealing with that right now and so a new G GM old GM at least this is a new skill set that we’re like we don’t know if you can solve this puzzle the old puzzle was too different i think that is a is a legitimate way of looking at it now just another counter would be but Bob Myers has experience in another executive pressing back uh trying to rip him off uh all these things that literally just being in the position now we can draw a distinction with with being familiar with the cap as it is and I think that’s honestly a good point um this seems this is a fluid thing the collective understanding of of how this cap has changed the league what the risk calculation looks like some teams are just going you know what four four or five first round picks for a guy that might make us you know there’s a whole different way of looking at the at this league right now so that I think that that part is fair and well it’s even like Mike Danton revolutionized the game twice first with the 7 seconds or less Suns and then again with Harden and Houston and you could ask like so does that mean like if he coached again now he would be great again maybe but I don’t know is it that he’s kind of like the league has just adapted his philosophy and he’s lost his market edge i think there’s at least something to if you get a retread GM and you’re like well yeah you built that team in 2012 to do it again it’s like well none of that stuff is the same now we have a different circumstance and you’ve been out of the game for a bit and you’re more expensive and we have questions so maybe that’s part of it um no but it’s I think it’s a fair like interesting way of looking at at what we have right now is a a fluid league and ecosystem in a way that we have not seen before all right we’re going to take a break again on the other side i want to get all of the like themes out first and then we’re going to analyze it and give our perspective on these themes but I kind of want to at least like share what was said and how I interpreted those things first before getting into our analysis uh when I it comes to finding new flooring for my home or business no interpretations no questions no surprises um can we just know exactly what we’re looking at exactly how it’s going to fit and exactly how it’s going to look in my space in my home uh talking the furniture the coloring right that I that I’ve sort of picked out my aesthetic how is the flooring going to change it up and can I make a can I can I get a look at this without making an expensive righty back here segment two and we’re breaking down what was said today uh at the introductory press conference for the new front office my favorite quote I think if I just say like what I enjoyed the most ben Tenzer when he was talking about getting the job he says when I got the in the chair meaning when I became the main guy I felt really comfortable like like he was surprised he expected to be more nervous and he said I worked with Messiah I worked with Tim I worked with Calvin three firsttime GMs that he helped in their transition to being GM and he’s like so I’ve actually been through the experience and I felt prepared because of that and you know this is obviously something Josh Kronkey has been saying in his various press conferences that he’s been impressed with uh Ben Tenzer’s ability to you know navigate this but him saying like I actually felt comfortable at this move is interesting to me it also implies that I think one thing that’s been a little overlooked as we get tongue-in-cheek about it Nugget still don’t have a GM well they did name an interim general manager which is to say while I I was am critical at how long it took and I understand all the anxiety simply put someone was in fact there to answer the phones um and and have these types of discussions internally and sit in the chair proverbally so to speak it’s good to know he was comfortable it is of course the concern when you’re when you’re working with a first- timer right when you’re hiring a first- timer it’s Ben it’s a candid quote it’s an honest quote ben is I think pretty earnest you know i I think he’s not going to reveal like we talk about GM’s talk calvin Booth would like spill everything yeah maybe not so intentionally so but he would put his foot in his mouth sometimes i don’t think Ben’s going to put his foot in his mouth too much because I don’t think he’ll ever say anything but he is earnest on things like this where he’s almost not afraid to he came off today in my opinion a little bit like you know the guy living his childhood dream you know happy un unashamed in being happy to be here correct unashamed and being happy to be here man it’s a 20-year arc his opening quote “When I got this internship with the Nuggets back in 2005 I felt like I hit the jackpot you can only imagine how I feel now.” Kind of a banger it was also man David Alamman too and his presser got a little emotional when he started i mean these are people that have worked a long time for for this opportunity again that framing also scares a lot of fans but you better not ruin it better not ruin it and there’s not a lot of runway and there is a lot of pressure but congrat honestly but you know even before all the layers of attempting to analyze it and looking at the optics sincere congratulations to to all men involved uh on John Wallace though it’s kind of new eyes old ties so to speak because he was here and then he was in Minnesota and I thought one of the I thought one of the funnier moments I asked him I didn’t at the time I didn’t think this was an incendiary question and I said like hey the you work for the Timberwolves Timberwolves have owned Denver for the last here yeah Josh loved that one yeah that was funny but it was so we clearly the team saw weaknesses in Denver like is that what are those weaknesses and how do you address them and what I thought was insightful in addition to kind of joking and he talked about depth and he talked about different things but one of the things he said that stood out to me is he says “I think you’re further along than you think you are.” And he’s using the U the Royal U here basically meaning we but he’s talking about a lot of the young guys and the belief that this team is still in contention it’s not like this team needs I think that’s one of the themes from today is this idea of one there’s not a ton of flexibility but two that there’s not necessarily needed that they have to be very smart navigating tight windows but it’s not like it’s a throwaway year the team is actually hey man you’re closer than you think you are couple of quotes really gerine to that first of all obviously word of the day margins I think it came up several times and and you know one of the first things John Wall said was we have to be really conscious of the margins because they know they’re really close right