Things Just took a MAJOR Turn…
things just took a major turn for the new york knicks as there are going to have to be some tough questions answered for the knicks in regards to some of their players in this nba off season with trade rumors and contract extension rumors looming large and now an outside perspective has just played a huge part in what is going to happen next with the new york knicks and we are going to break all of it down what’s up guys welcome back to nicks digest it’s chris here and we’re going to jump right into things as always let’s do this if you guys are part of that 71% that’s not subscribed to nick’s digest make sure to subscribe we got daily videos like this coming out two to three times a day in the off season bunch of stuff going on right now the nba draft is going down in less than 24 hours and on top of that we are seeing a lot more exciting moments with free agency beginning the knicks coaching search looming large and just a lot of rumors surrounding what this knicks team is going to look like once the off season is said and done but let’s jump into it there’s a lot to go over there are some players that the knicks there’s going to have to be some tough questions that are answered about them and two of them are guys with extensions doing mitchell robinson and male bridges now leon rose keeps his cards very close to his chest it is hard to read what the man is going to do but there has been some noise surrounding this situation and now taking a dive into things we’re seeing the intricate details of what is going down with this new york knicks team right now and knicks insider ian begley just revealed a lot on his show the putback as he mentioned the interesting thing that begley had heard not on the knicks side but on the player side was that the expectation was they were going to be here as begley mentioned this was their read on the situation maybe a week ago things are fluid but i did find that interesting the thought around mitchell robinson was that we’re here we’re not going anywhere that to me tells you a little bit about what the knicks are thinking for their team look that by all comments makes it feel like there’s a very good chance that mitchell robinson is going to be returning to the knicks now to some people it might be that yeah well obviously but his contract his contract is expiring now i need to preface this because people always think i’m trying to trade mitch or i want mitch gone mitch is my favorite player in the knicks i do not want to see him get traded and i also am going to explain why i don’t want to see him get traded without just saying well i love mitchell robinson but i’ve also seen the front office as a group that could very likely trade mitchell robinson leon rose has been no stranger to offering mitchell robinson up in deals specifically that deal trying to bring carl anthony towns to new york where he offered julius randall mitchell robinson and the first round pick before the timberwolves responded with we want dante denzo not mitch and it ended up happening but that was on draft night deal only ended up happening because mitch was going to be out for a while now mitchell robinson is injuryprone so signing him to a contract extension is risky and the knicks have put him in trade talks for a very long time when mitchell robinson was on the roommates podcast a year ago jaylen brunson asked he’s like “let’s just get it right out of the way instantly you found yourself in trade rumors what’s it like?” and he his response was something along the lines of “i don’t care i’m in trade rumors all the time it doesn’t make a difference to me whatever happens it happens.” mitchell robinson seemed very unbothered by it either thinking he wouldn’t get traded or if he did it is what it is i figure at some point with the amount of time i feel like my name’s in trade rumors maybe it will happen but mitch evidently is still a new york knicks he’s a new york knick because he’s loomed large the man he does stuff that’s hard to replicate he’s the best offensive rebounder in basketball he’s an excellent rim protector he’s a good rim runner he’s just a great rebounder in a general sense great shot blocker great defender and he’s very much this team’s defensive anchor it’s hard to replace a defensive anchor when you’re a championship contending team you don’t have the money to go out and spend on one so you’d either have to kind of cheap out on one or you keep mitchell robinson and look there was a lot to discuss going over this i mean mitchell robinson had a great playoffs where he put up five points and seven rebounds got 3.7 offensive rebounds a game also got around a steal and a block per game as well it’s clear mitch was not at 100% when he had come back but the thought is to keep working keep getting him there now obviously he’s an injuryprone player there’s no sense there’s no doubt about it he just he is but the knicks were very healthy this season i mean they brought in casey smith to help out with that and what we saw was most of the knicks staying healthy and mitchell robinson taking his time to return and he looked good so the knicks are going to keep working with casey smith to map out what the plan is for mitch going forward to try to keep him as healthy as possible because how important the man is to winning basketball games because he’s so important to winning