Jordan Poole TRADED To The New Orleans Pelicans! CJ McCollum To The Washington Wizards!
well well well would you look at this a little midday trade i was just having a little snack and you know what what a perfect time to do a recording the New Orleans Pelicans and the Washington Wizards two teams that struggled mightily last year have just made a trade cj McCullum a guy that we suspected could be on the trading block and Kelly Oolk along with a future second round pick are on their way to Washington so sorry for those guys for Jordan P sorry Wizards fans it’s I look I I I I can’t help myself um for Jordan Pool Sadique Bay and the number 40 pick wow initial reaction to this is you really didn’t get much so what’s going on here i’m like obviously there’s salary uh implications to this right let’s let’s mock this trade out just for a second so we can actually see the implications i’m trying to do this more often so two bottom teams making a trade right here pelicans obviously trying to be a little bit more competitive this year it’s just injury central for them so Jordan Pool on his way over to New Orleans instantly i think that’s a pretty interesting fit uh CJ McCullum back here okay save a little bit of money and off money a year sooner yeah that makes that makes some sense that’s interesting okay and then who else is on the move kelly Oolen here uh on the one-year deal and then Sadique Bay over here and then we said it’s pick number 40 on their way over to New Orleans i think they only had one pick so that’s pick seven yeah and then some other second round pick that we’re not familiar exactly what it is at this point so okay so just know that there’s another second round pick in this somewhere but here’s the trade in and it of itself which I’m I I don’t mind this i don’t mind this let’s let’s think all this through let’s think about it from the Pelicans perspective they’re getting the best player in Jordan Pool jordan Pool honestly had a pretty solid basketball season last year um like try to ignore some of the efficiency things and this isn’t even me taking a dig at like the Wizards or something it’s just they weren’t a very good basketball team last year the team was kind of a mess it’s a lot of young players so it it’s not always going to be the cleanest form of basketball overall like dude was a pretty solid player like when he has the basketball he was able to be a great shot creator like he got to his own spots well like he actually facilitated things decently so solid basketball player can be New Orleans kind of starting point guard for the year um is it like his primary position not necessarily but he can be your pseudo point guard until Dejonte Murray comes back if and when he does come back he ended up with Sadiq Bay as well who uh missed this last season with like injuries um when he has played in the past he’s been a solid kind of 3 and D player the three part still developing a little bit but ideally can be a solid basketball player for you some depth at the wing position and um you get the 40th pick in the draft cool um and you got rid of CJ McCullum and Kelly Olen what does this mean for Washington washington adds another vet to their group which is cool like I like that this new Wizards regime is doing stuff like this right um I like that they’ve like their most expensive players are all these veteran guys that in theory will kind of help to grow and change the culture of this group right we’ll see if C.J mccullum is going to stick around here maybe they’re going to buy him out uh because maybe CJ’s just not even interested in being on this team i don’t know exactly um if he did get bought out he would instantly become a really valuable piece to somebody just because like offensively dude can still do a lot it’s just defensively there’s not much to go around at this point but if and I’ll say if CJ McCollum sticks around and I I actually think it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to keep him around um I I don’t mind this for them at all again Jordan P wasn’t going to help you a ton in the long term anyway right the value that Jordan Pool would have had for Washington this last season is he’s that he’s that primary score because when you look at the young guys on this group Alex Sar Bub Carrington Keshan George or whoever else you end up drafting right not going to be ready to be like go-to scorers in the NBA so you have someone on the team to take some of the scoring pressure off them when they first get in the NBA um I don’t know if you guys have been watching like the um the LeBron and Steve Nash podcast um what is it it’s uh I I can’t I can’t remember the name of it but they were talking about like development how like you shouldn’t expect guys to do too much like early on in the league and so having guys that can kind of uh take that pressure off you early I think is great so if you’re not going to have Jordan Pool on the team well CJ McCollum can go get some buckets for you still so between that Chris Middleton who you know he’s going to do his thing it’s kind of whatever they’re both on one-year deals kelly Ool Linux on a one-year