now and they also know that to be honest they’re probably working with some limited options here Adam i would not hold my breath for big time moves it’s about hitting on the margins for an org that feels like they were close he did say specifically feels like they have to add some more shooting obviously address some of the defensive concerns but said “I think we have young individuals here that can step up and do that as we continue to develop them as well.” And you know we’ll look outside and see what makes sense as well the other quote there is um when he looks at the roster at hand you have high IQ you have high positional size across the board you’re further along than you think you are which you just referenced so between the starters between the youth he believes in the notion that they’re close but you have to nail the things that make you closer and we know that the Nuggets will be working with some very limited options to try to shore up those margins i think another reason that the Nuggets went the route that they did I mean the main reason is look they’ve always done this they’ve always spent very little on new front office new regimes and they’ve I think mostly been pretty good at identifying that talent um so this does follow an MO whether you like it or not it does follow an MO but I think another reason that they made the decision that they did is I do not believe the organization views there being the possibility for a lot of flexibility this year deals fall into your lap things happen who knows but I don’t know and one of the reasons I think it took so long is I don’t know that they looked at this off seasonason and were like well we got to explore all these different trades and all this i think they look at and said don’t have a draft pick nor should we probably trade in to get one if they trade in to get a second rounder I wouldn’t be surprised but I just would be surprised if Denver tried to get a player in the first round of this year’s draft i don’t expect it it wouldn’t make sense to me uh I don’t think they have the flexibility they have the mid-level exception they have the minimums they don’t have like the ability to sign a ton of players and I don’t think they view all of their players currently under contract as very tradable so I think that there was a little bit of a Denver things Denver has to do are sort of small and they have to get them right it’s not that they don’t value them a lot but that it’s not like you’re bringing in no matter who you brought in it was going to drastically change the flexibility Denver had this off season right that’s correct because and as we’ve tried to outline even before any of these comments came out you could be fully on board with Major Premise of of trading Michael Porter Jr so does the team on the other end of the line so does their medical staff when he goes through a physical you could be fully in support of major premise jamal Murray is no longer good enough second option but are you confident that there’s a trade out there with this new extension that immediately upgrades you as well they’re looking at this and going “No it’s about adding depth it’s about staying healthy.” They are behind the eightball with how expensive their their top five is and they do have to find a way to keep those guys healthy by not having to play them a bunch one of my favorite quotes was from John Wallace saying “Yeah the West has gotten younger and deeper and depth is one of those things that you have to address you have to add pieces that allow those guys to rest some injuries are uncontrollable right but are you doing everything you can to mitigate injury risk maybe that’s that’s fundamentally impossible without restructuring this salary cap some might argue that i think it’s pretty clear that’s not how the team looks at it whether you agree or not they’re saying it’s close can we shore up the margins can we seal up the floor so that these guys are standing on two working legs with two working arms when it comes to the playoffs now here’s the money quote because along these same lines Josh was asked about collective bargaining constraints and he says “Going into that second apron is not necessarily something that we’re scared of but the wrong person gets injured and I never want to have to contemplate trading number 15.” Lot to unpack here so this is the co-ote that has now millions of views on social media because you never want to in my opinion in his position even invoke those words you could talk about you never want to be in a tight backed into a corner you never want to be in a tight spot but just saying the words trade Jokic or trade 15 to me is like it doesn’t matter what it’s what’s the scene in uh it’s Meet the Parents when he’s at the very end and he’s having a meltdown and he’s on the plane and he’s like “It’s not like I said there’s a bomb in here.” And he’s like “It’s like I said there wasn’t a bomb.” I was going to say I was going to say uh it’s it’s sort of like being an oil executive and and you’re uh some a consultant hands you a piece of paper before you speak publicly and it just says maybe don’t support clean renewable energy maybe just don’t say those words at any point in time you could argue I think very easily you could give this a super generous interpretation that either a just a little bit of word vomit b what he was trying to say was you don’t want to pe be in a position where Jokic wants you to trade him or but the point is the number one thing you had to not say out loud today were the words trade Jokic and I I just I don’t want to be I don’t want to to to start a forest fire over this right like it’s it’s it’s a little it’s just a little misstep i don’t think they really are thinking of trading Jokic but how are the fans going to grab on to anything but that man that’s the quote now that everyone’s going to talk about because you said those words in that order and I to me it just felt like a very avoidable quote regardless of what he he really meant behind it i think what he Well let’s break down what he literally meant here he was talking about the idea of making a too aggressive move right now given the CBA and going into an apron the second apron where you don’t you know the thing about the second apron and I I think just to get this out of the way the owners voted for it in my opinion in part for competitive balance because we’re starting to get some really rich owners that don’t mind just spending through the roof if all you have to do is pay extra tax we’re starting to get these $80 billion you know dollar net worth owners that are like “Oh what is a $200 million tax bill to me i don’t care.” So you can just buy championships they’re trying to avoid that but I think also they’re trying to give owners an excuse to not spend too much money like ah I would do it but I would lose a draft