it is hard to move mitchell robinson but also he’s got a contract extension that’ll he’s due for one he’s on his expiring contract now one year left on the big man’s contract and are the knicks going to let mitch hit free agency are they going to trade him while they can or are they going to extend him those are their three options and we saw the news break yesterday from shams trirania that the dallas mavericks center daniel gaffford intends to sign a three-year contract extension worth nearly $60 million maverick’s officials and gaffford’s agent mike george and shyay of clutch sports negotiated the new deal through the 2028 29 season now daniel gaffford was solid this season no doubt about it put up 12 points seven rebounds and two blocks a game in the 57 games that he appeared in shooting 70% from the field no one’s doubting how good gaffford was and because of that what we’re seeing is a guy in gafford who very likely is going to be getting or kind of setting the market value for a lot of good defending centers who rebound the ball well got nearly three offensive rebounds at night and also score the ball well now we look at mitchell robinson and we look at just some other perspective on it sam quinn and schwinny pooh joined the pod strickland to weigh in on the knicks options with both male bridges and mitchell robinson though this did skew more towards robinson we will talk about male bridges after but it’s more about mitchell robinson right now with everything that’s going down look when it comes to mitch it’s very clear that there’s two things extending him is going to be hard the knicks are near that second apron already and that cap situation is going to become a lot tougher once they extend mitchell robinson once they extend male bridges and that’s going to have a big impact on things moving forwards so what quinn and pu and swinnie pooh both said was yes i did almost just call him pooh and i decided against it for those who kind of caught that but what sam quinn and schwinny both mentioned were that it’s hard to find a trade that involves the knicks sending out mitchell robinson where you’re going to get the same value back it’s almost impossible to do so so that $20 million that gaffford signed for that’s around the value that we’ll see mitch getting he’s going to get a raise off of his current contract he will be making more money because mitch and his agent are going to be like “well your hands forced man what are you going to do you’re going to let me walk for nothing you didn’t trade me so now you got to either pay me now or i’m going to go somewhere else and then you are going to be screwed out of luck.” so what looks like is going to happen is the knicks will probably lean towards extending him right now unless they decide to trade him and likely lose value in an effort to save money however what did leon rose say when he fired tomas tibido he said i also know it’s thomas by the way i have to make that clear but leon said “our sole focus is winning a championship the second apron is tough to deal with but if you can win a championship and it takes going to the second apron you obviously go into the second apron it’s not the end of the world if you win a ring you achieved your goal oh no we’re in the second apron we also are going “oh no,” with a ring on our fingers so it’s a little bit different so i do want the knicks to pay mitchell robinson because i don’t want mitch to go anywhere i think he’s really really really really really really really really really hard to replace i in fact i don’t think he’s really replaceable what mitchell robinson does and sam quinn said this as well it’s kind of impossible to replace all the little things that he does for him now the closest comparison to mitchell robinson i’d say is stephen adams a man who put up 6.6 rebounds 5.7 points and 1.1 blocks in the playoffs that he appeared in the numbers were very similar to mitch’s and adams was great he put up a good 3.3 offensive rebounds a night close to mitch’s 3.7 second best offensive rebounder in the game and adams got a $13 million per year extension three years $13 million on that per year average he’s looking he’s sitting pretty right now so for adams he got good money as well but he’s a little bit older he obviously missed the whole season with the torn acl so i don’t think mitch is going to get up to what sam quinn predicted around $20 million in fact i think mitch is going to get in between adams and gaffford i think he’s going to get around $17 million and if you can get mitchell robinson a guy who is a game changer to a contract on $17 million yeah you have to worry about the apron figure something out because you can’t lose mitch let’s be real you can’t lose him definitely get him on a depreciating contract like you did last time pay him the most money in year one and then have it scale down it just makes the most sense but with all this being said there also is the thought of male bridges because say you were to cut the money in bridges a sense like trading him or doing something else then the mitch thing becomes irrelevant you just keep mitchell robinson you move forwards and this was mentioned by by keith smith of spottrack who said “by all accounts when jaylen brunson signed an undermarket extension to create flexibility for new york it set the expectation that bridges would do the same using that as