i completely missed this trade but we have Jordan Pool heading to the Pelicans and CJ McCollum heading to the Wizards the full trade details are the Pelicans are sending CJ McConnell Kelly Olnick and a future second round pick to the Wizards in exchange for Jordan Pool Sadique Bay and the 40th pick in this year’s draft so the main pieces of this trade were CJ McCollum and Jordan Pool i think the Pelicans won this trade cj McCollum’s 33 years old averaging 21 points per game jordan Pool only 26 the Pelicans get younger i have no idea where the Wizards are going i don’t know what direction they’re heading in but it doesn’t seem good i don’t know what direction the Wizards are going in they could have built around a big young three with Kyle Kosma Jordan P and Alex Stard but instead they’re trading for all these 30 year olds this past year the Wizards have traded for CJ McCollm 33 Marcus Smart 31 Chris Middleton 33 what direction are they going in and Jordan Pool he may work out in New Orleans with Zion Williamson do they have any baddies in New Orleans

    For everyone who doesn't understand, which clearly seems to be most people here (including Tyler), here's why the Wizards made the trade
    1. They didn't view Poole as good enough to be a part of their future plans
    2. Poole has a couple years remaining on his deal while McCollum and Olynyk both have expiring deals
    3. Pelicans made this in order to increase space under the luxury tax to be able to us their MLE, while betting on a younger player

    Overall, this trade was more financially motivated than anything, but I'd say the Wizards probably won. Poole's not a core piece for them, or good enough to be worth keeping at that contract, so wizards open up max cap space for next year to do whatever they want with

    You don’t understand anything about the nba. Poole – expensive 3 year contract, almost in his prime (doesn’t fit wizards timeline), allows $110 million in cap space when the wizards get good enough to sign a meaningful free agent. CJ has a 1 year deal and will provide mentorship for the core of what the wizards are building. If you ever were involved in a team sport this trade would make sense. It’s not all about tangible stats big G. All good tho you’ll learn from it.