pick and I wouldn’t have flexibility and what he’s saying is the risk for us is you go into that second apron now you can’t wiggle out of what you are you’re kind of all in and if a player gets hurt Joic might look around and be like “So we can’t make any trades and we lost a draft pick and this player’s out for a year.” Like then at that point he would be afraid i just don’t think that needed to be said i think if he could take that line back he would i sure would and and it’s one of those ones where it’s the first time ever anyone in the organization has ever invoked the idea of Jokic being traded and it just feels like once that word is ever evoked it never goes back that you can’t put that genie back in the bottle not that there’s anything to it just that now it exists in the air it’s like you know the scene in Jaws where he’s like “No don’t blow the whistles we’re trying to avoid the It’s like dude you just blew a whistle and now everyone’s trampling each other.” And no I don’t think they’re seriously considering Jokic or that was the point of the quote but it is it is what people will see and we’ll talk about and it just felt entirely avoidable i think it’s just look man it was a misstep it was a misstep it was it was something that but at the same time I think that what he’s really signaling is a a fear of that like we don’t ever want to put ourselves in that position and what’s really important and why this quote actually matters is because I think it actually signals how Josh Kroni at least views this whole situation which is would you go all in for Jokic next year or the year after for this one year where you feel like you just have a great chance or would you try to give yourself the best chance over the next five six seven years whatever it may be and I think Josh is clearly indicating the latter like we think that we would rather have the same title odds we had this year for six more years rather than one or two years where we feel like we have better odds but we’re going to fall off and even though he didn’t say that he said in a way that’s more distracting to me that is the philosophy that you should expect from the Cronies from here on out and I hope that they give a roster that has better odds than this year but I think when they look at the balance of those things they’re not going to risk one for the other the heart at the heart of that sentiment is something Calvin Booth tried to articulate also in a way that people hated totally yep and I don’t think people want to hear about gap years anymore because that’s what he said was like “Yeah we’re actually going to be worse next year.” And even if that was the truth it’s like just don’t say that just don’t say that and so yeah now it all it all kind of sounds like gap year gap year gap year you know what I mean and I can I can really un work harder behind that to try to trace all of the logic but I’m not going to blame any fan who’s going like “Man this doesn’t sound good.” I mean I got text I got texts from a lot of people that were just like “What the heck is this?” Yeah because it’s an easy quote to cut and it’s I mean it’s a bad quote so it’s it was just avoidable but also now it’s it’s the conversation about the Second Apron 2 as a fan you KIK I get it but now you’re sort of throwing at at me like I already had to accept that you didn’t want to pay for KCP but now you didn’t want to pay for KCP because it might have put you in a position where you had to trade Jokic like why do I have to listen to this at all um do you agree though with the general sentiment that I think Josh views this as we probably have five six more years of Jokic and we just want all of those to be good chances to win as opposed to risking a peak with valleys around it i mean I I I would Yes it’s I think if you’re not trading Jokic I don’t think Jokic wants to go anywhere and I like the idea of keeping this window alive as long as possible um I don’t even know if they necessarily in hindsight with how his season went i was in favor of saying they just should have gone in the second apron and kept KCP anyway and kept both of those guys i think with hindsight it’s arguable maybe there was some wisdom in moving on from KCP with how his contract worked out in Orlando but I just I don’t I’m sort of wary of just kind of accepting this idea that like yeah they they shouldn’t go into the Second Apron i mean may maybe not just to do it but I I don’t want to be so entirely resistant or condition the fans who aren’t smart and don’t don’t need me to do that but into just accepting it on principle if that makes sense right and I don’t and I think that’s part of what he said we’re not afraid to do it we’ll see if that’s true i hope that like we’re not just hey going into that does not mean we’re trying harder there’s other considerations and unfortunately that consideration was Jokic asking for a trade we got to take a break let’s continue this conversation though on the other side all right boost your confidence from head to toe with Mando all righty we are back here segment three don’t forget we have our draft show tomorrow ct Fazio is going to be joining us man our draft expert nuggets don’t have a pick so show will be more about the building I think around and you never know man it is the draft the crazier things have happened maybe the Nuggets do some kind of big trade but we are going to be doing our live show tomorrow and CG Fazio will be joining us as our draft expert everybody in Nuggets Twitter knows him he’s one of the best at in not just Nuggets Nation but everybody breaking it down and I’m excited to have him join in the show so make sure you check that out tomorrow night um I think the traits are going to be the most exciting part honestly yeah and indeed it has been an active trade market and I’m just going to be honest yeah between the order of operations and hiring and the timeline and the quotes we’ve heard probably not expecting a first round draft pick from the Denver Nuggets but if they do Danny Wolf man hit my guy and we’ll be live to talk about it and CT will be there to explain the implications of who they might be able to draft in that spot so what a treat for us uh a couple other things here as we kind of go into it um the margins you mentioned the margins being the buzzwords um we’ve got this is John Wallace we’ve got to be very deliberate make sure we find some more shooting address defensive concerns give Adelman coach Adelman the tool more tools in his toolbox but he talked about depth role players defense as areas the team needs but mainly it was depth the guys he’s like “The main guys on this team are great we have to give them a break.” And so it’s like de he is coming in with the idea of like “Can we just add three more playable players to the rotation so that Denver can have the enough to survive a regular