deal Marcus Smarts on a one-year deal you have a ton of salary flexibility that’s opening up after this and more importantly just guys to put on your roster that will at least play competent basketball night in and night out and that’s going to raise the ceiling for your Alex Sars your Koulibalis your Bub Carringtons AJ Johnson Keshan George like what’s the point of having these young guys if you’re not going to invest some time and energy into them uh this reminds me now of kind of that old Timberwolves uh team where they had like some guys that are quite a bit older and then some real real youngans so that’s kind of what they got going on oh not to mention Rashawn Holmes also um his contract’s not guaranteed though right i believe that’s what’s going on with him and his contract uh yeah only 250k guaranteed so we’ll see but a lot of money coming off the books so I I like this for both groups do we have a an insight as to what else is going on here the trade swaps guards the Washington Wizard shifting from pool to the veteran McCullum who has an expiring contract washington is now expected to approach 100 million yeah this is what we were just saying that’s pretty crazy the Pelicans move younger possibly more dynamic with pool and bay yeah no this is a this is an interesting move this is not one that we drew up at all during the offseason i felt like we drew up just about everything um if I can shift attention back to the Pelicans this leaves you with kind of a projected lineup of like let’s just say it’s uh we’ll say it’s Jordan Pool um probably some combination of like Herb Jones Trey Murphy right zion Ees Missy whoever they end up drafting could be a potential guy for them like they’ve got scorers on this team they got some defensive players like I’m not saying this is a contender by any means but I think this definitely leaves the Pelicans in a better spot than what they were uh Sadi Bay could be a depth piece for them which I think could be nice um I I I do think this is a good improvement like they just didn’t have to give you anything for um uh for Jordan Pool like Jordan P just is a better player right and you got a draft pick back you sent out another second which I I just kind of don’t care about and you gave up two players that you just didn’t care to necessarily have so this is this is great i love this for both teams this is a really cool move um so shout out these two teams i think they’re doing good chalk this up hey you know what we don’t get to clap it up for the Wizards much in here i think the Wizards are doing good things right now let’s hope that this new front office is doing something i don’t want to see those comments of people being like “See everything’s better.” Let’s give it some time i You got You got to prove it to me first but hey we clap it up for these good moves like we did last year with Charlotte and some of their good moves good job Washington and I think this is cool i I like this again what are you going to do with that free agency space not necessarily anything but I I just rather have the vet on this team that can still go get you some buckets take pressure off of guys i think this is good this I think makes the Pelicans better instantly so cool everybody’s happy everybody’s happy i love this i love this um quick reminder I’m going to be live for the draft tomorrow uh I believe it’s like 6:30 central time I’m going live or something like that you can see it on my channel here what What When When did I post i was going to be there uh yeah 6:30 p.m uh US Central time so just be on the lookout for me there i’ve got a uh my final mock draft I’m recording for you guys tonight and it’ll be I might even just release it tonight cuz why not let it have a little longer lifespan before the draft so you know what yeah you guys will get a video later tonight and then um just an FYI there won’t be a video on Friday cuz I am uh now that like my work cycle has ended I’m going to travel and see some family for a little bit so just an FYI there won’t be a video on Friday but anyway I appreciate you guys as always and uh yeah let me know your thoughts on this trade i think this is a I think this is a good one anyway we will uh we’ll talk later thanks so much bye Thoughts on this move?
At first I thought “ew” but now I love it for both teams.
I like it for the pelicans as a buy low move, I Think it was obvious poole was not a wizard long term
Starting to think a big man gets drafted with their pick, possible khaman Maluach 👀 I’m hoping for that
Shit
That means New Orleans is staging Khaman Maluach at 7. Right?!?!? God damnit
I wanted him to the raps bad at 9. Now they have their PG in Poole, which means it’s gotta be Khaman at 7. That sucks bad
New look Pelicans:
Jordan Poole
Herb Jones
Trey Murphy III
Zion Williamson
Yves Missi
Jose Alvarado
Jordan Hawkins
Brandon Boston Jr.
Saddiq Bey
Karlo Matković
Dejounte Murray (Suffered a Torn Achilles Tendon on January 31st)
Antonio Reeves
7th pick
23rd pick
40th pick
I like this for both sides.
Poole did improve last year, so we'll see if he can still be a positive player in New Orleans. Zion does need spacing.