our framework the deal averages in the range of $35 to $37 million it seems order don’t be surprised if bridges signs a slightly shorter extension too a three-year deal with a player option on year three would align his deal with both brunson and anobies that’s likely appealing to both the player and the team let’s mark down something around three years for 111 million which is $37 million on an average annual value with a player option on year three is the baseline for bridges i love this contract i think it makes sense yes you’re going to end up going to the second apron if you play if you pay both of them but you’re trying to win a ring next year so let’s focus on that before we focus on everything else now keith smith also did mention mitchell robinson saying robinson’s situation could be a lot trickier he could start with hart shifting to a super sub role which is definitely a good move if you just play mitch like 20 25 men tonight or robinson could continue to play as high intensity backup role if robinson is seen as an important backup but a backup nonetheless that will limit how far new york will go in an extension given the uncertainty in his role but is important to the team a deal around 48 million over three years makes sense that’s 16 million average annual value the length of that would align with the knicks other long-term deals as well i think that deal makes sense mitchell robinson’s really injuryprone you paying him till a four-year contract what if he suffers a severe injury in year one and you’re screwed so i think three years i think both these contracts are excellent by keith smith i thought he picked perfect deals for both these guys and i would be fine with the knicks paying both of them even if it goes into the second apron i also could see leon rose deciding we can pay both these guys i didn’t bring mitchell robinson in so i’m going to send mitchell robinson out and try to get something in return but if you do that you have to get a defensive anchor who’s also a rim runner which means your hand is forced that mid-level exception that taxpayer mid-level exception you have to throw it at clint capella and pray he signs and he is not as good as mitchell robinson so are you coping out a bit there there’s a lot to go over with this and it becomes really really difficult but i think at the end of the day if your sole goal is winning a championship focus on that next year you just made the conference finals you’re bringing in a new coach who’s going to fit this team better go with this keep the team together because you don’t want to screw up a team that if you strengthen that bench a little bit use that taxpayer mid-level exception on someone who’s making around $6 million per year like a caris levert a luke canard a wing who could score the ball that takes you a much longer way than trading mitch for someone who makes less money and then also signing that mid-level exception for capella because you’re losing out a guy on mitch who has such a positive impact on the floor what do you guys want to see them do i know this was a bit of a longer video but just a lot to go over let me know in the comments down below i do want to keep mitch i’ i told you i’d talk about the mitch stuff and that i wanted to keep him i just had to explain why the knicks might want to trade him but guys if you enjoyed make sure to like this video it does help the channel out a lot also turn on post notifications so you never miss a video i just need my desk super hard my ring light almost fell this was almost a disaster guys hope you enjoyed hope you had a good time hope you learned something on the knicks have a great day go knicks baby we’re we’re also winning the finals next year obviously

This is insane
An expiring contract makes him lucrative not to mention his value as an all-time high so why not get something for him if we’re gonna trade him?
When he’s healthy he’s a beast!! Knicks need guys who can play D like he does
Mitchell stays
The player is always the last to know when a trade actually happens.
Bridges and Mich for JJJ would be insane!! Huck and potentially signing Moses Brown would solidify the center position and make the Knicks an instant finals contender!! IJS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes Mitch is a good player but can he be better? Yes! If he learns to work on his post/ interior moves to be more of an impact on the offensive side of the ball. I get it that he is a defender but with more offense the team improves ! Mitch with post moves then his money increases
He’s not coming off the Bench. With that type of money he will start. And no way are we getting Cappela for any reason.
Mitch is the most important knick on the team if he would've been healthy start of the season they would've won way more games with KAT at the 4 OG at the 3 Bridges at the 2 Hart with the second team or rotate Bridges and Hart with starts pending on the team
Keep mitchie
Sign bridges 5yr 150 trade og and Mitch for Gianni’s trade kat for jjj
Three team trade: Mitch and Isaiah Collier to Lakers, Max Kleber and two firsts to Utah, and Kessler and Knecht to Knicks. Make it happen!
No Mitch no ECF’s. Blockness stays
The KAT contract is a huge problem. If you trade him for a couple of good depth pieces and picks, this conversation is irrelevant.
Keep mitch
Trade him already injury prone get rid of him please