season?” I think that’s absolutely the big question literally can they by the way not like will they can they that’s the big question because I think it is undoubtedly true that the Nuggets have showed themselves to really still be well within the realm of contention if they could only be healthy but as I mentioned w with the John Wallace quote earlier about yeah allowing them to rest that you just referenced it’s they can’t kill themselves to get there and even though OKC does have the MVP in the finals MVP and Tyresese Hallebertton was amazing um you know their story was built largely on depth and it allowed them to sort of be their freshest selves push themselves in the in the in in the playoffs pick people up full court not worry about what kind of strain it’s putting on their calves or their bodies and these are just a luxury that Denver hasn’t had in the last 2 years they had it in 2023 cuz they got some of these margin picks right will it be the case going forward i I it that’s the big question is it even possible to do with the way their their cap sheet works i think it’s possible but I understand fans who are feels like the that runway is awful short the other thing was about young players man player development and he was asked about Julian Strawler Pton Watson who is by the way there he was there can negotiate extension this summer so clapping in the background i do want to point out the last presser we all congratulated Julian for him being there and then said maybe it’s something Payton can do yeah yeah then he shows up there today deron Holmes also there david Adam also there as well got to talk to Deron Holmes actually for a little bit what’s that Hall was also there yeah there you go man so some Nuggets representing in the building tonight but when he was asked John Walsh was asked about Holmes Watson Strawther he said they’re good players is the easiest way to develop is time meaning they just needed time to get to where they are but then this is the key quote he said “We’re restructuring our approach.” And to me this is the most important thing i have long said that I don’t know that the Nuggets’ player development approach has been great there are good people in that player development staff so it’s not a knock on them but I don’t know that they have had a approach that if you were Calvin Booth and you were going to come in and say “We’re going to go young and we’re going to have young players and they have to hit.” I don’t think the Nuggets were built to make that happen i think they hoped it would they hoped it would meanwhile they had a coach who felt like if he took that approach his team might be in the playin so what you know I do get the sense between the that these three folks that make up the new leadership team outside of Josh David Adelman John Wallace Ben Tenzer do seem to be in agreement on that that it’s sort of all feudal if if that can’t get off the ground anyway you might still be able to win a lot of games get to the playoffs get close but then are we just having the same conversation so I’m hopeful that’s the case uh not necessarily because I think any of these young guys are blue chip diamond in the roughs you know guaranteed to hit or anything like that it’s just the path that’s left it’s the path that’s available to them so everyone has to be on the same page about that and then if it doesn’t work how to pivot from there and and I do think we will see a Nuggets organization that again not something the fans like uh will embrace youth perhaps even more next year yeah the last one here but I by the way this is the biggest thing to me is just how do the Nuggets change the way they operate if Julian Strawther and Don Holmes are so important to Denver just having 11 12 guys to get through the regular season eight guys to get through the playoffs if it all comes down to that are you just running it back in a structure standpoint and is that just because that would be wishful thinking to me not organizational alignment organizational structure when he says we’re going to what is the exact quote we’re restructuring our approach i want to hear more about that i want to hear more about what’s the restructured approach that those guys are going to be put in position to succeed uh and why they believe that the last part here though that I think is compelling Jokic is due is in line for an extension that he can sign now Josh said “We’re definitely going to offer it will explain every financial parameter and will support him but also said basically we don’t know if he’s going to sign it and what he means by that is in my opinion is twofold yoke can sign the extension now he could extend it next year based the later he extends it the more money it is because it extends basically to 5 years out minus whatever’s on your deal shout out to Stat Squatch I had to ask him about this so if he asks extends it now I think it tacks on is it three years onto the back end of his deal if he waits it’s not like Jokic could you know anything could happen it’s not like Nuggets aren’t going to offer him an extension next year they’ll offer it no matter what if he waits till next summer he could add four years onto the back end of it like he could push it out even further so and with more money coming in so I think that is why that’s part of what he’s saying here is we’re going to present him with it because he’s a great enough player always just try to get the most you can you know as soon as possible but we are going to explain to him that hey if you sign it now you do this if you sign it later you do this and this is how it affects the team so he has the full complete financial transparency and literacy that he needs to look at the whole situation um and not just one contract and yeah I think that’s he’s as he said which is how they try to approach it and I think largely this is an organization that has tried to be player friendly in that way you know and as I’ve said that the Kronies are are generally unwilling to or like have this mo in terms of how they spend on the front office which I think is undeniably the case you know they will spend uh on the floor right they will they will sort of create these kind of relationships with their players uh they’ll sign guys early they’ll explain the full picture that that I mean the reality is one way or another Jokic is signing that extension so it’s just Joic’s choice yeah so those and we’ll see what happens i mean honestly I think we all want him to sign it earliest as possible just cuz you don’t want to get into a feeling where you know things go south next year and now all of a sudden we’re all we’re all worried about it but at the same time I’d rather Yolk be here for the longest possible amount of time so you know we’ll see what happens let’s now get in though to an analyzing how we feel about that those are the main