Washington is simply getting lots of cap space and fans were tired of seeing Poole play lol
My only question is for New Orleans. They need a big and having Missi as your only big isn't good. And i think it'll be stupid to trade one of Trey or Herb, but im just curious who'll come off the bench. Zion when healthy has to start, and now with Poole do you start Herb for defense and so is Trey okay coming off the bench?
I haven't watched the video yet but the thing catching my eye right off the bat that I don't like is that the Knicks are interviewing Micah Nori. I love him and I want him to be the wolves head coach so they need to stay away lmao
Hey, this is Java. We hope that you noticed our notification today. We at Java saw it pop up in your video, as well as a few others recently. You should really take the time to install the latest version of Java.
Your friends,
Java
Wizards fan here listening to see if you have a phone number for a hotline.
Idk why but this feels like a sad trade 😂
Such a good mix of seasoned vets and young prospects, I think Wizards' future is bright, and they could easily be a 1st round playoff team in the east next season
Jakucionis to WAS confirmed?
Always said, Poole give empty stats (team wasn't better with him on the court) and all the GMs know this. Therefore nobody offer picks for him
Will they buy out Olynk?, i still think he would be decent off the bench for a playoff team
we got two shooters, we got younger, we also got a good second. and we got someone who can knockdown free throws which we desperately needed. I like it.
A new version of Java is ready to be installed.

Pelican Poole Party at New Orleans. I don't know if they would be competitive but Poole is back in the west meaning more times to see and play Draymond lol
unc does JP and Murray work as a backcourt
Honesty i don't understand the wizards giving up poole for absolutely nothing
Knee jerk thoughts without context is both teams LOST in this trade. Jordan Poole is selfish, not mature, young, and poor at defense (again just perception without doing research)
I assume the idea is he's HEALTHY and for New Orleans they just need someone that's on the court.
Washington got older…. If the contract is bad I suppose that helps them lose. I just don't like either fit.
no more shot chuckers taking away looks from the young guys 🙏 hopefully the team is finally a fun watch next year
Sometimes I do the AVC high pitched annoying fan voice and it freaks out my dogs
Poor CJ, man.
As a wizards fan I just think it’s hilarious that Kelly Olynyk ended up here after torching us in game 7 in 2017. He is the role player that brings us the most nightmares
For the Wizards, I get their point. A clear strategy !!
Getting rid of Kuzma, Poole,… and bringing expiring contracts to lose again as much as possible next season while giving playing time to the young players. There will be very good players again in the top4 of the next draft !! Let's hope more luck for the Wizards beginning of may 2026.
And in summer 2026, lot of space under the cap to try to bring the best free agents in-house.
For the Pels, oula… the western conference is very strong and I am not sure that a lineup with Murray, Poole, Murphy, Zion and Missi will make the play-in.
Murray is still injured and Zion… Will he play ?
Btw is moving Olyinik meaning that the Pels will draft Maluach ?? But they also need badly a starting PG for half of next season.
Being the new GM of the Pels, I would push the red button…
I hope they can trade Hawkins, 23, 40 and get Derrick queen or something
Good idea, think I will travel and visit family.
Poole, Trey, and ZION!!
I like the pels getting younger and helping the timeline while staying somewhat competitive. Gonna be interesting to see when dej murray comes back and then i assume poole comes off bench? U got murray, herb, trey, zion, miss?
Wizards it feels a bit odd they didnt get much back in terms of draft capital. But i mean assuming cjs planning to stay for the yr then u got a vet whos also in the like players like idk what its called exactly but ill just say council like that represent players as a whole. So u got someone well respected with experience plus olynyk and a bunch of freed up space to take back bad contracts and get assets its a bit intriguing
I am so thrilled by this move. This must mean the Wizards are trading up for Ace! The needed to move Poole to give those shots to someone like Ace or Tre, but ACE! plus it means they are keeping their lottery pick next season! As a Wizards fan who is a Blazers season ticket holder, I love CJ, think his leadership will be great for the young wizards!!
Two team replacing their dirty underwear. Not that interesting
Wizards last year: this guy is pretty good, can't have that.
Wizards this year: this guy is pretty good, can't have that.