things is there anything else that you felt was main sort of talking points look I just don’t think it can be overstated that what they’ve given to us in terms of public quotes is just like yeah they are with the exception of the exceptions that are at their disposal they are largely running this thing back now maybe restructuring the approach in the front office from a from a bird’s eye view but yeah you hear the word margins you hear the word depth this is this whether you do or not this team believes in what the top five can do and it’s all about what they can do around that and I just think that that’s been underlined by who we’ve heard from this summer three times now so you didn’t like this presser i mean look I don’t I would just say if I could have asked for anything in the world to come from this presser it would not be the words Trey Joic ever uttered it’s not that I’m Do you think that’s going to have a lasting impact or is that a thing the internet’s going to have a field day for 24 hours the second one but all the same it is the instant reaction to the presser so I think it just can’t be glossed over right because it’s like everybody has their worst fears in the back of their head and that kind of just brought it Yeah to the front you just could have avoided it is all I’m saying um you know I don’t there’s a bit of I think Josh is explaining a lot to the point where you know he’s he’s explained a lot of why he doesn’t want to go into the surn apron and and we appreciate the logic but after a while I think it just starts to feel like all right you’re not going into the second apron i would hope that they do if if they had to um I I actually h I’m highly intrigued by the potential of John Wallace and Ben Tenzer actually together i think John Wallace might be really good at this i don’t want to try to gloss over it took them a long time to arrive at this conclusion that I don’t think we could ignore like the optics of it also probably was the cheaper option than really going aggressively after Bob Myers whether that was prudent or not I think that’s pretty obviously like they they’re sticking with this kind of it’s shark teeth with Ben Tenzer and it’s it’s shark teeth with John Wallace he was here he was here so in that sense it is more of the same like I don’t think you have guarantees that like Josh keeps saying words like allin but I think we’re kind of waiting for that to manifest in terms of financial investment having said all of that spending money doesn’t get We have seen teams eager to make big moves eager to spend big money and it’s blown up in their face i’m not saying it’s one to one with spending equals success i just think as as far as some of the things that the FA that I my read that the fan base wanted to have sort of alleviated I don’t think any of those concerns were alleviated is that fair um yeah i mean I think it is my my own push back is this i think the Nuggets really dropped the ball over the last two years this is where the problem is so no matter what they did now I don’t know that we would feel better about it if you hire Bob Meyers for a bunch of money which I think was never happening but if you hired him would the fan base have felt better what would they have expected this summer would they expect a big swing a big trade and if his quotes were similar about Stanning Pat right right so I’m not I don’t think it’s that simple right but I do think and I don’t know if there was another Bob Myers out there like was it we Bob Myers is the one guy everybody knows but was there somebody else that was like “Hey they didn’t look for this guy or that guy.” Look I don’t know if it was right maybe it was that Matt Lloyd also was more expensive or that he wasn’t an option and he or they didn’t want to go that Matt Lloyd to me is Ben Tenzer or they didn’t want to go that direction i was going to say I think that’s two sides of the same coin but all I’m trying to All I’m trying to say is like same all these doors are left wide open in terms of fans to look at this and let the anxiety flood in i think now I I but also man all you can kind of look at after a press conference is optics and some on the spot words and it’s not look man like both of the guys that were hired I think deserve some level of benefit of the doubt they just got there we don’t know they’re bad at this like they they could come in and do an awesome job and I will change my tune in a heartbeat i just it does feel like okay well it’s inexperience i I don’t know that it it kind of fits their MMO in terms of how they spend and then the words trade Jokic were uttered so I just think if you pulled the average fan on the street they would say “Not my favorite press conference.” I think Ben Tenzer knows Joic and this is an important thing knows the organization but knows Nicola Joic i think John Wallace knows Nicola Joic and I think those things are sneaky important you bring in somebody and David and David Adam by the way same thing like you bring in too many people that Yoke has to get to know earn the trust and all those things to me that’s like everything flows through Jokic like does this work with Jokic john Wallace gets Jokic i think Jokic gets John Wallace ben Tenzor Adelman and I think that’s a sneaky part of the decision- making here was like you’re not you’re bringing in outside perspective but you’re maintaining a level of continuity still through the staff that’s come through here so that all the battles you’ve gone through you you know about those you know why this personality type didn’t work out and this guy did and why the team liked this and worked when this was happening and fell apart when this was happening i think those things are important now you’re betting on just how good is John Wallace because I think we know how good Ben Tenzer is at his role in this i don’t know how good John Wallace is i don’t know if he can build a roster that makes sense around Jokic i don’t know if he can work the margins this off season to give the Nuggets a roster that is going to I don’t I think the Nuggets should be good enough to compete i don’t think the Nuggets are going to be favorites next year no matter what they do i just don’t think that’s going to happen but they should be able to have a team where you go into it and and as the year goes on you’re like “Yeah they could do it.” More so than we even felt this year just like “Yes they could do this.” Look someone in the chat just said “What could they have said?” And I think that’s a very that would alleviate concerns and I think that’s really fair i think more specifics from John Wallace about what his ro because I asked him a very specific one i’m answering his question what could he have said i wanted I wanted to know like what’s your basketball philosophy this is what a team must do and specifically with Jokic you were here you built the ultimate Jokic stopper team like you must know what a Jokic team looks like and he kind of gave the broad like depth defense and it’s like yes I know those are basketball universals i want to know what you think this team needs and I don’t feel like I got that i wish I would have yeah we definitely don’t have a a very picture perfect idea of what his vision is right what I You need guys that have a wide variety of skill sets you need high IQ guys you need unselfish guys and you know this type of player that something of that nature would have been like okay that’s your basketball philosophy and maybe even more just for posterity sake just so people’s minds don’t run away from them you know more clarity on you know when when he was asked are they going to add more people to the front office really kind of vague opened question maybe maybe not um what is Josh’s new role he did as he said I won’t be around every day but it wasn’t a definitive I am or I am not president of basketball operations which as we last left off he he was left as essentially acting in that role you know and the language in in the press conference is that they will report to him so is he the president is he not um so you know I there wasn’t necessarily a ton of clarity coming out of it but here’s my the point I was going to make is the one thing that would actually alleviate concern more than anything else would be getting the subsequent three signings right right if if if they can find some signings that encourage people and their success on the court that’s all that matters but today is Tuesday June 24th so on the show what we have to talk about is the presser and I just don’t know if it was the cleanest one yeah I I’m less bothered by the presser today i get why everybody’s going to be upset with with Josh Krony’s one misstep and I get it it’ll I think it will be a 24 48 hour news cycle type thing and then people will forget it but um here’s what I will note how I try to read these things sometimes i thought when Josh Kroni gave his first press conference they fired Michael Malone i thought he handled himself extremely well he had confident humility to him like you know like confidence while also kind of taking the blame and I thought it was a good press conference i thought the next one had kind of an edge to it that was weird and I thought the third one where they introduced David Adelman which by all accounts should have been the most upbeat to me felt the most dead the most like almost like there was a weight over the organization in this weird way um I thought this one had the most sort of confidence to it like there were a lot of people there people all seemed very excited and when I say people I mean the organization not like media members and stuff i bet the organization seemed very confident and excited today and I’ll bet honestly Josh Crony had to do a bunch of media availabilities with with altitude and stuff right afterwards but I bet he hopped right into the elevator and checked his phone and was like “What the heck?” You know what I mean cuz I think he was feeling very like that went well oh the trade yokage yeah the trade not going well not going well but I I say that because I know it’s a small thing but it’s an important one and that I thought the organization has presented itself as not confident or happy the last two press conferences and I thought they did in this one and for whatever that’s worth there is this feeling of like hey this is who we are now we’re we we believe in the direction we have and we’re ready to go whether they’re right or wrong I don’t know I think there’s plenty of reason for skepticism but it would have been worse if it felt like the DA one where I was like man do you guys believe in this what’s going on here wake up perhaps the guys and and one sense that I’m getting is is and maybe that’s all very under Josh Kronkey’s vision and rule but the guys in the leadership boat are going to be rowing I think in the same direction at least hopefully so so I would bet on harmony between those two it’s unconventional because usually these things are hierarchical and these ones are not my thing is knowing Ben Tender you know fairly well i just don’t cannot picture him being a guy who is going to fight i think he knows what he is and knows what he is not and I think he is a guy that is like takes ideas and stuff not somebody that’s like I don’t know man i kind of want to go get Sar again we only know those guy these guys so well would you describe Ben Tenzor as a toxic person no i mean absolutely not exactly at least not yet welcome to the big leagues Ben and and seriously congratulations to those involved and I am excited about what they could do together um and look the the press conference pales in comparison to the subsequent work get the roster stuff right we start ball starts rolling again all is well but I just don’t think people are walked away from today going now I feel great yeah I still feel like the Nuggets are in a position right now and I’ve thought this like the further we we get away from the season i just the Nuggets starting five is good i know everybody wants to trade Murray trade Porter get rid of this guy and that guy and everything else starting five is really good it’s always been about can you build enough depth they’re going to have Payton Watson who was there to today i think they’re going to have him they’re going to have uh Julian Strawther and now the key is okay that’s seven guys two off the bench that are still question marks can you add three more guys all your roster spots can you add three guys you’re going to have an MLE you’re going to have vet minimums to offer can you get three guys that can play it’s not impossible for I still think it’s difficult and we’re never going to feel I don’t think there’s any scenario where we go into next year thinking the Nuggets are winning it lock it in put the bets in now where you know we’re winning it but I do think that it’s very realistic for them to nail those three picks and be able to get to the trade deadline where it’s like yeah that was a coherent 10man ro rotation yeah that’s worthy of 55 games and let’s see what happens now as you get to the next move which would be the trade deadline uh and let’s see if the Nuggets can get one game better than they were last year which is the last two years and and it’s frustrating that it’s it’s insanely frustrating that the two seasons ended in the exact same spot and they have Jokic which is why they’re sort of under a different pressure than every other organization because while we are in the air of parody he is still the best player alive by a wide margin so but I still it’s still worth noting like this is not a complete implosion upon winning the title like they they not yet at least not yet at least and it could be that’s exactly where they’re headed man and I’m I’m very wary of this i’m I’m open to this i just I just also know it is possible that if you get these signings right and you have a coherent second unit and these guys are a little less tired I just don’t think it’s off the table i’m not giving up on what this team can can do next year at all and I’m curious to see what this new front office can do together i am as well so we’ll see you felt really rough I think about the presser today i felt neutral neither good nor bad about it i just It sound like I was like man that was amazing i’m not going to lose sleep over it yeah I just feel neutral about it we’ll see i am hopeful i am in a weird way when you get through the initial like gut reaction to a thing which is they hired two rookie G you know whatever all these things when you get away from that there is an excitement of the newness of it you know what I mean this is a new I want to find out what is John Wallace’s basketball philosophy is he good at this i have no idea is he good at this and I’m excited for the newness even if it is like a fearful excitement they needed to go in a new direction undoubtedly so driving down a road you’ve never been before here a little excited but are we lost we’re not sure and and look they did what I think this loops around over to Highway 36 on the other side but we’re not sure and it’s not wildly uncommon to look at the situation and go we need a change and it starts with leadership positions before the roster like that that happens but if if they fall short again it’s going to be a rough summer i will tell you this this is one thing I have heard i say this with confidence the Nuggets did interview other people this was not a thing where I know a lot of people were wondering like did they bring anyone in did they bring anyone in nuggets interviewed a lot of candidates um some of which I don’t know how many of which you like have heard of but some of which I know are just like you know people that are have been discussed as upand coming as and maybe even a little bit more known than John i think John I will say this about John Wallace i think he was um you know that’s a bit of a like Pton Watson as a firstrounder like I think they’re betting on it yeah yeah they’re betting on it you know but uh but they also have familiarity with him and so I’m I’m curious i am excited because he’s a different personality john Wallace different personality than Calvin Booth different personality than Tim Connley it’s uh it’s a new type of person at the helm ben Tenzer same thing i mean he’s different from I don’t know who to compare Ben to in previous front offices ben himself i know i’m just uh No I maybe that’s the point man it’s not really comparable they have a new structure now so I think the big question with the front office put interpretations of the pressures aside now i think the big question for the front office is does this fluid collaborative leadership structure ultimately benefit a cohesive vision or will that will that rear its head as a problem down the line if there was a battle let’s say there’s a three-way battle between Ben Tenzer John Wallace and David Adelman who do you think has the sort of like the muscle in that trio the muscle i’m just saying like Cal and and Malone both would dig their heels and clearly to their deaths like that was a they’re not getting either one to budge from this i wonder who would be the one that is like no it’s my way and the other which two would be like all right it’s look if I were walking in the one thing I’d say if I wanted to keep this job uh would be uh my way is pretty flexible my way is very flexible that way for sure and I look I think it was probably if if what Josh told us was any indication asked of them in the interviewing process I would imagine and trying to gather some sense of are you going to be confrontational or or can we row in the same direction i will say this i know a lot of people think this just means Josh Kronkey is the president of basketball operations i personally don’t believe that to be the case although the optics today with him in the middle was kind of interesting i don’t believe that to be the case anymore than it has already been meaning I think Josh and Stan have always had influence over the biggest decisions a head coach that gets hired max extension that gets offered those types of big deal things i don’t think that they’re more involved in the dates day and including roster construction and on on the margins and those types of things so I think Josh will retain the same thing um I don’t think this is where he got two puppets to carry out his will cuz he’s doing every other stuff they’re invested in this but I don’t think they want to be in that role and and can we bring up well listen that one comment from Tony B clear as day that Josh Kroni is going to be the deacto GM and Adam was just saying I don’t I don’t think that’s true and and I think first of all if anything I think the question would be more of like a president role and I think you you have two GMs here i think that in the aggregate are sort of filling that role together um I was worried about that like about the Kunkies really sort of insisting on maintaining day-to-day power we’ve heard from Josh a lot i will say as he says it’s not going to be a daily thing he is a busy guy with a lot of sports stuff on his plate maybe that just is true but all the same that stuff would be easier to sort of digest if he came out today and was like I am or I am not the president of basketball operation maybe in his own way he feels like he did uh maybe we could have asked that question directly but I don’t think he’s the GM i think they have two GMs now yeah all right all right what super chats do we have do we have some uh yeah all right we’re going to overtime if you guys are watching on the fast channel go to the internet get super chats ryan B tired of the dysfunction let’s hire two guys and put neither of them in charge i’m sure that will go flawlessly also Josh keep trade out of your mouth man i think Say what do you say keep what keep trading out of your mouth yeah I I think that’s somewhat fair to to feel that way even though I don’t think it’ll play out that way but we will see it is It is hilarious to the sentence there mile High Singh why would Josh even bring up trading Jokic crazy uh I think he would take that one back you’re not going to believe this next one Adam josh’s comments on Jokic left me unnerved i mean shout out Maddox you guys i think it’s fair to feel that way man that was a foot in-you mouth situation i was joking with Chris Marlo afterwards it is like an a playbyplay you would never say “Man I really hope that guy doesn’t get hurt.” You’re never like “Oh he’s playing on a tight muscle i hope he doesn’t blow out his Achilles.” You never say that on the broadcast uh more from Matics if we ever trade yoga I will quit this sport and team hey you and me both diz Nuggets killer Jordan Pool back in the Western Conference #thankyou fans dude does the East I swear to God we have to get rid of conferences just when it looked like maybe the East could win back-to- back titles too what is the East going to look like next year brother very easy i see the Wizards are going to the conference finals i don’t even know who’s on their roster does Orlando suddenly look brilliant if you didn’t think they did before orlando might win 75 games next year evan Malikowski why should the Nuggets replace a GM coach power struggle with a setup that risks a power struggle between our two GMs i think in a weird way they’re hoping that this is less power and to answer this question I do think that a lot of their decisions here are forged by the Cal Malone thing i think the Crunkies this is why I don’t think the Crunks want involved i think they’re involved in like giant contract extensions oh Anthony Edwards is available he might come in and say “Yes we’re getting him if he’s available to us we’re doing it.” that you think it’s too expensive i don’t care we’re doing that like I think they’re there i don’t think they’re negotiating the smaller contracts or the how the you know all those other details what I will say is I think that Michael Malone George Carl they’ve read buted heads with both of those guys they’re big egos i think they want to put people in charge to do their job but not to feel like they’re wild horses that broke out of the pin and I think so to me they’re bringing in these two guys i don’t think to be lackeyis but to not be wild horses they’re like “Hey we hired you to do a job and you have all this room to roam don’t make us go chase you let’s check in three times a month and not every day.” And not every day i think the crockisies are more don’t want to be in they want to be too uninvolved in the dayto-day things would like to maintain of course a level of executive power of course but I actually did kind of swing today of like oh yeah they actually probably don’t want to be dealing with this headache he wants to go back to London and and worry about Arsenal yeah he wants to get back on the yacht he’s like “Damn it man i had plans in June.” I probably would also want to get back on the yacht and then Evan Malikowski josh didn’t talk about trading anyone but Yoke i like how we’re taking this even further in fact he’s the only one he mentioned trading it is true look that’s actually correct they’re not trading the core man they’ve told us in every way they can i don’t feel Just to let everybody know I don’t feel great about the direction of the Nuggets this is not something I’m trying to like sugar coat like this feels less confident to me than at any point previously although I will say last year everybody remembers coming into this year I was very unconfident because of the falling apart um so I guess I feel more confident than that at the moment cuz it’s at least there’s not that yeah cuz at least there’s not that but um the Nuggets just are not set up in my opinion more because of the last two years than anything else they’re just not set up in a way that you should feel great about so I understand the frustration from fans the only thing I’ll say is I don’t think today was necessarily a good or bad day i think today was a neutral day and now they have a really difficult roster to construct and they’ll construct it in the next two weeks i did love seeing Don Holmes today very upbeat very excited to play he’s such a Did we mention that he is the most I will say this um like it’s not maturity be it’s well-mannered he’s the most well-mannered player on the team cuz he came up to the media today which players just don’t do i wish they did the Oklahoma City Thunder I’ll give them this they’re so good with their local media you see the players and how they interact with all of those guys and I know they do the goofy stuff but they they do like they go out of their way to like support their local media guys duran Holmes’s coming up today just to like talk to the media and give some like in my 10 11 years of covering this team I don’t think a single player has ever come up to the media to chitchat he was excited hey I Will Barton actually yeah I was going to say Will was great at Duron probably look who’s more excited about an incoming basketball season than Deron Holmes yeah so it’s cool to see him there and did we I don’t know i’m sorry if I if I missed you say this as I was in my head for a second did we mention that Ben mentioned that they expect Deron Holmes to play at summer league yeah okay so he’ll play that gives us something to look forward to and um I will say Deron Holmes told us that uh Pton Watson cannot guard him and he told us to ask Pton Watson about because I bet Pton will feel differently i bet he will feel differently too all right everybody thanks so much for hanging out with us hit that like button on the way out draft shows tomorrow oh we have a buzzer beater they’re not training the core except you smiley face well played Evan hey draft show tomorrow ct Fazio joining us don’t miss it we’ll have fun together Nuggets even if we won’t draft anyone or maybe we will [Music] [Applause] all silly like the mayor

  1. Why do i get a ESPN notification saying the Nuggets could trade Jokic to get under the 2nd apron…. ummmmmmm what

  2. Yes, trade Jokić šŸ’Ŗ especially if you gonna keep THE REAL FRANCHISE PLAYER jamal murray, the Team Canada LEGEND!!!!

  3. STOP SAYING the mantra that starting five is good!!!!!! They are good because Jokic has to do everything!!!! Actual 2nd option will make the starting five even better, and make Jokic rested for the play offs.

  4. NBA is so hard to watch with their agendas. Been a lifelong nuggets fan, but if we trade Jokic I’ll be stepping away from the modern NBA for awhile. The ratings are continuing to diminish for a reason. NBA doing the same thing expecting a different result……..

  5. Your favorite Lakers Fan. Please give us Jokic if you do not want to or can build around him. Him even mentioning a trade is crazy but we will take him

  6. Kroenke going the Dick Monfort route threatening the fanbase. Dick did it by threatening to sell to someone who'll move the team. Josh does it by threatening to trade the franchises greatest player if the fans want them to spend to contend.

  7. Yippee, another run-it-back offseason. Solid players are going for so cheap these days but they’ll probably burn a pick to dump salary and add no talent yet again

  8. A lot of ā€œI thinkā€ in the replies today from Josh and front office. They still don’t even know what their official roles are

  9. Porzingis and Jrue holiday got traded and they’re on big money. Let’s stop pretending MPJ isn’t tradeable
